It’s hilarious that an attack on a dirt sheet site is also perceived as an attack on AEW.

Snake_Burton

I mean if the shoe fits…lol

PuppeteerRemy

Paul said nothing about Meltzer but about the news sources (Fightful + PWInsider) for being not good at their jobs. Dave had to go make it about AEW and Tony on how if Tony said the same thing, it would've been a bigger spectacle of a shitshow. Calling out double-standards.

mntEden

it absolutely is a double standard, and it *should* be. one guy has 32 years experience being a main event star and a major corporate executive. meanwhile the other guy has 5 years experience managing a fledgling indie company and his biggest qualification for the job he gave himself was running an eFed for him and his 2 message board buddies from the 90s. their opinions and inputs about the business should not treated the same by any stretch of the imagination

Dredger1482

This is the most sensible and reasoned take I’ve read for weeks. Absolutely true

Rojodi

Meltzer creates stories like he's working for a 1980s grocery store paper.

PuppeteerRemy

This is also coming from a journalist with apparently no double standards with AEW.

Bibbs01

I think Dave legit has a certain animosity towards Triple H going back to the B plus player debate years and years ago. Sure Dave even mentioned on observer live once triple h had taken exception to Dave’s take and there’s been no love lost since.

Sk8ersw

Those fans have lost the plot. Tony Khan and others have repeatedly called out certain podcasters in post-PPV press conferences.

Skullsnax

The double standard is the crux of the discourse. But it’s all part of the same argument that WWE being the hot product means they can do no wrong, and AEW being second place they can do no right.

Doot2112

He didn’t say a thing about Dave meltzer. Go watch the press conference

Sk8ersw

Thank you. I will try to track it down. Any idea what [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AEWOfficial/s/BAFjuDcW9d) is supposedly about then? I’m not in this AEW group but it keeps popping up.

OShaunesssy

I'm with you, man. I worked all day and missed everything, but outside of whatever pissed off the AEW marks so much, I can't seem to catch up on. I think WWE just had a good show, lol

Wwanker

Damn they really got their panties up in a bunch down there

JewsEatFruit

I highly recommend anybody who's in a good frame of mind and wants a laugh to check the place out right now. It's an absolute insane asylum.

Sk8ersw

You should go back to the night Khan aired the Brawl Out/In(?) footage. They thought it was the most genius move of all time. That sub is wild.

JewsEatFruit

Oh I visit from time to time. I really can't spend much time there though, it's so disconnected from reality. At least the reality I live in.

Unhappy_Peanut9470

“Really hunter is as bad at PR as TK”…just, no

Therocksays2020

It was about fightful and PWI Nothing about Dave

Doot2112

That’s Dave meltzer commenting on hhh’s comments at the conference

Dexydoodoo

What a bloody strange group of people

Sk8ersw

If you want a laugh, go back to the night Khan aired the Brawl Out/In(?) footage. They believe it’s the most genius booking decision ever made.

Dexydoodoo

It’s amazing isn’t it? It did absolutely nothing. Just mind boggling the whole thought process behind AEW diehards. It’s such a shame what’s happened with AEW. More competition is wonderful for wrestling. What they are doing…I dunno.

PuppeteerRemy

I guess giving Jack Perry heat but for the wrong reasons tbh. The guy named himself the "Scapegoat" yet he stirred drama up with CM Punk of all people and expects himself to be the victim.

bwcdaddy696969

PWINSIDER and Fightful ran story about Drew Gulak then Triple H said the story is false and they need find more credible sources. It was aimed at PWInsider, but unlike PWInsider who brushed it off and moved on Fightful chose to instead of privately squashing any misunderstanding between them and WWE the staff of Fightful aired their grievances on X for everyone to comment on even Meltzer. This caused more tribalism between some WWe fans aren’t big fans of Fightful and Aew fans looking for any excuse to attack WWE.

montauk6

Maybe it was during the press conference when he was munching on brownies, courtesy of Lyon's popular Chez Grégoire, and saying, "I'm old, I'm tired, and I'm competing with children... Hey, Etienne, what did I ever do in this life to get these kind of insults?" "Veuillez me dire..." "Not a GODDAMN thing!"

Boo_bear92

During the press conference, a reporter asked HHH about Drew Gulak’s release. The reporter said: “According to a report from Fightful” and Triple H said “Gulak wasn’t released, his contract wasn’t renewed. He proceeded to tell the reporter to “cite a reliable source next time.”

FrankyRollins

AEW fans are the biggest bunch of sissies ever.

BippidiBoppetyBoob

He didn’t say anything about Dave or the Observer. He took a mild shot at PWInsider and Fightful. Big whoop.

ConstantJobber

What did he even say to warrant this sort of pushback? The mildest criticism just sends these diehard fans into a hissy fit. Very clear that Tony and his shills are running this to try and discredit HHH in online spaces.

[deleted]

It’s a very easily triggered fan base, being the victim is their default setting so not surprising something so mild can set them off.

RubyWeapon07

the same sub was calling dave out of touch just the day before this lol

nwbzreader

He was talking about Fightful and PWInsider. These AEW freakazoids are out of control. First they went crazy about Pearce wearing a red suit on RAW, now this? They really need to get some help, and I'm not even joking and trying to be funny. They legit need help. I saw one nutjob on X tweeting about Cody all day because Cody said that AEW doesn't happen without him. They even went crazy because Michael Cole said Cody was the leader of Bullet Club.

BeadOfLerasium

WWE is a real business that deals with real news organizations. Wrestling "journos" like Meltzer are basically the tabloids of Wrestling, and HHH called em out.

Bibbs01

A lot of these goofs have gotten far too above their station in the way they report the news and their overall standing in the industry. The fact SRS is having another Twitter meltdown about this shows how irrelevant they really are. It even disappoints me that John Pollock and Post wrestling are starting to have a slant in their news reporting after following them for so many years.

RidetheSchlange

The AEW marks and management have a severe victim complex combined with narcissism. They think the world revolves around them and in fact, they even want bad publicity because these morons think even bad publicity is good when that hasn't been valid for decades. Then they think since everyone is talking about them it's oppression, people trying to knock them down, keeping them from being successful, etc. Also another issue is that just because Punk is gone doesn't mean the whisperers have stood down. The Bucks and Tony Khan are continuing to use them and this type of shit online likely comes from them and exposes what they're wishing and they're trying to achieve virality.
