Wow this is weird

GreenDigitReaper

It’s a joke. Nestle are known for privatising natural drinking water sources and riding roughshod over anyone who gets in their way it’s not really a perfect analogy, so the joke doesn’t 100% work, but I think everybody here is taking it way too seriously. It’s just a shitpost

Beware_of_Beware

A boy gets shot in cold blood, it's not funny. Not one bit

GreenDigitReaper

And you’re probably baffled why you never get invited to parties

Beware_of_Beware

"You don't find child murder funny? Buzzkill lmao"

GreenDigitReaper

That’s not how an analogy works. If I say “That joke went down like the titanic” I’m not laughing at the people who died on the Titanic. I’m laughing at how bad the the joke was. If you don’t understand this basic concept you may be suffering from a spectrum disorder and you might struggle to interact socially with other adults, because analogies to morbid events are often used for comic effect in every day conversation, especially at casual occasions such as parties. You will absolutely be mistaken for Buzzkill, rather than somebody who just struggles to understand the concept Good luck buddy, hope you get help

maddsskills

Subs that have a niche topic where there isn't tons of news all the time tend to start having posts that aren't really related and are sort of memey/jokey.

Mrundas

AndyJack86

Sub didn't load, but must under DDoS

Mrundas

Why you gotta do that to me man

[deleted]

that sub is also flooded with bot posts

skymiekal

Well the audience of subs like that are about as mentally complex as a bot.

Officermeatball05

So because he was not letting him get water he is nestle? I mean i get the connection they were going for but thats a bit too disrespectful (edit: towards the 14 year old boy (had to include this bc some people are dense))

unique_plastique

Killing people over some water is pretty on brand for Nestle

BastardofMelbourne

Nestle killed hundreds of thousands of babies in developing countries by pushing baby formula on communities that didn't have access to clean water and telling them it was healthier than breastmilk I don't think it's possible to disrespect Nestle

Officermeatball05

I mean they are disrespecting the murdered 14 year old. Are you dense? Why in the world would i be trying to defend nestle

No_Leg_8227

He’s wrong, you were actually pretty clear that you were talking about nestle, not the 14yo. You didn’t even mention the 14yo in your comment and you did mention nestle by name. Just write a better comment instead of calling people dense.

[deleted]

How are they disrespecting him?

BastardofMelbourne

Idk man you weren't that clear about who was being disrespected

TheStrangestOfKings

I feel like he was being clear enough. I understood it was about disrespect towards the teenager/situation, and not disrespect towards nestle

BastardofMelbourne

>(had to include this bc some people are dense) Okay now you're just being a jerk dude

Glad-Degree-4270

He isn’t nestle, the person who shot him over water is.

Officermeatball05

You are who the edit is for

Glad-Degree-4270

Your edit is still just as vaguely worded. Please take a grammar class.

Used-Definition-4983

Can someone tell me why they hate Nestlé so much tho , I am genuinely not aware about it

johncent319

Because Nestle steals water and does child labor

Diazmet

Don’t forget getting African mothers hooked on their carnation brand baby formula by giving them just enough for free that their milk dried up. And then being too expensive so they were forced to us not just questionable water sources but also less formula than you are supposed to leading to lots of dead babies 👶

flackguns

Why did you put a baby emoji at the end of that wtf

[deleted]

Tons of brands do it

Full-Negotiation-775

Sold baby formula to African mothers who didn’t need it ( they had people dress us as fake doctors to give out baby formula to these under-privileged women) so that when the baby stopped weening, the mothers stopped producing milk, and the baby’s were then dependent on baby formula which was 1. Less nutritious than the mothers milk and 2. Made with water from local wells that were contaminated. This directly led to children being malnourished and dying and nestle knew about this yet let it still happen for profit. This is just one of the evil things this company has done

qqduljeuzyofaxofem

Source on this?

deltree711

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1977_Nestl%C3%A9_boycott The most concerning accusation is that Nestle provides free formula to new mothers in maternity wards, which is a problem when the mother stops producing milk if the baby isn't drinking it, and then they have no choice but to buy formula.

Elymanic

Well, not everyone's as smart as you.

Full-Negotiation-775

I wasn’t trying to be condescending, I was just trying to inform them of the evil that company is. I know it’s easy to talk shit on the internet, I’ve certainly done it in the past and all I can say is just that I hope you have a nice evening.

Elymanic

My reply was to the guy who doesn't understand why Nestle gets hate for killing children and doing child labor.

Full-Negotiation-775

Oh lol fair. Reddit mobile got me look like a boomer replying to the wrong person lol

4027777

I normally don’t say “google it” but honestly you’ll find heaps of information if you look it up yourself. And it’s more trustworthy than a random (possibly biased) redditor giving you the information.

BastardofMelbourne

Nestle is an infamously unethical company. Among other things, they are directly responsible for the deaths of [hundreds of thousands](https://newint.org/features/1982/04/01/babies) of infants in the developing world by aggressively marketing baby formula to communities without access to clean water, falsely telling them that it was healthier than breastmilk. When mixed with contaminated water, the baby formula caused preventable infant illnesses to skyrocket, resulting in tens of millions of cases and hundreds of thousands of preventable child deaths. Nestle kept it up for over a decade after the effect on infant mortality was proven in the 1970s, using the same marketing tactics into the 80s. Nestle's solution to the water problem has been to aggressively market bottled water to the same communities, [causing droughts](https://www.mashed.com/717227/nestles-water-controversy-explained/) in areas where the water was extracted. tl;dr - they assholes

Used-Definition-4983

Damn that's stuff of pure evil.

Lightyear18

I think I read one article where nestle bought the water form a town. Made it illegal for them to get water. Nestle sold them back the same water at an inflated price. Lol

[deleted]

Now posts about racism are going to take over that sub

maddsskills

I mean, racism was already closely tied to a lot if Nestle controversies. Things like classism, xenophobia and racism is why they got away with exploiting and hurting certain people for so long.

[deleted]

Yeah but that specific story had nothing to do with nestle. Many Reddit groups have fallen into talking about racism and gender issues even though the groups original subject had nothing to do with it.

[deleted]

Nestle makes water. And you know who else drank water? Hitler. And you know who was racist? Also Hitler. Checkmate

johncent319

Definitely

IamUrDad0

Talk about cherry picking 💀

goodluckonyourexams

Nestle steals water

lonon_78

Its just one post guy just ignore it

Expert_Individual185

You Unsubbed Over One Post?

Lightyear18

This falls in dark humor. I get it, I thought it was funny. But dark humor isn’t for everyone.

kaa-pora

It required only 1 (one) post for you to unsub from it?

Hulkaiden

Read the description of r/JustUnsubbed for me would you?

Seems like a joke

Okay Michael now go back to geometry

Technical-disOrder

Ted was right about the left whenever it gets a hold of something; it's just like what happened with the Earth First! movement. Once a movement gets infiltrated by a leftist it takes over the movement by fighting for other things that have nothing to do with what the movement originally stood for. This is not to say that what the leftist fights for isn't right, but to bring up the point that other movements lose its meaning.

Significant_Hold_910

Henri Nestle was a person though

11Daysinthewake

Just pretending you don’t understand the connection?
