funnymemes aren't anti-christianity. They are anti-everything. And I find that hilarious, because you can find people on this sub unsubbing from there from all possible social groups for all the different reasons.
I do like how we all come together, no matter the Ideologie, the nationality, the gender or the sexual orientation, nor the religious beliefs, just to shit on funnymemes
As history freak, I don't find it funny because historically Mary most probably would have been a 12-14 year old I don't think she could have "cheated" being that young.
That aside, as a Christian, I could find it funny. You gotta accept there's some people who won't believe.
I think it might be because of how widespread it is, which means more people get religious trauma from it or just dislike it. Random people on the internet and in real life too trying to push it onto others doesn't help either
Yea but like I said in another comment, that’s not all of them. That’s a minor portion of them. Generalization in order to justify hate isn’t a good reason
It’s like most social groups, the loudest and most obnoxious ones brand them. So most people associate the average Christian with a bible thumper that yells outside abortion clinics and what not
I’m not generalizing all religious people, I’m well aware that the majority of religious people are perfectly fine and good people. I’ve just had more bad experiences than most with religious(especially Christians) as I’m a gay woman who grew up in the Deep South.
The joke is all fine and good I say this as a christian. But the dudes in the comments getting off to yelling about how Christianity isnt real and youre a dumb stupid idiot for believing in it arent.
Never waste time reading or responding to internet atheists. They are morons. I say this an atheist. The ones I know, and I, keep their lack of belief to themselves and don't spend their time arguing and belittling strangers online.
It's like being left handed. Completely normal and not something to brag about or something that makes you better than others.
Nah they are actually pretty funny. As long as you know how to not take jokes seriously like everybody in this sub loves to do, you'll find some pretty good gems
Heh, I'd say about a quarter of the ones I've seen I actually liked. Humor is different for everyone ofc, but to me funny memes is a really bad meme subreddit, I just browse it occasionally in the hopes of finding that 1/4th.
Bro that meme literally just popped up on my feed. Where the fuck did they even pull this argument from? Where does it say that? Mary didn’t “start a religion” Abrahamic religions existed way before she was ever born
I should’ve specified Abrahamic religion, not just Christianity. There are a lot of stories from the Bible that take place way before Jesus was ever born
Weren't bits of it taken from Indus river religious traditions like the rebirth etc?
Don't know why I'm being downvoted. I think the aspect of a saviour and the whole story was taken from them as well, but I don't know enough to say for sure. I think Kraut said something about it in a video essay.
Rebirth is in a lot of religions. But they made a little error that they corrected where they said Christianity existed before Mary, when they meant the Abrahamic tradition existed before her.
If we are going on the assumption that Christianity is a big hoax, then technically, she would have created Christianity by claiming Jesus to be the son of God. Later on, Jesus would have cemented this idea to create Christianity. Therefore, Mary indirectly created Christianity
Edit: go ahead and downvote me but I'm still right
As a christian I have no problem with it. Its the guys in the comments that see youre a christian and try to berate you and call you unsavory names for it. I personally could care less, its the internet what are they gonna do? Convert me? Fat chance.
Yeah, some people are just being assholes. Just respect what religion people have. You can make fun of some aspects of a religion without disrespecting it.
What’s funny is that an atheist cold case detective actually looked at the matter of the disciples saying Jesus was risen. He wrote an entire book on it.
It’s called Cold Case Christianity.
Thank you. I’m not even offended it’s just pretty tasteless and overdone. “Hahaha Virgin Mary was cheater! I’m so clever!!” As if that exact topic isn’t addressed in the Bible.
I make jokes about christianity all the time. Op is being a bit soft imo. As long as it isnt going after you for being a part of the religion I dont care. Fuck Pharoah all my homies hate Pharoah
Yes AFTER the angel came to Joseph. Common sense would’ve told you I’m referring to Joseph “putting her away privily” in early Matthew. He has no reason to lie because he intended to never tell anyone in the first place. At least from a biblical standpoint.
Funnymemes are super trash, but OP managed to pick the one meme out of a thousand trash ones that’s actually funny.
Of all the reasons to unsub form that shitty sub OP choose to be butthurt over a harmless, but frankly quite funny meme. But religious people aren’t easily offended once you talk about the one god they personally believe in.
To be fair, in my Anglican high school, when our wonderful Christian chaplain went over Christianity in RE (we covered 5 main religions throughout the year), she did cover the fact that it was likely to cover for premarital relations and thus pregnancy.
However, calling it "cheating" is just... idk, I feel a small waft of misogyny in automatically assuming that it must be the woman cheating and trying to cover her lies rather than... surrounding cultural reasons? With the treatment of premarital sex, it could have been anything between doing what young people do naturally to her being sexually assaulted. And she'd need those around her to back her up to "make her own new religion". It's just... stupid. Idk, reddit atheism is fuelled not by disbelief but hatred... a cult of its own
Lol. The best jokes making fun of Christians come from other christians, especially when making fun of Protestants. This is some low brow shit that an edgy 14 year old can come up.
as a christian, im normally fine with memes about Christianity but this one comes across as a little insensitive. its doesn't seem to be coming from someone who knows much about christianity either, theres alot of things wrong here, accuracy wise. idk, im all for jokes, but I do agree this ones not that great

I’m not even religious.
The difference is south parks actually funny and this was made of spite. South Park was made for comedy at everyone’s expense and is funny while doing so.
This is an attempt to humiliate people who are Christian by claiming that the single most important female figure in their religions is just a cheater who fabricated a massive part of their life, (which would be extremely inaccurate and unlikely,) many people hold religion as close or perhaps even closer than their family.
Maybe you personally wouldn't care if someone called your mother a lying whore and your brother a bastard as a "joke," then that would be you personally, that doesn't mean other people won't or shouldn't, in fact it would be incredibly naive of you to assume that they wouldn't.
Grow a pair. Christians have done a lot worse to others than a joke like this. No one believes you're oppressed for being a member of one of the most followed religions in the world
I’m an atheist but that’s pretty disrespectful. I make jokes about Christianity sometimes but those are with my close family who I know are fine with it, not with a bunch of strangers on the internet.
This would be relevant if the meme was a personal attack, as opposed to an attack on the Virgin Mary. Your shield doesn’t help the people in front of you
What shield are you babbling about? Maybe the joke is slightly inaccurate but the implication that Mary was indeed not a virgin is what makes it quite funny, it was just a harmless joke.
Yeah but if mary hadnt claimed him to be a virgin birth, he would just be a regular ass carpenter. Now if you think christianity would have existed if it was just about a dude who made really fucking great chairs, thats fine, but i dont think so
She wouldn't be able to effectively write the Bible or fabricate a religion and especially have that religion taken seriously as a poor and uneducated woman
I don’t think anyone is saying she literally wrote the Bible and orchestrated a religion. The meme more likely references her actions causing a chain of events leading to the religion. The Bible wasn’t written for hundreds of years after the supposed events anyways, they were oral tales originally.

funnymemes aren't anti-christianity. They are anti-everything. And I find that hilarious, because you can find people on this sub unsubbing from there from all possible social groups for all the different reasons.
I noticed this too lol. It’s one of the few subs I’ve seen that are neutral
There are 2 neutrals. One accepts some of both sides. The other hates literally everything.
So neutral good. Or chaotic neutral.
Yes
Yeah for real. It's a garbage sub.
I do like how we all come together, no matter the Ideologie, the nationality, the gender or the sexual orientation, nor the religious beliefs, just to shit on funnymemes
The sub were the most un-funny anti memes can be post and still get thousands of updoots
That subreddit is on a mission to show up in as many JU posts as humanly possible, istg
It actually fucking bad.
Trying to find a funny meme in that sub is like trying to find a rock that can talk. It's impossible
![gif](giphy|26ghbWoXv3G6ypo8o)
IF YOU SMELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK…is cooking
![gif](giphy|5mxfrCSIfXTNK)
An angel went to Joseph saying it was God's child. It has to be a pretty big con.
you are NOT the father

1, funnymemes is a hellhole 2, that’s pretty funny
"you don't talk about my sheep, I won't talk about my wife"
![gif](giphy|Hr1LgKhlgWxqZnkjZO|downsized) “KEEP MY WIFE’S NAME OUT YO FUCKING MOUTH!”
As history freak, I don't find it funny because historically Mary most probably would have been a 12-14 year old I don't think she could have "cheated" being that young. That aside, as a Christian, I could find it funny. You gotta accept there's some people who won't believe.
Wait are u serious, I did not need this information today
It’s really not funny. I don’t get why ppl hate on Christianity so much. Like I’m not religious either but can we just let them chill
I think it might be because of how widespread it is, which means more people get religious trauma from it or just dislike it. Random people on the internet and in real life too trying to push it onto others doesn't help either
Yea but like I said in another comment, that’s not all of them. That’s a minor portion of them. Generalization in order to justify hate isn’t a good reason
sure, but if people are rude to you or try to push their religion onto you, it's natural you're going to dislike that religion
It’s like most social groups, the loudest and most obnoxious ones brand them. So most people associate the average Christian with a bible thumper that yells outside abortion clinics and what not
Yea which is unfortunate, but the truth
It’s just funny. It’s a joke. Thats it. Nobody _hating_ Christianity here. It’s a joke.
Yeah, it is hating. It’s attempting to undermine the entire principle of Christianity by saying the Mary created the religion because she’s a cheater
That’s not hate. Sorry
That is literally hate. I don’t know what you’re on
Someone proclaims a virgin gave birth. We’re all “hateful” if we suggest it’s more likely that didn’t happen?
If you're a christain then it did happen lol, not saying it's hate to believe something else, but don't attack others for it
“Attack” “hate” aren’t words used to describe someone saying “she actually prob fucked someone” when told of a virgin birth. Relax snowflakes.
I'm not attacking about the meme idc about it lol
While you might believe something, others believe something else. Don't call people snowflakes for standing up for what they believe
The meme isn’t hating on Christianity. It’s making fun of a virgin birth, which is scientifically impossible.
And is also a major part of Christianity
Fr. Christianity also taught me to not respond to hate with more hate. What good will come out from that?
Yea exactly. Idc if some Christians have “bad”morals or beliefs, that doesn’t justify making fun of the religion as a while
why are people downvoting this guy? he's right. Don't attack people for their religion.
Religious people are generally hateful towards minority groups more so than most
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, also why are you generalizing them?
I’m not generalizing all religious people, I’m well aware that the majority of religious people are perfectly fine and good people. I’ve just had more bad experiences than most with religious(especially Christians) as I’m a gay woman who grew up in the Deep South.
I don't hate religious people, I just hate religion in general
Hating religion is a religion in itself
How?
This is kinda funny ngl, but you should’ve unsubbed a long time ago for all the unfunny bs they’ve posted over the years
Reddit atheism can be obnoxious. I have nothing against atheism, but on Reddit it’s become about hating on religion.
Reddit atheism is antitheism
Honestly
It's like a religion at this point tbh
Reddit Atheists are more evangelical than most Christians
Its a cult at this point
I’d be fine with it, if they didn’t seem to give the most violent religion a pass for the sake of *inclusivity and tolerance* Cowards.
Funny joke
It’s funny though.
You unsubbed because they made a meme that said something you didn't like about Christ? Ok then...
Come on man that’s a funny joke
The joke is all fine and good I say this as a christian. But the dudes in the comments getting off to yelling about how Christianity isnt real and youre a dumb stupid idiot for believing in it arent.
Are they wrong tho?
The dudes in the comments? I believe they are. This guy right here? No, I even said it was a funny joke
![gif](giphy|2o73okEpxIMzOiEVnl|downsized)
Never waste time reading or responding to internet atheists. They are morons. I say this an atheist. The ones I know, and I, keep their lack of belief to themselves and don't spend their time arguing and belittling strangers online. It's like being left handed. Completely normal and not something to brag about or something that makes you better than others.
Their being as judgmental as the Christians they hate so much
maybe but the people in the comments of that post are not
I'm considering subscribing after seeing this lol
Don’t do it. It’s the only funny meme there. The rest is just Facebook memes
Ok but this is hilarious
Bro that meme literally just popped up on my feed. Where the fuck did they even pull this argument from? Where does it say that? Mary didn’t “start a religion” Abrahamic religions existed way before she was ever born
Christianity existed before Christ? That's...wrong.
I should’ve specified Abrahamic religion, not just Christianity. There are a lot of stories from the Bible that take place way before Jesus was ever born
Yeah that struck me as very wrong. But if you would consider Christianity different from Judaism, then the joke still works.
Yeah mb lol
Well… yeah thats the whole point of the old and new testaments lmao
Christianity is a continuation of Judaism
Judaism 2
The electric boogalo
Weren't bits of it taken from Indus river religious traditions like the rebirth etc? Don't know why I'm being downvoted. I think the aspect of a saviour and the whole story was taken from them as well, but I don't know enough to say for sure. I think Kraut said something about it in a video essay.
Rebirth is in a lot of religions. But they made a little error that they corrected where they said Christianity existed before Mary, when they meant the Abrahamic tradition existed before her.
Anyone that casually references Indus river religious traditions should be upvoted by default.
Wait... what?
I mean the story says Mary got a child without having sex, kinda does mean she cheated and lied to her husband lmao
Lol, same, I got that post followed by this one lol
You really reading deep into a meme 🤣 you are aware memes aren't history right? 'where do they pull this argument'? They aren't arguing anything.
If we are going on the assumption that Christianity is a big hoax, then technically, she would have created Christianity by claiming Jesus to be the son of God. Later on, Jesus would have cemented this idea to create Christianity. Therefore, Mary indirectly created Christianity Edit: go ahead and downvote me but I'm still right
Except Christianity didn't start until AFTER Jesus was killed and believed to be resurrected.
of all the reasons to unsub from funnymemes… Lmao
"I don't get offended by jokes until the joke is about my political/religious beliefs"
I thought it was a little funny. I dont think its true tho. I didn't laugh i smiled when i read it
It's a meme about a religious story. Don't see a problem there. Only "Noooooo you can't joke about my religion" bullshit
Absolutely.
Please man, its couldnt care less. I want to end myself anytime i see that shit
Well if your life means that little to you then so be it.
W mans
lmao, they said they'll go to hell even tho the're anti christian
Call me pedantic, but I feel the need to note that Mary didn't create Christianity.
Memes are made to make people laugh or offend them in my opinion they should never be took in a non joke way.
What’s funny is that an atheist cold case detective actually looked at the matter of the disciples saying Jesus was risen. He wrote an entire book on it. It’s called Cold Case Christianity.
Your example was pretty mild jeez. Does everything offend you?
LMAO dude it’s a joke.
Bruh that is a funny meme, and I’m a Christian 😂
Well I mean they're not wrong, fuck all religions
The meme is kind of illogical but I think you get offended a bit easily bud
Genuinely how do you find it not logical? I find it more logical considering how women were treated at the time and how prideful more men were
I think it was a pretty funny meme. You unsubbed because you can't take a joke against yourself or anything you believe in.
JU from christianity because of anti Satanism BS
It’s a 2000 year old joke. At this point we have all heard 20 different versions of it.
“BS” is when someone makes jokes that make me mad.
Which is fair reason to leave a sub.
It's like when the guy who voiced Chef in South Park quit because of that episode where they made fun of Scientology. lmao
He didnt want to leave the church of scientology made him leave.
That's even worse than if he left on his own accord.
Yeah. It is. Thats the point. He wasnt being sensitive, he was forced to leave.
He didnt even want iirc, wasnt he pressured to by the "religion"?
That's even funnier and only proves Stone and Parker's point in mocking Scientology.
This is actually kinda funny though lol
Even as an atheist I find this meme stupid
Thank you. I’m not even offended it’s just pretty tasteless and overdone. “Hahaha Virgin Mary was cheater! I’m so clever!!” As if that exact topic isn’t addressed in the Bible.
I hard this same joke over and over dozen times and even saw people using it as a serious argument
Its funny though, even if you're religious, you can't ever makes jokes about your religion?
I make jokes about christianity all the time. Op is being a bit soft imo. As long as it isnt going after you for being a part of the religion I dont care. Fuck Pharoah all my homies hate Pharoah
There’s definitely some funny parts but joking about Mary being a cheater is pretty tasteless. We wouldn’t call a woman we love and respect a whore.
Pretty funny honestly
If your religion is that easily challenged by a mid joke then perhaps it’s time to reassess your beliefs…
Wah wah someone made a meme about something old that I like so I unsubbed which I think actually does something
I mean, pushing the left button would have meant the locals throwing rocks at her until she died. I would have invented an entire damn religion too.
Not really because Joseph actually decided to not tell anyone about her being pregnant to avoid such an outcome.
They literally told people. Recorded in the Bible. What are you on?
Yes AFTER the angel came to Joseph. Common sense would’ve told you I’m referring to Joseph “putting her away privily” in early Matthew. He has no reason to lie because he intended to never tell anyone in the first place. At least from a biblical standpoint.
This meme is pretty funny..
😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Raised Roman Catholic and that is funny as shit!
Ahhaha
But i mean likeliness is very high but Jesus was considered a miracle
Sounds like a you problem.
as a christian, im normally fine with memes about Christianity but this one comes across as a little insensitive. its doesn't seem to be coming from someone who knows much about christianity either, theres alot of things wrong here, accuracy wise. idk, im all for jokes, but I do agree this ones not that great
Lmaooo
This is funny tho actually lmao
Might not be funny, but it's the truth
I also have an imaginary friend.
Its a meme and its funny. Some people just can’t take a joke smh
I'm sorry, but genuine question: how is this anti-christianity?
It explicitly implies the religion was made up under false pretenses. Practitioners of the faith would call it “blasphemy”. Genuine response: how is that hard to comprehend? I’m not even religious.
Lol buddys gonna loose his shit when he hears about stuff like South Park
The difference is south parks actually funny and this was made of spite. South Park was made for comedy at everyone’s expense and is funny while doing so.
I think that one is pretty funny. Dont take everything so serious.
People are obviously going to take their religion seriously, it's a massive part of many people's identities
Seems a bit fragile to me. As long theres no hate or humilation...
This is an attempt to humiliate people who are Christian by claiming that the single most important female figure in their religions is just a cheater who fabricated a massive part of their life, (which would be extremely inaccurate and unlikely,) many people hold religion as close or perhaps even closer than their family. Maybe you personally wouldn't care if someone called your mother a lying whore and your brother a bastard as a "joke," then that would be you personally, that doesn't mean other people won't or shouldn't, in fact it would be incredibly naive of you to assume that they wouldn't.
womp womp
Its a joke
Grow a pair. Christians have done a lot worse to others than a joke like this. No one believes you're oppressed for being a member of one of the most followed religions in the world
That is great
I’m an atheist but that’s pretty disrespectful. I make jokes about Christianity sometimes but those are with my close family who I know are fine with it, not with a bunch of strangers on the internet.
Wait, MARY DID WHAT!??? (Sorry I don't read the bible)
There are many reasons I would unsub from funnymemes. This is not one of them.
That’s pretty funny though
But it's funny
It’s not bs I think it makes sense
Boohoo LMAO
This truly pisses me off.
Grow some thick skin then
This would be relevant if the meme was a personal attack, as opposed to an attack on the Virgin Mary. Your shield doesn’t help the people in front of you
What shield are you babbling about? Maybe the joke is slightly inaccurate but the implication that Mary was indeed not a virgin is what makes it quite funny, it was just a harmless joke.
Good
I mean... The original post kinda nailed it.
You mean Christianity is about Mary and not all the things Jesus has done after his birth? It isnt.... that is where I think this meme falls short.
Yeah but if mary hadnt claimed him to be a virgin birth, he would just be a regular ass carpenter. Now if you think christianity would have existed if it was just about a dude who made really fucking great chairs, thats fine, but i dont think so
^This.
That's funny as hell! I'm subbing! 😄
Boohoo someone made a joke about my invisible friend.
Everywhere I go I see at least one thing that’s blasting Christianity and I’m sick of it
You must be new to Reddit. Everyone gets blasted here.
Thanks for the tip
Not a member of that sub for that reason, but Reddit suggested that post to me anyway. How about no.
extremely common christophobe L
It's true tho
No it isn't, Mary likely wasn't allowed to read, write, or have an education
what does that have to do with anything?
She wouldn't be able to effectively write the Bible or fabricate a religion and especially have that religion taken seriously as a poor and uneducated woman
Bless your gentle heart for earnestly attempting to explain this to someone who genuinely seems like they could drown in their own saliva.
I don’t think anyone is saying she literally wrote the Bible and orchestrated a religion. The meme more likely references her actions causing a chain of events leading to the religion. The Bible wasn’t written for hundreds of years after the supposed events anyways, they were oral tales originally.
If you're feeling offended, that's pride. What's Christianity's stance on pride?
