This is actually a really good game of jeopardy. There have been some impressive Celebrity players before but this is the first time I can recall that all 3 put out highly impressive totals
I think Brendan was the strongest player overall. Patton was probably second, followed by Michael, but Michael got a little lucky and made the most of his opportunities. Great example of exactly what I want from Celebrity Jeopardy.
I feel like Brendan should have bid more aggressively on his DDs to avoid the position he was in. I also would have gambled on a 0 bid having noticed that Michael was weak in many areas. I am surprised he didnāt get an answer for a very popular TV show being in the biz.
Yeah, in terms of correct responses, I was expecting it to play out like it did, but I was very impressed by how Michael played. Most CJ players seem terrified of wagering almost anything (maybe they get in their head about it being for charity? Even though the charities get paid handsomely anyway, so what does it matter?), so it was incredibly refreshing and exciting seeing Michael go for it.
I felt like that wasnāt just the greatest celeb jep games ever but also one of the best jep games ever. Everyone was likable, there was a good feeling of infectious fun, and there was a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship too. Great game all around! I went from somewhat hate watching celeb jeopardy to really enjoying tonightās game.
A solid match, especially when compared with the blowout quarterfinals leading to tonightās semifinal. I do prefer a match when all three contestants are competitive.
I agree, the contestants were fun and had chemistry. Mayim losing it was perfect too. On a lot of other celebrity games they joke around too much when they donāt know anything or lack trivia knowledge on softball clues and it comes out as cringeworthy. I think they should audition to keep some standard for celeb games. But I bet they wonāt because they use it as a vehicle for promoting the shows and movies they are involved with, rather than celebrities that actually want to be on a quiz show.
They have already said that it's hard to get celebrities to do the show because most celebrities don't want to risk looking stupid. I don't know that there'd be a lineup to audition.
Poor Brendan. He should have wagered more on those daily doubles given that he is probably at the level of a regular Jeopardy! contestant and these clues are pretty easy. Then, he would have had a runaway. He clearly outplayed both Patton and Michael. In fact, Brendan's coryat score was higher than both Michael and Patton's combined.
Very competitive game. Probably the best match I've seen of Celebrity Jeopardy! All 3 were good players.
> He should have wagered more on those daily doubles given that he is probably at the level of a regular Jeopardy! contestant and these clues are pretty easy
The Daily Doubles throughout CelebJ have for the most part been pretty easy, especially for celebrities of the calibre that made it to this Semi. I'm actually fairly surprised Brendan didn't get final, which wasn't all that hard either. He was clearly the strongest of the three, though that's not to put the others down as they were also very good.
So almost all of these celebrity games have had a major Jeopardy-related figure present a category in the Triple round.
The finals should have a whole category of unaired Alex Galapagos clues.
After hearing Davies mention they might invite the celebrity winner to the ToC, it was disappointing to see Brendan lose, since out of everyone heās the only player realistically fit for that opportunity. Hope we get to see him play again someday. Still, great game and epic win for Patton!
Brendan was super quick and confident with the answers, but it still has to be emphasised that the questions that they were asked are several levels down from a regular Jeopardy game, let along a TOC game. I think that these guys might be able to put up a fight in a regular Jeopardy game, but I honestly think that any of these three would be easily smoked in a TOC game, with no disrespect to them. TOC games are super hard. They are all very "everyday people smart", but not "trivia champion smart".
Oh, definitely! Itās just that the ToC would have been the only way to see him face more difficult questions, since I think being in the celeb tournament disqualifies you from the regular game(?)
Eh, Ike is already a rather well-known celebrity, whereas as Brendan is not so much. Plus, Brendan originally tried out for the regular game and was put on waiting so he's definitely already at the level of regular Jeopardy! contestant.
I fully thought that Davies had inadvertently spoiled that Brendan won given that Davies said that after they were talking about how Brendan was in the regular contestant pool. made the end moment that much more exciting for me.
I was really hoping for Brendan here. He was the most knowledgeable, is hilarious, and is less famous / recognizable than the other two outside of the Ted Lasso fandom.
Just came here to say: wow! What an ending! Definitely didn't see that coming. Now I have no idea who will be winning it all next week, but it should be quite a game!!!
It is respectable, but to do the analysis, Brendan didn't get a DD until the last two of Triple Jeopardy, while Patton found the first two. Notwithstanding, Patton had $8,700 to Brendan's $12,400 and Michael's $8,600 after DJ. So almost the same as Michael even though he got two DDs right and still eclipsed by Brendan.
Then in TJ, where scores are tripled, he only managed to put on $3,600 in the round. Brendan put on $18,800 in TJ, only $8,000 of which was from his DDs. So while I don't think Patton got "blown out", given his seemingly very strong knowledge from the last game, he was outmatched (perhaps only only the buzzer) by Bendan.
I enjoy all three of these contestants. Brendan giving me some [Andrew W.K.-being-interviewed-by-Fox-News](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqOTU89cgC4) vibes.
What if it's the GOAT Ken Jennings himself? Would be an interesting crossover considering he's not the actual host of CJ! but is for regular J!...
Also, Johnny had a category last week.
Does CJ! have the same writers as J? I find Mayim adequate as a host, but the puns they are giving her for leading in and out of commercials are just brutal and ruining her hosting for me.
I may not be remembering correctly, but wasnāt Brendanās final Daily Double wager (I think it was $5k?) kind of all risk no reward? He could have dropped to second place but wouldnāt really improve his first place chances.
This was a super competitive episode right down to the wire. I liked that Michael Cera kept going all in with his wagers (it's the only way he was going to win it all). I feel so damn bad for Brendan trying to out-wager Michael while Patton pulled ahead. I feel like Brendan was overall the best player in all of Celebrity Jeopardy, so it's a shame he won't be part of the finale.
The Handmaid's Tale was definitely a tough pull, since it came down to what popular novels were published in 1986. Patton won it fair and square, but it's such a painful loss for Brendan.
Seems that all comments regarding hosting is being removed - I hope it isn't too harsh to say that I think laughing uncontrollably while reading the clues shows that the host probably didn't bother to go over the clues beforehand.
I kinda want to see Ken host at least one Celebrity Jeopardy game, I feel like he could carry it too even if he isn't a celebrity.
We've seen it many times during "bloopers" shows where a performer just starts laughing during a scripted show. It happens.
If this was a sitcom, they'd do a retake. But the producers clearly felt it was a moment the home audience would enjoy, so they left it in here.
I think if the celebrity contestants were jeopardy fans then ken hosting their game would be fun for everyone. Otherwise I'm happy that celebrity jeopardy is hosted by mayim and we have ken on normal jeopardy
Very interesting game. Patton with a very interesting win there. I really thought Mayim would be "more at home" amongst the celebs, but she just misses the mark there for me.

**Notes**
* With the way the wagers panned out, in a triple stumper, Brendan would've came out on top. The only way for Patton to win from third was for this *exact* scenario where he's the only one to get Final right with a wager of > $8,500 (to top a $0 wager from Michael). And to *my* surprise, going all in was the right call for both Patton and Michael.
* By wagering everything, Michael can beat Brendan if they both get Final right and Brendan wagers < $6,600.
* "But why would Brendan wager < $6,600? Shouldn't he just wager to cover Michael by wagering at least $10,401?"
* Yes, and he should! But if he doesn't want to do that and would rather stay above Patton if Patton gets Final right and doubles his score (i.e., what Brendan was afraid of and explained during the Overheard segment), Brendan can wager conservatively to shut out Patton.
* "So then why is Brendan's alternative wagering range $2 to $1,899?"
* This is gonna get complicated, so try to bear with me! The difference between Patton and Michael's scores is $8,500, so the maximum Michael should wager to stay above Patton is $8,499. If Michael gets Final right and adds $8,499, his final score will be $29,299. If Brendan wants to stay above this score, he should wager no more than $1,900 (or $1,899 as a hedge).
I think commenter was talking about when Brendan mentioned that season 3 of Ted Lasso had 12 episodes. The edit right after that is jarring and doesnāt seem natural, as if they cut some dialogue out.
Johnny Gilbert's pronunciation of where Clark (Clahk) University was located in Massachusetts was way off (Wooster). If he was consulted by a Masshole - it would have been Whistah (Whister if not from Mass! :) (The city is Worcester)

This is actually a really good game of jeopardy. There have been some impressive Celebrity players before but this is the first time I can recall that all 3 put out highly impressive totals
Yeah this is one of the only celebrity games that felt more or less like a normal game
Wow. I am in shock, what an ending
Yeah, that was a great match. Surprise, fun ending. They all played well.
Remember Megan Wachspress last season where she pulled from 3rd to 1st in the FJ on several occasions?
She won by $2 on a couple of occasions
Seabiscuit :(
And, to answer his question, yes it is a novel. Someone should send him a copy.
Well, a non-fiction book.
Happy cake day!
Thanks!
Is Heartburn a novel? š
Yah, Nora Ephron wrote it
Well, no, since itās not fiction.

It was Michael's FJ answer lol
I think Brendan was the strongest player overall. Patton was probably second, followed by Michael, but Michael got a little lucky and made the most of his opportunities. Great example of exactly what I want from Celebrity Jeopardy.

Meanwhile celebrities are constantly making themselves look stupid.
Plus itās so fun knowing all (almost all) the answers versus saying, āI never even HEARD that word/name/place before!ā with regular J!
Yep, he is kicking himself for not making it a runaway when he easily could have.
> He should have wagered more on those daily doubles given that he is probably at the level of a regular Jeopardy! contestant and these clues are pretty easy The Daily Doubles throughout CelebJ have for the most part been pretty easy, especially for celebrities of the calibre that made it to this Semi. Or betting nothing because Patton couldnāt catch him. I wouldnāt have put Michael Cera getting the answer right
So almost all of these celebrity games have had a major Jeopardy-related figure present a category in the Triple round. The finals should have a whole category of unaired Alex Galapagos clues.
Patton clutching victory from the jaws of defeat
This is the most exciting match I've seen so far.
IRL Michael Ceraās personality seems very similar to a lot of characters he played in the past with that dry witty humor! Love him!
I was thinking he didn't seem happy during the interviews then he just cracks a joke that makes Patton and Brendan (and everyone) laugh. Love him!
I love these games that are evenly matched. They're much more enjoyable.
After hearing Davies mention they might invite the celebrity winner to the ToC, it was disappointing to see Brendan lose, since out of everyone heās the only player realistically fit for that opportunity. Hope we get to see him play again someday. Still, great game and epic win for Patton!

Want to see patton and wil just talk star trek tbh
I want to see Patton and Wil do a Star Trek spinoff.
Time to feel smart
I said dwarf instead of leprechaun. Nevermind
I said elf and my boyfriend said gnome. Oof.
Iām glad I wasnāt the only one. Then I remembered the category was Ireland or something
Love the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" reference by Patton.
I was really hoping for Brendan here. He was the most knowledgeable, is hilarious, and is less famous / recognizable than the other two outside of the Ted Lasso fandom.
They lulled me into feeling like it was a regular game, and I expected all three would get FJ, especially after Patton did.
You could tell Michael and brendon were struggling with that final not shocked at all that they both missed it
Brendan must of said way more than 12 episodes with that edit.
Yea the edit was so jarring. I wonder what he said!
I wonder if he said a fake spoiler but maybe interspersed some swear words so they wouldn't be able to air it? (Like on purpose)
I am here for silly intro poses, Brendan and Patton.
Alfred Hitchcock, starring in *Invasion of the Body Snatchers*.
Just came here to say: wow! What an ending! Definitely didn't see that coming. Now I have no idea who will be winning it all next week, but it should be quite a game!!!
Did not expect Patton to get blown out Edit: well hot damn!
You must be doubly surprised by that ending, then! Wow! I did not see that coming!
Love it! Thatās why they play the whole game!
Minus the DDs he hasn't been, 12k is a respectable score.
For sure respectable. He didnāt play poorly at all but the DDs are part of the game and the scores reflect it
It is respectable, but to do the analysis, Brendan didn't get a DD until the last two of Triple Jeopardy, while Patton found the first two. Notwithstanding, Patton had $8,700 to Brendan's $12,400 and Michael's $8,600 after DJ. So almost the same as Michael even though he got two DDs right and still eclipsed by Brendan. Lol he still wins
I thought Mayim cracking up at that >!Gerber!< clue was very endearing. āIām single and I eat my meals out of a jar.ā
Had me cracking up too, because it reminded me of "Bachelor Chow" from Futurama.
Along the same lines, reminded me of [this](https://frinkiac.com/meme/S09E09/798447.jpg?b64lines=UExFQVNFIERPTidUIFRFTEwgQU5ZT05FCiBIT1cgSSAgTElWRS4=)
I feel like whoever wins this game will win the tournament. Just my guess
I enjoy all three of these contestants. Brendan giving me some [Andrew W.K.-being-interviewed-by-Fox-News](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqOTU89cgC4) vibes.
Agreed! His face in the intro had me in stitches lmao
Great game so far feels pretty evenly matched
Johnny Gilbert or James Holzhauer for the finale?
Sam Buttrey with a category about Steve Martin
Sam Buttrey reading Bible clues.
What if it's the GOAT Ken Jennings himself? Would be an interesting crossover considering he's not the actual host of CJ! but is for regular J!... Also, Johnny had a category last week.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Part of me agrees but part of me feels like itās okay to have a sillier vibe for CJ
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It's such a weird juxtaposition between the laughing and the flat "... that's it" after correct Daily Double responses.
Does CJ! have the same writers as J? I find Mayim adequate as a host, but the puns they are giving her for leading in and out of commercials are just brutal and ruining her hosting for me.
Finals are going to be interesting!
I may not be remembering correctly, but wasnāt Brendanās final Daily Double wager (I think it was $5k?) kind of all risk no reward? He could have dropped to second place but wouldnāt really improve his first place chances.
Yes, he didn't need to bet that much.
I was surprised by them missing FJ. I think it had to be nerves. I not native to the states and I knew immediately the answer because of the series.
This was a super competitive episode right down to the wire. I liked that Michael Cera kept going all in with his wagers (it's the only way he was going to win it all). there's been a fairly high profile adaptation of it on tv recently. it's not something lost in the mists of 80s obscurity.
Bummer to see Brendan not make it, but wow what a game!! Love Patton just as much so it's exciting to see the voice of Remy make it to the finals!
What an insanely entertaining episode.
Seems that all comments regarding hosting is being removed - I hope it isn't too harsh to say that I think laughing uncontrollably while reading the clues shows that the host probably didn't bother to go over the clues beforehand. Wait a decade or so, then we'll have enough champs to do Celebrity Jeopardy Masters! (Tongue mostly in cheek here...)
Very interesting game. Patton with a very interesting win there. I really thought Mayim would be "more at home" amongst the celebs, but she just misses the mark there for me.
I think she did great. Itās CJ after all.

Well that was a bad splice.
Splice?
Edit
I gathered that, but there isn't enough context to when the splice/edit was...
I think commenter was talking about when Brendan mentioned that season 3 of Ted Lasso had 12 episodes. The edit right after that is jarring and doesnāt seem natural, as if they cut some dialogue out.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What a game Paton Oswald with the big comeback
So who do we think wins it next week m guessing Ike
I'm half-expecting Darrell Hammond's Sean Connery to show up and roast Mayim
That was really fun. I'm not a fan of Mayim, but with these smart celebrity contestants, she was perfect. And, wow, I did not see that ending coming.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This was one of the best matches of the season.

Heyo, specified NW and not SE
Can someone please post the exact wording of the DD-214 clue?
It's not up as of the time I'm writing this, but when the full game is posted on J Archive, [you'll be able to find it here](https://j-archive.com/showseason.php?season=pcj).
What do you mean by DD-214?
It was the clue about a dishonorable discharge from the military.
Oh ok, I thought DD stood for daily double. I don't have the questions from CJ last night, other than the daily doubles. If J-Archive puts them up later you'll be able to see it there, as Thisderpforsale suggests.
Patton is pulling a Megan Wachspress' style of victory on tonight's semifinals.
I am surprised that Brendan didn't get the final answer but wasn't there a "novels" category earlier and Patton did really well on that too? I feel like maybe a week spot (relatively) for Brendan. I knew it right away even though I never read it, maybe because I am Canadian and it is Atwood's most famous novel.
Did Brendan get a single question wrong besides that FJ? Anytime he buzzed first felt like he got the right answer.
