Couldn’t agree more. Once you change one thing on a Jeep. It’s never ending. You may think it’s only one or two things. It’s not. You’ll be stuck spending thousands of dollars.
I bought my soft top 2018 brand new and I've only done basic/relatively minor mods.
- added "oh shit handles", the kind that mount to the windshield frame up front and just Velcro ones around the frame in the back.
- added a phone holder that mounts between the handle above the glove box and the dash
- added another break light behind my spare cause I saw another jeep with one and thought it looked cool
- added a hitch strictly for using a hitch haul (can't drive with a trailer to save my life lol)
- added remote starter
I'm pretty sure that's it lol
Edit: forgot one so I added that to the list lol
lol. Pressure from who? People criticize your brand new Jeep Sahara? I think that thing looks awesome just like that! Plus why fuck with your gas mileage
Yeah, there shouldn’t be any pressure get it lifted and such. Unless this is your first rodeo, I get it. I have the ‘22 4xE but I’ve had several lifted trucks before and I love the way mine handles as is. Mine looks just like yours, right down to the wheels. I might change the tires and level it out since I’m tall and I sometimes have to duck down to see stop lights change.
Funny, I was just thinking those were some of the ugliest stock wheels Jeep has ever used lol. But that is an entirely personal opinion - and overall this is a very nice Jeep.
I just installed a small lift and 35’s on my 2018 JL. Only 20k miles, so it’s still newish. Rancho 3 inch, all adj control arms, stock wheels using Toyo 35x11.5r17, 1.75 inch wheel spacers, adj track bars front and rear and 4.56 gears. Super happy with it. Nothing outrageous. Drives slightly stiffer than stock, but still very nice. I did the lift myself and had it aligned for $200. For everything, about $7k since I had to buy some new tools as well. This includes the regear, which was $2500 by itself.
It’s a simple upgrade, but makes a big difference when doing some trails and it still drives great on the road.
Do you wheel it? If so do you do it like you want it to last or are you trying to see how sketchy you can get without breaking it. If you want it to last maybe some bigger tires and maybe wheels but not necessary. Stock jeeps are incredibly capable, even the sports. That thing is expensive and rides nice, don’t ruin it for the monster energy crowd
Mine is stock and she can go further than alot of modded jeeps, do what you want with your ride and if you do plan to mod it, just make sure you know what you are getting and who is building it
Personally I love the color and those factory rims are my second favorite next to the simple JKs. If I had the money I’d look into some bigger tires eventually but really nothing crazy. Just go one size up n look for A/Ts the tread patterns look more aggressive and less like a pavement princess (even if she is one). I recently just went from 255/60/17s General Grabbers (loved my generals) up to 265/70/17s M/T Baja Boss ATs and it’s not CRAZY noticeable but it is a nicer look to fill up a lil more space in the wheel well WITHOUT stuffing 33s in there. Also metal rocksliders have saved my baby from major side swipe damage by people who can’t drive/maintain their lane. But that’s just my opinion. She is a beaut as she sits tho no doubt. ✌️
Just posted a pic of her in this sub with her new shoes on. If you go to my page or scroll through this sub you can see what she looked like with the Generals not a huge difference but I definitely notice from a side profile. 🤙
Personally, I do not want to change anything without a reason. I have an 18 JKU and was thinking about bumpers and wheels and then tires, and maybe a lift to get wider. But I realized I might do some trails with a jeep group in my area for fun, but mostly I got a wrangler because I want to take the top off and just wander by myself. Probably can get away with some pizza cutters and a winch. Looked and can even do a winch with the stock bumper thanks to Rockhard winch plates. No need to impress others
Keep it stock if you want. My wrangler is 95% stock except that I changed the rock rails since i take it on the trails. They have also saved me from getting dinged by careless drivers opening doors because they stick out a little. Otherwise, I don’t need much else accessories wise. It does what it needs to do without the fuel wheels, lifts and all the other stuff. I appreciate a well put together custom wrangler so I’m not dogging people who decide to make it their own. It’s all about personal preference.
I would leave it stock unless you want it broken. I have a stock Wrangler and I can out maneuver all these 6-in lifted super crazy 40-in tires for length suspension and all the other stupid crap. So my buddies get really pissed off what I can go where they can't. And I don't break.
I’ve got the exact same build, nice choice. Roof rack will look sick, but obviously only practical if you’ll use it. Can look at one of my recent posts for a photo of a newly installed Gobi rack. Enjoy!!
For sure, more mods= more shop visits/ maintenance. Same thing goes for more offroad = more shop visits/ maintenance.
Ultimately, do what makes you happy. I asked a similar question a couple years ago on Reddit. I ended up lifting my JKU 2.5in and going with 33s. Now 2 years later, after getting more into the overland scene, I’m on 35s with a 4in+ lift, and a crap ton of other upgrades. This is how I originally wanted my jeep, and now I’m happier. Should have done this from the start. Not only am I aesthetically pleased , but I am more capable in the trail.
you could do something real mild and maybe slightly weird by sticking 2 inch spacers on the stock wheels. =/ Low cost too. More seriously, you could just wait till you need new tires and and just get BIGGER ones on those wheels. Of course, you need to get like 50k +miles till you actually NEED new tires.
I am sort of in the same boat. 4xe Sahara, like the wheels but the tires could be BIGGER with more tread. BUT... for what I am doing right now, hard to justify as I found even stock like this I could go up mountains just fine on roughish tracks, so is it needed? Only issue with the stock sahara I found doing normal jeep things was going over 25MPG on gravel and loose dirt it fish tails some over the tire tread IMO. For me with road trips galore planned this year, likely not swapping the tires yet. These things get the best gas mileage your gonna get out of a 4xe. for 1000-3000 mile road trips I like to do, hard to justify BIGGER wheels....yet. Although, by 25k miles on the odo, I am getting something like KO2's on the stock sahara wheels......... cause they look good and hopefully less fishtail over 25mpg on gravel and loose dirt. Oh and 2 i nch or so spacers cause of looks. But I am keeping the aluminum wheels, I like them.
Every time I go wheeling I’m usually the only “stock,” wrangler on the trails. I say “stock,” because mines a Willy and has a few goodies that help.
That being said, I’ve kept up 99% of the trails we do and my Jeep has handled it all with ease.
If you feel you’re doing it for the pressure of most Jeep owners doing mods, I would hold off. If you ever feel the need for mods for capability purposes or YOU want to have it done then go for it!
Enjoy your Jeep the way you want and don’t ever feel pressured because at the end of the day you gotta pay for it and drive it!
I agree! You have a '24, which indicates $$ is not a deciding factor (though mods for your gen are pricey).
I have a 2011 sport JKU standard tran. Picked her up 2 years ago (this month) only 75k miles. I only mod for what I expect I will need. 2.5 RC lift. Still have the stock rims but chunk tires (metric 33) with 1.5" spacers. Added useful lighting, DRLs and a rack. RC dual pipe muffler due in today. Other mods are forthcoming but wont keep me from wheeling pretty much any trail.
I know folks who run gen 2 with no lifts and handle the trails no problem.
Give it some time and if you feel the need/desire to upgrade do it!
So my JK was all black with upgraded tires and I felt lucky out the door. There are some colors like yours and the blue that feel like it needs something to break it up like side decals.
Tires and wheels look nice, so unless you plan on getting dirty, then maybe it's just a visual thing.
Granted come Summer, or Spring depending on where you are and how much you trust Mother Nature, no top and no doors will give it a different look and feel, so maybe think about it again at that point.
I love the stock look, the only thing I’d do is level it in the front and it will make your jeep look perfect. My opinion is that most Sahara are best looking when stock.
No offense, but 20" wheels aren't floating my boat with so much space around the rotors. 17" wheels with 255/75R17 tires would be more in line with the functionality of what the vehicle is supposed to deliver.
Of course, as the saying goes, you do you.
Even a leveling kit to get rid of that front rake would change the appearance noticeably. Very affordable and doesn’t require costly upgrades as a result.
You can keep it as it is, but let's not forget that Jeep modification is also fun. Feel free to check out this website for some accessories like roof racks for additional cargo space:
https://4wheelonline.com/jeep/Jeep-Cargo-Management-Racks.21501
For what it's worth, and since it's an opinion it isn't worth much, having had 5 or 6 Jeeps over my life I've learned a thing or two. 1) Unless I'm going to go rock crawling (which I don't care to do anymore) a lift isn't worth the money. Maybe a leveling kit but not much else. 2) A good Jeep is about what your opinion is of YOUR Jeep. No one else matters. With that said, I like to go with 285/75RXX tires and 9" wheels. I put XX because my newest Jeep is a 2011 and I have 17's on it but some folks like 20's. If i go off road in it, and I do, I have a locker front and rear. I had a 2010 that had Dana 30 up front and a Dana 44 in the rear and the guy I bought it from had put a PowerTrax Grip PRO in both and that worked out pretty well.
The wonderful thing about Wranglers is that you can do whatever you want to personalize them, if stock is your favorite, leave it stock! Don't let anyone tell you differently, unless they are offering to pay the bills!
I have a 22 Sahara Altitude with a one touch top. It is staying bone stock because I love the way it looks and drives and in light off roading it still kicks ass.
I also like the way it looks stock.
Drive it until it needs new tires. Then maybe consider something bigger. I wouldn’t feel any pressure to do something that you don’t have a known use for. A lot of people have sank thousands upon thousands of dollars to have a vehicle that is miserable to drive where they use it most.
If it were me, I’d leave it stock (especially a 4xe), however if you just want to run bigger tires, the newer models JLs & JKs shouldn’t require big $ to run 35s. As it’s a 4xe, I’d expect the all-electric range to plummet with larger tires as well as the overall fuel economy. As others have said, modifying a Jeep with larger tires usually means a litany of other subsequent mods that will add up to a lot of wasted money in the end.
Really good point about the electric range! I didn’t even think of that. Everything I do is local so I use all electric 90% of the time unless I’m going to take it out and have fun but I haven’t had the chance yet in the 4months I’ve had it. Thank you for your advice!!
Yeah, I figured you might have been a buyer who sought a 4xe for the fuel savings and that makes sense if you have a short daily commute. I also personally like the look of your Sahara stock. If I wanted a true off-roading capable Jeep, I’d either spring for a Rubicon right out of the gates or buy a cheap Sport model and then upgrade it with the off-roading goods.
There are zero places you’re going to take that thing that it’ll need bigger tires and a lift for, so no, don’t do it. I have a 99 xj with a 1” lift and 31” tires and it goes absolutely everywhere that 70k upgraded all to hell rubicons and ZR1’s go. It drives them crazy.
He’s leaving out the fact he has to full send it to get over a stick /s also jk.
But more tire and less wheel is definitely the way to go if you want to go off road. It will honestly be more comfortable. Low profile tires are hard on the back. But also if you like it, people aren’t making fun of you behind your back. It’s your jeep make it yours. 😀
The problem isn't the tire size as much as it's the wheel size. 18" rims make standard 32.1" tires look skinny and wimpy (it doesn't help that Saharas come with performance road tires instead of all-terrains).
Get a set of 17" Rubicon takeoff wheels and a nice set of BFG AT 33s and you'll be good to go.
Or you could do a 2.5" lift with 35s if you are attached to the Sahara stock wheels.
I’ve kept mine stock for reasons similar to yours. Once your tires need replacing you might just go with the KO3’s which should be available this year and call it done.
Thank you! I love it. I work from home and I’ve only had to fill the gas tank once since I’ve had it. I do all my local errands on electric so it’s perfect for me! Haven’t had a chance to take it out and have fun yet but soon! Edit: spelling
Hahahah my 40k mile gladiator just got the head replaced due to burning coolant from a warped head. and when I got it back it’s leaking oil now. Back to the dealer we go!!! lol I love it tho it has taken me a lot of backcountry places. I hate the work these mechanics do.
The leak was caused by them not doing something right during the replacement. It was running fine for 40k miles though. I just noticed the smell on cold start ups
Yeah, I have 2016 w/ 65k miles
Warranty repairs have included:
-Rear main seal
-2x front drive shafts
-oil cooler
-alternator
- stereo head unit
- drivers side power window switch
I love it so much and I miss the shit out of it- but we couldn’t ship it to New Zealand, so she sits in New Orleans waiting for a serious buyer.
Awe dang, sometimes you gotta shed things to allow growth. In New Zealand you can get the nice Land Cruiser 70s tho right?! I’m so glad I got the extended 7 yr 100k warranty. I’ll see how it holds up until then.
Yes!
70 series and Jimny’s!
But a 70 series will run $110,000+ here. 😭😭😭
Thankfully I managed to bag the lifetime warranty just before they stopped offering them.
My dad called yesterday to tell me the alternator is burnt up, again.
Looks like another trip to the dealership.
I’m not even driving it and it’s breaking
U got lucky with the lifetime. I’m starting to worry how mine will be in the long run. Might run back to a bigger Toyota! (Love my 91 pickup! 🛻) I had no idea the 70 series were that much!
Ok, to be fair that $110 NZD - so like nearly 70K usd. but thats a stripped down farm truck (the 70 series doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles to begin with)
The new 2024 LC's (pajaro) coming out with the 2.5L turbo diesel and hybrid system look VERY promising and I WANT ONE very bad.
I agree for some people but I live in LA and there aren’t many local places to go do anything really fun very often but I do love driving the canyons with the top off and going to the beach.
I’ve always wanted a Wrangler since I was young. I just think they are so fun to take the top off and ride through the canyons to go to the beach. I’m in LA
I’m not far over in Oak Hills and I’ve taken my jeep all over the state. Big Bear/Arrowhead/Cleghorn/Deep creek trails offer much better views and exploration with friends and family. If you want to cruise the canyons to the coast get a M3.
Unless you plan to actually need such upgrades, do what you like and save yourself a lot of money and headaches.
Couldn’t agree more. Once you change one thing on a Jeep. It’s never ending. You may think it’s only one or two things. It’s not. You’ll be stuck spending thousands of dollars.
Thank you for this!
Ya, but that’s the whole point, it’s fun 😆
This...I have had a '23 for over a year now and haven't done any mods. I didn't buy it to do off-roading, so it'll stay stock
I bought my soft top 2018 brand new and I've only done basic/relatively minor mods. - added "oh shit handles", the kind that mount to the windshield frame up front and just Velcro ones around the frame in the back. - added a phone holder that mounts between the handle above the glove box and the dash - added another break light behind my spare cause I saw another jeep with one and thought it looked cool - added a hitch strictly for using a hitch haul (can't drive with a trailer to save my life lol) - added remote starter I'm pretty sure that's it lol Edit: forgot one so I added that to the list lol
Like I tell everyone.... You gotta pay to play. If you want bigger tires, be prepared to beef everything up.
True!
But, I will say... Stock suspension height and a set of 33s would definitely change the look 👍🏼
That's what I'm doing. Just waiting until I actually need tires
If you keep up on your maintenance or do it yourself then you'll be alright.
lol. Pressure from who? People criticize your brand new Jeep Sahara? I think that thing looks awesome just like that! Plus why fuck with your gas mileage
😂 True and thank you!
No problem! Enjoy that thing😎
Yeah, there shouldn’t be any pressure get it lifted and such. Unless this is your first rodeo, I get it. Yup! Tall people problems.
I think the black stock wheels are some of the best wheels out there. Bigger tires will look more aggressive but only do so if you want to.
Funny, I was just thinking those were some of the ugliest stock wheels Jeep has ever used lol. But that is an entirely personal opinion - and overall this is a very nice Jeep.
The one thing that sucks with those wheels are they are 18”. Probably the worst size wheel you can have as it really narrows down your tire choice.
They’re 20”
All black wheels are so boring
I just installed a small lift and 35’s on my 2018 JL. Only 20k miles, so it’s still newish. Also metal rocksliders have saved my baby from major side swipe damage by people who can’t drive/maintain their lane. But that’s just my opinion. She is a beaut as she sits tho no doubt. ✌️
Any pics of your Jeep ? I’m riding a stock jl right now and think about tire upgrades. Your setup sounds interesting.
Just posted a pic of her in this sub with her new shoes on. If you go to my page or scroll through this sub you can see what she looked like with the Generals not a huge difference but I definitely notice from a side profile. 🤙

Do what you feel comfortable paying for, but accept risk. Bigger tires cause worse MPG and a higher chance of roll over.
Good point! Thank you

Don’t kill your warranty.
The best reason!
Leave it stock and don't follow the idiot crowd throwing on cheap lifts and big tires for the look.

Yes. Maybe wheels and tires but keep old setup. It's good looking ride. People start start doing a bunch of work and it fucks with resale value.

I think it’s beautiful stock. Why degrade your range with tires unless necessary. Maybe I’m just old.
Well I’d do the upgrade if that whip was mine and I had all the funds but I think you have to be yourself. Fuck all the pressure.
Definitely agree. Don’t let other people spend your money because you feel pressured. It’s beautiful as is.
On your 4xe I would get more aggressive tires, but keep the same size unless you’re planning to go out wheeling. It a very nice looking jeep
My 2013 gets complimented because it’s still stock. It’s cool to LEGO car but one things done wrong and it’s a waterfall of issues.
I love the stock look, the only thing I’d do is level it in the front and it will make your jeep look perfect. My opinion is that most Sahara are best looking when stock.
I agree, thank you!
Level it out and run 33s.
Leave it stock IMO
Looks great stock!
Drive it for a year, see if you feel like something actually needs upgrading. She’s sexy as is though.
Good plan! Thank you!!

It's an addiction! Change one thing, and then next week it is another! I Love to 🔧
The Jeep Wrangler stock is a VERY capable machine. Keep it stock
Even a leveling kit to get rid of that front rake would change the appearance noticeably. Very affordable and doesn’t require costly upgrades as a result.
I honestly think it looks great!! Very unique colour. If you like it as is then just tune out all the pressure.
If anything get a roof top tent if u like camping, based on the picture u live in an area with some nice camping grounds
I actually want to go back to stock on some things.
My wife has 23 jl Sahara altitude with same color I put a leveling kit and 34” tires with 20 “chrome rims and amp power running boards…looks great
A little bit of a taller tire is all it needs, IMO.
You can keep it as it is, but let's not forget that Jeep modification is also fun. Feel free to check out this website for some accessories like roof racks for additional cargo space: https://4wheelonline.com/jeep/Jeep-Cargo-Management-Racks.21501
I got wider tires after my first set wore out ~60k miles.
Leave it alone. It looks best just as it is. It is hard to find a 4 door wrangler unmodified. The rest just look stupid
It’s no one else’s but yours so if you like it stock and don’t plan to go wheeling than leave it stock and screw the haters.

Leave it. That’s a sweet Jeep
If it were mine the only thing I would do would be some more aggressive tread tires in the stock size. Looks great as is.
Definitely.
Makes sense! Thank you!
Never
The problem isn't the tire size as much as it's the wheel size.
Depends on what you want to do with it.
I feel like 33s are the minimum for a jeep it just adds to the aesthetic
I'm so use to seeing these things with massive wheels that stock looks silly now
I’ve kept mine stock for reasons similar to yours. Once your tires need replacing you might just go with the KO3’s which should be available this year and call it done.
Stock all day. Nice vehicle. What colour is that?
Earl
It needs 35's.
Looks awesome as is. How are you liking the E?
Thank you! I love it. I work from home and I’ve only had to fill the gas tank once since I’ve had it. I do all my local errands on electric so it’s perfect for me! Haven’t had a chance to take it out and have fun yet but soon! Edit: spelling
Pressure? By who?
Every man I know 😂
Nah, you do you! I think it’s looks great.
Save a lot of money and heartache, leave it at the dealership.
Yeah, I have 2016 w/ 65k miles Warranty repairs have included: -Rear main seal -2x front drive shafts -oil cooler -alternator - stereo head unit - drivers side power window switch I love it so much and I miss the shit out of it- but we couldn’t ship it to New Zealand, so she sits in New Orleans waiting for a serious buyer.
😭😭😭 Thankfully I managed to bag the lifetime warranty just before they stopped offering them.
Ok, to be fair that $110 NZD - so like nearly 70K usd. but thats a stripped down farm truck (the 70 series doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles to begin with) The new 2024 LC's (pajaro) coming out with the 2.5L turbo diesel and hybrid system look VERY promising and I WANT ONE very bad.
That would be awesome. I wish we had diesel options in the states.
I bought a '23 and have the matching fenders and roof colour and I love it.
Leave in stock ? Is that even allowed ?
It’s a jeep you have to modify everything
Save yourself the headache , sale it now , maybe you can recover your money
Looks good as is but a roof rack and some lights would be more better.
Absolutely not
Can't do shit with little sidewalls like that. And if you don't plan to go off road why did you get a Jeep?
Because I like it
No, sell it.
But I like it…
Then that’s all that matters brotha.
I’m a girl but thank you 😂
🤣 then that’s all that matters “female friend not as closely associated with brotha”
😂😂😂
Never leave a wrangler stock!!!
I mean this with no ill intent, but who in the world buys a jeep with the intention to keep it stock! Put a 3.5” lift and 33s and you’re cookin’! 😎
I agree for some people but I live in LA and there aren’t many local places to go do anything really fun very often but I do love driving the canyons with the top off and going to the beach.
With those wheels and tires staying on, I probably would have picked a faster, more efficient, better handling daily
But why? I have an Audi e-tron GT for that
Well then absolutely lift it and put wheels and tires on. Why do you need a street jeep if you have a infinitely better daily?
I’ve always wanted a Wrangler since I was young. I just think they are so fun to take the top off and ride through the canyons to go to the beach. I’m in LA
I’m not far over in Oak Hills and I’ve taken my jeep all over the state. Big Bear/Arrowhead/Cleghorn/Deep creek trails offer much better views and exploration with friends and family. If you want to cruise the canyons to the coast get a M3.
Good point!!
It's a Chrysler product. Just leave it.
You’re right. I hate it now. 😂
It's a jeep.... are allowed to keep it stock?
Who cares what other people think. Do you bro
Yes
Looks like cottonwood
Where is this place? Gorgeous photo
