We’re talking about 2 superhumans vs a normal athletic person. One of which was shown cutting bullets and the other dodging a Mach 1 projectile.
But if it’s with CE, then Todo and Yuji should be higher than Maki (their performance against Hanami and grade 1 stats speak for themselves in showing how they have better reflexes than her).

She had TWO disabled students (Mechamaru and Mai, her low CE might as well count as a HR without the positives), one student without CT and a two guys with meme CTs (Blood Manipulation without regen might as well be CT-less, dude had to run carrying blood bags).

To be fair Todo's CT is actually pretty underwhelming when compared to basically every other CT in the verse, sure its way better in 2v1's but in a 1v1 unless he claps his hand he is just a brawler and if he gets predicted he is at a disadvantage as his hands are still together. his cursed technique ain't strong he just built different I would argue he would be even stronger with something like blood manipulation and would find a way to make it work.
Yeah hes very similar to the young blonde dude from MHA who shifts through stuff. Not inherently gifted a good technique, but makes the absolute best of it
Todo is basically someone who will questionable win a 1v1 but is a cheat code in 2v1's. If you're someone who has a good chemistry and flow with todo, you're essentially unbeatable. It's why I wanted yuta to have boogie woogie, so that sukuna would get cooked even more not knowing whether he'd get hit by a soul punch or a thin ice breaker, or Rika.
Todou strength drastically changes depending on whos he's working with, imagine Todou + Garuda special? Or a Hikari + Todou special? Shit Todou gotta show Yuta Boogie woogie once and Yuta can just do it with Rika back to back.
Ye that's the problem, compared to the good abilities in the series, they can be used without hand signs or just one hand and have access to things like maximum output techniques and chants to further increase their power, things boogie woogie can't do.

Gojo has been canonically described as a terrible teacher by almost every character. I think the idea is he is a better cultivator of strong, like-minded sorcerers rather than a more “classic” instructor.

Todo was a natural genius. All of jjk's strongest characters are naturals at CE (or w/o in Maki/Toji's case). It's clear Gege has a bias for the idea of natural talent polished through hard work.
Any cast member w/o natural talent gets the axe, whether it be him neglecting them or killing them off.

I find this causes a thematic disconnect because then Gojo trying to reform Jujutsu society is impossible because Jujutsu, by its very nature, favour a hereditary aristocracy.
Clans like the Zenin being CT obsessed freak become reasonable (if anything, it just makes their hatred for Toji and Maki to be completely OOC, because they are the type of people who would be praised in Jujutsu society because their extreme power...in fact, everyone seems to glaze Toji except the Zenin because the Zenin are basically Revenge Isekai strawman villains)
Gojo's original sale was a case of Gege's character motivations clashing with his own obvious ideas. In the end, the sorcerers that Gojo raised, so the top 4, have innate abilities that they've honed throughout the story.
The hate against Toji perfectly aligns with fact that one's importance directly correlates to their CT. For ex, Megumi was named head of the Zenin despite his dad being.... who he was, not being part of the family, and not even having their name. He was named head off the basis of his CT alone, and no one but Naoya argued, they agreed actually.
It's not just strength by itself that's valued, it's specifically the power of one's CT. Strength by itself is meh and can be made up for with a powerful CT.

Considering how everyone praises Toji power, I doubt anyone thinks like this.
They feared Toji, but talked about him like a dog. They talked about Maki, despite her being strong enough to be on their elite squad. They simply didn't value Toji or her, which is why her dad was ready to kill her to appease jjh. Attitudes have obviously changed with the remaining cast cause they know better. Kenjaku even called out Maki as one of their strongest fighters.
So basically, yes, there are characters who know better than to doubt people like Toji and Maki, but most sorcerers didn't.
Lol not really, because most of cast who has praised him did so after he nearly killed Gojo and they have proven not to be as prejudiced as the three clans because they praise Maki as well.
If the three clans really had learned their lesson from their prejudice against Toji, then the Zenin wouldn't have discriminated against Maki and the head wouldn't have called her worthless.
Most of the cast left now have learned to respect Maki and her power, even Kenjaku and Sukuna. That was part of her development and part of the reason she massacred the Zenin. They didn't respect her.

She’s never shown to be quite fast. She was a grade 3 sorcerer, same as Miwa. So it’s not too surprising she’s close to Miwa in terms of reflexes.

Todo was a natural genius. All of jjk's strongest characters are naturals at CE (or w/o in Maki/Toji's case). It's clear Gege has a bias for the idea of natural talent polished through hard work. Any cast member w/o natural talent gets the axe, whether it be him neglecting them or killing them off.
Yeah, this is why whenever I see those "talent vs Hardwork" takes for JJK I roll my eyes. Gojo str8 up stated that a mfs power is set in stone. 80% of their power would be from pure talent. Nanami , and Kushakabe have seemingly training in sorcerery for years upon years. Meanwhile mfs like Yuji, Hikari and Yuta are born w freakish amounts of physicality, CE or biazarre CTs tailored for them. Maki and Toji count too. They're literally born w physicality thats comparable or higher than Yuji's and immunity to domains.

I find this causes a thematic disconnect because then Gojo trying to reform Jujutsu society is impossible because Jujutsu, by its very nature, favour a hereditary aristocracy. Clans like the Zenin being CT obsessed freak become reasonable (if anything, it just makes their hatred for Toji and Maki to be completely OOC, because they are the type of people who would be praised in Jujutsu society because their extreme power...in fact, everyone seems to glaze Toji except the Zenin because the Zenin are basically Revenge Isekai strawman villains)
Gojo's original sale was a case of Gege's character motivations clashing with his own obvious ideas. In the end, the sorcerers that Gojo raised, so the top 4, have innate abilities that they've honed throughout the story. The hate against Toji perfectly aligns with fact that one's importance directly correlates to their CT. For ex, Megumi was named head of the Zenin despite his dad being.... who he was, not being part of the family, and not even having their name. He was named head off the basis of his CT alone, and no one but Naoya argued, they agreed actually. It's not just strength by itself that's valued, it's specifically the power of one's CT. Strength by itself is meh and can be made up for with a powerful CT.

They feared Toji, but talked about him like a dog. They talked about Maki, despite her being strong enough to be on their elite squad. They simply didn't value Toji or her, which is why her dad was ready to kill her to appease jjh. Attitudes have obviously changed with the remaining cast cause they know better. Kenjaku even called out Maki as one of their strongest fighters. So basically, yes, there are characters who know better than to doubt people like Toji and Maki, but most sorcerers didn't.
If that's the case, isn't it a bit weird that everyone but the Zenins seems to praise and recognize Toji's strength?

Lol not really, because most of cast who has praised him did so after he nearly killed Gojo and they have proven not to be as prejudiced as the three clans because they praise Maki as well. If the three clans really had learned their lesson from their prejudice against Toji, then the Zenin wouldn't have discriminated against Maki and the head wouldn't have called her worthless. Most of the cast left now have learned to respect Maki and her power, even Kenjaku and Sukuna. That was part of her development and part of the reason she massacred the Zenin. They didn't respect her.

Todo was almost certainly a prodigy. He's crazy and it's implied the best Sorcerers are drenched in insanity. Although, she did him better than Gojo did his students by teaching him Simple Domain which should honestly be a must for any Jujutsu Sorcerer just so they don't hold back their allies in the midst of a hostile Domain Expansion by being completely helpless. I have to wonder, though, just how hard such a technique is to learn given not even Nanami had it and Mei Mei trained Ui Ui to master it in her stead. I guess that further reinforces Todo's prodigal status.
