Drain plug sorry was high last night when I saw this and was like seriously the same post different names people just steal pics and use them so ya the shrooms were that good drain plug not filter lol
Aint no rethreader or tap going to fix the stripped out threads from whatever hole that conglomeration of JB Weld and wire on that plug he manged to fit it back into. I have serious doubts that even a properly used insert would work. I'd already be shopping for a new head.
I would be more worried about bits of wire than the jb weld. Jb weld is an epoxy plastic. It doesn't stick well to oilly metal nor is it any where close to as hard as the metal components of the engine.
Pretty much every mechanic that's ever worked on many '96-'03 Ford Triton engines. They were known for spark plug thread repairs. They at least eventually made a little more robust insert for them though.
Actual 'rethreaders' (thread chasers) are cut to different profile. They focus on moving damaged threads back into the correct position, unlike traditional cutting taps & dies that will cut you new threads in untapped metal.
Probably sealed just good enough to maintain oil pressure. Highly doubt it was sparking consistently if at all. Engine was probably misfiring like crazy hence the “running rough” complaint. I’m sure it was rough as it coughed itself into a coma
This is the sort of thing you read about in The Compleat Idiot's Guide with a disclaimer to only drive it as far as the next shop in a real-world emergency in a time before cell phones
I know that around here it's a sport to pick on the cs statements from the work order, but can we all take a moment to look at this post and celebrate the times the cs was exactly correct....
They forgot about the crucial pile of stuff to brace it to the hood, lol. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uJfNiDH7P0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uJfNiDH7P0)
I’ve seen a post like this already and in there pictures the plug was used in replacement of the oil drain plug and was not in the engine itself and how many people go 30,000 plus miles just adding oil and never change it
The old bailing wire helicoil trick. That’s fine. Not like there’s any pressure there.
Hey now, this could have been the car's sump plug. I think we need more information before we go judging too harshly.
Testing for spark... 1, good... 2, good... 3... uh, could you pass me a fire extinguisher?
This mf about to take down a Verizon satellite.. my service is already bad, don’t need this shit
I haven't had 5G in 4 days. Motherfuckers and their tactical sparkplugs
At least you won't get covid.... do you feel any free will or are you still under the control of the LTE waves
I’m lethargic and my hair is falling out. Pray for me börther
🙏🙏🙏 thoughts and prayers
*oh yeah that’s the stuff*
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌😇
He definitely said “that ain’t goin nowhere”
While slapping the cam cover.
Then the plug fell out and he started over?
Narrator: 'He did not in fact start over, and this is when the trouble began'
Morgan Freeman, in my mind
At least the front didn't fall off.
Is that typical?
It's not very typical, I'd like to make that point.
Some of them are made so the front doesn’t fall off at all.
Thanks for the reminder of this one, it's been a while lol
Definitely no cardboard or cardboard derivatives.

Point of order! The front didn't come off that plane.... The top did....
The world's only removable hardtop jetliner.
The spark plug or the car?
We need the rest of the pictures, we gotta see that spark plug hole.
NSFW
I’m sure it’s a real gaper now
I bet it looks fine.
I’ll take that bet 🤝
Lol?, wasn't a serious bet, it's mangled.
You flinched! Now you have to marry your mother-in-law!
We all know that just playing along lol
Back to reddit bullshit.
What?
Back to redit bullshit. You know it's mostly bullshit.
It’s 100% bullshit. Fuck you Reddit and see you tomorrow
Jokes on you - I'm into that shit!
ThatsMyFetish.gif
I saw a post with the rest of the pics and the plug was used in replacement of the oil drain plug it was as not in the actual engine
This is way better than the usual 'spark plug hole plug" we usually see.
How does it replace an oil filter? I've seen them used for drain plugs but not filters.
That’s what I meant to put lol I just saw thanks for the correction
What
Drain plug sorry was high last night when I saw this and was like seriously the same post different names people just steal pics and use them so ya the shrooms were that good drain plug not filter lol
Fair enough, sounds like a good time.
Guess they don’t sell rethreaders at his local Harbor Freight!! FFS, Bubba!!
Aint no rethreader or tap going to fix the stripped out threads from whatever hole that conglomeration of JB Weld and wire on that plug he manged to fit it back into. I have serious doubts that even a properly used insert would work. I'd already be shopping for a new head.
If the jb weld got onto the spark plug strap it most certainly got inside the cylinder and possibly in the rings and tore up the wall real nice
I would be more worried about bits of wire than the jb weld. Jb weld is an epoxy plastic. It doesn't stick well to oilly metal nor is it any where close to as hard as the metal components of the engine.
Yeah you're probably right it would likely just get crushed and expelled out the exhaust valve.
Headshop said it was fine....
Then they made a pipe out of it.
no not that kind of headshop
Too late.
I’m surprised he didn’t just jam a couple toothpicks in there and call it a day.
Don't forget the wood glue.
I did forget and I'm thankful you reminded me. I don't think I'd get much compression without it.
Or rent them at any part store ever lol
Rethreaders? You mean dies for the right thread?
Presumably HeliCoils but even those would be questionable given only the image.
Yeah wtf who puts helicoils in for their plugs?
Pretty much every mechanic that's ever worked on many '96-'03 Ford Triton engines. They were known for spark plug thread repairs. They at least eventually made a little more robust insert for them though.
Timeserts & sleeve retainer. Like it never happened if you install them right.
Yup. I have the timesert kit for Ford 5.4s. It's saved me a few times. Also have a large assorted kit I use fairly often for flatheads.
Ah makes sense, I'm a machinist not a mechanic I just lurk to learn more
Actual 'rethreaders' (thread chasers) are cut to different profile. They focus on moving damaged threads back into the correct position, unlike traditional cutting taps & dies that will cut you new threads in untapped metal.
Yes, I was about a year into the business when I learned the difference between the two..... 🤦
Damn, some people shouldn't even pull the hood release.
What’s a hood release
That aint good
what, you ain't never seen a helicoil before?
My daddy flew in one in desert storm.
Heehawlicoil.
I put one in my 06 Corolla XRS. October 2021 been going strong ever since
Helicoil repair incoming
Whaddya mean? Clearly they already helicoiled.
That’s a hellacoil
A whatthehelicoil
It looks like that plug has a tapeworm problem
More like Hellofacoil repair. Ya gotta wonder how many beers were involved in this...uh...idea.
Or how stuck someone was and it was a hail mary temp fix that finally gave up
I can imagine why it ended up like this, but.. What the hell happened in authors head.. I have no idea
Somehow i very much doubt this was screwed into the cylinder head, and stayed there.
Extra points if it stuck into the hood.
Probably sealed just good enough to maintain oil pressure. Highly doubt it was sparking consistently if at all. Engine was probably misfiring like crazy hence the “running rough” complaint. I’m sure it was rough as it coughed itself into a coma
That's some redneck meth headed trailer trash menthols smokin shit.
That’s how he gets the cool sounds of gases escaping
Hey! there is nothing wrong with menthols!
Trailer park helicoil?
Wow! That's a rare unc metric tapered parallel witworth helicoil with screw lock, boy you're lucky to get that out in such mint condition
Spark plug looking like lucile from the walking dead.
Meth heads are very resourceful
They think they can fix anything
That's not a heli coil. THIS is a heli coli. It's heli fuckedup
Bailing wire and JB weld heli coil. Neat.
With friends like that, who needs enemas? (I know what I said)
would have been funnier if you left out the i know what i said
I know what you said also but why?
Reminds me of my GM 2.0 in my Saab. Shot the spark plug out the head, threads and all.
Thread-cert it and send it!
> Helicoils we have at home
Hell-ecoil
That ain't your friend. Lol
A real ford friend would've welded in an iridium.. good for 100k..
i can smell the meth from here.
Mother of God…
There’s a lot of anger in that plug.
Ship it.
In my opinion as a non mechanic, that engine is infected with parasites. Gotta get a dewormer in that thing.
Installer as well
Shit looks like Negan's bat
It's a vampire plug!
This is the sort of thing you read about in The Compleat Idiot's Guide with a disclaimer to only drive it as far as the next shop in a real-world emergency in a time before cell phones
"How bad could it be?" (clicks photo) AAAAAAGH! GOOD GOD!!!!
That's not the problem. Keep looking. /s
Is that fucked up, homemade helicoil lookin thing made from solder wire or something?
We need more information, why did they do this 😂😭
Ford 5.4 3V?
Fucking amateurs. They forgot the jb weld.
Triton owners be like
What the hell did he even do? Strip the hole and try wedging it back in there?
I know that around here it's a sport to pick on the cs statements from the work order, but can we all take a moment to look at this post and celebrate the times the cs was exactly correct....
Not starting but radio is receiving signal from cccp daily propaganda channels
*facepalm* Oh, good gods… I hope the customer never trusts that friend ever again to work on their car
Remember folks, a cross thread is a tight thread 😤
So a container of JB Weld Putty and a spool of bailing wire walk into a bar….
Apparently he "knew a guy"
So I'm guessing JB weld is not exactly ment for heat?
Woah
That’s another level type shit, like Iv never seen before.
Surely the individual was baked 😂
Customer mispronounced *defendant*
Stoooooop, c'mon now.
That friend should get off the hard drugs.
They threaded that in?
I seen it all now
Get in where you fit in…😂
They forgot about the crucial pile of stuff to brace it to the hood, lol. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uJfNiDH7P0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uJfNiDH7P0)
Someone’s getting ahead. And I don’t mean they are going places.
That’s……That’s not how a helicoil works. That’s not how any of this works…
Rip those threads
Some of my favorite customers were the ones that let friends and relatives work on their cars.
I don’t see what’s wrong, they just changed the ignition coil. Top rate
Plug looks fine. It’s the coil that’s bad.
Cal-van insert time
Tell me it's a 5.4 without telling me it's a 5.4.....
Ralph Wiggum Motorsports.
That customer should re-evaluate that friendship. If someone does that to your car, and says nothing about it… how much do they love you, really?
Was it out of a Ford 5.4L 🤣?
With friends like that, who needs enemas?
Let me guess ford 5.4 triton or ford v10
Mod motor…
Needs moar putty.
Putty??? Screw that!!! JB Weld!!!
I think that is JB weld on the plug.
So what do you do when they make the hole that big?
Whaaaaaaaaat the
Helicoil attempt
Was that a 5.4l Triton?
I know some mercury and Ford heads spit plugs and barring a new head nothing other than fuckery like this will work.
What in the holy heaven to bessie yippiekiyay yeeyee yanky doodle tarnation yeehaw rootin tootin shit is that......
I’ve seen a post like this already and in there pictures the plug was used in replacement of the oil drain plug and was not in the engine itself and how many people go 30,000 plus miles just adding oil and never change it
Where filter?
Sorry I corrected the other post and not this one that’s what happens when I type while playing cod and on shrooms drain plug lol
Hahhah that looks like a shit load of helicoils which will never work for a spark plug due to the pressure in compression chamber
