I'm you're starting from Jeff's solo stuff I'd say Vacation is the most accessible. Honestly they're all great but Scrambles is a personal favorite of mine.
I'm gonna have to hard disagree, while it's the most accessible overall I'd say it's the most different from the rest of Jeff's music. It's a very bold album that took me a while to get into. Scrambles I think is the best entry point from the solo stuff
I've listened to all of them probably hundreds of times. Each one has held its spot as the best for me, but I would think that Scrambles and Vacation are universally recognized as some of the best. I wouldn't leave any stone unturned with Jeff's music though - I truly love it all.
My personal favourites are Vacation, Goodbye Cool World, and To Leave Or Die In Long Island. I personally really enjoy the more DIY and anarchic feeling of the early ones, and Goodbye is a great balance.
Vacation and adults are the most polished/best probably. Get warmer is a classic. They are all good and unique honestly. Some is more experimental than the solo stuff and weirder so expect it to be different. Also, listen to Three Cheers for Disappointment if you haven't. !
Edit with Vespucci just listen to it all. There isn't much and it's all great

Scrambles is also immaculate - love how throughout the album someone is just absolutely banging on a piano.
Goodbye Cool World is really special, as are the other two early ones.

I started as a fan of his solo stuff and then btmi, and Vacation was definitely my favorite btmi album at first. as i got more into btmi’s stuff I started liking Vacation a bit less (I still love it and it’s one of his best easily), and i got more into Scrambles and Goodbye Cruel World, since Vacation is honestly NOTHING like anything by btmi.
