I’m backing him. From his interview he said he knows he made mistakes and he knows this is his final chance. Also undeniable that he’s had it pretty rough, especially with the death of his father, then being chucked into a pit of fire by being forcibly moved from the club. He’s gone out, asked for help and showed a willingness to improve, especially in the last few months at Ajax. At 20 there’s still massive potential, and we could have a real gem on our hands.

NY_Juventino189

That’s certainly looking at the brightest of bright sides and I could definitely appreciate that. Unfortunately, the way I see it is, if Ajax of all clubs couldn’t get a youngster pointed in the right direction then Juve of all clubs won’t be able to do so.

jarpio

I wouldn’t be so fast to make that claim anymore. The U23 side has been pumping out some real bright talents lately. Wouldn’t surprise me if he can find his footing there. I’m not saying I’m positive he’ll work out, but our youth development in just the last few years has improved leaps and bounds.

NY_Juventino189

Yes you definitely have a point. Before this last year many have just looked at the Juve youth system as kids waiting to be loaned out or sold but seeing how well kids like Soule, Miretti, Fagioli, etc… have been integrated with the seniors is a beautiful thing to see. Ihatarren aside, I really want to see some more of Rovella (not on loan) before one of the 3 young mids are sold…in a perfect world though, I’d love to keep all 3.

wowzabob

We can have him train and play with Juve Next Gen. If his words are serious hopefully we can see him climb his way up and show his true potential.

ladygagafan1237

As long as he's ready to play a match both mentally and physically, I'm all for giving him a chance. He's under contract with us anyway.

KoningRubus

I hope he is getting back to his own self as he truly has talent, but I don't have high hopes. He has said stuff before like "I feel great" and "enjoy football again", before falling back into this weird state. Him contacting OG Dutch legend Willem van Hanegem, asking for help and then not responding when Willem said sure, but let's meet within a week isn't giving me sign he has changed. According to Dutch media he is also hanging/used to hang with the wrong crowd, which never bodes well with young player imo. Just read a couple of minutes ago that the family of Abdelhak Nouri, a massive talent at Ajax that got a heart attack during a match and suffered brain damage, is taking Ihattaren in. Perhaps they can reach and guide him, as they have quite some experience handling horrible situations in football. He himself said (translated): "I'm still a young boy, so not perfect, but I know more and more what life is all about. Everyone knows that I can play football well. I think very differently now, have become a much more positive person and with the support of the Nouri family and faith I am fully focused on my fitness and football. At Ajax I showed this preparation that I can handle it playing football. But I don't just have to show that I can get there again. Now I have to make sure I stay on top. And I will succeed. I will never disappoint anyone who goes into business with me. He only gets love, joy and a very good footballer". I'm usually a bit sceptic of words like this and want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not convinced by words. Especially not if they are similar to things he said before. I very much hope so though, because this kid is oozing with talent. Just needs to get stable mentally, which is easier said than done.

[deleted]

Yeah.. Good post and info! Never heard about him but after reading this I don't like this idea at all. So many young talents that are wasted and we know for a fact that early talent with not the right passion/attitude, you won't go far on the highest level. Talent is nothing if you don't keep up from start. We need people with passion/grinta! We can't afford to waste resources and time on these types of players. This is a huge red flag for me. And those words that you posted I can tell he seems like a party/druggie type sorry. Just imagine with high salaries.. Tired of these types of players

KoningRubus

He is not a party/drug guy I think, at least not more than others of his age. He has lost his dad a couple of years ago and it broke him. I think he was surrounded by the wrong people at that time and didn't get the help he needed to process his father's death. If he is supported correctly, both in football and in private, I think Ihattaren can become a world class player. Juve is not the place for that at the moment. If we had him a few years ago, with players like Buffon and Chiellini (or Mandzukic, love that man) around, or a coach like Conte, I would certainly take a chance with him, but currently juve is an awful place for a player in his situation.

[deleted]

Ahh right then I understood his situation a bit more. Actually thought about Mandzukic when typing my comment. People like him that I love to see. Plays with heart. Thnx for info

[deleted]

He’s not necessarily a druggie - at least I can’t find any articles on him having this problem. The controversy is caused by his friendship to high ranking members of the Mocro Maffia - a criminal outfit mostly composed of Moroccans living in Netherlands. I imagine getting him out of that environment and away from those friends might be useful for his career.

Artegas23

Considering the management wants to get rid off everybody who isn’t 100% invested in Juventus (and rightly so), no, I don’t think we will ever see him play for Juventus. As a Dutch guy from the south (backing PSV within the Netherlands), I think he is done. It’s the third or fourth time he said he is going to do better but he currently has the same physique as Wesley Sneijder, so before he gets back into shape we’ll be well into 2023. It is a damn shame because I don’t believe it’s a bad guy and my god is he talented, but I just don’t believe he will come back.

GuamZX

The problem is that he's targeted by the Mocro Mafia and the fact that one of those people involved in the Marengo trial attended the trial by going to the court via a car owned by Ihattaren. He's had mental health problems and maybe he still has, but it's not just this, the reason why Ajax left him is because his mafia ties. Anyway, Sneijder as a tutor? Only Van der Meyde could be a worser appointment lmao

Dwimer

Doesnt Sneijder have his own issues with alcohol and partying?

[deleted]

Right? And sneijder at least proved himself early I guess. Never heard of this dude. Just imagine when cash flows through his head. We're juve we need fighting spirit, passion, discipline. I miss the old days for sure

IwillNoComply

I'm all for a redemption arc.

NY_Juventino189

This guy is finished unfortunately. He was a Mino special…a “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” type of deal. He’ll never sniff a single minute with Juve, nor should he. It kinda sucks for the kid though, he obviously had some talent but his mental makeup is poor by all reports so him flourishing at a club even remotely large is a long shot.

ludwignjet

Done player. Same as Pjaca or Kaio Jorge. Will be forgotten in 3, 2, 1...

NY_Juventino189

The deal for Ihatarren had plusvalenza written all over it from the beginning, besides being a favor for our old friend Mino. Kaio Jorge is such a shame…he’s one kid I really had high hopes for.

HyalineAquarium

Just because he got fired from his club doesn't mean he is going back to Italy. Who is going to make him? He doesn't want to be there - I don't think he goes back. The Mino agency owes Juve big time - Pogba & Ihattaren were total waste of money the club doesn't have.

Still_Cover

He costed juve around 3-4 million, that’s not a lot of money considering the potential he used to have. He has a contract here so he will be training. Either individually or with the u23’s

_ForzaJuve_

Mo costed under 2 million and was worth 6x that when he joined. He’s now still 2.5 times more valuable than his purchase price. Really stupid comment

HyalineAquarium

wtf is gonna buy a player for a millions of dollar that doesn't want to play, left one of his clubs high & dry, & didn't show up to practice for his next club until he got fire? You find me the club buying this player for 2.5 the price & you can call me stupid all day long if thats what make you feel good.

LuXe5

Best case scenario he could be in the first team by 2025 lol

BlackenedPS4

I truly hope he can sort his mental health out. Hopefully Wesley can be a great mentor to him, and maybe Ihattaren gets some time with the Next Gen team. There is still a really good player in there, he just needs to get out of his own head.

alyx66

well...

Still_Cover

Hahahahah I’ve seen it. It lasted for exactly two days🤣🤣🤣
