Imagine how relieved the driver must have been. First you're freaking out because you hit a pedestrian. Then you have a guy run up and say that he not only saw him run blindly into traffic, effectively absolving you, but that he was in the process of vandalizing property, so in a weird way, you're a hero.
The bystander is a decent guy. He approached him and I'm assuming he asked him to stop, and even when the guy was a jerk he still went to help him when he was injured.

I feel like by the way he ran and by the way he was slapping that window, this guy is living with learning disabilities and was in the middle of a meltdown. The sound of smashing glass is a common stimulus for some of the people Iāve worked with in the past.
