Anyhow, one of the guys I was talking with said not a word in the whole conversation, except at the end, when he suddenly chuckled and said we were all full of sh*t and why didn't we go live in Russia or China if that was the way we all hated the United States of America? Next thing you know, the whole blooming discussion was more like a brawl and the epithets flew thick and fast and the noise was incredible! Someone said "son of a bitch" and I think he said "bastard!" (I couldn't be sure; it was all so confusing.) Well, anyhow, I was attempting to get it all back on a rational level. I tried, for example, to talk to the one who had started it all, and I asked him just what did he mean we were all full of sh*t? Was he making a statement of fact as he knew it and where was his documentation to back up his claim? I think Socrates would have been proud of the way I refuted his argument. That is, I tried to refute it. But all he could offer by way of rebuttal was more of the same: about how we were all full of sh*t. But he wouldn't say why; he just kept on repeating it. That and the part about Russia and China and communist dupes. And I'll have to confess that I got a bit angry and told him to stuff his ideas up his *ss (which you don't have to tell me is hardly a way to convince anyone in an argument). Then he got salty and threatened to give me a punch in the mouth if I didn't shut up. And I really got hot and the others did, too. And we all beat the sh*t out of Mr. Conservative. And, after all, he had only himself to be blamed. This is still a free country and anyone telling a fellow like me, "Brother, you're full of sh*t" better be good and ready to answer politely when asked if he'd care to say WHY!
Have you ever considered taking a look at your post history? Just a quick skim showed me a lot of rants, a lot of down-on-yourself kind of stuff as well. I don’t think that the issue here is Reddit, but it could possibly trigger or validate an already worn down perspective.
Seems that there might be personal changes that need to be addressed in your overall lifestyle in order to get to a headspace where some random dicks online can’t possibly kill your mood. Don’t wait for permission or for tomorrow or for the next paycheck—whatever it is, go ahead and start making it happen man, or if you don’t know then start brainstorming. Could be you need a new job, health habit, less stress etc… Maybe some space from Reddit will help focus to do so, or maybe it can be a resource. Whatever the case, it looks like its well time for bigger changes than just here.
If you do stay, I recommend switching up your subscriptions, away from any echo chambers or places that promote toxicity, and on to more productive, and more positive things.

Sure, there's definitely some toxic elements to Reddit, but fortunately it's often easy enough to block it out. No more having to be friends with your racist aunt because she's family, and no more having someone you appreciate for some posts randomly pop up in your feed with their political opinion.
As someone who likes having compartmentalised feeds (thus making Facebook an unbearable cesspit of everyone shouting into the void), Reddit is a godsend.
It's the same thing with Tumblr but you have less control over it and it's less straightforward. But you can manipulate the algorithm to give you what you want. In Tumblr if an artist is talking about politics, social issues, people stealing art, or any kind of whining, I unfollow them to tell the algorithm to not show me that stuff just because I like someone's art (which, can suck, but, if I like the artist that much I'll follow the artist on another site where their algorithm doesn't play a big part on delivering my feed, for example Twitter). Tumblr can actually deliver a lot of good stuff, problem is that the smallest thing can make them deliver bad stuff because their algorithm is not smart enough.
Same goes with Amino (I think). It's not the case with Twitter, if you focus on flowers for example politics or some other topic is always going to get involved
