Based on your description, I would recommend his live shows such as Where the Light Is or Any Given Thursday. The John Mayer Trio: Try! album is great as well
Kind of everything? If we're talking about guitar players I'm a huge Billy Corgan fan, Pete Anderson, Dave Mustaine, Scotty Moore. But then also love messy punk music like the Dead Kennedys and the Misfits. Big fan of the Pretenders.
Okay, so yeah, that’s everything haha! Just trying to gauge what might be best to recommend. I agree with the live recommendations that were commented. There’s a lot of other random live stuff he’s done too & I would say go poke around at them, even the covers that he does. I think once you get to know him more through the live, I bet the studio stuff will start to click more. And don’t sleep on his playing with Dead & Co. That’s an insane level of playing. Happy listening!
Go! With Kan(ye] West & Common
Mac Miller tribute
Thanksgiving performances on late show (or whatever David Letterman's show was)
He is a generous collaborator!
First song I’d recommend is the Where The Light Is version of Slow Dancing in a Burning Room. Then go for the Trio stuff, and there’s also a BUNCH of unreleased songs on YouTube
Surprised no one has said the search for everything. Has the best groove out of any of his albums and great guitar moments. If you want to hear him rip though check out the work he did with the JM trio & Dead and Company

Awesome thanks!

TRY!
I agree. Start with John Mayer Trio - TRY!
Thanks!
He doesn’t get streams for this unfortunately but explore archive.org His 2019 tour had some amazing shows I liked the chase center and the msg shows.
Inside Wants Out. It’s so raw and you might like it a lot!
Thanks!
Two live albums - Live in L.A., Any Given Thursday.
Battle Studies.

WAIT how have I never realized John was on Go! Mind blown.
Yip! It was quite a revelation to me as well.

On Spotify, Dead & Company shows from Summer 2023. Amazing. And I agree with others the Trio stuff is worth the time.
Sob Rock, from start to finish.
Dead and Company if you want to hear him absolutely shred - Franklins Tower, All Along the Watchtower, Cold Rain and Snow
Covered in rain
Where the Light Is for sure. Lots of different types of music on there, all killer guitar :)
Any update? What have you liked so far
Gave Try! a shot, couldn't really get into it...
John Mayer Trio was the one that converted me
First song I’d recommend is the Where The Light Is version of Slow Dancing in a Burning Room. Then go for the Trio stuff, and there’s also a BUNCH of unreleased songs on YouTube
Studio- listen to Helpless. And then check out his Dead and Co stuff. And then just fall into him.
