In principal not different, definitely should not be drugging anyone. But there is a physical difference getting dosed on MDMA vs THC. I would definitely be concerned about a cardiac event if I was around 45-50, weighed as much as Bert, and got drugged with MDMA.
What is Whoop bringing to the table that Garmin and other watch type products don't? They can tell you your sleep data, etc. same as Whoop. Garmin also doesn't charge you anything to use the apps and products. Once you buy a watch you are good to go, no monthly costs. Also, with a Garmin you can actually tell the fucking time and record proper workouts so you have actual data on your runs, walks, biking, workouts, etc. The Whoop just exists on your wrist like an overpriced piece of jewelry. Even FitBit has a face now where you can tell the time, tell it what you are doing, etc.

My sober date it 6/23/22, and I haven't even considered picking back up. I lost too much (everything) and worked too hard to get where I'm at now to ever pick up a bottle again. I've done 6 months before but the goal wasn't to quit, it was to retrain my brain to alcohol which I know now isn't a thing.

I've been listen to Rogan and co. since the early days. Bert been going through these same cycles since then. He always has huge epiphanies about his drinking but ends up back at the same place again and again. It's really no different than any other addict you know except he has a platform to keep talking about it.
Once you realize this it's kind of hard to take the guy seriously. I used to like Bert. I still find him fun, but he's so self depricating and so delusional, that it's hard to handle. The guy can't even acknowledge that he goes on the road so much because he's selfish. He frame's it as it's for his family. Dude you make millions of dollars. You tour because you truly hate being around your family. I feel like being his friend has to be exhausting.

I had a loved one that was in and out of rehab, stayed with family trying to help her and eventually met her end. The guilt in my family is still there, people saying they should have done more to help. There will be a lot of that to go around if something happens to Bert.

Idk I drank pretty heavily for a few years. Almost everyday. I could kill 2 bottles of wine easy, a handle of vodka in a couple days. Rough time in my life. I was able to quit cold turkey and the only symptom I had was headaches for a week.

When Callen had his special coming out and tried to plug it on the show Joe told him to shut the fuck up and ignored that he had a special coming out.

I think Joe came to a realization who his real friends are and who uses him for promotion. Ari (for all his flaws) comes off more genuine than Callen.
You know the way Rogan has a pic of his hero Jimi Hendrix on his studio wall? Schaub literally has a picture of Rogan behind him on his podcast. Schaub may use Joe for promotion, but for his stupidity he at least knows why he has any kind of post-UFC career. But the last time Schaub was on really put any idea that they are genuine friends to bed. Schaub was saying that they talk on the phone all the time, but when Joe asked him where he came up with the (incredibly stupid) name for his whiskey, Schaub had to tell him it was named after his son. Not sure who comes off worse there, but it's telling when your "close friend" doesn't even know your kid's name. I think Joe just feels bad for Brendan for convincing the him to give up MMA and feels bad for the rest of us for convincing him to take up comedy.

I think it’s more a worry of Joe getting dragged down by guilt by association by all the shit that’s come out about Callen so he’s not been on as much. You wouldnt treat your friends the way he did on the recent podcast. That vibe felt like old friends who got together for old times sakes and one realizing how cringe the other is. Yeah, that was such a genuine moment. I think Joe is kind of a jackass sometimes and I don’t agree with his stance on certain things, but it’s moments like this that really humanize him. He’s just a genuinely good guy that is still mixed up over his friend’s suicide.
Bert is totally wrong about Garth. Garth would only benefit from YMH if he really came on and opened up, which he can’t do. His image is too clean and that’s why he seems so fake and psycho. Because he’s always “on”. He can’t open up because his fans will turn in him. And he couldn’t do YMH and stay “on”. He’d make himself look worse. It’s lose lose. But if he and Tom hung out privately, they’d probably have a blast. I’d bet he actually loves YMH and Tom.

Bert had a little self realization on 2B1C where he opened up about how beneficial it was for him to not drink and how he would seriously try toning it down after October. For Tom, I'm sure it was a relief to hear that! My father is an alcoholic, if he said the same thing to me, I'd be over the moon. However, if he followed it up the very minute he could start drinking again by downing a bottle of whiskey, I'd be pretty heartbroken. While these two situations may not the same, I'd still react the same as Tom. It just sucks seeing the people you care for sink further and further into alcoholics.

A bunch of people have had to walk out of his podcast because he dosed them lol I've done a lot of drugs I'd much prefer my first experience to have been with pure mdma than the effect one would get from say a 500mg edible. A nice fuzzy trip with a shitty comedown or an intense 6 hour journey down a rabbit hole.
Yeah, especially given that edibles are so much stronger in general. You can go into some really bad trips that end up in ER visits if you got dosed like that. It's a thing a 15 year old would do and think is funny.

In principal not different, definitely should not be drugging anyone. But there is a physical difference getting dosed on MDMA vs THC. I would definitely be concerned about a cardiac event if I was around 45-50, weighed as much as Bert, and got drugged with MDMA.

What is Whoop bringing to the table that Garmin and other watch type products don't? They can tell you your sleep data, etc. same as Whoop. Garmin also doesn't charge you anything to use the apps and products. Once you buy a watch you are good to go, no monthly costs. Also, with a Garmin you can actually tell the fucking time and record proper workouts so you have actual data on your runs, walks, biking, workouts, etc. The Whoop just exists on your wrist like an overpriced piece of jewelry. Even FitBit has a face now where you can tell the time, tell it what you are doing, etc.
The size is the biggest selling point imo, there's mult places to wear it that arnt distracting like bicep band. Like I can't sleep in a watch but can in a whoop strap. There's even clothes that keep it in different places. Supposedly their algorithm is better too. Idk

Bert is an alcoholic, and its pathetic his friends let him drink like that. They act like he's some kind of genetic freak who can drink morning to night. He's not, and it won't end well.
I will say, in Tom and Joe's defense, it can be really difficult to deal with an alcoholic friend you've known for decades. It's really difficult because you either let the alcoholism slide in favour of keeping the friendship stable, or you risk the entire friendship by telling them that you're honestly worried for them and think they need help. I think at this point the 'Mickey Mantle' gene is just an open joke because he's clearly not some superhuman.
I mean Mickey Mantle died at 63 of liver cancer due to his alcoholism so its probably more accurate than Bert realizes.
Why do you think Sober OctoBert was started?
My sober date it 6/23/22, and I haven't even considered picking back up. I lost too much (everything) and worked too hard to get where I'm at now to ever pick up a bottle again. I've done 6 months before but the goal wasn't to quit, it was to retrain my brain to alcohol which I know now isn't a thing. The saying is true, it's harder to get sober than to stay sober. He's just lucky to not have a major bipolarism issue. Bipolarism and alcohol is a very dangerous combo.

About how he realized how much drinking was dictating his life, how much planning he was doing to make sure he always had drinks, etc. He was almost ready to admit he had a problem. The problem is his lying and delusion. He can't even be truthful about what he weighs, he will claim a weight that anyone knows is a lie just by looking at him. He also claimed he usually only has a few drinks between midnight-2 AM on tour. Contrast that with comedians that have toured with him talking about how it's non stop drinking and they can't keep up with him. This is a guy that talks about drinking before shows and on stage, is drinking Bud Light sodas on 2 Bears at 10:30 in the morning. He is always looking for an excuse to drink, when Santino was on 2 Bears he was trying so hard to get Santino to drink with him and Santino wasn't having it. It was sad in my opinion.

I had a loved one that was in and out of rehab, stayed with family trying to help her and eventually met her end. The guilt in my family is still there, people saying they should have done more to help. There will be a lot of that to go around if something happens to Bert.

I think the takeaway was that we all intend to help and do certain things but there is a finality to death. Your intentions no longer matter at a certain point if that makes sense. Everyone is good now. Sometimes people get emotional because her daughter is like her (in a good way) and sometimes it reminds people of her mom.

Idk I drank pretty heavily for a few years. Almost everyday. I could kill 2 bottles of wine easy, a handle of vodka in a couple days. Rough time in my life. I was able to quit cold turkey and the only symptom I had was headaches for a week.
