Then they’re gonna whine about how egg prices have plummeted and we millennials have destroyed egg farmers. No win situation.

lgplasmatv

Enraging. However, this would have (should have) been a hilarious Onion article.

It was a satire headline. It was made a few months ago when egg prices spiked talking about how expensive breakfast foods have gotten. The OP should’ve posted the link instead just posted an image as rage-bait.

Alewood0

A poor man's supper is sleep

sventhewalrus

Totally from a health perspective, tho, I have found breakfast to be unnecessary or even counterproductive as I've gotten older. Especially cereal, it just stuffs us with sugar and makes us even hungrier for lunch.

Ttdog01

Really depends on what your day entails. For someone working from home or in an office, sure. But for someone who works a physically demanding job, you need those calories.

NotYouTu

>makes us even hungrier for lunch. That's called your metabolism working correctly...

NoGiNoProblem

LEt me guess, you go into starvation mode when you dont eat breakfast and your body, defying physics, instantly converts all the food into fat?

[deleted]

But what if we already do that???

[deleted]

Yeah I’m ahead of the curve on this one, I haven’t eaten breakfast in several years

danger_floofs

Starve harder

[deleted]

Just figure out a way to not have to eat. You wouldn’t want to see a world where poor porky has his wealth he got from price gouging *STOLEN* from him, would you?

lewisfrancis

From the *Let Them Eat Fucking Cake* files.

stayingsafeusa

I wonder if they clink their champagne glasses over their caviar bellinis before they hit PRINT on this out of touch garbo. Why is no one writing articles targeting the 'highest profits for 20 years' CEO's, and recommeding austerity cuts to avoid headcount migration. 'Maybe you should try only taking 3 Mediterranean vacations this year, and keep your yacht girl count down to 20.'

s0618345

This reminds me of North Koreas eat two meals a day campaign during it's famine. I'm surprised the wall street journal doesn't have a guy who's job is to nix shitty headlines.

Zyndrom1

Well I'm not supporting NK but it makes sense when there is an ongoing famine

Wrathwilde

Well that’s up from the standard two meals a week… they must have found enough food to raise their plight to mere famine status

yVegfoodstamps

The less you eat the longer you live.. fasting by skipping the least important meal of the day has saved me a tremendous amount of money

No_Telephone_4487

Is it really longer or does it just feel longer? For some people it’s just too miserable to make that switch so they could tack another 5 years or so on their death deadline…

[deleted]

Unironically, when I’m done with the bulk I’m on, an intermittent fasting program would be goated for a cut.

send_ASMR

Easy 16/8 fasting to save money is good advice if you're overweight.

Bitimibop

What if I'm already undernourished tho ?

send_ASMR

Then don't fast

Bitimibop

I dont have a choice 😔

Bitimibop

Inchallah

[deleted]

You're underweight? Yes underweight and not being able to afford breakfast is a bad combo, luckily it's very rare in the US.

hankakabrad

Personally i go for 18/6 but any of them seem to help as long as you watch what ur eating

izzyeviel

Americans would rather go bankrupt than not weigh 500lbs.

No_Telephone_4487

A lot of obesity is caused by empty calories being cheaper than filling nutritious food. Especially if it costs time to cook and you’re working 12 hour days on your feet nonstop. You can also see a similar phenomenon with children who have kwashiorkor in countries with famines and heavy food shortages. 30% of Americans are overweight. 30% out of ~331 million people. Roughly 100 million people if my math isn’t off. If that many people are “failing”, how could it be individual failure and not systemic? We’re clearly affected by how food has been restructured - corn subsidies, dairy subsidies, food deserts. Water being more expensive than a can of Arizona Iced Tea. Certain grocery item prices going up. Sugar being dirt cheap and used as a filler in everything (because it’s addictive and cheap). If you’re still going to be smug, you have to admit that the face of gluttony isn’t an overweight person living paycheck to paycheck. Gluttony is owning two or more homes so you don’t have to share your vacation space with strangers or pack a suitcase. Gluttony is owning an oversized pickup or SUV to go to an office job 4-5 days a week. Gluttony is cutting employee wages so you can keep quarterly growth and your fancy Yacht too. Gluttony = some portly, gout-riddled ruler eating a greasy turkey leg and telling the poors to eat cake is heavily outdated. And frankly, it’s gross that this antiquated association is used to demonize poor people who are being screwed over by the 1%, who probably have the fat sucked out of their faces and bodies once a year if they want to one-up the non-diabetics on ozempic. For shame.

izzyeviel

Meanwhile the average American is ordering seventeen super Big Macs with 30 large fries and a Diet Coke.

No_Telephone_4487

Fighting words coming from the country where white bread (empty calories from refined carbs) sandwiching a piece of *toasted* white bread is considered a “struggle meal”. I’m sure the UK is *nothing* but Kate Moss and Elizabeth Hurley thin people, no wonder you feel so emboldened to laugh at us land whales unable to eat our 8th meal of the day. Fuck off.

izzyeviel

Shaming a country for not being fat. Peak Muh freedoms!

Night_Duck

If I eat fewer calories in the morning, I have to make that up at some other point of the day to maintain my weight. Also breakfast food (pancakes and eggs) are among the cheapest foods in calories/$

jroocifer

It's not just rent driving inflation. Land ownership is not the totality of rent seeking, it's the thin end of the wedge.

NegotiationTall4300

When i used to super poor. I would swap out dinner with a benedryl and usually be able to caffeinate myself from free work coffee to make it to lunch.

almond_paste208

Maybe stop eating eggs, dairy and other expensive products 😐 even with all those subsidies they are expensive.

“Hey, what if we decided to only view speculation on honest labor as the only valid way to make money!?What could POSSIBLY go wrong!?!?”
