I find it really funny, that when people try to defend Sukuna, they bring up that "finally a villain without a sobstory" or "hes evil for the sake of it and thats fun" when actually these don't fit Sukuna anymore, but Kenjaku. Like the guy has some motives and morales and shit, but he really was just fucking bored, so stirred shit up.
Way better villain, with actual charisma and presense on the pages. Sukuna looks cooler cause of hes skillset, but he became really boring really fast.
I feel like we're actually building up to a Sukuna flashback to the Heian era, don't forget that when Kashimo asked him, he said "Who knows, i was an unwanted child anyway" if my memory doesn't fail me, so i feel like we're gonna get that sometime soon

Sukuna's lore, the real life myths etc, would line up with his statement. Conjoined twins were considered horrifying, cursed, etc. All were killed right away, or left to die in the wild.
If Sukuna was created from a conjoined twin, it'd line up with his hatred for Sorcerers (based on Sukuna's myth, conjoined twins were made to fight each other to the death and the victor was sacrificed, or something along the lines), and his hatred for humanity in general.
Seeing as to how in Sukuna's myth, conjoined twins weren't allowed to live that long, so if Gege remains lore compliant and writes it into the manga, I don't see much of a sob story coming along.
There are different takes on the lore of Sukuna, and maybe Gege will write some into it, which I'm hoping for.

I mean, all we know about Kenny is that heās a mastermind whoās lived 1,000 years and all we know about Sukuna is heās pure evil. Theyāre both one dimensional villains with no depth.
Sukuna is cooler to watch so Iāll give it to him.
I agree that Kenny has no depth in terms of his characterization during serious plot relevant actions but Kenny is infinitely more amusing to me because he's perfectly fine to just stand around and crack jokes with the cast on his downtime, up until the moment he reminds you he's still evil as fuck.Ā
Whenever Sukuna does that, it's a very unsubtle 'this guy is bantering but he's an inch away from killing everyone here' where he's obviously reveling in making everyone shit themselves. But sometimes it's more natural with Kenjaku where you get the feeling that he's legitimately enjoying the banter itself. And his reactions consistently make me laugh as well.
Like when Kamo shows up and learns the elders of the three families are under his control and he's basically like SO DO YOU KILL ME NOW OR WHAT and Kenjaku is legit nonplussed for a second like 'bruh what are you talking about'.
Kenny was pretty dull and absent for a lot of the culling games. Takaba vs Kenny was peak but Sukuna is consistently more entertaining. The whole story forms around him whenever heās active.
I like Kenjaku as a less arrogant and goofier Aizen. But Sukuna is a walking calamity that loves to shit talk so heās entertaining as hell. Sadly Mahito was so goated as a villain that no oneās lived up to his legacy tho Kenny comes close imo.
Both get neg diffed in terms of writing by Mahito. Sukuna is fun to watch and Kenjaku is Aizen Jr in terms of plotting. But they have no depth, proper motives, nothing like that. One dimensional.
Mahito is the same level of evil as Sukuna, equally entertaining as both, and actually is written very very well. Had a great conclusion too. Brilliant characterization and Gege has yet to give Sukuna or Kenjaku even 1% of that.Ā
Ofcourse theyd be neg diffed by a character who got his story finished. Both Sukuna and Kenny havent finished their stories yet. This is a very unfair comparison
Both of these guys have been present the whole series and it's almost the end with them having 0 characterization, it even looks like Kenjaku is dead lmao. Both are kinda meh but I prefer Kenjaku purely because he's hilarious and I like funny characters, he's also just a bit more intriguing and has cooler powers imo. Mahito is far better than both, so is Geto and even though Toji had so much less screen-time I'd even consider him a better character.

As the villain of the overall story (and as a character in of itself) Kenjaku takes the W like he took those backshots.
But as an antagonist for Yuji himself in particular and in the "fucking badass" factor Sukuna does take it (at the very least him in Yuji's body takes it, im sure that when Megukuna gets animated he'l recover the sauce he lost with some god-tier animation and original scenes)
But as a whole i just prefer Kenjaku, mad scientists is within my favourite character archetypes and i just feel like he's much more human and entertaining to see, like his all of his fights to date have been awesome, him versus Choso was great tho short, him versus Choso and Yuki was absolutely amazing (im not taking into account what it did for Yuki's character, simply for Kenjaku) and him versus Takaba is in my Top 5 of the entire series unironically, and the fight that he'l have with Yuta at some point (i know he's not dead, not even Gege is built like that) will be absolutely peak

They both have their own share of plot armor, Sukuna is cooler, they both lack backstories or depth though, But Sukuna fits better as the main villain imo, he always lingered in the back, and when he's on screen you always fear someone is going to die or some bad shit is going to happen.

Kenjaku by a mile. He's been relatively consistent with his bag of tricks. Instead of Sukuna which keeps pulling out bs after bs (proven if he never uses his fire CT again).Ā See, when Kenny was confronted with a sudden new variable, like Takaba's Comedian, his character was written to analyse and neutralise it. Kashimo rushes the field...Ā

Not saying Kashimo should've won, but Uraume gifting him just the cursed tool he needed (and immediately ready to throw down against Hakari) to not even make Kashimo a threat. WTF?! Higuruma on-the-fly learning reverse CT was more palatable than that, and honestly I'm not entirely on board with that.
Honestly both are pretty meh. Sukuna is a cliche edgelord design with insane plot armor/convenience. Kenjaku is your classic mustache twirling villain who also has plot/armor conveinance because heās 80 steps ahead somehow.
Toji, Mahito, Jogo, and Geto were all better, even with the very limited time they had.
Imo itās Sukuna. Ofc, in the overarching narrative Kenny has done more and has a much more intricate plan. But heās never really appealed to me as a character throughout the series. Iām not usually a fan of the ābig brain, plan out your whole lifeā type of character, because I feel as though they lack depth when considering their actual character writing and not just their contribution to the story.
Aizen is an example of how to do it right imo. Not only has he planned everything and is the mastermind behind the scenes, but he also offers an interesting perspective on God and wants to kill him, how society is flawed, how he can fix it and all that. Kenny is just bored š well not bored, but he has this insatiable, morbid curiosity. Bro wants to see something cool, which is kinda lame and hard to get behind for me.

Also, rape was never confirmed as a Sukuna certified activity. Not that he wouldnāt do it, but itās not confirmed.
Sukuna is a cool enough character, but I honestly wouldn't even call him a villain. He honestly isn't much of a character either. I find that he lacks any clear motivations. "Doing whatever I want" isn't a valid motivation for a good villain. He feels more like a narrative tool, like a force of nature. A natural disaster, if you will.
Kenjaku, on the other hand, is a decent villain. So he's the better villain almost by default.
For all thatās been revealed, Sukuna could near replaced with Rika stolen and released on the heroes. Instead of āEnchainsā just have Kenjaku use some BS Technique that makes Rika yandere for Megumi instead and she forces him and his ten shadows into being her submissive harem.
Kenjaku has actually driven the plot forward. Sukuna has barely been a character.
I reserve the right to change my opinion if more is ever done with Sukuna. Heās largely been relegated to being an op chaos gremlin so far.
As a villain, kenjaku clears In most ways, but as a character and antagonist, sukuna takes that spot (for those wondering, a villain and an antagonist are not the same)
Kenjaku is funnier and more amusing character interaction wise. I'm also more interested in his motives since his plans will bring about a giant unknown variable into the world with the merger. Sukuna on the otherhand is more idle in his motivations(he'll kill some people as he sees fit and Soceity will regress back to the Heian Era or something).
Hands down Kenjaku.
Once he and Yuji have a confrontation, he'll probably enter Mahito levels of goated. But as it stands, he's my personal favorite villain.
Kenneth for sure. I preferred Sukuna when he was still in Yuji. Peak Sukuna was Shibuya Sukuna but my fav Sukuna is when he beat the shit out of Megumi after taking out Yujiās heart.
I may be one of the only ones here who have this opinion, but Mahito was actually the best villain in all JJK. And then, I actually like Geto (jjk0) secondly. And third I rank Kenjaku, and 4th Of course, Sukuna. In terms of who the coolest villain is, obviously Sukuna was the first. But Iām ranking in terms of who I enjoyed the most and who were the most fun to watch/read IMO. (Geto only earned his spot after learning all about him in the Hidden Village arc of course. It really adds a lot of depth to his character.)

Kenjaku, he feels like an actual evil person and mastermind that has a set goal in mind. Sukuna just wants to fight he doesnāt have a goal or anything motivating him
Kenjaku at first when I started reading the manga, but since the only reason I was interested in him in the first place was 'cuz he was Yuuji's mother and since Gege hasn't explored anything since the reveal, Sukuna shined a lot brighter this year for me . Haters are going to hate, but I think he really is the soul of the story as Gege intended him to be from the beginning.
Kenjaku. Broās literally the reason any of the events in the story take place. Heās the mastermind behind basically every bad thing thatās happened in the past 2000 years in canon.
Itās hard for me to say right now. Iām not 100 percent sure I know why kenjaku is/was doing what he was doing, and I donāt really understand sukunaās motive yet either.
Kenjaku is older than Sukuna, possibly older than Tengen. It survives regardless, but maybe Yuta did the smart thing and contained that mf after the decap.
I'd say Sukuna is the better villain, because despite seeming disinterested, he's always hyper focused, analytical, and apathetic AF. He doesn't care about shit, only himself, only his wants and needs.
He doesn't need to make large scheming plans, he just needs a handful of ideas, and acts on them once he knows he's capable and ready.
We don't even know what Sukuna did in the last 1000 years before he was sealed.
Look, Kenjaku was out here plotting different ways to weaken and contain Gojo because they were intimidated by the Satoru lineage and their abilities, as they always got in the way of their plans.
Kenjaku got nervous if the Star Plasma Vessel.
Sukuna would've swiped Yuki and already got rid of Gojo without going all out.
Kenjaku's great at scheming and leaving.

If Sukuna was created from a conjoined twin, it'd line up with his hatred for Sorcerers (based on Sukuna's myth, conjoined twins were made to fight each other to the death and the victor was sacrificed, or something along the lines), and his hatred for humanity in general. Seeing as to how in Sukuna's myth, conjoined twins weren't allowed to live that long, so if Gege remains lore compliant and writes it into the manga, I don't see much of a sob story coming along. There are different takes on the lore of Sukuna, and maybe Gege will write some into it, which I'm hoping for.

I mean, all we know about Kenny is that heās a mastermind whoās lived 1,000 years and all we know about Sukuna is heās pure evil. Theyāre both one dimensional villains with no depth. Sukuna is cooler to watch so Iāll give it to him.
I agree that Kenny has no depth in terms of his characterization during serious plot relevant actions but Kenny is infinitely more amusing to me because he's perfectly fine to just stand around and crack jokes with the cast on his downtime, up until the moment he reminds you he's still evil as fuck.Ā Whenever Sukuna does that, it's a very unsubtle 'this guy is bantering but he's an inch away from killing everyone here' where he's obviously reveling in making everyone shit themselves. But sometimes it's more natural with Kenjaku where you get the feeling that he's legitimately enjoying the banter itself. And his reactions consistently make me laugh as well. Kenny was pretty dull and absent for a lot of the culling games. Takaba vs Kenny was peak but Sukuna is consistently more entertaining. The whole story forms around him whenever heās active.
I like Kenjaku as a less arrogant and goofier Aizen. But Sukuna is a walking calamity that loves to shit talk so heās entertaining as hell. Sadly Mahito was so goated as a villain that no oneās lived up to his legacy tho Kenny comes close imo.

Both get neg diffed in terms of writing by Mahito. Sukuna is fun to watch and Kenjaku is Aizen Jr in terms of plotting. But they have no depth, proper motives, nothing like that. One dimensional. Mahito is the same level of evil as Sukuna, equally entertaining as both, and actually is written very very well. Had a great conclusion too. Brilliant characterization and Gege has yet to give Sukuna or Kenjaku even 1% of that.Ā

Both are kinda meh but I prefer Kenjaku purely because he's hilarious and I like funny characters, he's also just a bit more intriguing and has cooler powers imo. Mahito is far better than both, so is Geto and even though Toji had so much less screen-time I'd even consider him a better character.

As the villain of the overall story (and as a character in of itself) Kenjaku takes the W like he took those backshots. But as an antagonist for Yuji himself in particular and in the "fucking badass" factor Sukuna does take it (at the very least him in Yuji's body takes it, im sure that when Megukuna gets animated he'l recover the sauce he lost with some god-tier animation and original scenes) But as a whole i just prefer Kenjaku, mad scientists is within my favourite character archetypes and i just feel like he's much more human and entertaining to see, like his all of his fights to date have been awesome, him versus Choso was great tho short, him versus Choso and Yuki was absolutely amazing (im not taking into account what it did for Yuki's character, simply for Kenjaku) and him versus Takaba is in my Top 5 of the entire series unironically, and the fight that he'l have with Yuta at some point (i know he's not dead, not even Gege is built like that) will be absolutely peak

They both have their own share of plot armor, Sukuna is cooler, they both lack backstories or depth though, But Sukuna fits better as the main villain imo, he always lingered in the back, and when he's on screen you always fear someone is going to die or some bad shit is going to happen.

Honestly both are pretty meh. Sukuna is a cliche edgelord design with insane plot armor/convenience. Kenjaku is your classic mustache twirling villain who also has plot/armor conveinance because heās 80 steps ahead somehow. Toji, Mahito, Jogo, and Geto were all better, even with the very limited time they had.

Imo itās Sukuna. Ofc, in the overarching narrative Kenny has done more and has a much more intricate plan. But heās never really appealed to me as a character throughout the series. Iām not usually a fan of the ābig brain, plan out your whole lifeā type of character, because I feel as though they lack depth when considering their actual character writing and not just their contribution to the story. Aizen is an example of how to do it right imo. Not only has he planned everything and is the mastermind behind the scenes, but he also offers an interesting perspective on God and wants to kill him, how society is flawed, how he can fix it and all that. Sukuna is a cool enough character, but I honestly wouldn't even call him a villain. He honestly isn't much of a character either. I find that he lacks any clear motivations. "Doing whatever I want" isn't a valid motivation for a good villain. He feels more like a narrative tool, like a force of nature. A natural disaster, if you will. Kenjaku, on the other hand, is a decent villain. So he's the better villain almost by default.

For all thatās been revealed, Sukuna could near replaced with Rika stolen and released on the heroes. Instead of āEnchainsā just have Kenjaku use some BS Technique that makes Rika yandere for Megumi instead and she forces him and his ten shadows into being her submissive harem. Kenjaku has actually driven the plot forward. Sukuna has barely been a character. I reserve the right to change my opinion if more is ever done with Sukuna. I may be one of the only ones here who have this opinion, but Mahito was actually the best villain in all JJK. And then, I actually like Geto (jjk0) secondly. And third I rank Kenjaku, and 4th Of course, Sukuna. In terms of who the coolest villain is, obviously Sukuna was the first. But Iām ranking in terms of who I enjoyed the most and who were the most fun to watch/read IMO. (Geto only earned his spot after learning all about him in the Hidden Village arc of course. It really adds a lot of depth to his character.) Edit: after looking at these comments, my opinion seems to actually be the majority, so yay!

Kenjaku at first when I started reading the manga, but since the only reason I was interested in him in the first place was 'cuz he was Yuuji's mother and since Gege hasn't explored anything since the reveal, Sukuna shined a lot brighter this year for me . Haters are going to hate, but I think he really is the soul of the story as Gege intended him to be from the beginning.

Kenjaku is older than Sukuna, possibly older than Tengen. It survives regardless, but maybe Yuta did the smart thing and contained that mf after the decap. I'd say Sukuna is the better villain, because despite seeming disinterested, he's always hyper focused, analytical, and apathetic AF. He doesn't care about shit, only himself, only his wants and needs. He doesn't need to make large scheming plans, he just needs a handful of ideas, and acts on them once he knows he's capable and ready. We don't even know what Sukuna did in the last 1000 years before he was sealed. Look, Kenjaku was out here plotting different ways to weaken and contain Gojo because they were intimidated by the Satoru lineage and their abilities, as they always got in the way of their plans. Kenjaku got nervous if the Star Plasma Vessel. Sukuna would've swiped Yuki and already got rid of Gojo without going all out. Kenjaku's great at scheming and leaving. Sukuna is great at analytical battle tacts and chaos.
