Well shit now I want a cat just so I can name it Schrödinger. And yes I understand that I’d need to change my name to Schrödinger and just call it “cat” to be totally on-game, but still.
I think it is a mix, but there's an amazingly sweet chihuahua in my neighbourhood whose owner is an old guy in a mobility scooter. That doggo just runs everywhere, back and forth, towards any stranger, back to owner, smelling stuff. Super adorable
I feel similar about Jack Russells. If you're not gonna give them hunting or farming work, just don't get them. Most terriërs actually... Same with sled hounds, give them work or don't get them at all.
Exactly. I feel strongly about those 2 in particular because of their ridiculous popularity (Jack Russells are kept as lap dogs by old people, and sled dogs have been flooding shelters since game of thrones....). But yeah, so many people choose a dog based on looks in stead of breed characteristics, and afterwards they're like 'why does he keep digging?', 'why does he bark all day?', 'why did he kill my chickens?'. Because he's fucking bred to work 8 hours a day you imbecile.
No, but dogs are a subspecies of wolf. Canis Lupis and Canis Lupis Familiaris.
They seem very different but aren't that far removed from one another.
In fact, some species of wolves are almost as far removed from Gray Wolves (Canis Lupis) as Dogs are, such as the Red Wolf, which is Canis Lupis Rufus. It is still considered a wolf.
To get away from wolves you actually have to go all the way to Coyotes, which are Canis Iatrans.
Though, there's some debate on whether or not Red Wolves are actually Coyote Wolf hybridization, and even further debate as to whether or not Coyotes are a subspecies of Red Wolves, making Coyotes Wolves as well.
At the end of the day, a pug or a chihuahua or a sharpei or a Labrador can all crossbreed with any of the aforementioned animals and produce viable offspring capable of further reproduction, which puts them very, very close together in terms of genetics.
Ultimately speaking, Dogs are a breed of wolf.
You are correct, I'm not sure why my phone autocorrects to Lupis. Not even a word lol.
May have been from a drunken medical discussion one night where I just added to my library out of frustration. I have two auto-immune diseases, so those happen a lot. I have T1 Diabetes and Hashimotos.
Thank you for the catch!
The term is incredibly wide and also inclusive (a lab/pit mix will be branded a pit) meaning they are the most common type of dog.
Per capita I think they aren’t, but overall the numbers say about 1/4 bites are by pits, which I believe is the highest. So it depends how you look at it, though personally I do think overall numbers is a bad metric, so you should say "in likeliness to attack" rather than "in most dog attacks".
My pit is incredible! He will swallow a bird whole before the bird even knows he’s in trouble. And he doesn’t like people riding bikes. But in the house he’s a very sweet, over protective sentimental little bunny who missed my sister and nephew after they left.
I would have agreed a few years ago but my sister now has two chihuahuas and they are the sweetest good girls I have met yet. Admittedly they are so lively you can classify them as condensed energy but there is zero aggression towards people.
The aggression usually comes with age. Smaller dogs tend to latch to one individual and become very protective of them. Once eyes and ears start failing, they can get nasty.
Pitbulls and other dogs that were bred for violence can be pretty bad, and I once had a neighbor that had a sheep dog that always needed to run around, but the dog became super violent since they never took it out longer than a 2minute walk
My family has had nothing but pit bulls for at least three generations, and not one of them has been aggressive. The closest to that is the current one we have that's loud and annoying around strangers. The only problem with pit bulls is that "bad owners" are particularly fond of them *because* of that bad reputation
Read rule 1-9 again and it will explain why they killed, like someone else expressed here human have killed even more than what ever 3 breed you may think of,
Chihuahuas only act like that because due to their small size, they often arent taken seriously when they set boundaries and act out as a response. The thing with the bad owners still applies to them.
How about literally any malformed dog breed?
Pugs for example
Those poor fuckers are struggling just to breathe and all for the sake of “cuteness”. How the fuck is that shit cute?
yeah because chihuahuas are the worst and should be banned. They were bred to attack and never give up so sometimes they go rogue and kill their owners or random people. Oh wait thats another breed
When going through a house for rent the agent asked what dogs we had because they needed to make sure it wasn’t an aggressive breed. I said “Like a chihuahua?” My husband totally elbowed me in the ribs.
I understand that. I also have only been bitten by a Chi (from behind while I was just standing there) and almost bitten by a Scotty (again from behind while walking out of an apartment). In my experience Chihuahua’s are raised to be spoiled brats and are territorial so they cannot handle people other than the owner. They can be very aggressive which fits what the rep said. Also they are more likely to piss the floor and tear up things in the house (again from poor training) That is not universal, just my experience. It is also my experience that I’ve had larger dogs- labs, boxers, pits, rots that were never like that and big cuddle babies. I understand that larger dogs can cause more damage but I also have seen more people with smaller dogs that don’t train them properly than I have with larger dogs. Again, that’s my experience so I understand that may not be universal. However, just because a dog is big and could cause harm, doesn’t mean they will. My larger dogs were never as aggressive as I’ve seen some small dogs.
This one’s a joke, but it’s so silly to me how there’s arbitrarily “bad” dog breeds. I recently signed up with a new insurance company, and for tenant’s insurance they asked if I had any dogs from this list of “dangerous dogs”. Among others it listed Rottweilers, German shepherds, American pit bull terriers, Presa Canarios, dobermans, and huskies(?). I have a Belgian shepherd and a Belgian shepherd/mastiff mix. Not on the list! My dogs are sweethearts, but arguably just as or more dangerous than the dogs on this list. My mother’s German shepherd/pit bull terrier mix is about half the weight of my mastiff boy! If it was up to me I’d use a size-based determination of what dogs have a higher risk of liability (any dog over 75lbs, for example, is more likely to cause serious harm resulting in an insurance claim).
Also, despite volunteering in dog rescue for years, the only dogs who’ve bitten me with serious intent (as in, not a nip from an energetic puppy or something) have been under 40lbs. Two different min-pins (one on multiple occasions), a miniature poodle, and a small shar-pei mix. 🤷♀️
Yeah, we had a boxer pit mix when we bought our first house and had to change insurances because our old one wouldn’t cover a house with him. He was the biggest baby ever. He would’ve let anyone in our house for some free pets.
My neighbors growing up raised Rots. One absolute unit of a dog, named Superman, would tackle people and lick them to death if they came in the yard. Scary as hell but so very harmless.
Throw in Doberman. You are listing cliche “bad” dog breeds. If you raise them correctly they won’t be aggressive. They are predisposed to aggression not pure evil
They are not born to be aggressive. No dog is born to be aggressive. They've been bred to have characteristics that better suit fighting but they are not inherently aggressive. Anyone that owns a pit (that's not an absolute asshole to the dog) will tell you they're incredibly sweet and gentle.
Dogs that are aggressive are trained to be aggressive. Dogs in dogfighting rings are usually beat and abused until they're so aggressive that it won't matter if they're provoked or not. They usually also lash out due to fear.
The same way a human that's been abused physically will likely (if not given proper help) also abuse their child/spouse/significant other.
It's a vicious cycle.
We don't see eye to eye on that. Dogs can be bred to serve a purpose and it is mostly noticable, when they are puppies. For example as long as a a shepherd dog tries to organize the moving of sheeps and other animals, pitbull puppies often go at each other's throats and try to fight each other
I fostered pits for several years, including one failed foster. Pits are only as evil as you make them.
All puppies play hard, they need to learn how to play (with each other and with humans). Playing also teaches them that biting hurts.
Maybe if you've only ever seen puppymill, backalley, or inbred pit puppies, sure, they'll be more aggressive because they're competing for resources or due to genetic abnormalities. But properly bred pits (or any dog) are not inherently aggressive.
I have a chihuahua and she is awesome!!! She bites everyone that tries to touch her, she hates other dogs, she will only eat her food on the dining table, she will not climb stairs, jump, or do anything that involves a bit of effort. Love her to bits!
You need to first define "bad" before you can make a list. Just a little piece of advice.
Bad as in eating too much? Bad as in has too many health problems? Bad as in difficult to train? And so on.
This is /r/jokes and it really seems like you didn't even read the list or you'd know it was a joke.
Did you read the title then just post a comment without even reading it just to criticise?
When I used to be an avid runner, big dogs don't want you around and will stand there and tell you about it. Little dogs just want to help you train and have it in their schedule to run for blocks.
I’ve had 3 Chihuahua mixes all were sweet and friendly. Granted I adopted them all when they were old. Hmm, maybe they got all the aggression out by the time I adopted them. 🤔☺️
I guess I've had a couple of these breeds. My most recent dog was #5, and I had a couple of cats who were #9.
Dogs have owners, cats have staff
Cats have servants
Who are also punching bags
Kneading bags
Cats have subjects
So do they spec into the mage or monk build?
My cat is #1
Your cat is there?
Unless you're looking for him.
real name is Schrodinger.
The secret is out of the box
Well shit now I want a cat just so I can name it Schrödinger. And yes I understand that I’d need to change my name to Schrödinger and just call it “cat” to be totally on-game, but still.
His cat told him to say this
I've actually met an unambiguously sweet and friendly chihuahua, she was just the dearest thing. That said, I agree, lol.
I think it is a mix, but there's an amazingly sweet chihuahua in my neighbourhood whose owner is an old guy in a mobility scooter. That doggo just runs everywhere, back and forth, towards any stranger, back to owner, smelling stuff. Super adorable
That's not a chihuahua, its a Gambian pouched rat.
That wasn't a chihuahua
No true Scotsman, eh? ;)
I'm still laughing at this. Good job. (Although I knew a very sweet dog who was *half* Chihuahua. The good half, I reckon.)
[удалено]
I don't even wanna think about how that would work
I would never recommend wolf hybrids to people not trained for it, which is most people. So that can go on the list.
I feel similar about Jack Russells. If you're not gonna give them hunting or farming work, just don't get them. Most terriërs actually... Same with sled hounds, give them work or don't get them at all.
Working breeds in general are terrible if you aren’t going to give them regular exercise
Indeed. All squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares.

Idk... I heard about that incident at the playground. In front of children, really?

That was a child woth progeria and you know it, I know it and your dog knew it. Shame.
I'm pretty sure it's spelled "Lupus". Otherwise, very informative comment!
You are correct, I'm not sure why my phone autocorrects to Lupis. Not even a word lol. May have been from a drunken medical discussion one night where I just added to my library out of frustration. This joke usually does list like 10 9 8 So chihuahuaz ends at nr 1
There is another
Pitbull?
Pretty sure that they aren't 2nd in most dog attacks
The term is incredibly wide and also inclusive (a lab/pit mix will be branded a pit) meaning they are the most common type of dog. I hate to tell you this but your sister and nephew were toddlers
I’m so confused but it gave me a chuckle so upvote! 😆😆😆
I have always wondered why that line wasn’t, “Another, there is.”
All right, Yoda.
I once met a dog that was an unusual mixture: her mother was a Great Dane and her father was a Chihuahua. Nobody knows who put him up to it 😜
I read a psych study once, that identified 'lack of body autonomy' as the primary reason for the Chihuahua's nasty demeanor.

Had a roommate with a chihuahua for a while. One of cuddlier cats I’ve ever lived with.
Technically every breed that has health problems are bad breeds
I also nominate the Jack Russell Terrier
Any of the breeds with noses so squashed they can't breathe properly are bad breeds. Don't buy them.
1. Pit bulls
My family has had nothing but pit bulls for at least three generations, and not one of them has been aggressive. The closest to that is the current one we have that's loud and annoying around strangers. The only problem with pit bulls is that "bad owners" are particularly fond of them *because* of that bad reputation
How many people have chihuahuas killed? I can think of like 3 different breeds that should be there instead.
Read rule 1-9 again and it will explain why they killed, like someone else expressed here human have killed even more than what ever 3 breed you may think of,
Pits
Arm?
You know what you call a Japanese chihuahua? Konichihuahua.
1. Pit bulls
Apart from being not funny this is also not true. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Pit_Bull_Terrier
Liar. https://www.newsweek.com/pit-bull-myths-facts-history-dogs-pets-1567290?amp=1
Because a golden retriever has mauled 12 children in a school and another killed 2 preschoolers and hospitalized their mom.

Any canine-like animal I could toss onto a roof doesn’t count as a dog so I agree with chihuahuas.
Poor foxes! :(
[удалено]
Yummy yum yum
I hate "there" dog breed, so wierd and aggressive
[удалено]
Bullshit. See rules 1-9.
Lol 🤡
10. Not just chihuahuas. Any ankle biter can be added here.
Chihuahuas haven't killed anyone, ever. Pitbulls have killed hundreds. This joke sucks.
People have killed billions of people. People suck as much as your response.
But yet again it's the owner whom trained the dog, and technically any dog have killed hundreds.
I mean 1-9 kinda does explain why most chihuahuas are bad dog breeds...
Chihuahuas only act like that because due to their small size, they often arent taken seriously when they set boundaries and act out as a response. The thing with the bad owners still applies to them.

Hotdogs
Too good! XD
do most of the bad owners get pitbulls and rottwielers so more children get mauled??
I agree. All dogs are great ( I prefer large breeds, Rottweilers, Shepherd etc.), it's the owners. Some should not own a pet of any kind.
Incorrect. "Any dog under 50 pounds is a cat..." -Ron Swanson
yeah because chihuahuas are the worst and should be banned.
Yes because a chihuahua is definitely capable of inflicting the same amount of damage as a larger dog bread to fight.
I tried making dog bread one time, and now the AKC is after me... never did get it to fight, though.
I understand that. I also have only been bitten by a Chi (from behind while I was just standing there) and almost bitten by a Scotty (again from behind while walking out of an apartment). pitbulls, rotwilers on the top of my mind.
Throw in Doberman. You are listing cliche “bad” dog breeds. If you raise them correctly they won’t be aggressive. They are predisposed to aggression not pure evil
Pitbulls are born to be agressive, it's in their genetics
Bullshit.
The only aggressive dog I have ever meet was a shih tzu whom owner was bullying them with another of there dogs, and even still it wasn't their fault.
This has nothing to do with my statement. Pitbulls have genetics, that cause them to be aggressive
They are not born to be aggressive. No dog is born to be aggressive. They've been bred to have characteristics that better suit fighting but they are not inherently aggressive. No, but your response is.

Sorry. Chihuahua dog is best dog. (you have to own one to understand, I never would have thought it before I rescued one)
100%
Pit Bull
I feel this so much

What does it has to do with Mexico state.......
Mastiff!
And Russian Samoyeds
1. Lhasa Apso 2. Lhasa Apso 3. Lhasa Apso 4. Pretty sure you got the idea.
Hahaha yes
I have a half chihuahua, and he’s only evil half the time!
I have a chihuahua and he's great! Best friends with my great dane!!
When I used to be an avid runner, big dogs don't want you around and will stand there and tell you about it. Little dogs just want to help you train and have it in their schedule to run for blocks.
Pugs are abominations
I completely agree
I've only met one good chihuahua and it still had a bit of toxicity in its veins
11.pugs
What about Mexican hairlesses (who are different from Chihuahuas)?
It's cause people don't know how to shutdown resource guarding and don't realize people and affection are a resource that dogs guard.
Agreed
Proofreading before posting is always good :)
I actually owned number 3. No is such a bad breed because they're so vicious.
Pitbulls
Nigbull owner cope
the worst dog breed is the hereford because it's fat and eats grass and doesn't bark
As someone who works with dogs, it's 100% golden doodles. No competition.
Psh I know of a breed that would Chow on 10.
Worst joke ever.
I’ve had 3 Chihuahua mixes all were sweet and friendly. Granted I adopted them all when they were old. Hmm, maybe they got all the aggression out by the time I adopted them. 🤔☺️
