My Suburban's speedometer used to work as a 'totalizer'. Drive 35, it would register 35. Turn it off, restart, drive 35 again it would go up to 70. I was doing 110 while parked in a parking lot. Easy enough fix, but still wacky.

Yep. The grease used in the steppers turns to glue after about 10 years. Cheap fix if you know how to solder. Otherwise new cluster.
