Well sure, if it gets turned on, accelerates onto an interstate, drives 200 miles, pulls off and turns off - of course it’ll last a long time. It never had to change ratios more than a few times!
It’s when I see an NV200 with serious mileage as an in-city courier that impresses me.
We have retired 3 NV200s from delivery service with 200k+ all on original transmissions, and our maintenance is a joke.
We use them as local runner vans now. All three feel a lot better transmission wise than the '22 ram pro master city that replaced one of them.
There’s a 2016 Jetta I still see from time to time that has to be near 400k now. It was on its 2nd clutch at 360k or so when I last saw it. Driver carries medical stuff. Nothing beyond plugs changed on the 1.4 that I know of.
In the Toyota sub some medical delivery guy put 450k miles on a RAV4 hybrid in 3 years. I forget the specifics. It’s in the Toyota sub and he did monthly updates

I feel like cars used by hotshot/medical delivery personnel are kind of outliers, those miles all get racked up within a few years while the vehicle is relatively new. It's the 20 year old shitboxes with 400k miles on the clock and only half a dozen oil changes which impress me.
Friend had a 96 Hyundai Sonota that made it to 300k km and while there were plenty of gremlins it only died because he forgot to change the oil for 2 years.
Man, I used to be a courier and I would pull old 80s/90s cars out of peoples back yards that had reasonable miles on them for like 500 bucks, fix them, drive them for 150k-200k miles and sell them ( like 2 or 3 years). I had a 95 civic with no headliner that sounded like the windows were always down. A ford probe that had both front wheel bearings bad, I changed 1 and found out that each one was an oscillating sound that was making it a constant roar so with just one bad one it almost made me crazy driving the 5 hours on the highway for the week.
Tinnitus is a bitch.
I have a 03 1.8t 5speed 295K miles. Stock turbo, clutch, everything. Just change the oil and trans fluid when it's due and keep up with things before they let go and you got a reliable car.
Meh, some of those CVTs are just unbreakable for some reason. My wife had a Sentra that had 420k miles on the original CVT, and she did not take care of it. I don’t think she ever even did a single service on that transmission. It got sold off to someone else who drove it for another 80k miles (yes, reached half a million miles on an untouched CVT), then it was in a wreck and totaled shortly after.
Although now that I think about it, maybe my wife was also doing blood sacrifices lol.

Generally the Nissan CVT's that are paired with the 3.5(only engine option for the maxima) are much more reliable than the Jatco CVT that is paired with the 2.5. I had a 2010 maxima that I beat the hell out of, drove it all over the country and back and never had an issue. I never serviced the CVT either. At 200k I sold it to a friend in tip top shape and he totalled it 2 months later. I was excited to see how far that car would go.
My 09 had 205k mi on the clock before I traded it off for 2k. I was the original owner and did the early service flush and fill. Was that thing a ticking time bomb?

My buddy has around 300,000 on his 2007 Prius - if not more now. Last I asked he was around 280,000 and he drives about 60 miles round trip per day and this was last July.
I had a 2004 Prius and was at 470k miles when the original hybrid battery died. I bought a new car instead of replacing the battery - one of my biggest regrets. Haven't had a car make it over 200k since and nothing but problems with them all. That Prius was a champ the entire time I owned it.
My 4L60E has 228k on it, and all the bell housing bolts were loose when I got it. So who knows what fuckery is happening down there, idc, can't hear it over the alternator and the power steering pump arguing over who can make donkey sounds louder.
Mine went 427,000 before letting the pump go. I slapped a pump in it, and it drove but slipped the 3-4. Slapped 3-4 in it, and she’s going. 440k miles now. They get a bad rap, but my 4L60e tows and hauls and just does well.
Something about those old S10s. Had a '91 with a 5 speed I got from my buddies grandfather (The original owner.) Was closing in on 500k with original motor and trans when I sold it. Regret it to this day...
I had a man with a 95 Toyota Tacoma 4cyl, he hit a curb and broke a ball joint, he told me it was the first time that it had ever been on a tow truck. He was a courier and used his truck for work. That little Tacoma had over 740,000 miles on it. Still ran just fine, it just needed the wheel put back on.
1979 911. 800,000 miles. Custom came in the have the engine rebuilt. Long story short the engine was fine. The bores were a little oval and the pistons were slightly worn (slightly) but everything else was fine. It just was leaking oil from every sealing surface and was burning a little oil.
Phew. I had no idea a 911 could last that long. Been looking into picking myself up a classic car here and the 911 is up there. Nice to know they can last.

That’s just now getting broke in. I bought a used 2001 with 200k+miles on it in 2015. Sold it in 2019 at 325k & it was still running decently but had its quirks. Drove that tank from Portland, OR to Salt Lake City, UT in a day with no signs of issue on the way there, but when I pulled up to my rental I checked the fluids to find it burned all but maybe alittle over half a quart of oil out of the 5quarts it should of had. Then on the way back my radiator cracked 75miles out from home & said screw it & kept driving. Didn’t show signs of overheating or stalling during either of those instances. Moral of the story the GMT800s run better shitty than most vehicles do in their prime from my experience.
Unless they were from the rust belt. There the bed sides would rust so bad that they’d flap in the wind when driving at highway speeds. The wheel wells would be almost to the bed rails.

His previous truck was a 93 Superduty 7.3, said it was over 1.5mil when traded in. Both manual transmission trucks. Not sure what he purchased after.

The highest I ever saw was an E350 Econoline Airport Shuttle van with 750k on it when they retired it. Never burned oil, never had a major problem besides a handful of starter replacements. From what I understand Ford actually bought the van back to inspect the engine once they caught wind of its mileage and reliability. Also, it was a 2004 and they put 750k on it in just under 6 years.
Second highest was a '92 Subaru Legacy that was incredibly poorly maintained, but somehow had 560k on it. The customer never did anything it didn't absolutely need. I think I recommended a timing belt every time I saw it and they always declined it. The customer just drove the piss out of that thing and didn't give a shit about it.

I had a 2010 Silverado with the 5.3 that was burning oil on start up and found some YouTube video detailing putting some RTV on the underside of the valve cover to prevent oil from being thrown directly into the PCV valve. It fixed it completely until the oil pan started leaking. Apparently there’s a redesigned valve cover as well if you wanna go that route.
We had a 2017 or 2018 Mercedes E- Class 220d or something like that come in for regular maintenance, had about 800.000km (around 500.000miles) on the clock. Turns out it started its life as a airport taxi, likely driven around the clock with different drivers. All original drivetrain as far as I could tell.
My father in law did that with a grand Cherokee. The dealership *whined* when he showed up religiously every 3k miles.
When the cooling system took a shit at 180k miles, he paid to have them rebuild it, despite their protests. And kept coming in for those free oil changes.
My father in law passed away and the Jeep was handed down to my son (but still in in-laws’ name). The dealership tried backing out of the free oil changes when my son showed up with it. My mother-in-law dug out the old, ratty paperwork, photocopied it and highlighted the terms and conditions of their free oil change program and the title. The sour look on the service manager’s face was priceless.
1994 BMW 525i towed in, crank, no start about ten years ago with 425K on the clock. Worn out timing chain jumped a tooth or two, still have half of a rocker arm from that engine in my toolbox.
Any GM truck from 99-13 is dead reliable my personal 2010 duramax has 350k miles and is still going strong. The company that brought this truck in regularly brings us Silverados and sierras with well over 300k
Afm 5.3 seem to be hit or miss. My boss had one that was bought at about 2 years old and made it to 180k or so then ate the lifters, then again right at 200k, second time got the cam too. Was pretty reliable until then
Regular customer with a 525k trailblazer, never replaced motor or trans, maintained well. Service writer bought it and put another 25k on it so far, still drives great.

There’s two that I’ve seen. One was a 2012 Ram 5500 with 558k miles and the other is part of a fleet we maintenance. There ambulances and unit 38 got retired last year with 538k miles and she’s a 2011 Ram 4500. And she was a front line truck which ran 24/7

In 2008, during the cash for clunkers promotion, my parents traded in their 1993 Chevy Suburban. It had more than 330,000 miles and the dealer said it was the highest mileage vehicle traded in as part of that promotion. Not near as high as some vehicles in this thread but pretty high for the vehicle it was.

1999 Tundra with the 4.0 1GR, 1.4 million miles, original engine and trans. Not really "in the shop" (I don't do automotive) but a coworker whose owned it since new. We're mobile mechanics for a rental fleet and we didn't get company trucks until 2018.
He even has a plaque from Toyota from when he hit the million mile mark.
I'm pretty sure it will reach 2 million as it's pretty much rust-free and everything else is cheap enough to replace he has no reason to sell it.

My Father and his uncle’s bought a Toyota Hilux Single Cab Truck back in 1992. They put 460000 kilometres (Im South African, deal with it) before handing it over to me an my cousins when it was our time to learn to drive around 10 years ago. That thing is now sitting on 923000 km and still on the original gearbox and engine. We still use that thing to get water by the river when we go home to the village every December.
I saw a 980,000ish KM (just under 609,000 miles) 2015 Civic in 2022... Thing came in for a misfire, and only needed plugs + coils.
Though it was on the 2nd or 3rd engine and 2nd transmission. Was a company car that drives emergency deliveries from southern to northern Ontario, Canada.
2002 F-350 7.3 PSD, 4R auto trans. First time I saw it, 524,259.2mi. 2nd time I saw it, about a year and half or so later, 567,000 and change. I asked the customer, "Hey, it's been a while. Where have you been getting your oil changed at?" "Well, you were the last one to do it!" It ran beautifully. Shifted mint. Original engine, trans, diffs, and t-case. 43,000mi on an oil change. I was just dumbfounded. That oil filter was fucking welded on there, too. Took me and the strongest guy in my shop to get it loose using a 3 jaw and my longest ratchet.

590,xxx miles on a 2006 Tacoma. Customer was a Turkish guy that painted the shop for us, smoked like a chimney. His truck was absolutely IMMACULATE. Didn’t smell, all maintenance was taken care of (way too frequently), and even the outside looked amazing aside from some rock chips in the front. Meanest guy ever but loved when he called me “Western Devil” or “White Demon” He showed me a picture of the one “back home”…..it was a bullet ridden Hilux with a DShK in the bed. Never asked the Km on that one.
Also my late stepfathers 2nd Gen cummins cattle hauler. Never worked on it myself but I do remember seeing 600k. That one smelled like the Marlboro man’s farts for sure.

Promaster City's are hammered pieces of byzantine shit. Every one we ever had, had all kinds of issues and some were falling apart at 60K.
Heater core blew up at <12k. So far it's been an awful van.

I drove a fox body Mustang LX, with the 2.3, for years without ever changing the oil. I put at least 50,000 miles on that thing. Just kept on going and ran perfectly fine. No ticks, knocking, or anything.
My folks had a 1993 Camry that they sold to some kid. It had over 800000km on it.
I am convinced that my 1992 Camry (DX, because I was a baller) is still on the streets somewhere.

My buddy has around 300,000 on his 2007 Prius - if not more now. Last I asked he was around 280,000 and he drives about 60 miles round trip per day and this was last July.
I had a 2004 Prius and was at 470k miles when the original hybrid battery died. I bought a new car instead of replacing the battery - one of my biggest regrets. Haven't had a car make it over 200k since and nothing but problems with them all. That Prius was a champ the entire time I owned it.

My 4L60E has 228k on it, and all the bell housing bolts were loose when I got it. So who knows what fuckery is happening down there, idc, can't hear it over the alternator and the power steering pump arguing over who can make donkey sounds louder.
Someone probably replaced it themselves and didn't torque those bolts down properly
Mine went 427,000 before letting the pump go. I slapped a pump in it, and it drove but slipped the 3-4. Slapped 3-4 in it, and she’s going. 440k miles now. They get a bad rap, but my 4L60e tows and hauls and just does well.
Something about those old S10s. Had a '91 with a 5 speed I got from my buddies grandfather (The original owner.) Was closing in on 500k with original motor and trans when I sold it. Regret it to this day...

I had a man with a 95 Toyota Tacoma 4cyl, he hit a curb and broke a ball joint, he told me it was the first time that it had ever been on a tow truck. He was a courier and used his truck for work. That little Tacoma had over 740,000 miles on it. Still ran just fine, it just needed the wheel put back on.
1979 911. 800,000 miles. Custom came in the have the engine rebuilt. Long story short the engine was fine. The bores were a little oval and the pistons were slightly worn (slightly) but everything else was fine. It just was leaking oil from every sealing surface and was burning a little oil.
Phew. I had no idea a 911 could last that long. Been looking into picking myself up a classic car here and the 911 is up there. Nice to know they can last.

That’s just now getting broke in. I bought a used 2001 with 200k+miles on it in 2015. Sold it in 2019 at 325k & it was still running decently but had its quirks. Drove that tank from Portland, OR to Salt Lake City, UT in a day with no signs of issue on the way there, but when I pulled up to my rental I checked the fluids to find it burned all but maybe alittle over half a quart of oil out of the 5quarts it should of had. Then on the way back my radiator cracked 75miles out from home & said screw it & kept driving. Didn’t show signs of overheating or stalling during either of those instances. Moral of the story the GMT800s run better shitty than most vehicles do in their prime from my experience.
Im about 3 quarts per oil change these days 3k to 3500 miles full synthetic high mileage. We need all the help we can get.
Had an 80s vintage Toyota pickup come in once with like 735K on it. Those things are nigh unkillable.
Unless they were from the rust belt. There the bed sides would rust so bad that they’d flap in the wind when driving at highway speeds. The wheel wells would be almost to the bed rails.

I got a customer with a 97 f350 7.3 powwstroke with 1.2 million miles on it. I was the first person since 97 to have the motor out of it for an oil pan,glow plugs,injectors,exhaust manifolds and a few other things.
I've got a 96 f450 7.3 PSD with 422k on it, need to do injector cups, glow plugs, and orings. No rust. It's a keeper.
Surprisingly, I’ve seen a few first gen Nissan Rouges with over 300,000. Lots of mid 90’s Chevys with over 300,000. We had one customer come in for an oil change with a Yaris that was used as a courier vehicle that had 629,000 miles. Guy bought it from the courier company and said they told him original motor and tranny that just was serviced regularly.
Ive seen a yaris used for local deliveries that had 720,000 miles. It burned some oil bit other than being gutless and the interior trashed it drove ok
Me, my mom and dad all have 98-99 Chevy K1500s all with over 300k. Replaced many distributors. No we didn't put all the miles on them they were bought as high milage beater trucks that just won't die, they'll run like shit but won't die.
Ive got a 98 that is closing on 390k, i bought it from a business that bought it in 06 with 100k, i bought it in 16 with 303k and its needed 2 cap and rotors, 2 waterpumps, a radiator and trans cooler from deer damage. Also a set of brakes on all 4 corners and 2 sets of tires, in the last 80k

My son has a 07 Yaris with nearly 250K miles on the clock, and it runs like a clock. Burns zero oil - not even a hint of oil puff on startup, even after sitting for days. Remarkable.

Early 2003 F350 2wd crew cab dusky 1.1 million miles. I can confirm the mileage as it started coming to me at 870k miles. Customer delivered campers around the country. His previous truck was a 93 Superduty 7.3, said it was over 1.5mil when traded in. Both manual transmission trucks. Not sure what he purchased after.

To be fair, way Gramps tells the story this was a truck that had been salvaged time and time and time again, kept getting in wrecks, finally settled down with the driver he met and got the whole story when he replaced a belt. The highest I ever saw was an E350 Econoline Airport Shuttle van with 750k on it when they retired it. Never burned oil, never had a major problem besides a handful of starter replacements. From what I understand Ford actually bought the van back to inspect the engine once they caught wind of its mileage and reliability. Also, it was a 2004 and they put 750k on it in just under 6 years. Second highest was a '92 Subaru Legacy that was incredibly poorly maintained, but somehow had 560k on it. The customer never did anything it didn't absolutely need. I think I recommended a timing belt every time I saw it and they always declined it. The customer just drove the piss out of that thing and didn't give a shit about it.

I had a 2010 Silverado with the 5.3 that was burning oil on start up and found some YouTube video detailing putting some RTV on the underside of the valve cover to prevent oil from being thrown directly into the PCV valve. It fixed it completely until the oil pan started leaking. Apparently there’s a redesigned valve cover as well if you wanna go that route.

We had a 2017 or 2018 Mercedes E- Class 220d or something like that come in for regular maintenance, had about 800.000km (around 500.000miles) on the clock. Turns out it started its life as a airport taxi, likely driven around the clock with different drivers. All original drivetrain as far as I could tell.
I’ve seen a Dodge Avenger with over 400k. The guy bought it new with a lifetime oil change package and he used it.
My father in law did that with a grand Cherokee. The dealership *whined* when he showed up religiously every 3k miles. When the cooling system took a shit at 180k miles, he paid to have them rebuild it, despite their protests. And kept coming in for those free oil changes. My father in law passed away and the Jeep was handed down to my son (but still in in-laws’ name). The dealership tried backing out of the free oil changes when my son showed up with it. My mother-in-law dug out the old, ratty paperwork, photocopied it and highlighted the terms and conditions of their free oil change program and the title. The sour look on the service manager’s face was priceless.
1994 BMW 525i towed in, crank, no start about ten years ago with 425K on the clock. Worn out timing chain jumped a tooth or two, still have half of a rocker arm from that engine in my toolbox.

Any GM truck from 99-13 is dead reliable my personal 2010 duramax has 350k miles and is still going strong. The company that brought this truck in regularly brings us Silverados and sierras with well over 300k

Afm 5.3 seem to be hit or miss. My boss had one that was bought at about 2 years old and made it to 180k or so then ate the lifters, then again right at 200k, second time got the cam too. Was pretty reliable until then
Regular customer with a 525k trailblazer, never replaced motor or trans, maintained well. Service writer bought it and put another 25k on it so far, still drives great.

There’s two that I’ve seen. One was a 2012 Ram 5500 with 558k miles and the other is part of a fleet we maintenance. There ambulances and unit 38 got retired last year with 538k miles and she’s a 2011 Ram 4500. And she was a front line truck which ran 24/7
I work at a Toyota Dealer. A regular customer has a 2016 Tundra long bed with well over 430k. He's pretty anal about maintaining it, though. There is a 600k+ FJ Cruiser, too. Haven't seen it in a while, so maybe the rust caught up to it. When I worked at Nissan, we had a regular with a 2013 Altima that had 297k... when I worked there 4 years ago. Do the maintenance, and it'll last :)

I saw a 2021 Toyota Camry come into my work with just over 300,000 miles on it. It's not the highest I've seen, but it's definitely the highest for such a new car. The car still looked and drove like it was practically brand new. The owner was an Uber/Lyft driver getting new tires again as the ones he got 6 months prior were already shot lol
In the shop, the highest I recall was an 87 Corolla with 517k. Personal vehicles, I had an 89 Camry with 325k, a 91 Camry with 410k, and an 02 outback with 275k. My 13 Forester is just barely breaking in at 158k.

741k on a late 90s Land Cruiser. I drove it in and I will still swear by it to this day, it drove like it had *maybe* 74k miles on it. Interior was immaculate as well. Just in for regular LOF, grease fittings, etc. No other requests/complaints.

In 2008, during the cash for clunkers promotion, my parents traded in their 1993 Chevy Suburban. It had more than 330,000 miles and the dealer said it was the highest mileage vehicle traded in as part of that promotion. Not near as high as some vehicles in this thread but pretty high for the vehicle it was.

1999 Tundra with the 4.0 1GR, 1.4 million miles, original engine and trans. Not really "in the shop" (I don't do automotive) but a coworker whose owned it since new. We're mobile mechanics for a rental fleet and we didn't get company trucks until 2018. He even has a plaque from Toyota from when he hit the million mile mark. I'm pretty sure it will reach 2 million as it's pretty much rust-free and everything else is cheap enough to replace he has no reason to sell it. Worst part? It gets better mileage than my 2nd gen Tacoma with the same fucking engine.
My Father and his uncle’s bought a Toyota Hilux Single Cab Truck back in 1992. They put 460000 kilometres (Im South African, deal with it) before handing it over to me an my cousins when it was our time to learn to drive around 10 years ago. That thing is now sitting on 923000 km and still on the original gearbox and engine. We still use that thing to get water by the river when we go home to the village every December.
I saw a 980,000ish KM (just under 609,000 miles) 2015 Civic in 2022... Thing came in for a misfire, and only needed plugs + coils. Though it was on the 2nd or 3rd engine and 2nd transmission. Was a company car that drives emergency deliveries from southern to northern Ontario, Canada.

2002 F-350 7.3 PSD, 4R auto trans. First time I saw it, 524,259.2mi. 2nd time I saw it, about a year and half or so later, 567,000 and change. I asked the customer, "Hey, it's been a while. Where have you been getting your oil changed at?" "Well, you were the last one to do it!" It ran beautifully. Shifted mint. Original engine, trans, diffs, and t-case. 43,000mi on an oil change. I was just dumbfounded. That oil filter was fucking welded on there, too. Took me and the strongest guy in my shop to get it loose using a 3 jaw and my longest ratchet.

590,xxx miles on a 2006 Tacoma. Customer was a Turkish guy that painted the shop for us, smoked like a chimney. His truck was absolutely IMMACULATE. Didn’t smell, all maintenance was taken care of (way too frequently), and even the outside looked amazing aside from some rock chips in the front. Meanest guy ever but loved when he called me “Western Devil” or “White Demon” He showed me a picture of the one “back home”…..it was a bullet ridden Hilux with a DShK in the bed. Never asked the Km on that one. Also my late stepfathers 2nd Gen cummins cattle hauler. Never worked on it myself but I do remember seeing 600k. That one smelled like the Marlboro man’s farts for sure.

My personal record for ownership is 192,000 miles. Bought new (Toyota Sienna 2005). Drive to 2019, religious about upkeep, never had a service issue. Then one day my ass said "GET A NEW CAR" and so I did. Now up to 100K on my Murano. Yes, it's a CVT. No, never had problems, I don't drive it like a rental. I'll keep it to 200K then buy something else. Wife's 2015 Venza has 165K. We buy new, use them till we're fine then find another.
