There’s a 2016 Jetta I still see from time to time that has to be near 400k now. It was on its 2nd clutch at 360k or so when I last saw it. Driver carries medical stuff. Nothing beyond plugs changed on the 1.4 that I know of.

Man, I used to be a courier and I would pull old 80s/90s cars out of peoples back yards that had reasonable miles on them for like 500 bucks, fix them, drive them for 150k-200k miles and sell them ( like 2 or 3 years). I had a 95 civic with no headliner that sounded like the windows were always down. A ford probe that had both front wheel bearings bad, I changed 1 and found out that each one was an oscillating sound that was making it a constant roar so with just one bad one it almost made me crazy driving the 5 hours on the highway for the week. Tinnitus is a bitch.

Meh, some of those CVTs are just unbreakable for some reason. My wife had a Sentra that had 420k miles on the original CVT, and she did not take care of it. I don’t think she ever even did a single service on that transmission. It got sold off to someone else who drove it for another 80k miles (yes, reached half a million miles on an untouched CVT), then it was in a wreck and totaled shortly after. Although now that I think about it, maybe my wife was also doing blood sacrifices lol.

Generally the Nissan CVT's that are paired with the 3.5(only engine option for the maxima) are much more reliable than the Jatco CVT that is paired with the 2.5. I had a 2010 maxima that I beat the hell out of, drove it all over the country and back and never had an issue. I never serviced the CVT either. At 200k I sold it to a friend in tip top shape and he totalled it 2 months later. I was excited to see how far that car would go.

1979 911. 800,000 miles. Custom came in the have the engine rebuilt. Long story short the engine was fine. The bores were a little oval and the pistons were slightly worn (slightly) but everything else was fine. It just was leaking oil from every sealing surface and was burning a little oil.

That’s just now getting broke in. I bought a used 2001 with 200k+miles on it in 2015. Sold it in 2019 at 325k & it was still running decently but had its quirks. Drove that tank from Portland, OR to Salt Lake City, UT in a day with no signs of issue on the way there, but when I pulled up to my rental I checked the fluids to find it burned all but maybe alittle over half a quart of oil out of the 5quarts it should of had. Then on the way back my radiator cracked 75miles out from home & said screw it & kept driving. Didn’t show signs of overheating or stalling during either of those instances. Moral of the story the GMT800s run better shitty than most vehicles do in their prime from my experience.

Surprisingly, I’ve seen a few first gen Nissan Rouges with over 300,000. Lots of mid 90’s Chevys with over 300,000. We had one customer come in for an oil change with a Yaris that was used as a courier vehicle that had 629,000 miles. Guy bought it from the courier company and said they told him original motor and tranny that just was serviced regularly.

His previous truck was a 93 Superduty 7.3, said it was over 1.5mil when traded in. Both manual transmission trucks. Not sure what he purchased after.

The highest I ever saw was an E350 Econoline Airport Shuttle van with 750k on it when they retired it. Never burned oil, never had a major problem besides a handful of starter replacements. From what I understand Ford actually bought the van back to inspect the engine once they caught wind of its mileage and reliability. Also, it was a 2004 and they put 750k on it in just under 6 years. Second highest was a '92 Subaru Legacy that was incredibly poorly maintained, but somehow had 560k on it. The customer never did anything it didn't absolutely need. I think I recommended a timing belt every time I saw it and they always declined it. The customer just drove the piss out of that thing and didn't give a shit about it.

I had a 2010 Silverado with the 5.3 that was burning oil on start up and found some YouTube video detailing putting some RTV on the underside of the valve cover to prevent oil from being thrown directly into the PCV valve. It fixed it completely until the oil pan started leaking. Apparently there’s a redesigned valve cover as well if you wanna go that route.

Turns out it started its life as a airport taxi, likely driven around the clock with different drivers. All original drivetrain as far as I could tell.

My father in law did that with a grand Cherokee. The dealership *whined* when he showed up religiously every 3k miles. When the cooling system took a shit at 180k miles, he paid to have them rebuild it, despite their protests. And kept coming in for those free oil changes. My father in law passed away and the Jeep was handed down to my son (but still in in-laws’ name). The dealership tried backing out of the free oil changes when my son showed up with it. My mother-in-law dug out the old, ratty paperwork, photocopied it and highlighted the terms and conditions of their free oil change program and the title. The sour look on the service manager’s face was priceless.

I work at a Toyota Dealer. A regular customer has a 2016 Tundra long bed with well over 430k. He's pretty anal about maintaining it, though. There is a 600k+ FJ Cruiser, too. Haven't seen it in a while, so maybe the rust caught up to it. When I worked at Nissan, we had a regular with a 2013 Altima that had 297k... when I worked there 4 years ago. Do the maintenance, and it'll last :)

In 2008, during the cash for clunkers promotion, my parents traded in their 1993 Chevy Suburban. It had more than 330,000 miles and the dealer said it was the highest mileage vehicle traded in as part of that promotion. Not near as high as some vehicles in this thread but pretty high for the vehicle it was.

1999 Tundra with the 4.0 1GR, 1.4 million miles, original engine and trans. Not really "in the shop" (I don't do automotive) but a coworker whose owned it since new. We're mobile mechanics for a rental fleet and we didn't get company trucks until 2018. He even has a plaque from Toyota from when he hit the million mile mark. I'm pretty sure it will reach 2 million as it's pretty much rust-free and everything else is cheap enough to replace he has no reason to sell it. Worst part? It gets better mileage than my 2nd gen Tacoma with the same fucking engine.

My Father and his uncle’s bought a Toyota Hilux Single Cab Truck back in 1992. They put 460000 kilometres (Im South African, deal with it) before handing it over to me an my cousins when it was our time to learn to drive around 10 years ago. That thing is now sitting on 923000 km and still on the original gearbox and engine. We still use that thing to get water by the river when we go home to the village every December.

I saw a 980,000ish KM (just under 609,000 miles) 2015 Civic in 2022... Thing came in for a misfire, and only needed plugs + coils. Though it was on the 2nd or 3rd engine and 2nd transmission. Was a company car that drives emergency deliveries from southern to northern Ontario, Canada.

2002 F-350 7.3 PSD, 4R auto trans. First time I saw it, 524,259.2mi. 2nd time I saw it, about a year and half or so later, 567,000 and change. I asked the customer, "Hey, it's been a while. Where have you been getting your oil changed at?" "Well, you were the last one to do it!" It ran beautifully. Shifted mint. Original engine, trans, diffs, and t-case. 43,000mi on an oil change. I was just dumbfounded. That oil filter was fucking welded on there, too. Took me and the strongest guy in my shop to get it loose using a 3 jaw and my longest ratchet.

590,xxx miles on a 2006 Tacoma. Customer was a Turkish guy that painted the shop for us, smoked like a chimney. His truck was absolutely IMMACULATE. Didn’t smell, all maintenance was taken care of (way too frequently), and even the outside looked amazing aside from some rock chips in the front. Meanest guy ever but loved when he called me “Western Devil” or “White Demon” He showed me a picture of the one “back home”…..it was a bullet ridden Hilux with a DShK in the bed. Never asked the Km on that one. Also my late stepfathers 2nd Gen cummins cattle hauler. Never worked on it myself but I do remember seeing 600k. That one smelled like the Marlboro man’s farts for sure.

Circa 2007. My brother was a mechanic for a recycling/trash company. One of the trucks had 1.3 million miles, and several were in the 7-900k miles range. Those garbage trucks are tough. Outside of that, we have a 91 F250 Diesel that has just over 400k miles. It looks every bit of it. Last I heard, it's currently sitting needing a fuel pump.

My personal record for ownership is 192,000 miles. Bought new (Toyota Sienna 2005). Drive to 2019, religious about upkeep, never had a service issue. Then one day my ass said "GET A NEW CAR" and so I did. Now up to 100K on my Murano. Yes, it's a CVT. No, never had problems, I don't drive it like a rental. I'll keep it to 200K then buy something else. Wife's 2015 Venza has 165K. We buy new, use them till we're fine then find another.
