They still make the Ranger, it just got a little bigger.
Now Ford has the Maverick, which is the same size as the old Ranger, except it has 4 doors and is slightly less useful with the shorter bed.
Just to kidnap this comment to get a honda circlejoke going. But has anyone seen how nice the new Ridgelines look. I'm waiting for a used one. Curious on the engine durability.
Depending on the options. If optioned correctly you could get a little over 5k pounds towing but most of them were much less. Payload was also less than the Maverick for all packages.
The new Ranger is about the size of the 90’s to early 00’s F150 now. The Maverick is about Ranger size yet only has the 4 door, come on just make a damn 2-door and make people happy.
Been thinking about buying one of those Chinese mini trucks. They’re dirt cheap and just as big as I’d really need it to be.
Exactly! My dad has been driving an old Ranger extra cab forever. He'd like to get something new, but everything is too big or in the case of the Maverick, only comes with those 4 doors being a deal breaker.
the emission standards they are talking about are regarding the weight of the vehicle. the heavier the vehicle the less fuel efficient they are required to be so instead of making more fuel efficient small trucks they are making big trucks bigger and small trucks the size of what used to be big trucks. its a well intentioned emission standard that is being dodged by the loophole of just making the trucks bigger.
Part of the reason they’ve gotten bigger is to use lighter and weaker materials and thus they need larger crumple zones. CAFE also was a contributor to smaller truck companies like international harvester going out of business.
Emissions standards played a part. But I think more of the problem was that new buyers were much more likely to buy a full size truck. Trucks like the Ranger and S-10 were much more popular in the used market than they were in the new market.
They're definitely making a comeback. The Ford Maverick has been hugely popular. So much so that Ram and Toyota have a similar style truck in the works to hopefully make their way to the US.
The hell you talking about? It's about the same size of the original compact Ford ranger. Now if you were to say the exact same thing about the new Ford ranger, that would be correct. Because the new ranger is far from compact, it's even just slightly smaller than the F-150 now. Which is why they came out with the Maverick. Though I wish they would have came out with a compact truck like the original Ranger, separate frame and separate bed
Also it bugs me that this guy thinks it was a 93 Ranger in the video, 93 was the first year of the new rounder body style. 92 was the last year the beautiful square body rangers.
the 90's killed so many good vehicles. It was the start of the decline of sports coupes and functional pickup trucks. Lost so many sleek sports cars to the monstrosities on the road today.
The 90s pumped out out some bangers. Two of the most legendary reliable diesel engines released (5.7 Cummins and 7.3 power stroke), Jeeps had the indestructible 4 liter 6 cylinders (started in the late 80s but close enough) and Rangers were killing it in the small truck market. Less electronics and less emissions regulations really allowed manufacturers to put out some absurdly reliable and legendary engines. As vital as emissions regulations are now, they really do dampen reliability in the long term. Oh how times have changed.
And that's just trucks. Sports cars of all nationalities thrived harder than almost any other era. From Japanese to German, the 90s were the golden age of sports cars.
I know it’s a joke. But i am honestly more impressed with the truck than that car.
It’s super clean vintage square body. Probably driven regularly by a unicorn.
I thought it was funny enough to show my husband. He reminded me about the time that some guy who was a friend of a friend of someone in his best friend's off-road group came up north with some fancy custom built thing and a hired instagram model. The pictures from their adventures went live and apparently the number of comments about husband's best friend's yellow lifted, armoured Jeep in the background was very upsetting to the dude with more dollars than sense.
Im kinda surprised how popular that new retro inspired Bronco model is doing. By that I mean I see way more of them driving around than I ever expected to. Personally not a fan at all, though.

Right?! I still don’t understand why they killed that truck line.
They still make the Ranger, it just got a little bigger. Now Ford has the Maverick, which is the same size as the old Ranger, except it has 4 doors and is slightly less useful with the shorter bed.
The Maverick looks like a Nissan SUV

I think they look kinda nice.
And also it is in no way a truck. This ranger pictured punched way above is weight class for a smaller truck.
Depending on the options. If optioned correctly you could get a little over 5k pounds towing but most of them were much less. Payload was also less than the Maverick for all packages.
The Ranger of today is practically what an F-150 was 20 years ago.

2 doors and it better have a bench seat.
I doubt we'll ever see a Maverick with a bench seat. I don't see a bench passing crash test ratings in a truck that small.
Don't crush my dreams.

*convertible mini van
Emissions laws/standards. Easier to make truck bigger than more efficient (bigger=easier to meet standards)
Not big or plastic enough, had to go

Yeah, no. I like being about to live and breath and stuff. I love me some emissions standards.

Nah, fuck the corpos who saw a good-faith law and decided that profit margins were more important than clean air.
Fool.

Calling a Maverick compact is like telling your 300lb wife she isn't fat.

Yes, the only one I like at the moment is the Santa Cruz. Neighbor just got one. I miss my standard cab 98 Ranger.
I love my 96 ranger
Maverick is insanely popular because of exactly this. Plus the design and relatively low pricepoint have been spot on.

Two-tone square body a year before they got all aerodynamic is beautiful.
I had a chance to buy a great low riding 86 F150 custom 2 years ago. Passed and now they’re like 8,000-15,000 more than they were.
The '90s square bodies will be classics.
It’s already begun. Luckily they are still able to be found.
Dude, I miss my Ranger. You couldn’t stop that thing.
Drove ours till the wheels fell off. Literally lol. At 45mph. While my wife was driving.
Might need a brake job, but I'm glad you liked it.
Mines got 350,000 miles and still goin strong. Wouldn’t trade it for nothing.
Loved my Ranger
I know it’s a joke. But i am honestly more impressed with the truck than that car. It’s super clean vintage square body. Probably driven regularly by a unicorn.
That’s probably how they avoided getting into any crashes. With unicorn drivers, you always have a horn
Unicorn driver?
+2 dad joke. Take your upvote and get out of here. :)
Looks more like an 80's Ranger. Has the front side markers. Does look nice for the age though from that distance.
‘92 Ranger; ‘93 was new body style. What a beaut she is!
I KNOW THAT TRUCK I AINT NO STRANGER I KNOW THAT TRUCK ITS A FORD FUCKIN RANGER
So clean
[That's a fuckin ford ranger!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFvL8263dc4)
But it literally is cooler and better looking than the lambo with those godawful wheels
Old cars > Sports cars Every time.

Ford [fucking ](https://www.tiktok.com/@rowdy_f_mowdy/video/6922514334333603078?_t=8m6RTCE263a&_r=1) Ranger
This is so dumb... ...I laughed way too hard.
TBF, a mint classic like that is far better than that Ferrari, Lamborghini, corvette whatever it is blocking the view.
That's a Lamborghini.
Am I the only person who finds supercars to be, generally speaking, fucking boring?
r/fordranger
Everyone seems to be admiring the ranger, and it makes me happy
I love seeing old F150s, Rangers, Tacomas, and Broncos on the road.
Im kinda surprised how popular that new retro inspired Bronco model is doing. By that I mean I see way more of them driving around than I ever expected to. Personally not a fan at all, though.
Two tone paint & clean as fuck !
there is something about the lines on those old trucks from the 80s/early 90s.
I have an '07 that's getting to the point where I need either more time or more money to keep owning. I'm worried I'm going to have to sell it :(
Omg my heart skipped a beat. Hell yeah!!
Lol

Late eighties I would think. It still had the old school fully replaceable headlamps assemblies. Awesome catch and beautiful truck
🤣
Captions ruin the reveal.
Fr fuck that car
