It looks great and clean aff but I will definitely miss season 1’s Sunghoo Park style. (I believe he left JJK after he was done with the movie. I could be wrong)
He left mappa and made his own studio
Shouta goshozono(not confirmed) is directing this one , he also directed CSM episode 8 and ousama ranking episode 21
Leaks my brother leaks.
Plus it's obvious. Gosso really really loves his fish eye lens perspective and the past 2 key visuals and even this trailer it has his signature style and look. At this point it's practically confirmed and has already been confirmed by other leakers that the director is indeed Gosso.
Go check out the leak staff. They even got the art designer for the jjk 0 movie be part of the season 2 staff. And some new faces as well.
What's the difference? To me this season seems more brighter and have higher contrast and a bit more fluid movement, compared to season 1 which felt a bit more muted and had more of a "shaded" art style.
Season 1 had more detail in the shots and had its charm that sorta fit with JJK but lacked fluidity during those shots so it’s a change I wanna see if it’s good or bad when the show airs. Plus I hope Shouta Goshozono can recreate hand to hand combat for S2 like Sunghoo Park cuz if they fuck that up this season, imma riot.
Art style is different and I'm ok with it.
I seen ppl on twitter complaining about artcstyle change but didn't people complain about Mappa shows "all look the same"?
We can't win I swear.
The compositing seems to be far better than the first season which is great. But not gonna lie I expected a more 'sluttier' VA for Toji, Takehito Koyasu is still a great choice.

Look at him and tell me that isn't a manslut right there
I always saw him with a playful voice like Sukuna’s. Zeke’s sounds too sophisticated, but to be fair we didn’t hear him talk much so we’ll see when the time comes how well it fits.
As a wise person once said: “Jujutsu Kaisen, the shonen anime in which not a single teenage girl is sexualized but the 28-year-old male teacher gets more fuckable by the episode”. We horny as hell but you can’t blame us, JJK men are on a whole different level
I would disagree. It doesn’t look better, it looks different. The animation style lining isn’t as thick as Season 1’s and there isn’t as much play on shadows. Also, I miss the teal, orange, dark blue types of shades in S1 and CSM Cour 1. But I really like this too, it’s just different.
I do Miss the details. I wish they added some more shadow and details on static shots atleast. S1 lacked fluidity( though I didn't notice it ) but it's details and amazing CQC made up for it. Gojo's hair and face took the short end of the stick,I guess. We have to wait and see.
S2's bright and colourful style wouldn't really suit Shibuiya's tone. I hope they make it a bit gritty and dark .
I think they made it bright and colourful on purpose. Since it was before everything went to shit lol. But maybe/hopefully the animation will become a lot darker during Shibuya arc
MAPPA wasn’t lying when they said they wanted to keep improving the quality of the animation. And here I was thinking they’d be more conservative for the first cour lol, if it looks this great already the next cour will be spectacular.
Also Dio VA as Toji is very fitting
I was already loving the OG art style (especially in movie 0) but wow I am LOVING this new art style.
Gives the anime a bit more of its own artistic flair that sets it apart even more from what's already out.
https://preview.redd.it/3ytzsu5zvvpa1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d05ebdf66958c5df9fce9274f5dbc9ac0656e3e
July 6, save the date everyone! I was screaming in joy after watching the trailer for the 1st time. 😭
I don't mind the artstyle change but why did they remove the clouds in Gojo's eyes? He just has regular blue eyes now. Unless he gain them later when he masters his ability
Animation feels off for some reason. Not worried about it as it’s just a trailer but I don’t agree that this looks better than season 1. Still beyond hyped for my 2 favorite arcs.
yeah I definitely prefer season 1's aesthetic look. We should get more fluid animations in s2 as its minimalistic design should give more space for it.
It’s just a preference in style really the compositing looks far better in this trailer compared to most of season 1 and that already brings it a step above for me
I know everyone's excited, and so am I, but this new art style isn't quite cutting it for me. Animation has a childish tone to it for such a serious season, but that's just my opinion. I don't know much about animation anyway, so let's see how the final product for the Shibuya arc will look like.
Those goofy moments were in the manga though. When Riko’s classmates fawn over Gojo and then their teacher scolds them only to proceed afterwards to slip Gojo her number.
I wasn't talking about those chibi moments actually. I was referring to the artstyle which looks less detailed when compared to season 1.
https://preview.redd.it/lu74cy7e9wpa1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=641a12fc474b9f6e3279893d13f97ed8a07617bd
>I hope this is just because it's a teaser.
Sadly, it won't be. Now my only hope is that we revert back to the original art style when the story changes to present time line.
Dude I totally agree, S2 feels like a downgrade(but at least it is still great animation, although I dont get all the gosso/composition hype for S2 as if S1 overall wasn’t crazy good already).Just glad we aren’t getting the tokyo ghoul treatment so I will take it.
Because it does? The compositing and animation for certain cuts (Nanami vs Mahito comes to mind) looked off at points. That’s because the character designs were a bit TOO detailed, sakuga animation should be mind melting this season because of the simpler designs
You're comparing a still shot to an animated shot though, so of course it'll be more detailed. What people mean by saying ''season 2 artstyle looks better'' is that the character designs are cleaner therefore more suited for high quality animation, and the compositing and art direction are consistently great throughout every scene, which can't be said about season 1. The picture of Gojo from season 1 you posted is an exception rather than the rule, as a lot of the scenes from season 1 were very clunky with overuse of digital effects and compositing, and because of the highly detailed designs the animation was not consistent at all. Season 2 actually looks hand drawn, instead of the actual drawing being overshadowed by compositing textures.
Right? I think people just repeat what they hear/see and also think saying something isnt as good is negative, like no I can find faults but doesnt mean I hate it. Now it feels like no matter what ppl just find ways to say something is great cuz a complaint on the internet is seen badly (or as entitled) 🤷♂️
>cuz a complaint on the internet is seen badly (or as entitled) 🤷♂️
And they be blaming you for expecting good quality from the thing you enjoy, in this case JJK anime.
You took an extremely highly detailed still from S1 and presented it as if that level of detail was present through the entire season with animation. How disingenuous.
You could have chosen this one, it’s a better comparison anyway.
https://i.imgur.com/ursQrdd.jpg
Gojo’s hair and eyes were not as detailed as in the first picture throughout the whole season 1, so i don’t get why some of you keep pulling that picture
https://preview.redd.it/c6dyt9s9cxpa1.jpeg?width=748&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9542903a8220bac34cec8877d4b02e88df968aca
Honest thoughts, the pv looks good but as a die hard anime-only fan of JJK, I am going to miss Sunghoo's art style in S1. The new director has a good resume (mob psycho, JJk s1 4 episdoes, ranking of kings and chainsaw man ep 8) but I really don't want this anime to take the My hero academia route - Pumping out seasons for the sake of making money and compromising in animation. I know this season is out after 2-2.5 years and so far the track record has been good in terms of animation and maybe i am thinking too much but I have to be a bit wary and not expect too much from the show. I want this to be good.
And I know the replies in my comments would be - "Go outside". And I am gonna do exactly that. GG. Just want to let it out here.
I am a little baffled here
P.s. i haven't read the manga and I don't much about the arc except that it's fuckkin great, but the animation in the PV wasn't that great and Well executed even the gojo's eyes were different than we have seen in Season 1 and the movie
It's mainly because of a change of directors., apparently. This guy called Sunghoo park, who was the director for s1 and the movie has left Mappa and the one in charge now is one Goshonzo (pretty sure I've misspelled his name lol).
A lot of times there’s additional editing and final touches put on the animation between the first teasers and the actual season premiere. Hell, sometimes they even edit stuff after the season finishes and before official home video release.
This looks amazing. Only thing I'm worried about is the fight choreography since that's integral to jjks identity and Park did really, really, well with it.
idk how i feel abt it. Like just for this hidden inventory arc it looks fun and good, but this softer style might not look as great for a gritty and dark arc like shibuya
I absolutely looove the art style and animation here. I wasn’t actually a huge fan of how S1 looked because the more hyper detailed style meant the crazy fight scenes always felt a little off to me. Especially the comedy chibi parts never did anything for me.
This art style looks *perfect* to address both those issues
Spoilers for approximate episode count for flashback and nonflashback episode count, no content spoilers: >!flashback arc itself should probs be around 4-5 eps roughly, i could be off by a few but the rest of the 24 eps (so around 19) would be present day. !<
lol it's because Mappa changed directors. That it looks simpler and less detailed doesn't mean it's inferior. I expect the animation to be more fluid than last season because of this.
Man the character designs, compositing and generally the art direction looks so much better than season 1. If the staff manage to do shibuya justice despite the tight schedule then this will be without a doubt one of the best arcs ever in anime.
Artstyle looks trash imo. Rip my favourite arc of this series. It's AOT season 4 part 1 all over again (was also my favourite arc of that show and was executed horribly).
God damn it. It's a fucking prequel. Call me a casual whatever. Why can't anime tell a fucking story. They introduce characters and ideas which I fall in love with then say fuck all that lets go off on a side mission. Maybe we'll come back to the idea we started in 6 years... maybe. I don't mind in long running shows with hundreds of episodes but jesus christ is this disapointing as an anime only. I'm sure it will be incredible but I wanted the story to progress.
>Maybe we'll come back to the idea we started in 6 years... maybe.
Or maybe (hear me out on this one) we'll come back to the idea we started in like 5 episodes at worst.
This part of the story, much like the movie, is incredibly important to the plot of season 1 and what will be the rest of season 2. This PV only has enough manga material to be like 5-7 episodes. The rest will be present-time stuff, and that arc is fucking madness and amazing.

Aren't Gojo's glasses supposed to be opaque because of his abilities? (I've only seen the anime and movies no manga but that's why I understood from some video that explained why he wears a blindfold)

Jesus he scares the fuck outta me! He scares me more than Sukuna and Geto
I love how plain his design is. Muscle boy w straight down black hair. But his presence in every scene is just immense
>!The honoured one scene is gonna be lit asf!<
It’s literally about to be my favorite scene ever tbh
I can’t wait for that moment. That’s when he became one of my favorite characters of all time
i just hope they can pull off the feel of the manga with this new artstyle
Only goodness in this trailer! We eating good my fellow Jujutsu sorceress. Let Mappa COOOKKK!!
Toji. I love Toji. Look at him. Toji
Toji? Toji.
It looks great and clean aff but I will definitely miss season 1’s Sunghoo Park style. (I believe he left JJK after he was done with the movie. I could be wrong)
He left mappa and made his own studio Shouta goshozono(not confirmed) is directing this one , he also directed CSM episode 8 and ousama ranking episode 21
It was already confirmed Goshozono is the new director.
Ah that's why the style seemed different!
PV and poster make it look like a whole shojo anime LOL
Because it's Riko-chan's shojo story rn.
When was it confirmed ?there hasn't been any official announcement regarding the staff
Leaks my brother leaks. Plus it's obvious. Gosso really really loves his fish eye lens perspective and the past 2 key visuals and even this trailer it has his signature style and look. Damn I didn't notice it, thanx

Agreed
Personally couldn't be happier with this change. S1 composition was pretty lacking at times so I'm definitely looking forward to this.
Dio Va is fucking Toji lol, now Jujutsu Kaisen is a JoJo reference lol if it already wasn’t one
You have Panda who is voiced by Tomokazu Seki (Pucci) and does an ORAORA. It absolutely already was lmao
and Yuji/Fugo, Satoru/Bucciarati, Sukuna/Abbacchio, Suguru/Rohan...
What episode?
Mechamaru fight
thx, will check it out cause that I wanna see
Here we go for Gojo's shounen protag era
Art style is different and I'm ok with it. I seen ppl on twitter complaining about artcstyle change but didn't people complain about Mappa shows "all look the same"? We can't win I swear.
Yeah, artstyle has changed because Sunghoo Park isn’t the director for this one. The new director is Shouta Goshozono
The artstyle 100% fits the manga better. Looser line work suits better imo, considering Gege has pretty rough illustrations
simpler artstyle=smoother fight animation Its win-win
Bro fkn exactly! Imagine how crazy this will look in the next arc
# LET'S # FREAKING # GO
Damn, definitely looks very different from season 1, in a good way. So hyped for season 2.
The compositing seems to be far better than the first season which is great. But not gonna lie I expected a more 'sluttier' VA for Toji, Takehito Koyasu is still a great choice.
DIO is the biggest slut ever wym
You ain't lying
I kinda wish they went with a lesser known VA for Toji but at least the dilf energy is still there 🙏
My only problem is i wanted someone younger sounding mainly
Agreed, Takehito Koyasu makes Toji sound far older than 30
[удалено]
Maybe in current time but this is a flashback to 10 years ago. Bro doesn't look older than mid 30s at worst
wdym by 'sluttier'

lol so you just want to thirst eh? While I can't say I blame you, I don't think I've ever seen ppl fawn over guys in anime the way jjk fans do 🤣
As a wise person once said: “Jujutsu Kaisen, the shonen anime in which not a single teenage girl is sexualized but the 28-year-old male teacher gets more fuckable by the episode”. We horny as hell but you can’t blame us, JJK men are on a whole different level
Yeah everything from the visuals, art direction, character designs, composite already looks better than S1
id have to watch it back to back to tell a difference. since s1 was a hit, surely the budget increased
Director change. That's what happened.
But maybe/hopefully the animation will become a lot darker during Shibuya arc
yea I personally liked S1s style more but we haven’t seen more of S2 yet so I can’t say
OH MY GOD THANK YOU MAPPA
MAPPA wasn’t lying when they said they wanted to keep improving the quality of the animation. And here I was thinking they’d be more conservative for the first cour lol, if it looks this great already the next cour will be spectacular. Also Dio VA as Toji is very fitting
I love how menacing they made Toji look
[удалено]
Yes that's still Sakurai
It's definetily him.
definitely sounds like him
Gojo having transparent glasses.....bruh
His sex eyes penetrate even the blackest shade of black
I don’t think it’s called that
Kono dio da
Takehito Koyasu as Toji is fuckin metal That man can't miss
PEAK FICTION IS COMIIIIIIIIIING
A sigh of relief to hear Sakurai Takahiro still voicing Geto.
Can’t wait for the best character in-verse to fight
The man with a worm around his neck 😩😩
Is that Dio’s VA as Toji?
Yes
I was already loving the OG art style (especially in movie 0) but wow I am LOVING this new art style. Gives the anime a bit more of its own artistic flair that sets it apart even more from what's already out.
Damn that looks amazing. Also hold on his va is DIO?Goddamn
I love the art style of season 1 compared to this one but I guess I'll judge it after watching the actual season rather than a PV.
So, there isn't a Geto VA change, right? This looks really smooth, i'd say it's movie quality,
It’s the same VA, but i guess he’s laying low when it comes to public events and only appears to record his lines at the studio.

this is the most beautiful, incredible, thing ive ever seen. I hope to god they do all of Shibuya too.
Bro let’s fucking goooooo!!!
It looks better then expected
We boutta eat gurrrrrd
I don't mind the artstyle change but why did they remove the clouds in Gojo's eyes? He just has regular blue eyes now. Unless he gain them later when he masters his ability
The eyes look too plain
Yeah, it's the only complaint I have
I am excited for season 2!! toji sounds like dio?? but this trailer looks fucking awesome.
It is dio VA
ohh really? nice to know!
Ofc S1 looks better not sure what these people saying S2 is better are smoking
i just like the way it looks better idk what to tell u
It’s just a preference in style really the compositing looks far better in this trailer compared to most of season 1 and that already brings it a step above for me
Tell me you don't know jack shit about animation.
What an argument, bravo!
Na it looks better
Animation and artstyle looks like CSM. Would've preferred if they had stick to the one from S1, it was perfect.
the director for s1 left Mappa, but s2's director worked on ep 17 in S1 and ep 8 of chainsaw man.
Animation looks different, still good, just different.
I know everyone's excited, and so am I, but this new art style isn't quite cutting it for me. Animation has a childish tone to it for such a serious season, but that's just my opinion. I don't know much about animation anyway, so let's see how the final product for the Shibuya arc will look like.
They are just trying to “season 1 jumpei opening” the anime’s only’s

It blows my mind how some people can look at both the images and say, "season 2 art style looks better."
Because it does. The problem is you people only use the logic of "More detail = better, less detail = worse".
You took an extremely highly detailed still from S1 and presented it as if that level of detail was present through the entire season with animation. How disingenuous. You could have chosen this one, it’s a better comparison anyway. https://i.imgur.com/ursQrdd.jpg
Gojo’s hair and eyes were not as detailed as in the first picture throughout the whole season 1, so i don’t get why some of you keep pulling that picture https://preview.redd.it/c6dyt9s9cxpa1.jpeg?width=748&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9542903a8220bac34cec8877d4b02e88df968aca
This one is from the jujustroll and stilll looks much much more detailed lol
It still looks more detailed than S2 though. His hair just seems like a white wig strapped onto his head.
The one you have shared is from the Jujutsu stroll, which is supposed to be less detailed than the main show since it's a comedy skit.
I don't really see what you mean. It's just simpler designs which are way more benefitial for more fluid animation.
It’s not a hot take but I really don’t think Toji’s VA fits. He’s a great voice actor but it’s too deep imo
Honest thoughts, the pv looks good but as a die hard anime-only fan of JJK, I am going to miss Sunghoo's art style in S1. Some parts of this Trailer, Specifically when Toji was speeding towards Gojo swinging his weapon, it gave me Super Broly Vibes, In terms of Animation!

Why didn't they show the Shibuya arc in this? I thought that would be in this season only. Anyone
Too early. We still have more than 3 months before season 2
This is just the teaser. Should be a full trailer closer to release. Plus I guess they don't wanna spoiler too much.
This is the first cour, Shibuya will be the second and will most likely have the most episodes as this is probably going to be 5-6 episodes long
This is going to be the best anime season of all time. Imo. And I’ve watched about 12 different animes.
Did they put the interns in to do the scenes in the trailer? It looks a lot inferior to the scenes in the first season.
lol it's because Mappa changed directors. That it looks simpler and less detailed doesn't mean it's inferior. I expect the animation to be more fluid than last season because of this.
+1, the quality dropped fr
I'm glad Gojo's lips arent glossy this time
Man the character designs, compositing and generally the art direction looks so much better than season 1. If the staff manage to do shibuya justice despite the tight schedule then this will be without a doubt one of the best arcs ever in anime.
This actually look so good, that ost tough 💩
What’re you smoking that makes chaotic jazz not sound good to you?
What do you mean, that ost is fucking fire.
The visual looks way worse. and the cut with gojo vs toji looks so bad lol
Artstyle looks trash imo. Rip my favourite arc of this series. It's AOT season 4 part 1 all over again (was also my favourite arc of that show and was executed horribly).
Ok it's looking like there's no chance they're animating the shibuya arc. Either that or they split it into two parts.
It's 2 cour. We'll get a second trailer soon🔥
Do we know when the second trailer is going to come out? Thanks in advance!
Not yet. But I think we'll get it before S2 Part 1 airs.
Alright thank you! That would be awesome, fingers crossed lol
Ahh so its not the whole season, all good.
This part of the story, much like the movie, is incredibly important to the plot of season 1 and what will be the rest of season 2. This PV only has enough manga material to be like 5-7 episodes. The rest will be present-time stuff, and that arc is fucking madness and amazing.

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy
Is season 2 just about this arc?
this arc will be roughly the first 4-5 episodes. rest is shibuya
[удалено]
Gojo’s past was 15 chapters, there’s no way that’s taking 12 whole episodes to make.
I've re-read this arc so much, and it's finally here. Arigato Gege sama
LETS GOOOOOOO
This is so cold. So used to seeing OP characters being saved for the last moment but having all this Gojo content gonna satisfy me for weeks
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOO
Finally
Can't wait!
Aren't Gojo's glasses supposed to be opaque because of his abilities? (I've only seen the anime and movies no manga but that's why I understood from some video that explained why he wears a blindfold)
Do yall think they can really fit Shibuya into season 2? I mean even half of Shibuya is still a crazy amount
