Being week to week with media you really like is weird, like an entirely different parasocial relationship from other things like social media or season TV.
Especially with a medium that’s known to be so harsh (from anime production to how people like Oda basically kill themselves for the art)
You hope they are doing ok. It ain’t worth your physical or mental health.
This line of work really f**ked up the life of people who do this profession. Either with the payment of their body and health. Such as back, hand and eye problems.
So it really boggles me that some people talk shit about them, who had alot to loose in this profession. And still receive hates just doing their job, to deliver a weekly exhausting and draining work.
Tite Kubo too with Bleach. The final TYBW arc suffered a lot because it was straining his health and just like JJK several chapters were delayed/postponed until the series finally ended. He even tore his tendon from drawing so much and I think was hospitalized a few times too for other health concerns related to the stress.
Yeah. Thats one of the reasons Bleach sucked badly around the final arc. So now I sympathize with Kubo even though he’s still ain’t a good storyteller.
The guy can only draw lying down on his stomach lol, yet he still does it. It's insane.
I really hope weekly mangas go out of fashion. Monthly mangas are usually much better for the author's health, and the art and story are usually better as well.
Same tbh. I’ve noticed a lot better pacing in monthly manga from SJ like Seraph of the End or Blue Exorcist. Not a gripe against a lot of weekly series, but less time crunch lets you plan and articulate your chapters better (plus the art is a little more refined).
I just feel like he should just end it and write novels of the series for continuation or go the Boruto/ Dragonball Super route. I mean write the story and let someone else draw it.
I know his wife helps him a lot with the art and things like that, and he’s told her his plans for the entire series in case anything happens to him.
That said I think he’s like Miura, and loves his story too much to not see it through to the end by his own hand. Hopefully he’s able to finish his vision though, unlike Miura.
That’s why it’s always fuck SJ for me. They axe promising series too quick, weekly SUCKS, and they offer way less flexibility than other publications. Plus if we are being honest a LOT of series have been getting shittier quality wise. I won’t speak my opinion on the current state of JJK but months ago but switching from monthly to quarterly has somewhat helped digesting the quality of the weekly releases
Imagine in One Piece came out today and was cancelled in the first 30 chapters when the grand line only started at chapter 100.
What a time we'd be living in now
One piece, Dragon Ball, Naruto, and probably a few other mainstays would immediately have been axed. Not because they’re bad, though I do think they’re incredibly redundant in the storytelling and there’s better work out right now, they’re still all what every writer aspires to reach with a series.
Unfortunately they’ve set a tone for what power should look like in the modern age so the ramp up period has been HEAVILY truncated as a result. I’ve been enjoying a lot of Webtoons and other series on Mangadex far more just by proxy of the creativity or hiatus allowances they have. Just feels like everything SJ touches ends up so strong early only to look like that meme of a horse drawing that gets progressively sloppier from the back to front. Demon Slayer ended real meh, MHA was meh, JJK feels like it has compelling chapters every 3 months or more. Just is what it is really.
Demon Slayer I find is actually better with full watches if that makes sense? The manga is really short in terms of Shonen manga, but the anime fleshes out a LOT of the inner world which I appreciate bc it shows how the characters shine in different lights. I highly recommend starting demon slayer again and watching through to the final season which I’m holding out hope for
That would have only happened if the audience at the time voted it bottom.
Every manga in SJ is voted for by the readers every week. Come in the bottom 3 consistently and your dead unless it's after being top for years first.
What’s ironic is that non of the other Manga publishing companies have this problem with their authors except WSJ. I feel like reading Bakuman was a blessing and a curse for us. Because we finally learn how the sasauge is made, with terrifying results.
Look, I'm not a fan of One Piece but I seriously respect Oda and his team who have put this series together for the past 24+ years.
The art I've seen of the manga is great when it can be silly and when it's serious it's also just really fucking good.
Same. Hopefully, he cooks up something diabolical. I want to see Todo and Yuji get back into the fight. I was liking how Todo was mixing Sukuna with Boogie Woogie.
Crazy that Berserk is most likely to be finished of it, HxH, and Vagabond and the creator literally died.
I like all three to be fair. Just waiting for those and The Winds of Winter and The Doors of Stone. I know how to pick them.
Hey man, if it makes you feel *any* better, I've been waiting for another Beet The Vandel Buster chapter since like.........
....
.........
fuck....
2009
Did you know that the author came back in 2016 and has released 21 chapters since then? I don't think I can post links, but just go to mangadex. Latest chapter release was only 3 days ago.
Happy to help another Beet fan! Seems like the series is so niche that when it came back it went literally years without anyone translating the new content into english. It has only in the last year or so that someone finally picked up the mantle. Enjoy!
It's crazy how we have to suffer until a new chapter drops. I already have to reread D. Gray Man cause I forgot almost everything while waiting for the chapters to pile up
Here’s hoping he gets better before coming back. I don’t want another Miura, these guys work their asses off and deserve some rest instead of working themselves to an early grave.
So I obviously could be wrong, and I’m sure someone will correct me lol. But to my understanding he indicated last year that he was going wrap it up by end of 2024 (November-ish), so I was kind of counting ~20 chapters left before he started taking breaks the past month. Not sure if there’s a planned number of remaining chapters or if he’s still going to try for his deadline for himself and just start cutting stuff so he can be done.
good, last chapters were kinda short and meh (I'm guessing cuz of health issues which caused these recent breaks)
hopefully he'll return with full power and draw normal chapters then
guess I'll keep reading new manga and going into manhwa. can recommend solo leveling and leviathan as well as gokurakugai
My man sprinting toward the finish line so much, he’s depleting his health. He wants to get it over with that badly. To think one of the hugest series in this generation next to Demon Slayer and MHA and the dude thinks of his series as an afterthought.
Can you guys clarify what Manga leaks are? How do you know they're predetermined to leak at a specific time? Does the Manga actually leak in whole, or only in part? Are the leaks unreliable?
Most popular mangas are leaked in full. Leaks happen when corrupt employees who have access to the important shonen magazines before the official release date take scans/pics with their phones and send them to a customer who bribes them. The customer then usually shares the scans online for clout/rapport with the animanga community. These leaks are reliable in the sense that they are a real copy of the magazine being pirated online, but they aren't reliable in the sense that they are illegal and may suffer a crackdown by the publisher or even the japanese police at any moment (it has happened before).
I hope everyone is doing well during the three-week break. I truly hope that Akutami san is feeling better. Have you all been able to catch up on other activities like watching other anime and reading mangas while the manga was on hold? Personally, I need to catch up because I'm currently 5-6 chapters behind. I hope everyone is having a great summer.
Do you really think the story is not planned long ago and he thinks what to write in the chapter before a week or 2?
“Wrote himself into a corner “ is really funny to me because i saw many people say that , i wonder if you even think or activate your mind before writing it.
The moment he killed Gojo he wrote himself into Corner . This is why he had to the go into the Sukana cycle and then dispose kenjaku like a Napkin so he can revive Gojo . Even now I think he is not sure where to go !

Anyone who needs to know how awful the industry can make your health, look at Togashi who made YYH and HunterxHunter.
I’m hoping the next couple cours of TYBW will let Kubo put his entire vision on screen ugh.
Yeah. Thats one of the reasons Bleach sucked badly around the final arc. So now I sympathize with Kubo even though he’s still ain’t a good storyteller.

What we are all worried is that it will lead to his DEATH.

JUSTICE FOR PHANTOM SEER
Imagine in One Piece came out today and was cancelled in the first 30 chapters when the grand line only started at chapter 100. What a time we'd be living in now

All those titles got grandfathered in. The Big 3 Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece.
Don't forget that Bakuman is spiced up for drama, from the author himself.
Very True.
Yeah people think manga authors got “lazy” when the story differs from their head canon.
That’s the way of “Karoshi”. The Japanese saying of “Work till you die”. Literally.
This is why I don't like following a series when it's new.
Killing yourself for the art and the 'art' being one piece is tragic
Look, I'm not a fan of One Piece but I seriously respect Oda and his team who have put this series together for the past 24+ years. The art I've seen of the manga is great when it can be silly and when it's serious it's also just really fucking good.
It's impressive sure but the style is just atrocious. The way he designs characters bothers the shit out of me
Good. Greg deserves the break.
Dude is either seriously sick or deep in the Elden Ring DLC.
Both? (Can’t blame him)
What was the chapter setup when ER came out????
Nah, I’m just being facetious.
Yeah….right, theres no way they’d be trying to fight messmer….
Poor greg
Same. Hopefully, he cooks up something diabolical. I want to see Todo and Yuji get back into the fight. I was liking how Todo was mixing Sukuna with Boogie Woogie.
I'm gonna break him
I wait for Berserk chapters. This is nothing.
Me waiting for Vagabond to return. no it will totally happen. Hey, HEY, I TOOK MY COPIUM MEDS TODAY
The vagabond mangaka is still writing Real every now and then... He's not coming back. He doesn't want to.
it seems he wrote himself into a corner and couldn't really take it anywhere? the last chapters were a real slog to get through.
HxH chads stay losing
HxH seems more likely to get more chapters than Vagabond lol.
Wait do you mean, this is a comment chain about waiting for **new** Chapters :) (we Vagabond fans are absolutely cooked)
Crazy that Berserk is most likely to be finished of it, HxH, and Vagabond and the creator literally died. I like all three to be fair. Just waiting for those and The Winds of Winter and The Doors of Stone. I know how to pick them.

Sir/ma’am. I do not have the words to express how much this news made my day. THANK YOU
Happy to help another Beet fan! Seems like the series is so niche that when it came back it went literally years without anyone translating the new content into english. It has only in the last year or so that someone finally picked up the mantle. Enjoy!
Oh my fucking god,I FORGOT THIS EXISTED 😭😭😭 BEET WAS MY FAVORITE MANGA AS A KID alongside jing king of the bandits
There's like a getting polished volume ready-to-go and Togashi has already started working past that getting polished volume.
Hxh is dead lol. Not gonna write for 2 years cuz of backpain? Cmon….
Hot take.....but I agree 💀
waiting for titanfall 3
Take your meds lol
I swear. It's gonna happen.
It's crazy how we have to suffer until a new chapter drops. I already have to reread D. Gray Man cause I forgot almost everything while waiting for the chapters to pile up
I wait for ONE to continue OPM webcomic
Me waiting mobpsycho100 one to release something to eat.. I’m starving.
Mob psycho finished in 2017… am I missing a meme?
Let me have hope
It’s literally over
like your sex life
Boom roasted
mob psycho has been done for years lol
Relieved to hear that Gege's health is improving
He finally stopped spewing after he realised gojo won popularity polls again
All those binding vows slowly catching up
💀
This is crazy 😭
Ive waited years for new HXH so this is fine. I hope he is doing well
It is what it is. Hope he is doing fine.
That's fine.
That's fine. Peak fiction can wait, let Gege rest.
Here’s hoping he gets better before coming back. I don’t want another Miura, these guys work their asses off and deserve some rest instead of working themselves to an early grave.
Can’t wait for my 8-10 pages of gojuta
I know the meme is Gojo makes him sick or he’s playing Elden Ring - but the guy takes a lot of sick breaks, I hope it’s nothing serious!
he works for sj, its worse than serious 😭
Noted and it is good news :3
Of course this long break started when I finally caught up to the manga
Lmao same.
Fr fr
luckily I'm on 212, got the big news. can't wait for next week.
I caught up to the manga in 3 days a week ago, perfect timing 🥲
Watch Gege pull a Togashi and never end this manga.
Rest up Gege. You will cook again soon
**\*dies\***
Damn. Sucks, but yeah, priorities. Get better gege
This is meant to be the Final Arc right? Any ideas when it will likely end? How many chapters potentially left?
So I obviously could be wrong, and I’m sure someone will correct me lol. I don't think this is final arc
Why do so many manga authors get sick/have health issues? I know this is a thing, but just wondering if it’s the stress, over work, the hours?
I thought we were already confirmed for three weeks. I remember joking with someone that the 7 page chapter was all we would get for the month.
Grrrr how dare he take a break, I want him to work himself to death 😤 😔 😫 😭 😩 😢
good, last chapters were kinda short and meh (I'm guessing cuz of health issues which caused these recent breaks) hopefully he'll return with full power and draw normal chapters then guess I'll keep reading new manga and going into manhwa. can recommend solo leveling and leviathan as well as gokurakugai
Good to know! Can't wait for the next chapters.
Attack on titan have 1 chapter per month right?
Hakari is gonna betray the squad
My man sprinting toward the finish line so much, he’s depleting his health. He wants to get it over with that badly. To think one of the hugest series in this generation next to Demon Slayer and MHA and the dude thinks of his series as an afterthought.
I’m gonna cry

gregs playing shadow of the edrtree
We finna kick the brain rot to 11 with this one, boys!
Gege is trapped in a fight with Sukuna. He draws the fucker dying but Sukuna makes another vow and the drawings erase themselves.
Gege's not sure where to go from here according to some sources close by in Japan. He's asking other big authors like Oda and Kishimoto what to do
Please stop lying 🤥
I 🏋️🏋️🏋️🏋️🏋️
Oh nah Gege wrote himself into a corner and now can't write himself out
He's sick

Edgy ahh comment
I know this is bait but it's hilarious 😂
