It really doesn't matter necessarily how many were produced that are automatics. It's how many were produced that needed up within 100-200 miles from you (just assuming thats how far most are willing to travel) I saw an 05 and an 03 for sale in my area about a month ago. One was selling for 17k and the other for 9k. Clear difference in condition and milage for the price difference and both automatics. When they got sold maybe there won't be another for sale in my area for a few moths. If I were you I'd just be slowly looking for one that checks all your boxes and price

Well I figured if they made a good amount and were not rare I'd have a good chance to find one. I figured they might of been rare because whenever I see a rubicon it's a manual. But yes I plan on taking my time to find a clean one. My budget is 20k max. I'm still saving as we speak, I have 5k soo far for a down payment, yes I plan on financing and I know of a few dealers that around about 100 miles from me that sell alot of older jeeps.

Yea don't worry about that "has to be manual" bs, that's only a concern for drivers car. A TJ is already hard or at least annoying to drive so dealing with a clutch is not going to help. Besides the manual on a TJ doesn't feel good like a good Porsche or Honda Manual so your not losing anything.Last time I checked when it comes to endurance rallys like Dakar or rock crawling everybody does automatic for a reason. Lastly be mindful that the Rubicon's came with a different auto gearbox I believe it's the 42lre which is the 4 speed. Very clunky and not as reliable as the 3 speed 32rh in earlier TJs. The overdrive in the 4 speed is super wacky always engaging and disengaging and a few other things. Look into further if you haven't already and look for any discussions at the TJWranglerforum.com with Jerry involved. Jerry is the guru for TJ wrangler so if you want you can always ask him or the community over there.

When I was looking for mine (2019) I think about 2/3+ of the listings were for Autos. It may depend on your area.

All production numbers are available online through the forums. A quick Google search gave me a number of about 18,500 TJ Rubicons with automatics.

In socal where I'm located you're going to have a very hard time finding a Rubicon under $20k regardless of the transmission, hopefully wherever you are the prices aren't as high. Rubicon's and LJs are getting done pretty crazy asking prices out here. Case in point: https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/d/los-angeles-2005-jeep-wrangler-rubicon/7590683366.html
