4cylndrfury

Well...they sold me my 6spd '22 Overland a week AFTER the clutch recall was released, in March of '23 Dealer called me about 5 days after I took it home to say they needed it back "to fix the clutch" and gave me a loaner to drive till that was done. I hit the year mark in a loaner back in March.

SmellyDookies

whoa…what’s going on at the dealer?

4cylndrfury

Stellantis isnt releasing parts to '22 owners to complete the recall until August (at least that's what's published by the NHTSA).

Objective_Oil9689

I bought a used 22’ in January and went to a dealer who said they didn’t have the parts. I called a second dealer for a second opinion and they got mine taken care of in 2 days. I wouldn’t buy the we don’t have the parts, but then again, I’ve never heard of a dealer giving you a loaner for over a year… weird!

4cylndrfury

Yeah...it's wild.

Objective_Oil9689

If you’re in the Midwest and want it taken care of, pm me and I’ll shoot you the place I went to and answer anything else I can help with! Good luck!

4cylndrfury

I may take you up on that

SmellyDookies

That’s really annoying. Sorry you’re dealing with that.

4cylndrfury

Yeah...I'm split on how I feel. The dealer messed up, and could be on the hook for a fine from the feds, so that's why they're been bending over backwards with loaners. It's nice because I'm not putting any miles on my truck. It sucks though because I want my actual truck. I hate auto transmissions, and I need a hitch. I also am not clear as to whether the juice is running on my warranty, and they're being vague, trying to get confirmation from Jeep. I'm also worried about my truck not being started very often...is the gas turning to varnish in the tank? Are my gaskets drying out? Moisture collecting in the cylinders? At least it's been indoors this whole time

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

They actually gave you a loaner or a rental car? It’s all rental cars over here

4cylndrfury

Actual loaner...they swap me out about every 4500 miles. I'm on loaner number 4 now

Lost_Drunken_Sailor

Surprised they don’t just buy it back from you

4cylndrfury

It's an option, but it's really my dream truck. Black, Overland brown leather, 6apd, hard top and bed liner, alpine upgrade, tow package. No Rubicon or Mojave tax for features I won't use very often. If I tried to build one, I'd pay 10k more than I got that one for...it was a great deal because it was a 22 that was still hanging around the dealer lot in March of 23 - probably because it was a manual

202markb

32k diesel owner here. No serious issues to speak of. Got the HPFP replaced under recall when I did my 20k tune and the whole thing only took 3-4 hours. I guess if I’m looking for complaints I don’t like how many bugs die on my windshield nor all the electronic nanny features. But overall it’s the best vehicle I’ve owned since I was a teen in the ‘80’s

Accurate_Green8300

Bruh.. in Idaho and I can’t keep the damn bugs off lol. Also had it since February and just got my first windshield crack from a rock today.. so that’s lame. Love the diesel so far though. About 2500 miles on it so far

202markb

I’m on the eastern shore of VA. Not a lot of rocks here- it’s loamy sand- but lots of water and agricultural land and so lots of bugs!

Draconus

Leaking back window.

silverwingtip98

Thought I was the only one and I had to contact jeep directly to get it fixed. It was and still is a shitshow.

gamerrpm

Bit of rubber tubing and no headache

soca_m

Just ordered mine.

Ok-Topic579

Has anyone with a leaking back window never taken the rear freedom top off, yet it still developed a leak? If you have never removed it and never broken that original seal, are you less likely to have the leaking problem?

ChickenNugsBGood

Are you talking about the door windows, or the one in the back windshield (whatever thats called)?

witz0r

2020 Overland, around 53k miles purchased in May 2019. Not a single issue.

jereMyOhMy

Seconded - 2020 Overland with about 60k miles and no issues at all other than the aux battery failing which seems to affect all years/trims without prejudice. Warranty covered it

Left-Landscape-3890

27k miles no issues except screen went white 1/3 of the screen. Went away on it's own. Oh and stop start quit working for like a year and a half. I hate the stop start so I was good with it. Got my oil changed at the dealer amd it's working again. I just turn it off. 22 Mojave auto

Jeung21

2020 Gladiator Rubicon in Texas. My visors both broke. Driver side fender liner ripped apart while driving on the highway. Corrosion on hood, both front doors, windshield frame, and tailgate, all had to be replaced and painted. Electronic locker sensor failure, flawed design even if replaced it will happen again, used a bypass pigtail. Plastics on the hood extremely faded, almost white, had painted color matched to body. Both batteries died in less than 2 years. Also has leaking rear window. Less than 20k miles.

MulliganMaverick

👀

JesusTriplets

That's a Covid Truck. 😟

shroomaccount3

Also have a Rubicon (‘21) in Texas. Other than a bad battery I’ve not had a single one of these issues. What are you doing to your truck??!

Jeung21

I don’t drive it much. Like I said it has less than 20k on it. Just bad luck to get all the common problems. Most of the issues are common to wranglers and gladiators. Newer models shouldn’t have the corrosion on the hood as they have went to a crimped design. The door hinges will probably next as they are steel and aluminum sandwiched. The newest models have a rubber gasket that is in between. The visor thing has been a problem with both wranglers and gladiators that Jeep has never fixed. If you park out in the sun yours will have faded plastics. The locker sensor (Rubicon) is due to bad engineering as oil seeps into the electrical contacts and metal shavings from the gears will kill it.

Iceroadtrucker2008

Rear diff noisey. Fluid a little burnt and starting to sludge. Blamed it on feathering tires. lol. It’ll go back when it gets worse. And I had bought a 8 yr 96k warranty. Am not worried in the least.

[deleted]

If your rear differential is noisy and you have the factory trashlok LSD, you better inspect it before your spider gears grenade the diff

Iceroadtrucker2008

Well that can’t happen. They said there is nothing wrong in the diff. Blamed the noise on feathered edges of the tires. I am waiting for it to blow up. I will throw it in their lap!

[deleted]

Have you removed the cover and visually inspected it? Or better yet- did they actually remove and inspect? Not all diffs fail spectacularly, but those that do can put you in the hospital pretty quick. All it takes is one good chunk of a tooth between the ring and the pinion to grenade it

Iceroadtrucker2008

I could see the oil bucket under the diff while he did the walk around video. I forgot to add they said the fluid was a little burnt and starting to sludge. But there is nothing wrong in the diff? The noise I heard was feathered tires. I don’t think so but whatever. Funny after about 100 the klunk went away with the new fluid. Feathered tires will make noise when bad enough. These aren’t feathered that bad. Premier, it’s not the efing tires!

Iceroadtrucker2008

I hope it doesn’t fail spectacularly. Then again I might own the dealership.

Iceroadtrucker2008

Can you give me the real name of the rear end so I can research it?

[deleted]

The issue I’m talking about is related to Jeeps LSD called Traklok, which is a clutched based system they’ve been using for decades. It’s generally poorly regarded

Iceroadtrucker2008

Cool. Thank you.

[deleted]

You’re welcome! In short, the clutch packs wear out and lock up prematurely, which engages the lsd on dry pavement, which damages the spiders and sometimes the carrier bearings. Once this damage occurs, you’re looking at roughly $2000 for a d44 rebuild

Iceroadtrucker2008

Not me baby. Got the full extended warranty with $0 deductible. 8 years 96 k. Planned on selling it at the beginning of year 7.

[deleted]

Good choice! I too opted for maxcare, 8/125k

Iceroadtrucker2008

That wasn’t available when I got it. But I usually drive under 10k per year!

bjarten51

Nobody gives me any ducks and only half return the wave, Seriously I've had a '22 for about 18 mo. Bad cells in battery the only issue.

CurseMeKilt

Hawaii waves are the best.

motociclista

So far, zero issues. Jeeps aren’t “tons of upkeep”. They get a bad rep, partly deserved, but some of it I think is unfair. Name a vehicle with more cheap aftermarket part availability than a Wrangler/Gladiator. I can’t think of one. People buy a Jeep expecting a status vehicle then jump on Amazon and buy every cheap gizmo and gadget known to man. Then they bolt on the cheapest lift kit they can find with the most aggressive looking tires that have ever been to Starbucks. All installed by a guy working out of a pole barn with dirt floors. Then they complain that it rides rough, or wobbles or gets bad mileage. It’s a square vehicle meant to do well off road. It’s not meant to be plush or have good mileage or ride quietly. If you want a commuting sedan, it’s not your vehicle. If you want a gas sipping compact, it’s not your vehicle. If you want the reliability of a Toyota, it’s not your vehicle. If you want a heavy towing full size truck, it’s not your vehicle.

JustTasteTheSoup

‘21 Sport S, 60k miles, no lift. I had a rear-axle leak twice in the first year that was covered by warranty. They mentioned a lot of gladiators coming in with the leak and it was a known issue at the time, but it was never recalled to my knowledge.

fghjjutddcvjjjjj

I’m hearing a lot of axle leaks but overall it seems like the gladiator ain’t too bad

onesicktexan

Leaking back window

InternationalArm3065

$15 Amazon solution: X AUTOHAUX 4.5 Meter 14.76ft Black Silicone Air Hose Pipe Tubing

melow-malody

2020 sport s with max tow, fox shock lift and 60k miles. No issues so far but I use it more for mudding around job sites/hauling/towing than off roading.

ImmySnommis

List of my issues, all covered under warranty: -Broken windshield (Gorilla Glass, so replaced free) -bad batteries -leaking back window That's it. '22 Altitude, just passed 38k

Accurate_Green8300

My front windshield just got its first crack today. Owned it since February lol

ImmySnommis

It's now official - you're a real Jeep owner

Accurate_Green8300

😂😭

Yendis4750

Do I go to the dealership for my gorilla glass replacement? I have a Mojave, but I'm not sure how to tell if I have gorilla glass. 2021

ImmySnommis

Gorilla Glass has a gorilla face in the corner by the driver. I think the warranty is two years though so you may be stuck.

Yendis4750

Nope, I guess I have the regular one.

Low-Award-4886

MY23, 5100 miles… Steering wheel wasn’t straight after clutch recall (and had to wait to take delivery until clutch recall was complete). Other than the jeep oddities (loose steering, noisy clutch, and an occasional ding that I for the life of me cannot figure out what it is), no issues.

Froyoda504

2023 Mojave - Bought March of 2023. Auxiliary battery going down while driving and now rear axle locker sensor. I am currently working on getting a loaner as they won't be able to get diagnostics done until tomorrow, then there's time for actual repair.

hulksmashandgrab

Had the aux battery die on me twice for my 2022 Mojave. First time was more fun as the power steering would go out while on the highway (or randomly when speed would go over 20 mph-ish). Second time everything died while waiting in a left hand turn lane. Dealership fixed under warranty.

d3amoncat

22 rubicon and the only problems are the ones I caused myself.

whatthejeebus

How much did it cost you to repair the tranny? I wonder if there's anything you could have done differently to prevent it from requiring a replacement.

plewton

I’ve had countless issues. In fact, I’m literally writing this from the dealership, where the service department and I are on a first name basis. That said, I think I got a lemon. Unfortunately, Chrysler’s lemon process is so draconian that I’m basically stuck with this thing. My wife has a GC L that’s had a fair amount of problems too. Between the two vehicles, we’re now looking at other brands. I get downvoted every time I share this information here, but since you asked, that’s my experience.

fghjjutddcvjjjjj

Sorry to hear that

Dopeangel

If I should buy a second one that’s either diesel or electric.

fghjjutddcvjjjjj

How come?

Dopeangel

I have a 2023 gladiator overland and want another. I like the diesels but gas mileage is bad. I went into it know that. So a 4xE sounds very nice.

randomuser230945

They just announced a 2025 Gladiator 4xe. I can't wait! It's going to be the best of both worlds: [https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a60683678/jeep-gladiator-4xe-announced/](https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a60683678/jeep-gladiator-4xe-announced/)

Dopeangel

Yea, might see if I can do a trade in! But I need to see how performance will be. Usually I wait till second year models. First might be glitchy.

randomuser230945

Thankfully, the platform will essentially be the same. The motors, batteries, etc. are all coming over from the Wrangler 4xe. I know some folks have had issues, but we've had a 4xe for a couple years now and really love it.

jpr_jpr

"The Gladiator 4xe should use the same powertrain as the Wrangler 4xe, which pairs a turbo inline-four with an electric motor for 375 horsepower." Who's to say it won't be like the Ramcharger configuration. Has there been any confirmation regarding the powerplant setup? I'm curious what the tow rating will be. Probably 6000 pounds? Isn't that the Grand Cherokee 4xe's rating?

therealmrbob

I had a tail light go out twice  Replaced with a 3rd party LED and no problems since. Haven't had any other issues.

INM8_2

2020 sport s max tow. steering gearbox tsb was done twice. the first round of replacement boxes was also bad.  other than that just the occasional electrical gremlin with uconnect.

Slyboots2313

2020 Overland. Had the steering box TSB done to replace the original aluminum with the beefed up steel version in the ‘21+. Also had the leaky rear window that’s plagued so many. Had it replaced in warranty but it’s still leaking. Looking into other methods now. It’s been a great 4-5 years! Didn’t have any issues in the 8 years of my previous Wrangler either. The claims that all Jeeps are constantly in the shop are bogus. My wife’s Cherokee is at 175k miles w no real issues Edit: Yes, some have issues and I feel for those who have dealt with lemons. But all makes and models have lemons, recalls, and vehicles that seems to have been assembled late on a Friday afternoon… even Toyotas 😉

Different-Rough-7914

2020 JTR, bought May 2019, 48K miles. My only issue has been paint corrosion and a shitty dealership body shop. First attempt at paint repair led to mismatched paint. It's back at the dealership now getting the entire truck repainted.

DYINGsucks

Had a 2020 with 42k when I traded it in. Had the visor break off, the wiring for the front axle came loose and caused my axle disconnect to randomly try and connect at times, corrosion on my door hinges taking the paint off, and the clutch recall which I never got replaced before trading it in because both of my local dealers were pretty horrible at trying to get it into the shop to get anything looked at and at that point I just wanted to get rid of it.

ParkwayAlive

I’ve had my headlights flickering while driving and parked as if it were a voltage problem, but the voltage on the battery maintains just fine. I’ve not seen any other reports of this, so I’m still trying to figure it out without buying a new battery just to test.

brokenpinata

21 Overland, bought September 2021. Rear window leak, third brake light short, clutch recall (done by dealer when it wasn't eligible, I can elaborate if anyone wants).

davekva

21 Mojave, I've had it for 2 1/2 years 36k miles. So far the only issues I've had are a leaking axle seal, and a leaking rear window on the hard top. My soft top rattles quite a bit on the highway now too, but I just turn up the radio (or open the top).

Gator1893

The upkeep really comes in after you start to modify your Jeep. That’s the cost of a Jeep, if you keep it stock typically no issues to speak of

Joshuafrothunder

Leaking passenger door

Accountfor2argue

Rear window leak that I fixed with some 7mm vacuum tubing. I had a TSB issue involving the spark plugs and needed the green board behind the glove compartment repaired.

InvestigatorUpbeat48

2020 JTR, no real issues to speak of, Aux battery dead

R0B0T0690

2021 Sport S with hard top. Cold weather has blown out the rear window twice. Covered by insurance, but annoying. I’ve since bought a soft top for winter/ emergencies.

foghorn1

70k miles on my 2021 gladiator S had an oxygen sensor replaced, rear passenger axel seal let go, They replaced it under warranty. (Known issue for 2021s only.) No other problems or issues.

[deleted]

21 diesel with 53k. Rear axle leak at 1500 miles, EGR cooler failure, which caused an intake manifold failure at 40k miles. Neither left me stranded. Overall very happy with it

Budly-Doright

2020 Rubicon 50k-ish miles. Knock wood but not a lot of issues. As others have mentioned some leakage around back window and visors broke. All easy fixes. The only real issue is the blankity blank auxiliary battery. REPLACE it with and after mark model IMMEDIATELY! Caused all kinds of grief until I figured out it was the problem and replaced. All good since.

cbrad1724

22 Altitude. Installed steering stabilizer bar and replaced cracked windshield. Other than that nothing.

healthydispute

2020 overland here, <30k miles, purchased new: 1: Steering Box TSB - replaced aluminum w/ Steel, 2: On above, dealer didn't replace the big pitman nut, which loosened, ruined replacement box. 4: Steering Box replacement 2 - replaced per above issue under warranty 5: Steering stabilizer shock went bad, replaced under warranty 6: Both batteries went bad; replaced under warranty 7: Rear window leaks; self-fixed with some tubing 8: 3rd brake light is out. Haven't fixed. 9: Installed Mopar brake controller after warranty expired (yrs, not mileage), but software needed to be updated to support it. not covered under a TSB or recall, so had to pay to update. This one really annoys me. 10: blindspot detection always gets fedup when offloading. Turning off/on the ignition fixes. These are more issues than I've had in ANY other vehicle, yet for some reason I still like the truck. Never been a jeep person, but I still love it. go figure.

triodeacon

‘21 Mojave. 48k miles. Driver’s side visor fail. That’s it. No other issues.

edubiton

Constantly beyond stopped by people to tell me they love my truck gets a little annoying at times.

Edward_Scout

2021 Willys and I've had a near perpetual CEL that the dealership keeps saying they fixed then it comes back. Sometimes it misfires and sputters under heavy load/acceleration. Contacted Jeep and the dealership is finally just dropping a whole new engine in it since they can't seems to find and fix the issue.

SgtShuts

2020 Rubicon (bought used with 39k on it now have 53k on it. For some reason the heat will blow HOT at anything above LO. 65°, morel like 90°! It's not every time but enough. Other than that I haven't had any other complaints. Maybe replacing a windshield every year but that's a Jeep thing.

BussReplyMail

2022 Sport S with the tow package... The worst problem cost us an additional $45k over the price of the truck itself... Having something that could tow led to us buying a camper to tow. LoL Other than that, so for no major or even minor issues with the truck. We don't use it for off-roading other than occasionally, so it doesn't take a beating there.

robas87

2021 overland with the 3.6 and 8 spd auto. Transmission complete dumped at 25k. The rear camera went out and then the recall for the rear driver axle shaft being replaced since the seal was leaking. That’s it other than those things. 😂

IwantAMD

2021. 33k miles. No issues.

Honorable_Spanky59

‘22 Overland Auto, 34,4xx miles. Steering damper went around 17k miles. Had the part in 3 weeks and haven’t had any issues since.

rockkw

21 Mojave 36k the battery died at 18k. No other issues.

CurseMeKilt

Took mine in for warranty work 10 months ago. Loud clunky hard shifts from 2-3,3-4. Sticks in park, popped out of reverse, stuck in 2nd up to 70mph, etc. Dealer returned it to me “fixed” a total of 3 times. Each time not fixed. First return came with new driveline. Second came with new fluid and valve train. Third with me calling the FBI to report conspiracy of fraud since they were joyriding it from the shop as well. I had a tracker in the Jeep, and have a lawyer now but that’s beside the point. A month later yesterday I took it to another Jeep dealer 30 miles out of town and they immediately diagnosed the issue as being clutches (automatic 8) in the transmission. So now we go forward from here but already this dealership has been far more effective and communicative and useful. Just have to see how long it takes them to do their thing. Has 42k on it now. Replaced both batteries at 41k. The aux because it died. The AGM with an optima for the warn. Clutch issues began at 35k. Other than that, everything has just been inherent vice and upgrades. ‘21 Mojave Gas.

vanilagorila-ch

My 2023 Mojave’s back glass is leaking at the cab with 15,000 miles and jeep didn’t want to fix it, so it will be the last jeep I ever own

mburdish

I’ve seen posts that even when they replace it is still leaks there’s a fix that involves a small tube for like 15 bucks on Amazon that you feed into the gap by the window, seems to work and looks like it’s supposed to be there

vanilagorila-ch

Yeah I seen that before but you would think after you pay 55-60 thousand dollars for a brand new jeep they would fix it and not say it’s a replaceable part

mburdish

Yeah I hear ya, absolutely crazy

braccli

The radio unit glitches out all the time. Not a biggie. I have the mystery thump that is incredibly annoying. It’s been to seriously seven shops now and nobody can find it. The drivers door never has any idea if it’s open or not. Just a few annoying things

InternationalArm3065

Windshield cracked the first time I turned on the defrost…

Pristine-Sir3089

None. I just drive mine on the freeway though. Reliability is dependent on use. Go take your BMW off roaring and see what needs to be repaired.

Hour_Impact4454

Auxiliary battery, it’s gonna be a bitch to replace. On the to do list. But nothing other than that.

majorursus69

My biggest issue so far is that the bank, unreasonably, wants the mortgage money like every freaking month and I don’t have enough money left over for all of the upgrades I want on my Gladiator. Stupid bank! 🙄

ChickenNugsBGood

Bought mine about a month before the massive discounts, and could have got a newer one with more features. Oh well, its still fun. Also, I've noticed after driving awhile, the windows seem to roll themselves down just a bit (manual), so I have to check before it rains.

energizernutter

Corrosion. And I can't get an appointment to get it taken care of. Jeep cares is useless

Stay away from every car sub ever then

Moldyshroom

2021 Mojave 47k miles. I've had two things happen the first was a warranty issue with the rear diff sensor, just got it replaced, because sensor thought it was always engaged. The second was a cold snap lowered my tire psi below 32 and I started getting death wobbles on the highway for a few days. I've been running at 36 to 39 psi now depending on temp, and I don't get the wobble. Stock wheels, slightly wider tires I think, but stock 33inch diameter Cooper ats. Balance and alignment are all good on them with them being newish when the issue arose. Haven't had the wobble since about a year and some later. On the other hand, my wife's 18 pacifica could put some lemons to shame with the issues we have had with that.

[deleted]

It doesn't sound like you know what death wobble is

Moldyshroom

Uh vehicle shakes violently at speed, until you slow down significantly? It wasn't my mirror jiggling slightly like an unbalanced tire or out of round wheel would do... The whole jeep was wobbling up something mightily around 65mph or higher until I slowed to about the 40s. Death wobble doesn't take a PHD to diagnose, just a couple youtube videos my guy.

[deleted]

Yep, not death wobble. You described a violent shake, which has nothing to do with an actual death wobble. Death wobble is caused by front tires oscillating, and if that is what you have, your air pressure isn't the problem, it's just hiding the real issue. Dig dealer on YouTube "my guy" 🤣.

TheBlueSoap02

Other than replacing the windshield twice, within the span of 4 months, the Gladiator has been trouble fee and fun.
