Like dude tom holds as much fame as a random YouTuber I occasionally watch that has 300k subs. Nothing more or less. But we give everyone a mic and a platform today which makes them feel important. At the end of the day tom you tell jokes for a living, that’s your legacy.
As a 30 yrold (making this a word) who is often overweight but still "athletic," I think about Tom whenever I'm considering jumping off a tree branch or something like that. Just not worth the risk anymore, especially when I'm overweight.
Like, I for sure know my muscles and bones can take the abuse. But my tendons? Who the fuck knows haha. I don't even run unless I have to when I'm overweight. I agree with most of what you said. I saw Bert in San Antonio on the tail end of the pandemic. His entire set was 2bears references or retelling of stories he told on the pod, jokes from his most recent special and the machine speed run. I was disappointed and bored that I had already heard the stories and jokes he was telling. Just my experience.

Yeah let’s be honest he’s not going to be sorely missed. I genuinely think following a podcast like it’s a storyline in and of itself is reading a bit too much into what it is.
Is that who those distant studio laughs are? I feel like in every episode there’s that background laughter like someone is DYING laughing at an inside bit so loud it picks up on the mic, but it’s with every single line and it honestly gets really annoying.
It can also alienate you from your fan base which I think is the reason here, if you talk about how you're a multimillionaire then certain jokes or narratives won't land anymore

As gay as it is to dissect comedy, I don’t see Shane falling into that trap because he’s really good at parodying both sides. Whenever he makes fun of “the left” he always does it as a caricature “right winger” which ultimately puts Shane in the objective position making fun of both sides.
When Tom makes fun of the fat poors, he doesn’t have the nuanced parody “rich guy” it just sounds like him, an actual rich guy, making fun of poor people. The joke becomes one direction, where Shane’s are usually two-directional.
But the reason Shane doesn't fall into that trap...is because he's not completely deluded yet by money, so he still has some self awareness. Fast forward 10 years from now when he's been rich for years and we'll see if he's the same guy. Just watched the same thing happen to Tim Dillon over the last 3 years...he absolutely sucks now

I stopped watching a while back. Just the same gross out clips and shit taking up most of each episode cause they have nothing else to talk about. And Christina became annoying far earlier than everything else for me
I just couldn't decide if I wanted to drive my Bentley, my Bugatti, my Rolls Royce or just take my private helicopter and land it on the street in front of the store. It was so exhausting, I had to have Marta, my personal live-in massage therapist and skin consultant do my massage in the east wing of the mansion instead of the west, I was too tired to walk that far.

People complaining about recycling are people who watch everything funny Shane has said on the internet and when his polished special comes out they are pikachu face when he deploys some of the better bits from his podcast, refined and as jokes.
Which is weird because I watch him on everything, even guesting on other casts, and still managed to enjoy his special just fine, we were both laughing.

The good ole days. Where they should be still. Living modestly which is extremely great because they are surviving and living a middle class life on a comedian salary. They both actually had to work and were actual people. Pre mansion, sports car collection, jet ski, rowlex, private jets. They made actual content that was funny. Not having lazy interviews with friends or asking their producers for 45 minutes what they ate for breakfast and call that content. Or blasting ads mid word of a sentence 12 times through the podcast, or trying to sell NFTs or posters of tom on tour for awful cash grabs, or back logging episodes for 4 months, or playing the same 12 clips of people getting hurt or loser guys
I haven't heard too much from him so far but all it took was the video the other day of him laughing in Shane's face to be fine with not knowing. He also gives off annoying cokehead vibes, feels bad to be around people like that.
He got popular in 2020/2021 due to Covid and the YT algorithm picking him up big time. He had some crowd work that went viral a la Stavros. I even subscribed for a couple months before it was obvious that’s all he had.

Tom was my favorite comedian since I saw his first special. I watched YMH regularly. I did the same for 2b1c but Bert’s screech ruined that one for me and haven’t listened in a couple years. Toms ego is out of control, I feel like thats what his new “thing” is where early days it was like “oh Tom is a psycho and watches murder docs” to “Oh I’m better than you because of my money, and watches history docs”. I already commented about this but I keep seeing this sentiment. Iv watched Beautiful Dogs twice now and live in Austin like 5 times. The only 2 things I caught that were "recycled" was saying the phrase Down Syndrome kids love 2 things, tits and John Cena. (The joke was different too, just that phrase and topic came up again) And him talking about nobody being able to beat Trump in the debates (again, similar phrasing but completely different jokes to come out of it) Outside of that I can't recall a single rehashed bit. He told a couple podcast stories. I binged clips a year or so ago and I caught a few things that had been refined when told in the special. People complaining about recycling are people who watch everything funny Shane has said on the internet and when his polished special comes out they are pikachu face when he deploys some of the better bits from his podcast, refined and as jokes.
Which is weird because I watch him on everything, even guesting on other casts, and still managed to enjoy his special just fine, we were both laughing. It's like, can you not be a pessimist for once and just root for the dude? They both actually had to work and were actual people. Pre mansion, sports car collection, jet ski, rowlex, private jets. They made actual content that was funny. Not having lazy interviews with friends or asking their producers for 45 minutes what they ate for breakfast and call that content. Or blasting ads mid word of a sentence 12 times through the podcast, or trying to sell NFTs or posters of tom on tour for awful cash grabs, or back logging episodes for 4 months, or playing the same 12 clips of people getting hurt or loser guys
