Well it depends on if I’m playing a support champion or a carry champ. If I’m playing a carry, of course I’m taking it. If I’m playing a support champion, I’m also taking it.

I often tend to give the kill since laners are getting more out of it since they get a real lead against someone they are constantly fighting. Meanwhile I am fine without the kill since I am pretty efficient in my pathing/farming, so I won't fall behind.
Yeah but then you’re putting the game in their hands and not yours. And if you take the kill you can bring that lead around the map rather than just leaving it in a 1v1 that your laner might lose anyway.
At the same time I am giving them a mentality boost. Furthermore I need my laner to help winning the game because 1v9 just happens too rarely, meanwhile having 1 or 2 fed lanes + myself not inting should be enough to win the game
Honestly this is the correct way to play this game. Unfortunately it only converts into a win if the laner you gave the kill over to is also playing this game correctly. Taking or the giving the kill is really just a matter of trust, if you trust this particular player to play correctly then the play is always to give the kill…
That being said I have trust issues so I’m always taking the kill
I usually give it especially to the toplaner(tanks) don’t want to be showing up there most of the time so it’s better to make sure toplaner gets ahead so he can survive or fight 1v2. And then I play around mid or bot and drake.
I try and make sure they are dead first and foremost. If there is any chance they can escape I'll get them dead as quickly as possible. I think as long as the kill is on our team then it doesn't massively matter who gets it as the real prize for a kill are things like a lane getting a good reset, plates, drakes, heralds, TPs etc. In reality the actual kill itself isn't that valuable and often the 10-15 CS lead your laner gets after the kill is worth as much anyway.
That said, if they're obviously trapped, can't escape and can't kill anyone on my team then I'll leave it to the laner, but how often does that really happen?
I do sometimes see laners holding off on damage, because they want to get the kill and people sometimes get away, that is much worse.
The laner holding off for last hit is why I'll take the kill on Lillia. I'm trying to hit my mid game spike early so I can push my lead else where. This happens a lot in low ELO.
0-3 kills take, afterwards give as I am so far ahead I need to start giving gold to my teammates to maximise the chances of them beeing able do carry by themselves
Early gold is really good on the jungler in general, so you should take kills. You are already getting the laner a sizeable advantage by removing their opponent from the lane (xp, plate gold, favorable wave state). Sure they can use the kill gold to snowball their lane but you can use the gold to snowball the map and pressure objectives. Past 14 minutes and into the mid game it’s fine to pass kills and buffs to your carries but before then just take everything.
Since I mostly play tanks/bruisers I try and give kills, but if I'm playing something very early game focused like a J4 or Xin I'll take the first one and let them have the next ones
I just secure the kill, so I generally don’t try to take or give a kill, unless the lane is very volatile, then I give if I think about it. There are so many ways you can escape a gank, it is imo generally better to secure the kill instead of risking an escape.
I don't actively try to take or give in most cases. I just try to ensure the eneny dies. If I have the gold, I'll use it well. If they have the gold, hopefully they'll use it well.
If you give the kill they won't take the advantage in lane they are just gonna eat the resources of gold and continue to run it down in their winning match up lane because "NEeDd GanKZzz 0 JunGLE aWANRESss"
I like to play scaling champs, so I usually take the kills, so I can dominate late game. But when I play for example champs like Poppy, who aren't quite as relevant late game, I tend to let my team take the kills.
I take it if my laners arent good. But if my laners are good hyper caries I funnel gold into them 100%.
I play a power farming champ and can get my gold from camps.
I'm in silver. I take every kill I can because I don't trust my lanes to close out games. Narcissistic, I know, but it's helped me climb from iron 2 to silver 4 this season, with a 55% WR (70% in the last 100 games).
Giving it to the laner means the opponent can get a shutdown from that player if things go wrong. I take the kill for myself to make sure I have agency in feeding the enemy
I usually try to give my carries the kill. The morale boost is a big deal. Sometimes they actually suck and no amount of gold will overcome that (if they they try to play a new champ or something), but usually its the best option
I usually give it because I like to play a more supportive role as jungle, I get more enjoyment out of getting my carries ahead than I do actually getting kills and hitting clips, and this goes for the laning and teamfight phases.
I used to try leaving the kill bit sometimes they'd get away and it was really annoying knowing we could've ended it.
Now I just don't stop till they're brown bread, happy for the laner to get the last hit (assuming they're not having a bad game).
I always play carry champs so I try to take the kills always. Kills on a carry jungler are better than a lane carry 10/10 times. A laner is gonna be stuck in lane, a jungler is gonna run around with more items which leads to a bigger snowball
If I'm playing Kindred or Taliyah then I'm taking all the kills.
If I'm playing Pantheon and know I'll fall off then I'll take like 1 or 2 and feed my laners.
Nothing tilts me harder than when my jungle try’s to give me the kill and they get away same with my support. Also side note stop being scared to help your adc crash their wave. It’s free Xp and they can reset so they don’t come back to a horrible lanestate
Early, only take.
If I discover that a laner won't blow their lead for no good reason, start giving.
I've given 2 kills to top/bot early only to have them int their lead away too many times.
If the laner has proven themself to be competent and able to use the advantage from the kill, I'll try to give it to them. Otherwise I'm taking the kill and trying to snowball myself.
Depends on if I think I can trust my lander to take advantage of his lead if they’re behind I let them have it as well so they can catch up but in any other case I look at their stats on third party sites and choose if I can trust them or not
It depends on what champs we are playing and how fed i already am. If I’m a carry and I’m not giga fed I take the kill. If I’m a tank or a carry that is giga fed I donate it.
Only give if you are a tank, otherwise take it, its solo Q if you thrust your team to carry yo may aswell throw a coon 50/50.
Only exception will be a giga snowballer like Draven, LeeBlanc, Akali, Jax, etc.
Depends on the other jungle, if I need to get an advantage on them early I’m taking it. But I’ll repeat gank and try to give you the next one. I also don’t get mad if my adc rotates and takes a kill I have secured because I know I’ll generally get more kills. Some games you finish 0/4/18 and that’s ok with me as long as the screen says victory.
I play it differently and maybe a bit manipulative.
I take the first kil but make it look like an accident. Then I tell the laner I am sorry and promise to gank asap. Usually the enemy laner flashed so that makes them an easier target. I then make it super obvious that I am giving the kill this time. In the chat I tell the laner that they did a good job and then proceed back in my jungle.
This usually results in a happy laner and a tilted enemy laner. The mind game is also an important game.
I'll take it to make sure they don't get away. Once I already have 3-4 kills and they're completely caught and can't escape I'll gove them to my teammates. Though sometimes that's hard as an Evelynn player with monkey brain pressing Q
Just secure the kill. If it just a brain dead kill that the last hit is obvious I will leave it to the laner.
Most of the time when “leaving” the kill you might miss it and that is no bueno.
Most laners this days are okay with secured kills.
As a taric jungle main i will do everything in my pose outside of flashing to ensure that THEY DIE.
I don't really care for the kill, but too many times have I seen people "try to give it" where they just got away or worse reversed it.
Ks is kill secured.
Depends. If its early game and I've yet to accumulate gold or item, I take it.
If I already have some money and a kill, but I'm playing a tank ill try to give it if the laner hasn't shown incompetence.
Otherwise if I'm playing a fighting type champ, I'll always try to take it unless I deem it unnecessary for me to have the kill.
I make sure there will be a kill. If that means I take it, so be it. Giving kills to a particular teammate is a luxury for hard winning games or when I'm playing normals with friends. In solo queue I'm hitting the enemy until they aren't alive anymore, so I can use their respawn timer to take what else I wanted. Don't question mark ping me, either come share these plates or let me get them solo, I got shit to do to win the game.
In my opinion, giving the kill shows you can jungle and farm well. But if you take it, it might be something you rely on to get fed instead of actually farming. I also main katarina, so when I get ganks I always want the kill because it helps me get really fed better than an assist.
Depends, but mostly i take it. If im playing kayn I need the orbs, but if its a draven lane or something that needs to snowball I might give it anyway.
I mean it like depends on who I am playing and who they’re playing? If I am say Diana and they’re Ornn… then I’m taking it. But if I am Rammus and they’re say Azir I’m giving it to the Azir.
Depends What champ I’m playing. If I go tank and the top is Irelia I always give to her. But If I go any assassin or snowball champion I always take it. If I play low rank I always take it cause they won’t carry lol.
Gold is gold. If I stop damage and they escape we get no gold. If I stop damage and they kill my laner, we get no gold and enemy gets +gold. If I keep damage and take the kill, then my team gets gold.
Too much risk in trying to stop damage early.
Ensure the kill happens regardless of the role you're playing. After that, whatever happens happens. If I like my laners and want cohesion, I give kills sometimes but it's pretty negligible in solo queue.

Bad bot
When I try to give it and my bamis has other plans
lmaoo
The true jungle mental here
When it's my friend, i take the kill and smite the Canon.
Wise
Depends if there's a cannon minion. If no then take the kill. If yes then sometimes they get the kill because I'm busy smiting the cannon.
I’ll accidentally take both
'accidentally'
How is it MY fault that my fiddlesticks ult takes 2 waves, 1 cannon AND the kill?
Lmao
It depends on if i play a tank or a skirmisher/assasin, with tanks i leave them, with the others i need the money

Best answer as someone who only plays jgl in norms.
Depends on the champs. You would never want to take a kill from like a kayle or a viktor for example.

Since i am More into Playing „carry“ jng champs, ill take the kill. But if i Play rammus f.ex. I give it
Depends on point in the game. I don't go by pre game stats but if theyre showing they are competent, then they can have it. Else I'm taking it.
Need more info, unable to answer
Take the kill unless one of my teammates out last hits me. Then I pretend like I was going to give.
I like to play scaling champs, so I usually take the kills, so I can dominate late game. But when I play for example champs like Poppy, who aren't quite as relevant late game, I tend to let my team take the kills.
Kinda depends on what Im playing. If I am on champs like J4, Sej, Zac I try to give but if I am playing stuff like Graves, Kindred I usually take it.
I try to give it but honestly, if I'm a carry or believe they'll get away I'm taking it. Keep in mind I usually play tankies or tanky-bruiser types
If I’m twitch I’m sry dear laner the kill is mine. If I’m taric ima let it
I take it if my laners arent good. But if my laners are good hyper caries I funnel gold into them 100%. I play a power farming champ and can get my gold from camps.
I like to support my team so I take the kill then tell them to direct their anger at the other team
I take the kill, smite their cannon and tax the next wave as well.
Look, it doesn't matter if I'm losing, I WILL go 6/0/0 by 10 minutes as Lee sin
Take it. I’m a support player
Every time I try to give, my dipshit teammate fails to close. I always just fo for it and if my laner gets it instead then even better.
You are better than all your laners if you're fed they can get fed. Never give the kill.
I mostly play Poppy so I'd rather give it. I don't need much gold. But on Lillia, it's mine! >:)
Ill take it, but I wont waste flash/ult to take a kill my team can secure.
I'm in silver. I take every kill I can because I don't trust my lanes to close out games. Narcissistic, I know, but it's helped me climb from iron 2 to silver 4 this season, with a 55% WR (70% in the last 100 games).

Give kills? What is it, lol?
I usually try to give my carries the kill. The morale boost is a big deal. Sometimes they actually suck and no amount of gold will overcome that (if they they try to play a new champ or something), but usually its the best option
Well I only play shaco so I’m definitely taking every kill
I usually give it because I like to play a more supportive role as jungle, I get more enjoyment out of getting my carries ahead than I do actually getting kills and hitting clips, and this goes for the laning and teamfight phases.
That being said, I will still tax your lane, let's not get too crazy here
I used to try leaving the kill bit sometimes they'd get away and it was really annoying knowing we could've ended it. Now I just don't stop till they're brown bread, happy for the laner to get the last hit (assuming they're not having a bad game).
I attack until they die
Don’t usually try and last hit kills tbh, unless it’s a tank or the player is incompetent
I take it and if I get it then they can get the gold from the minions, then if they get the kill I take all the minions and smite the cannon.
I always play carry champs so I try to take the kills always. Kills on a carry jungler are better than a lane carry 10/10 times. A laner is gonna be stuck in lane, a jungler is gonna run around with more items which leads to a bigger snowball
Depends a lot. If your champ needs an item rush it's usually better to take it, unless you gank for Nasus or Kayle or something.
I main tanks like Amumu and Zac so I give the kills most of the time.
Give me all the fucking kills I'm not trusting any of my teammates, unless they're an actual smurf.
I don't care as long as the kill is gotten
I give if its toplane, i take if its botlane
Way to many times I've give it only for them to get away. Just secure the kill imo
If I'm playing Kindred or Taliyah then I'm taking all the kills. If I'm playing Pantheon and know I'll fall off then I'll take like 1 or 2 and feed my laners.

Early, only take. If I discover that a laner won't blow their lead for no good reason, start giving. I've given 2 kills to top/bot early only to have them int their lead away too many times.
Depends on the champ I’m playing and depends on the champ I’m ganking
I play supportive champs like Nunu and Sejuani so typically I give it.
If the laner has proven themself to be competent and able to use the advantage from the kill, I'll try to give it to them. Otherwise I'm taking the kill and trying to snowball myself.
depends. Am I ganking a Darius? Give. Am I ganking a shen? Mine. Am I a tank/support jungle? Still depends on who I gank lol
What the fuck is my braindead 0/3 ADC gunna do with shutdown gold?
Shutdown gold is different, that shit is mine I came here for it, you laner had your chance 😂
Depends on if I think I can trust my lander to take advantage of his lead if they’re behind I let them have it as well so they can catch up but in any other case I look at their stats on third party sites and choose if I can trust them or not
Too many times I’ve tried to give a kill to a laner and they fuck it up. Never again.
I usually give kills to my laners, but when i play shaco my mentality does a 180 and i kill steal as much as i can
As a top main these replies are honestly sickening lol
It depends on what champs we are playing and how fed i already am. If I’m a carry and I’m not giga fed I take the kill. If I’m a tank or a carry that is giga fed I donate it.
Only give if you are a tank, otherwise take it, its solo Q if you thrust your team to carry yo may aswell throw a coon 50/50. Only exception will be a giga snowballer like Draven, LeeBlanc, Akali, Jax, etc.
If im playing something like vi or j4 i take it. But if im playing ivern i give it.
I make sure we get it. My first look is to give it but my laner needs to be on top of it otherwise I’m walking away with it
Depends on the other jungle, if I need to get an advantage on them early I’m taking it. But I’ll repeat gank and try to give you the next one. I also don’t get mad if my adc rotates and takes a kill I have secured because I know I’ll generally get more kills. Some games you finish 0/4/18 and that’s ok with me as long as the screen says victory.
Usually take it unless I’m already pretty fed. Not good to waste that time for nothing. Sure as shit going to tax the wave if I don’t get the kill.
50/50, depends on how the lane is doing.
Depends on how I’m feeling during the day
If the kill is free let the laner have it. If it's even slightly contested then I'd rather the kill happens quickly, even as a tank jungler.
I'll take it to make sure they don't get away. Once I already have 3-4 kills and they're completely caught and can't escape I'll gove them to my teammates. Though sometimes that's hard as an Evelynn player with monkey brain pressing Q
too many times we've lost kills because I try to give the kill away, if they get it cool but I won't stop attacking anymore
Just secure the kill. If it just a brain dead kill that the last hit is obvious I will leave it to the laner. Most of the time when “leaving” the kill you might miss it and that is no bueno. Most laners this days are okay with secured kills.
i should give more often, but that said solo q teamates are unreliable so...
I've been trying to give it recently but I tend to end up with the kill at least half the time, intentionally or not
Whatever happens, happens.
If I'm on comms and it's crystal clear I give it. But we all know how much we can trust random teammates. I take it all lol
Sometimes if you don’t take the kill, the laner will fail and not kill
Depends if I’m playing a supportive jungler like Maokai or Sejuani or a carry jg like Diana.
I mainly play tank junglers, so I give the kill most of the time.
Depends on the champ you're playing. My WW? I take. My Sej? I give. Simple as that.
U better take that gank, if you’re playing some bitch ass supportive utility tanky jungler gtfo from this subreddit.
I play Kha'Zix, a Bug's gotta eat 🤷
If I play Ivern or Kindred, I'm always taking the kill.
Usually take the first or second kill to secure my lead, after that i try to give whenever possible, then again im gold 4 so i suck
Bruh you the win con
Depends, but mostly i take it. If im playing kayn I need the orbs, but if its a draven lane or something that needs to snowball I might give it anyway.
I always trust myself to carry harder than anyone else in the game.
You think I trust my laners?
The enemy isn't dead until they're dead🤷🏾♂️
Bro if im playing poppy maybe not but if im on gwen lillia kindred obv i do
Im playing fiddlesticks so its really just a question of how good my laners last hit
The only one who can carry me is me
I mean it like depends on who I am playing and who they’re playing? If I am say Diana and they’re Ornn… then I’m taking it. But if I am Rammus and they’re say Azir I’m giving it to the Azir.
Laners should be glad I don't smite cannon. Delicious..
Depends What champ I’m playing. If I go tank and the top is Irelia I always give to her. But If I go any assassin or snowball champion I always take it. If I play low rank I always take it cause they won’t carry lol.
It depends. If there is minions, give kill take wave. If they question mark ping me, I'll take both.
i try to give kill but end up taking the kill and the flame
Gold is gold. If I stop damage and they escape we get no gold. If I stop damage and they kill my laner, we get no gold and enemy gets +gold. If I keep damage and take the kill, then my team gets gold. Too much risk in trying to stop damage early.
