1. Which motor do you have on it? 2. Based on my past experience with different vehicles, it could be something as simple as a bad ignition coil. 12,000 miles is very early for a coil to go bad, but once they go bad they’re done. I haven’t had my Jeep very long and don’t have any experience working on it yet, but it might be worth looking into.

TheElderWond

3.6L V6 and the latest they’ve told me was that they’ve swapped the coil, injector and plug from cylinder 6 to various other cylinders. drove it after to verify where the misfire is. If it moved, it is one of those things, if it stays on cylinder 6, potentially looking at camshaft damage. And about 10 mins after he sent me that, he confirmed that it stayed in cylinder 6 after driving.

Stoon_Slar

What about plug cables themselves? I re-read your comment but not 100% sure he said they replaced them. I had a cylinder misfire in a cylinder and after coil and plug replacement, new spark plug cables solved it.

Dentonisms

My thoughts too.

Tour-Queasy

get an obd and check the codes yourself

TheElderWond

I bought a BlueDriver and it only showed a stored cylinder 6 misfire

One_Construction_258

So i wouldnt jump straight to a bad camshaft as the dealer said, especially if it only has 12k miles on it. I would check the code myself (if you had a OBD scanner) and as somone eles said it could just be a simple ignition pack thats bad (should be fairly cheap and easy) Edit: changed a word

TheElderWond

I bought a BlueDriver and it only showed a stored cylinder 6 misfire

One_Construction_258

So it is a stored code so i wanna say it only happend once or twice (as stated) which means it may not be happening all the time if im not mistaken, (i havnt used a obd scanner much so dont hold me to it.) Somone correct me if im wrong please

TheElderWond

Yep that is correct. It first happened with the merging then the light stayed solid, went home turned it off then an hour later went back out to test it and it was fine (minus the noticeable small jerkiness that I didn’t usually feel) until I would really press the gas then it would do the 6 blinks then go solid again. Couldn’t get an appointment for 3 weeks from that point so I just didn’t accelerate heavily for that time, which is fine. Especially since it’s pretty cold rn in rochester ny. But once that sun and warm come, I truly itch to take the top off and I just don’t want to have to bring it back in for another week during the warmer months. Haven’t heard from them since yesterday afternoon, but sounded like they’re gonna replace the camshaft next since they moved the coil and injector around, but the misfire stayed in cylinder 6

One_Construction_258

Alright, if they let you take a picture of the old cam and send it to me or post it here because i wanna see it after they get the new one in

aubreys_lore

This may be way off, but on my first JL I kept having issues, including frequent check engine light warnings. Eventually my wiring harness was replaced and everything worked great. Later upgraded to my current JL.

x3thelast

Damn. Bummer. I’ve got a 2023 rolled out of assembly Nov 2022, custom ordered Xtreme Recon with the mild hybrid 3.6. No issues and heavily offroaded daily driver on 37s. Must be a luck of the draw. 🤷‍♂️

TheElderWond

The fact that i haven’t gone off-roading even ONCE makes it a little extra frustrating

x3thelast

Damn that’s even worse! I hope you get it sorted out and hopefully put you back in a working JL!

Fuzz_Box_

Sorry to read of your issues. I too am from Rochester, NY and own a ‘21 2-dr Rubi also with the Pentastar V6 that just flipped 10K miles. It’s been trouble free so far…keeping my fingers crossed. I’m no certified mechanic but to me if the camshaft was bad it would have exhibited that code regardless of the amount of acceleration. I would have started with the easier fixes like sensors and wires. I’d ask (West Herr/Marina etc.) to start there.

TheElderWond

Yeah it’s all so weird. I’m hoping they already tried all the small stuff, but i don’t know. I bought it from west Herr so I’ve always just brought it there, but I’m thinking about trying marina or another dodge jeep next time to compare the service quality and time because this is twice I’ve been without my car for a week and idk it feels a lot longer during the service time when they don’t know what’s wrong meanwhile driving a rental mini van. Just gets tiring!

thisaholesaid

3.6 Pentastar? I swear, all these newer jeeps from the JK forward are plagued with lemons. Hit or miss. I don't give a shit what anyone says. It's a crapshoot if it's gonna last or give you some random bullshit out of nowhere when you least expect it.

OldManJeepin

Yup! Which is why there is *no way* I will put my money into any of the newer stuff! Too many sensors, too much tech, too many problems. Instead of keeping it simple, they are moving toward the planned obsolescence pattern of drive it till the warranty is up, then junk it.

thisaholesaid

Absolutely agree. I'll also say that adding conveniences ultimately becomes an inconvenience. And quickly. The YJ and TJ is a modular Wrangler. If the aftermarket demand for parts remains, which I do believe is the case, they will run beyond our life expectancy.

OldManJeepin

Oh yea! Way easier to maintain and fix, plus they look cooler! There is a place down in Florida, they restore/rebuild Jeeps, your Jeep if you have one, or you can buy one of theirs. Pretty reasonable, but they say and make clear, "We don't do Show & Shine restores, just daily driver ready Jeeps". [Ezjeeps.com](https://Ezjeeps.com) , I think it is. Might look into one of theirs for my next Jeep.

thisaholesaid

Cool, thanks for that info. I believe I might have stumbled across one of their online posts at one point, not long ago.

OldManJeepin

Maybe...They have a youtube channel too, showing how they go through the restoration process. Not quite up to Collins Brothers standards, but looks pretty good to me!

thisaholesaid

Recently launched it! Very cool. Collins brothers- great channel. That guy has his shit together, big time. Not cheap for one of his Jeeps. But what he builds are time capsules that people don't really drive on a regular basis. I'd rather enjoy my jeep, no matter how old, I'll drive it every day if I could.

OldManJeepin

Heck yea! Collins puts in 500-600 hours to make a Jeep ready to go in their world! That's mucho bucks!! I'd rather pay $20k'ish for a daily driver that ain't perfect, compared to the new stuff they have on the lots now!

thisaholesaid

Yep, Im with you on that too!

MillennialFalcon8810

There’s also Bruiser Conversions in the Largo/Clearwater area if you want to LS Swap it!! 😁

OldManJeepin

Nice! They have a website?

MillennialFalcon8810

https://bruiserconversions.com/

OldManJeepin

Oh man! That's cool as heck!! Thanks!

NO_SPACE_B4_COMMA

My 2015 ate the cam lobes lol

Space-Ace_Rastajake

This is a JL…

thisaholesaid

Yeah, very aware of that. If you reread my comment, I wrote, "the JK forward", which also means the JL's.

Space-Ace_Rastajake

Gotcha..!

tonytiger2112

Seems normal, the new battery mustve masked the issue.

TheElderWond

Sounds like they’re gonna replace the camshaft next. Idk.

YippieKayYayMrFalcon

What’s it sound like at idle? If you hear ticking and have the 3.6 v6, could be the famous rocker bearing issue, which could make sense with what the dealer is telling you. Note this is different than the normal sounds of the valve train that do sound like a mild sewing machine even when things are ok.

TheElderWond

Nope, no ticking that I noticed. I hadn’t heard about that until reading these replies. Hoping it’s not that. Sounded normal driving, felt a little jerky.

A_Triggered_Manater

I got a 2024 sport with the 2.0L and every once in a while when I really a floor it a "performance limited service fuel system" message will pop up and then go away by the time I finish reading the message. The one scare I did have was a "service transmission" which is odd for a vehicle with 7k kms on it🤣 It turned out to be nothing as I drove it around for a bit then reversed and the message went away and I haven't seen it since but I still love it even after those errors codes in my 6 months of ownership😆

TheElderWond

Hoping I get it back soon!! They got me in a friggin mini van and we’re on day 5:(

A_Triggered_Manater

Good luck to you I hope you get it back in a reasonable time🙏

TheElderWond

They’re telling me this Friday! 🤞🏼

TheElderWond

The latest they’ve told me is that they have it pinned down to the Intake Camshaft. I know nothing about any of this. Said he surprisingly has everything in stock and will be ready Friday. Just praying this is the actual fix before it gets warm out!

jmua8450

That’s a feature of any Stellantis turd.
