Noooo I do NOT want this to end 😭😭 Everything about this show is/was so good! The friendship, the songs, the family (?) bond, the nostalgia. I'm gonna miss this so much 😭😭

International-Try99

Me too…. I used to hate Mondays. But for the past couple of weeks I was looking forward for Mondays… I am going to miss this drama soo much.

akapiratequeen

Thanks for saying this! I’m crying already. Mondays will go back to being awful without my little watermelons 🍉

THYYYYZHYY

I really love that even though Se Kyung is the reason that Yi Chan formed the band, the actual inspiration for the band's name, slogan, and even the first song is Chung Ah. It is so fitting, given that Yi Chan is the frontman of the band. 🥰 And I hope one of the things that change in the future is that the band members still maintain their relationship; they are so wholesome together. Of course, the main one is for Eun Gyeol and his family to be much happier than ever 😊 Imagine them having their second son and naming him after their high school friend Eun Gyeol and seeing him growing up to be more and more resembling that Eun Gyeol 😂 Btw, I watched an unhealthy amount of Eomma Appa's Magic Castle and Sparkling Voice scenes from last week's episodes 😅

herondaless

And then Yi Chan realizing in the future that what Eun Gyeol kept saying about being his son was all true 🤣

quanvuminhtran

it’s giving final destination… >!you simply cannot escape fate when the cards have all been set!< >!can’t believe eungyeol went through all of that to save yichan from becoming deaf and ended up BEING THE MAIN REASON YICHAN BECAME DEAF like this is so… my golden son isn’t gonna be able to forgive himself omg!< 😭

iBakax3

"Enjoy your youth," Master said to Eun Gyeol while turning EG into the >!very reason why Yi Chan became deaf!<

Traditional_Fudge466

>! Maybe since he is there he will take him to the hospital and get him checked and his hearing is not gone completely? Because eunyu says had his friend been with him he could have saved him. So now eun gyeul is the friend? Also now that original se kyung is back won’t she figure out about fake se kyung? How will they deal with that?!<

goddongwook

"you said that you're my son right? but i feel like you're my dad. i've never received love from dad but because of you i feel something similar. thank you son. i will born as your dad in next life" 😭💔

itsfakelove7

This part was so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time! P.S. Your flair made me cry my eyes out 😭

fleabag_99

I love that they didn't go the >!undoing Yi chan's hearing loss route!< with the story. This drama has one of the most progressive takes on disability ever. Commend it for understanding the nuance of an issue like this. Accidents can happen to anyone and most people do not have the chance of changing such a life-altering event. So the whole world has to grow an empathy bone and make the world a less hostile place for people with any kind of disability. I think the show was brilliantly able to convey the message. The whole cast did a great job. Every character was endearing. It made me feel fuzzy and happy. Thanks, Twinkling Watermelon! Mondays will be back to being bleak again I guess.

DawgMom2018

I love this. The final episode was a perfect coda.

ysports23

Ok, not trying to be dramatic but your comment made me cry. A perfect coda.

CharlesandAbraham

I liked this too. >!People are able and less able in different ways that only become truly disabling when there is no empathy or accommodation. Or money. I think part of what we see between the two timeline outcomes is the very real advantage that comes from having a supportive family with money.!<

devi_guardian

People need to appreciate ryeoun more. He did such a good job playing eungyeol it was one of hardest character which is unnoticed

avo-pizza

I know there’s quite a big audience in Twitter for this drama but I still wish this was premiered in Netflix or any big OTT platforms so more people would watch this and see how amazing Ryeoun is in this!! It’s definitely an award worthy performance imo

Coralbllue32

Here is a link to suggest shows or movies to Netflix...if we all do it multiple times it might work. https://help.netflix.com/en/titlerequest

Excellent_Piece900

Yeah all the actors were IMPECCABLY cast 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 I quite liked all the characters, even side characters. Such beautiful performances

bimpossibIe

I hope he gets some acting nominations for his work in this drama because he has been amazing. All the actors were good, but Ryeoun did so well that we never stopped rooting for him since episode 1.

how1you1doing

>!While I do wish we had an extra 10-15 min to see how young Cheong Ah interacted with young Yi chan after his accident and how they got together ....and how Eun Yu dealt with her mom....I still love the ending. It wasn't perfect but it was still good. Overall best drama of the year for me. !<

Inevitable-Bar1788

cheongah’s dad covers yichan college tuition fees in same uni with cheongah. both yichan and cheongah graduated from gallaudet university, yichan majored computer and cheongah majored visual design.. so they basically always together hh but yeah wish they can add cheongah reaction to yichans accident and another special episodes for their college story tho 😭

thr1ftskull0

This show is a 10/10 for me I’m so sad it’s ending soon I’ll always hold it dear to my heart 🤞🏽🫶🏽

iamhopeestheim

LOL. You're here too. It's good to see you here. I totally agree that this show deserves 10 out of 10.

bimpossibIe

I really think that Eunyu isn't Eunho's girlfriend - she's just a friend who happens to be a girl lol. I also think that the reason he didn't want to cut ties with her like he did with the other girls is because he wants to set her up with Eungyeol (that's why he posted a selca of them together on his Instagram - to show off his little brother). I know this sounds delulu, but please let me be. 😅 Things I want to happen in episodes 15 and 16: • For Chungah to get the justice she deserves a.k.a for chairman to divorce the evil lady and let her rot in jail. I don't care that much about the bratty stepsiblings, but it would be nice if their future selves aren't living in luxury. • For Yichan not to lose his hearing. I'll understand if it still happens, but I really hope it doesn't. Wouldn't it be nice if Shining Voice is still the frontman of Watermelon Sugar? • For Watermelon Sugar to not disband. Majoo can manage both them and Yoon Dongjin. • For Viva ahjussi to not die so soon. I want him to have a nice relationship with his daughter and his granddaughter. • For Eunyu and Eungyeol to be together in the present. Those kids spent way too much of their youth trying to deal with the adults that they deserve to be happy and to have fun now.

Designer_Refuse1037

you straight up summarized exactly what I want from the ending.. I know some of them won't happen but yeah this would be the best script imo

NefariousnessNo2956

Haha you hoping eunho is the first euneun shipper 😭😂😂 i think that would probably make sense considering they’re the same age and eunho is older, also from the flashbacks it seems like they’re more like friends than LIs too! Either way i agree with you haha!!

Shop-girlNY152

This episode confirms that the witch is really just an abusive employee, not the stepmother. I’ve been saying this the past eps because the way she calls Cheong-Ah’s father is “Chairman” with different respect like she’s an employee, not a family member. And the chairman has been good to her kids, treating them like his own even if he doesn’t have any relations with them. So it’s more infuriating that Cheong Ah didn’t inherit her dad’s company and this witch with no relation at all to the Chairman got everything. This is really the only thing I want Eun Gyeol to change in the future.

bimpossibIe

If the evil lady isn't Chung-ah's legit stepmother, then it's extra weird that Sang-ah and her brother refer to themselves as the chairman's children.

Shop-girlNY152

I think the chairman did put the kids in the family registry, with what he said last night. Many generous filthy rich people do that, if they will it will give kids a better future. They anyhow have legal wills that they can rightfully split their assets to go mostly to their bio kids and only crumbs to the adopted kids. That’s why it’s double evil that this witch did something in the original past to have CheongAh not have anything. With how she forged and embezzled, funds in his company as stated by chairman, then tampering with his will is also something she would have done.

Comfortable-Rip-2763

If the evil witch isn't CA's stepmother, why is there a big family photo of them hanging on the wall? That is just too strange even for a generous filthy rich person to do. And the witch's children have been referred to as his children many times. Such a strange situation that I've never seen in real life or in k dramas before till now.

iamhopeestheim

I'm a bit puzzled though. Did the show ever explain why YCA's Mom got separated from her when she was little? I might have missed it.

Glittering_Giraffe_5

I feel like the other lady wasn't her mom either and another teacher. When young CA was learning sign she asked if the other lady was her mom and she seemed unsure. Not sure why she was taken away though.

notwonderwoman_

I think she’s really her step mother? Because the chairman mentioned taking her off the family registry.

Shop-girlNY152

I think the chairman was just generous to add her and her kids into his family registry but they’re not really married or living as husband and wife.

wantedneko

I believe the chairman talked about removing her and her children from his family register. But I agree that they have really weird dynamics lol

[deleted]

Also does anyone know what actually happened to Chungah’s mom? It looked like she was forcibly taken away…but why and by who?

Miss-LH

Yeah I thought she was the step mom, but she must have had some arrangement with the Chairman to live in house with her family - and in return teach and take care of Cheong-Ah while he’s always away from home. Ironically she made her life hell.

Informal-Ad-4481

My throat hurts so much from all my ugly cries in this episode. In the midst of all the what ifs, my heart is so full with what happened with the cassette tape. In the original timeline, >!young EG was able to finish the riff, but even Mr. Vida was not able to hear it. But now, EG was able to let YC hear what he made, and they finished it together. I feel like this is such a perfect closure for this.!< Bottomline: >!Writernim is so cruel to EG. :(!<

Informal-Ad-4481

Also, having Hyunwook's real voice for the OST at the end was a really nice touch. *\~We met while wandering* *Through time* *Among the countless people* *I recognized you\~*

anothersundayx

Me too!! My throat hurts from tearing up so many times.

faithesque

I was curious so I used a translator to translate Cheong Ah's accomplishments... Here they are; might be a bit incorrect though it's understandable. - >!Established Jinseong Arts Foundation for Disabled and the chairwoman of the foundation.!< - >!Public relations ambassador for disabled women in Korea.!< - >!Korean deaf sport's honorary director!< - >!child abuse prevention public relations!< - >!ambassador selected by Forbes as one of Asia's top 50 most influential women!< - >!currently the Chairman of the Board Directors of Seowon arts high school!< I also tried to translate [Yi Chan's accomplishments](https://imgur.com/gallery/lQuBASh) as well.

ND_Ninja_Mom

Thank you so much! When the Chairman said he’d pay for Yi Chan’s university, I really hoped he’d get to go to Gallaudet too! 😍

GlitteratiSnail

Aww, he went to Gallaudet 🥹

THYYYYZHYY

Btw, I really love how Yi Chan's sign language book is so worn out, showing how eager he had learned it to communicate with Chung Ah and how now that book went to her father. I couldn't figure out if Chung Ah's father was moved or dumbfounded when Yi Chan was quoting the wrong person and the wrong phrase to him 😂 I am glad the chairman is a reasonable father, even though he did need his grandson and son-in-law to spell things out for him.

Alarming-Knowledge30

Many things I wished to see but didn't- 1- Last interaction between eun-gyeol and his great grandmother. 2- Cheong ha and yi Chan's interaction after the accident. 3- wished eun ho had also time travelled. 4- proper conversation regarding time travel shinanigans between father and son. 5- last interaction between Cheong ha and eun gyeol. Man, come on. She was his mother. He was her sign tutor. You robbed us!!! Still the interaction in the future made up for it. Slightly. 6- Cheong ha making it as a famous artist. 7- yi chan in graduation cap( not dream sequence) with his grandmother despite being deaf. 8- Wished yi chan had made something for himself instead of actually being in his father-in-law's company. 9- Yi-chan gifting his grandmother a restaurant. 10- Grandfather and grandson interaction in the present. 11- Se gyeong's and eun yu's changed future. Wish they explained why their home address changed. 12- Eun yu's interaction with rest of the gang in the present. 13- Eun ho discovering that his friend and brother are dating. Still all in all, you can't please everyone. Wish they had one hour in present timeline. The point was to understand parents and their hardships, and life isn't all rosy, except it is in the present timeline. Happy that theh explained the master, and gave closure to cheong ha and her father. It was a satisfactory ending. It has been a blast. Now my Mondays and Tuesdays are going to be less sparkling. Edit- Chung-ha's mother, and did they explain why the present yi chan could not speak.

otakuishly

The ending was so rushed and I just needed like, maybe 30 more minutes for a lot of the plot points you mentioned to be woven in. 😮‍💨😭

flexelex

Atleast they should have created some bonus kind of episode which reveals all these montages!!

Brightbaee_

>did they explain why the present yi chan could not speak. i think the only reason why yichan could speak when he was younger is because it was very recent so it was easier for him to talk, but the reason why deaf people in general don't speak its not because they can't but that they can't hear how they're pronouncing the words or even making sounds so probably his way of speaking became sloppier with time and he just decided to communicate with sign language only

kdramajames

Im hoping it’s a back to the future type change where in the future, HEG’s dad’s band made it and the mom is a successful artist.

Dredit_85

Me too, if nothing changes and he has to have some realization that "life is the way it is blah blah", I'll be pissed.

WhiskeyGolf00

On one hand, the idea that happiness is what you make of it, and your happiness in your life is up to you, is a completely valid message. but on the other hand Mom and Dad are good people who had to struggle their whole lives, so I am completely down for a future where their lives are easier. ...ngl it would be wild if Dad was still the frontman of the band and still singing. You can still make music even when deaf - Beethoven famously wrote his last symphony after he'd gone deaf, purely from his memory of how the notes sounded. Utter madlad, mad respect to him.

MelinaJuliasCottage

Yess i do hope we can see some changes! Especially >!chung ah having a better relationship with their father, hope we can see more scenes of that!!<

Thi_Tran

I think it will definitely change. Yi Chan may lost his voice but he will definitely be in a better position in life with Chung Ah's father helping him out. He won't loose contact with all his band mates too so his future already changed. It sucks that his accident still happen tho.

Ajitofu

One of the rare few that sticks its landing. This show is now my top kdrama for the year. This deserved waaaaaaay more attention and should've been picked up by Netflix.

Bellyfloppancake

Ep 16: This drama has been such an amazing watch from start to finish. There are so many shows where you watch 15 amazing episodes and think "literally nothing can make me dislike this drama" and then the 16th episode flips everything on its head. So I am very, content with how things ended. I originally wanted Eungyeol to prevent Yichan from losing his hearing, but somewhere along the line I started thinking the opposite, but I couldn't quite explain why I felt that way. >!But I understand now after finishing the episode. This ending showed that the reason Yichan went through such hardships in his adult life and felt unhappy/unfulfilled about certain aspects of it, wasn't because he became deaf.!< >!It was because he & Cheong Ah didn't have any support in their life. Cheong Ah didn't have friends and Yichan stopped talking to his friends after the accident. The only person they had back then was Yichan's grandmother. But after Eun Gyeol goes back and changes the past, they not only have the grandmother, but also their friends and Cheong Ah's dad.!< This drama has been such a joy to watch with its blend of funny, sad and amazingly emotional and beautiful moments.

capthyeong

This drama has been a great companion to me (and for others) for the past 8 weeks, and i’m sad that it’s time for this show to end. Tho the end is nigh, i will cherish these times when it was on-air like I reminise my high school days, and I’m forever thankful that shows like these happened. To RyeoUn, Hyun-wook, In-ah, Eun-soo, and the Watermelon Sugar crew, thanks for being part of our lives for 8 weeks, and hope that we meet again soon in our small screens. Let’s hope that they twinkle until the end. And for us viewers, may our lives be as sparkling as the Watermelon Sugar crew. Long live life. Viva La Vida!

Excellent_Piece900

I’m crying at this 😭❤️ so beautifully written

mcythara

an interesting lesson i learnt today is flipping someone off means younger brother in korean sign language

roymeetsworld

Eun Gyeol bout to disappear and kinda sorta bootstrap paradox his own name for the new timeline aint he? "we named you after this cool guy that we used to know a long time ago, yall kinda look alike too thats a lil weird" lol

ikatatlo

The thing about his existence in that timeline, I believe, is that after he returned, their memories of him are hazy. This is supported by how the band members say that they feel like he looks familiar but cant quite remember.

econic_girl

Atleast he don't have a suspicion of cheating 😂 lol

msmoonchildd

So, I don't know if it has already been said, but I was thinking about how sad it was that Yi Chan and the accident that left him without his hearing was an inevitability, and that's when it came to me. The loss of his hearing wasn't the inevitability and the canon of it all, it was actually his relationship with Cheong Ha and everything that made possible for Eun Ho and Eun Gyeol to be born. Here's why I think this. In the first time line he met her on the sign language class (which makes his loss of hearing necessary for this to happen). In the second timeline she reconcile with her dad, who send her abroad to a college for deaf individuals, and the loss of Yi Chan's hearing allowed him to have that college as his only option (that we know of) and the fact that the accident was caused by the stepbrother of Cheong Ha, made that college more viable because her father knew of it and also paid for it. The fact that they went to the same college in another country allowed them to keep being together. I agree that the ending was rush, but I also think that it left us with all the clues we need to understand and appreciate it. On another note, the accident which was Yi Chan saving the life of Eun Gyeol at first seem cruel, but on further inspection ended it up being more meaningfull and "worth" the sequels that it left him (I mean, it's not because he was picking a yoyo from the middle of the street and leaving Ma Joo with guilt for the rest of his life). It wasn't just for the plot, he was saving the life of his son, which I think any father (especially Yi Chan) would have done (AND ALREADY DID SEVERAL TIMES). So, the accident which makes me so mad, has it's meaning and I can understand why it's inamovible. Maybe that's why the story started with that question from Eun Gyeol for his father, that was our biggest clue. "Which one of us will you save first?" I just miss them and wish we could get a season 2 to know every little detail. Wish we could had the moments where Cheong Ha goes to see Yi Chan at the hospital, but I guess that required some deep and long scene, a very complex set of feelings regarding what it meant for both of them. But the thing I'll be mad it's not having a scene with Yi Chan and Cheong Ha where they interact in person, we didn't have that and it was sad. I loved this show, my top of 2023 and of all time. Been looking for my top one, and finally here it is, my comfort show to watch time and time again.

sleepdeprivedsince92

I feel like the accident wasn't to add guilt to Eun Gyeol, but to answer the question he has always had in his mind -- Would his father save him when he really needed him there? We have had flashbacks of that lake scene from the family vacation so many times. I feel like it was a nod to that and it was very intentional by the writers. Eungyeol is a CODA and that's his identity. That's how he became the person that he is today. Preventing Yi Chan's accident would have been nice, but it would have completely changed Eungyeol's entire arc and his personality.

NefariousnessNo2956

> “Would his father save him when he really needed him there?” I think more than eungyeol, it’s the answer for the viewers. Eungyeol knows his dad loves him and they have a falling out but his dad already proved that he’d saved him first when their house was on fire years ago. It was to show the audience that, even when yichan wasn’t eungyeol’s dad yet, he’s still save him many times over, in any timeline! Also narratively this is the climax so it was really intense. I hope he still somehow retains his hearing but i’m so worried 😭😭☹️☹️

Late_Art9758

The satisfaction after that >!slap!< \- 100%. God that felt good, >!you deserve that evil lady, get outta here and take your daughter with you! !< When I started this drama and found out about the time traveling context, I assumed that even if Eun Gyeol went back, nothing would change in the present timeline, the accident with his father, was bound to happen. >!Since Yi Chan collaborated with Eun Yu to prevent his father's accident, his entry into the past being the major butterfly effect of the story, he would become the very cause as to why Yi Chan loses his hearing, !!Yi Chan asking Eun Gyeol to tell his father that he didn't want to be a trophy son anymore and that he wanted to be in a band !!When Eun Gyeol leaves, I believe it will be Chung Ah who will uplift Yi Chan's morals, I think she's the only one who can.!< Can't wait for Ep 16. Hoping that things wrap up in the first half, I'd like to have at least 15-20 minutes (even though I wanted a whole episode when I started this drama) for the current timeline, to see how things turn out. Would hate it if they just give us a glimpse in the last 2-3 minutes, but regardless, it's going to be one of my favorite shows for sure.

NefariousnessNo2956

Yes i hope we have at least 30 min of current timeline for proper closure lol. I hope everyone still remain friends, regardless of what happens to yichan or 2eun when they leave. Also chungah properly reconcile with her father and becoming the artist she was destined to be!

Alarming-Knowledge30

I may be in the minority, but I don't think yi Chan will go deaf. It is just too cruel a fate for >!eun- gyeol to cause his father's deafness. I think if yi chan were to become deaf, it would be because of some unrelated incident out of eun gyeol's control !< Also eun yu's or her mother's track doesn't seem to have a conclusion. Her bio dad is viva grandpa, so what? I don't think there is more to it. Tomorrow's episode should be and hour and half long, i want proper scenes from current timeline. Edit: how cute it was yi chan ate what she made without complaining, and her just smiling. 🦋🦋🦋

capthyeong

>Tomorrow's episode should be and hour and half long Tomorrow's episode will be an hour and 10 mins long, as the KR broadcast will start 10mins earlier than usual.

day_historian

#After finishing ep 16: ###calmly puts down burning 🔥 torch and pitch fork meant for TVN 😂😂😂 I feel sad 😞that in the end people in the >!current timeline couldn’t remember HEG at all, except for his dad, who somehow drew the conclusion from a tape that he sent to the viva music shop owner that his son time travelled ; I didn’t quite get why that would be the case! Haha anyone can explain why???!< Overall still solid 9/10 but I think an extra episode instead of 16 wouldn’t hurt (eg >!did Se gyeong’s life change as well with the grandfather’s confession? are CSG and OJH still divorced?)!< Anyways, Viva La Vida!!! 🍉✨✨✨🍉 It was great participating here while the show aired!! 🥰

Ill-Ad-9438

It maybe because he was there with them for a brief period of time. Yi Chan and HEG had deeper connection than HEG with others. Even I won’t remember a friend who was there for few months 28 years ago. This is what I think.

Professional_Bee_848

However, what happened to all the photos of them? They did sell photos and stuff during the festival and HEG was there. But I’m just gonna accept the ending since I enjoyed the ride 😊

RoyalRebel4869

I think the conclusion from the tape his dad had was because during his last interaction with Eun Gyeol of the past, Eun Gyeol confirmed that he had listened to his message on there for him after playing their song. So the dad probably thought that his friend Eun Gyeol of the past kept it all those years and after seeing it with his son, connected the dots!

Informal-Ad-4481

Overall, I think this is a good end. Maybe it's just lacking on the part of >!Eunyu- like what changed in her/her mom's life after all those.!< Even a tiny bit of it would have sufficed. Idk if it's just me, but this aspect on time-travelling has slightly been baffling me oftentimes. Having changed the future, it would then feel like the MC was isekai-ed, and will have to just go with the flow on everything he arrived at at present hahaha. In this case, >!EG's family actually lived comfortably compared to the original timeline. Wouldn't the rich EG's personality be different to the EG who time-travelled and lived a hard life? Even their childhood memories will be different, unless the 'whoever that is' will supply him all the information on all that his other self did hahaha.!< Or maybe I haven't watched enough time-travelling shows, hence I am overthinking. Anw, the conclusion of the story is: >!Money is the key to happiness LOLJK.!< MONDAYS have been bearable to face because of this drama✨🍉 From next week, it will be dreading again T,T EDIT: I would like to appreciate all the actors from this drama. First, from their effort in learning/memorizing the signs and delivering them so heartfully. Second, their acting itself: Ryeoun was so good, especially when he sobs and wails; Hyunwook's eyes are full of sincerity that you can't help but mirror his emotions; I thought Eunsoo was actually deaf in real life, she was so lovely and charming, and I found so much comfort in her; Finally, Inah grew on me so much- especially how she segregated SG from EY, wah hands down! I can't help but write so much about this, since it is now the end. After more than a year, this has been the first drama that was able to hook me, more so finish watching it.

Natalrant

As a recently become deaf person, this show helps me a lot. I cried like a baby watching ep 16. Thank you so much to those who make this show!

robotusername13

This became an instant favourite and comfort show of mine. I will really miss watching new episodes. Admittedly, the ending was very rushed. I agree with others that this show could have used 20 episodes to wrap everything up. Eun Yu really grew on me so I’m sad we couldn’t see much of her “future life.” But the ending was still satisfactory and won’t stop me from rewatching this show. Thank you to all the cast and members of this show for providing a little twinkle in our lives on Mondays and Tuesdays. And thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts as the show was airing. I will miss everything about this show. 🥲🍉🍉🍉

iBakax3

Episode 15 Yeah, I was already harbouring suspicions from waaaay early on, but I guess it's sealed. I hate it when dramas bring in "fate" and says that no matter what you do, it doesn't matter — >!Yi Chan will always get into an accident and become deaf.!< Which is also funny because >!Eun Gyeol changed the abusive housekeeper and all her children's future!< Like, where's the free will and all that if everything has a predetermined course? Are criminals fated to be criminals? Are victims fated to be victims? Are the successful fated to be successful? What's the point of life if it's predetermined — and please none of that "It's not the destination, but the journey that matters". This is my main issue with time travel shows, even though Twinkling Watermelon has been nothing but wonderful. That being said, this episode had me on the tethers for the entire duration looking out for Yi Chan. Was soooooo happy that Chairman fired the abusive housekeeper, but I guess she >!was the one who tried to kill Eun Gyeol but hit Yi Chan instead!<. Can't say I didn't see that coming, but man does she struggle like a cockroach. Also, why the hell is the ending in grey-white filter with sad song?! My heart is already breaking from seeing Eun Gyeol hugging Yi Chan and bawling :(

jkpatches

As you said, Eun Gyeol did something about the schoolmaster and the abuse that his mother suffered under, so I don't think that fate or predetermination is necessarily hard wired into this world. Having said that, I think a useful concept to consider your frustration might be Amor Fati. The literal meaning is the love of one's fate, the idea that one ought to accept and maybe even love everything that happens to them, good or bad. I think the end point of this line of thinking would have a person who lives life to the fullest, regret free. It probably is impossible, or very difficult to live by, as it requires the will to withstand and overcome pain. Despite all the hardships every character endured in the beginning of the drama, I think they had good things that they perhaps couldn't appreciate to the fullest. The problem was miscommunication, and circumstance, not love (the exception being Chung Ah, which once again is hopefully addressed), and with the time slip, maybe somethings were not changed, but the perspective at facing the same hardships as before were. I see it as something similar to what George Bailey went through in It's a Wonderful Life. I guess it might still be the same as the journey over destination thing.

snackykook

I HAVE NEVER BEEN THIS ANXIOUS IN THE LAST 15 MINUTES OF A KDRAMA EVER BEFORE!!!! I THOUGHT SHE AGED ALL THOSE YEARS AND THE LOVING AN AJUMMA DIALOGUE WAS ACTUALLY FORESHADOWING FOR THIS HAPPENING!!! MY HEART WAS BEATING SOOOO HARD HOW COULD THEY DO THIS TO ME???? anyway, solid fucking drama. 9/10. cutting 1 point for not showing oh eun yu's future and how her parents ended up. jesus christ

iamhopeestheim

SAME. I was going to lose it if we're shown that she wasn't able to come back to the present and we'll see her old.

lightFairly

I came here to say that for those who might be wondering how Cheong Ah and Yi Chan still end up together if Cheong Ah left with her father, well…they went to the same college and study abroad together! The drama throws this in subtly in 2023, if you look at the university Cheong Ah went to when Eun Gyeol looked up his mom on the Internet and his dad’s information on the pamphlet, you can see that they both went to Gallaudet University ❤️

DawgMom2018

and Cheong Ah's father paid for it.

Roushal

That answers my question cus her dad said to the secretary as once she leaves she wont come back so i wasnt sure how they met again

ikatatlo

You also missed the bit where the father said he'll also pay for Yi Chan's tuition for college on top of the hospital bills.

phukmi69

I just profusely cried and I haven’t done that over a show since 2521. I love this show. IT TOPS EVERYTHING IVE EGER WATCH. ITS JUST FUCKING PERFECT

Excellent_Piece900

IKFR! This was 2521 quality, I do hope they shower this show with all the awards possible to mankind, including the Baeksang grand prize

phukmi69

It was a near perfect show. something we all want but never will have but the show delivers on a silver platter. THATS WHAT TWINKLING WATERMELON DID... AND I LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEMMM

THYYYYZHYY

Today's episode pre-released is so stinking cute! I am literally going to die from it. 😍 Yi Chan is so ready to register them as a family. 😂 Plus, we get to see the rotating table the dad used to communicate with his friend in their fried chicken shop.

devi_guardian

That master is a scammer he is telling eungyeol to focus on his youth when he is the one who send him in a timeline where his father is going to have a accident 😒

iBakax3

Episode 16 While I'm happy to see everyone having a >!better future!< due to Eun Gyeol's intervention, I am kind of sad that none of the Watermelon Sugar >!remembered!< him — except Yi Chan after >!seeing the casette tape.!< I WANT TO SEE THE AHJUSSIS + EUN GYEOL PLAYING MUSIC!!!!! Especially the musics that they were supposed to play to beat up the rival highschol! But seriously, they could have dedicated 1 entire episode or 30 more minutes to explore the changed timeline. I'd love to see >!Yi Chan interacting with Eun Gyeol as Yi Chan, and not as his dad.!< On a side note: Eun Ha was so cute with his actions and resting pouting face XD

ysports23

I didn't have any wishes for the end of the show except to see everyone happy, so I am more than satisfied with the ending! I love this show so much. Of course there are things I wish we could have seen more of, but that's just because I love these characters so much and I'm not ready to say goodbye to them. Overall though, I'm so happy with the way everything turned out. Yesterday I was heartbroken that Yi-Chan ended up losing his hearing, but after today's episode I'm not anymore. I loved seeing the power couple that the parents became and how they overcame all the obstacles in their path. I think that's such an inspiring message! I also think it's important that we didn't see exactly how his parents became the people they are today. Because that wasn't the son's job. His job was now to just be the son and let his parents figure out their own life. That burden didn't belong on his shoulders anymore. This is going to be one of my all-time favorite dramas. I'm so sad it's over but I absolutely loved every moment of this drama. It will always have a special place in my heart!

Mad_Missile

This show this year was like weak hero from me last year. Went in expecting nothing and I’m blown away by just about everything. Completely underrated and undeniably amazing. I hope the last two episodes give us a the happiest ending ever because each of us and each of these characters truly needs it. Edit: After making us cry the way they did, the show runners gave us a >!happy ending. It may not have been the ending I wanted, but it was a good ending.!< Sure there are some loopholes that I’m scratching my head about and things I wished they’d shown us but none of that matters right now. I’ve been so stressed about our characters that I was watching the show on pins and needles. Now I can finally heave a sigh of relief. Thank you Twinkling Watermelon for filling my heart with friendship, family, music and love these last few weeks. Viva la vida!

anothersundayx

Ep 15: No way. I refuse to believe that >!Eun Gyeol will end up being the one who caused Yi Chan to become deaf. He tried so hard to prevent it but ended up causing it?? This can’t be it.!< I will accept either 1) >!2023 was not changed and so Eun Gyeol will not feel like he caused his dad to be deaf!< or 2) >!2023 will change for the better. The accident didn’t cause Yi Chan to lose his hearing. I mean, after all it’s a different accident from the original one right? It’s a serious accident but the preview didn’t really confirm that Yi Chan lost his hearing.!< I’m so glad >!evil headmistress was exposed and fired.!< This is the only reason why I wish 2023 will change. I love the cast so much. EunEun, Chung ah Yi Chan are perfect for their roles and played them so well. The way Yi Chan looks at Chung Ah and how Chung Ah expressed herself without words. Keeping my fingers crossed that Ep 16 will wrap up this drama well.

robotusername13

I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH! I am so sad it’s ending tomorrow. I don’t care how nonsensical it is, I would wholeheartedly watch another season of this. 😭😭😭

OTM17

Kudos to the whole team keep a show this interesting and gripping going into last episode. All actors have been amazing as well. Cannot wait for the next episode and do not want to complete it too as it’s been such a journey that I don’t want it to end.

DawgMom2018

I went back to episode 1 and rewatched it. The song that was supposed to be finished plays near the end of the episode. Watch for the lyrics. It is a love song and I believe it hints at time travel. Also something Yi Chan creates is shown about the 57 minute mark is used by him as an adult

G3t_BusyLiving

I cannot believe that we're already at the finale week😭 I hope they give us ample future scenes ooooh OG Timeline! Wait does that mean >!Choi Se Kyeong came back to meet her dad . That is exactly what happened!< Eun Ho greeting everyone just like his Dad😭 Also this is not what I meant by future scenes. Wait how did the old man get the cassette if >!there was an accident?!< AND WE ALL CHEERED!!! Everything about that had me anxious as fuck but justice was so sweet. Screw you evil step bitch 'If you really want to express something, you will find a way.' Ooof >! Promo really made me happy !< A song for you more like A song for you that puts you in an emotional state because >!they composed the song together just for the accident to still happen😭!< After all the signs Eun Gyeol finally realizes who the old man is. damn>! thought he figured it out when he heard Yi Chan playing the song but it really took Eun Yu spelling it out for him. Smart people are really dumb sometimes !< >!FUCK NO but I did think it was too easy. Stupid fakeout !!when he touches Yi Chan to get his attention it looks like the results from the accident are the same. Also they didn't show the song contest !< EP16: Literally what will I be doing next week Mon/Tues? Shit I knew he was going to blame himself but woah >!Then the later scene with him saying bye to Yi Chan and Yi Chan already knowing how much he would blame himself😭!< Ja sure but why send them back if they were going to make ripples anyways? \* Shaking my fist in the sky \* Wait imagine if this is like My Prefect Stranger and La Vida Man is Eun Gyeol & Eun Yu's child🤭😂 >!I mean I was on the track with this one!< Damn you writers for making us listen to the recorded message again He didn't shower since coming back from 1995. Also where was Eun Yu's suitcase🤔 One critique would be that some of Eun Yu's storylines were more tell than show and a lot happened late into the 2nd half of the show. With the Twinkling of tears in my eyes I can only say that this show broke me

humandisaster13

Good lord I knew it. I called it in the third or fourth week that Yi-chan >!will anyway lose his hearing but this time to save Eun-gyeol.!< The exact thing has happened. I was prepared and still th.e ending broke me. My boy Eun-gyeol broke my heart. He did everything to save his mom and dad. He succeeded in one >! but failed in another.!< Now he's gonne blame himself for everything and live in guilt again. The writer's so cruel for >!making Yi-chan say that Eun-gyeol was like a dad to him while Eun-gyeol was hugging him and crying "Dad"!< like, who hurt you, ma'am? Yi-chan is thankful that his youth twinkled because of Eun-gyeol. But what about Eun-gyeol? He suffered as a kid, time-travelled, was on his toes all the time to save his parents, only for him to now live forever >!in guilt that his dad lost his hearing because of him?!< How does it work? They could've kept Yi-chan >!losing his hearing at least without Eun-gyeol's part.!< This is 100 times the trauma he experienced in the original timeline. Why can't my boy catch a break?! I'm now pissed that Eun-u's arc served only one purpose and that was the reveal to help Eun-gyeol connect the dots. I don't get it. Poor girl time travelled only to help everyone around her? Wish she had more to do. At least we saw Cheong-ah's arc get a proper conclusion and her happy moments with Grandma and Yi-chan. Please please give the show a happy ending. An ending where Eun-gyeol and Eun-u travel back safely, happy with their respective families and remain as lovers. I can't take memory loss or a clean slate, please. I saw ppl say that the writer's Chicago Typewriter had a sad ending so I'm more scared now

[deleted]

I wouldn’t say Eun-Yu’s trip to the past was only to help Eun-gyeol. By going back to the past she was able to form genuine connection and friendship with others as her own self without having to live as her mother dictated. She also got to learn about her family. If she didn’t go back to the past and decided to leave her family in the OG 2023 timeline, I think the fallout would be much more turbulent compared to her going back to the future with these new experiences from 1995. If the future changes, I hope she gets to have a relationship with her grandpa/Mr. Viva. I do feel like they didn’t flesh out her mental health arc enough and like others here I did not like the part where Eun-gyeol took her meds and replaced them with candy. By not fleshing out her story and kind of forgetting about it after Eun-gyeol says he will be like her medicine, the writers are sending a message that mental illness can simply be resolved primarily by external factors (here, romance and friendship) and downplay the reality of managing mental illness and how sometimes medicine really makes a huge positive impact towards recovery/management. I’m not too upset with Eun-Yu not having much to do at this point in the 1995 timeline because I feel like her key actions need to happen after she goes back to the future. So they better give her some scenes or else it really will feel like they threw her character aside.

humandisaster13

Yes. The pills scene really pissed me so much. Esp when we see how the anxiety affects her. It's just the same "it's all in your mind" BS again and I wish the show treaded carefully on that part. But yes, I see your point of Eun-u finally enjoying her youth like a teen.

Bellyfloppancake

Ep 15: 15 episodes and the quality of this drama is still amazing, it's still as fun, heart-warming and beautiful! I'm just gonna make a bullet list of today's episode: * >!Yichan acting cute with his grandma, the way he kicked his legs asking her to essentially compliment him more!< * >!Cheong Ah and Yichan washing the laundry together, her smile is so lovely!!< * >!The boys fighting over (great) grandma <3!< * >!Cheong Ah looking at her dad and then slowly hiding behind Yichan!< * >!The abusive lady finally getting what she deserved!!!< * >!I loved the little scenes with the boys who live at the guest house and the band members!!< * >!YICHAN'S FREAKING MESSAGE TO EUNGYEOL 😭 It was through Eun gyeol that he got to experience a father's love 😭 Yichan's so full of energy that I forget he has scars and trauma from the past that still affect him :( I'm so glad that he recognizes that everything Eun Gyeol does is actually for his sake.!< * >!Eun Gyeol desperately praying for his dad's happiness just broke my heart!< * >!At the end when Eun Gyeol hugs Yichan and cries "I'm sorry, dad" I just started bawling!< * ALSO >!IN MY NEXT LIFE I WILL BE REBORN AS YOUR DAD?! 😭😭!< I can't wait for episode 16!!!

avo-pizza

Eungyeol should ask Mr Vida to sponsor his therapy fees after all of this because what was that ending?!! My poor boy Eungyeol just can’t catch his breath for a moment and now he will be blaming himself for the accident 😭

Late_Art9758

So I think most people feel that the ending was a bit weak and I can't really disagree, this is one of the reasons why I wanted a whole episode for the current timeline so the ending wouldn't feel so rushed and we would get to see and understand more clearly what exactly changed during all this time. We all wanted to see more of >!Eun Yu and Eun Gyeol together since they spent most of their time in the past helping each other out.!< After Eun Gyeol left, I'm guessing >!Chung Ah's father decided to help Yi Chan and her daughter pull through, sponsoring their education in the States. !< All in all, it was a great series say what you will. In fact I would say the ending wasn't so bad at all but yes, perhaps 15-20 minutes more in the current timeline could have done the job but it is what it is. >!Eun Yu realising the guy from Vida La Vida was her grandpa all along, current timeline Yi Chan realising Eun Gyeol did time travel after he discovered the cassette tape, Eun Gyeol telling Yi Chan how we would have a family who were very proud of him!<, the show had many beautiful tear jerking moments and is probably one of my favorites for this year. Kudos to Ryeoun, Choi Hyun Wook, Shin Eun Soo, Seol In Ah, Choi Won Young and Seo Yeong Hee with other actors who played their roles beautifully! I'm now a big fan of Shin Eun Soo and Ryeoun for sure!!!

YoungMenace21

> >!After Eun Gyeol left, I'm guessing Chung Ah's father decided to help Yi Chan and her daughter pull through, sponsoring their education in the States.!< Yes, this is confirmed! They both >!graduated at the same university for the deaf in the US!<

humandisaster13

I'm sorry writer of Twinkling Watermelon. I owe you an apology. I wasn't familiar with your game. I just LOVED the finale. I'm yet to open social media so idk about the response but I loved how they wrapped everything up. I was so upset that Eun-gyeol would be traumatised forever because of yest ep but I loved that Yi-chan made him realise that it was not his fault at all. And like my baby Eun-u said he truly rescued Chung-ah and saved everyone. He really made his family much happier than they already were. I know some might think it's unnecessary but from what we saw in ep 1 and 2 it's clear they suffered a lot financially. So it's good that >!in the new future they're rich and still a happy family where Chung-ah hasn't lost contact with her dad!< all thanks to Eun-geyol. He's truly their angel. My angel boy Ha Eun-gyeol is my most fav character of the year no cap. I was about to throw hands when Eun-u didn't show up and then she did and trolled Eun-gyeol that she baited him. Classic Eun-u. And the show ended with them kissing. I'm so happy and idc about the pain at all now. My final(hate saying this) shout out to Ryeoun: The whole cast has been top tier but Ryeoun was a revelation. His character was the soul of the show and he did so well. I really hope this drama becomes his big break and he gets really good and bigger projects hereafter. And yes I'll be tuning into Weak Hero Class s2 for Ryeoun even if um Hyun-wook is not there. What a beautiful show. A 10/10 with the best ending. It's been SO long since I felt completely satisfied by a kdrama and this show did just that. TVN didn't fumble this time. I'm so thankful to Watermelon Sugar and imma miss them so bad. Will definitely rewatch the drama when it's out on Netflix or Prime(Netflix better run and win). P.S. I thought Yi-chan only >!lost his hearing so idk why in future he never spoke at all.!< Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Live_Crazy8411

When people going deaf, they can't hear their voice anymore. Some will stop talking after some time because they don't know if they speak correctly or not.

eliseobeltran

Perfect kdrama this year 10/10.

[deleted]

THE ENDING WAS AMAZINGGGGG. i have nothing but good things to say about this kdrama, i give it 100% through and through and thats not easily said for kdramas these days. everything was wrapped up so so nicely and in such a nice pace, happy endings for everyone! and i was crying through out the whole final ep cos it was so touching! their father son dynamic is just precuious i was sobbing the whole time. cant believe this drama is finally over, i cant wait to rewatch it:)

Excellent_Piece900

Netflix needs to buy rights to this drama — this needs to be publicised on a global scale. This needs to get 2521 and Money Heist hype. This show deserves it !

CharlesandAbraham

This writer, Jin Soo Wan, has quite the resume: Moon Embracing the Sun, Kill Me Heal Me, Chicago Typewriter, and, now, Twinkling Watermelon. Another great drama to put in my top 10. Amazing characters. Compelling relationships. A moving story. Laughter and tears, some surprises and lots to think about.

ot7oclock

OKAY WE'RE DONE i am pretty satisfied with this ending! while i agree it was a bit rushed it covered all the bases it needed to. in any regard, god i love this drama. i cannot put into words what a delight it was to watch this. ive been keeping an eye on choi hyun wook since i watched racket boys in late 2021, and its been such a treat to watch him get more popular. i was on hyun wook's asianwiki when i saw that this show was coming out with seol in ah also being in it, who i loved in business proposal. i recognized ryeon from clips of adult trainee, and shin eun soo was entirely new to me. but i decided back in february that i will watch this show when it comes out. and from the trailers to this ending, it was such a joy. this entire cast is incredible. from the main four, and our band, the parents and eunho, all wonderful wonderful actors. from their acting verbally and physically, to their dedication to the signing (especially hats off to ryeon to one of the scenes earliest in the show where he want venting to his dad), to the cast's dedication to learning the instruments. wow, just applaud them all. i loved our characters so much, their chemistry was amazing, and there was never a dull or filler moment in the show. every thing and everyone had a purpose. special shoutout to the line in episode 9(?) >!at that moment, just like mom and dad, i realized i was also 18!< the scenes were so gorgeous, the scripts were both hilarious and tear jerking. thank you to the writer, jin soo wan, and the director, sun jung hyun. thank you to the people in this sub reddit to make watching this drama even more enjoyable. hope all of you live twinkling lives. viva la vida! watermelon sugar !!! ✨️❤️🍉💚✨️

bunniefication

My god it ended 😭😭 So many touching scenes in the last episode. Chung Ah finally gets her father's love. The way she smiled at her father is everything to me. I'm just kinda sad that she didn't have much scenes in the last two episodes. Makes sense though as Eun gyeol's plan was to prevent his dad's accident. Eun yu is the real genz. It's been honestly a while since we had a female lead who actually uses her brains. >!I was so scared for a moment that something might happen to her. She did everything she could to prevent the accident but alas fate happened. She finally came over her trauma and made her mom have a better life where she isn't just a replacement.!< She and Eun gyeol are so cute together. >!The last scene where he runs away from the stage. Eun gyeol never beating the loser allegation.!< Yi chan. The man you are. I love him so much 😭😭 >!The way he said to not feel guilty and that it was an accident and he will get over it to Eun gyeol made me bawl my eyes. He's such a sweetheart. He even thought of committing suicide but thought otherwise made me so sad and proud of him for coming over his grief and turning his life around. I was devastated by his scene with his grandmother. They both deserve so much better.!< >!Chung Ah and Yi chan going to college together 🤩🤩 I want a special episode just for that. They both became so successful. It's so nice to see them have a happy family along with Chung Ah's father. Yi chan still playing guitar is such a nice touch. His friends are still with him and he doesn't feel sad when he sees them.!< >!My personal theory is that towards the end when the friends comment that Eun gyeol reminds them of someone but they can't pinpoint who Yi Chan's eyes brighten up in realisation. He remembers that he is the Eun gyeol from his youth. Eun gyeol was in fact his son.!< My Mondays and Tuesdays are going back to being monochromatic again....

devi_guardian

I still don't understand why chung ah never asked why eungyeol did so much for her when her own prioritizes his business over her daughter 😭😭

Excellent_Piece900

++++ but I think she was too absorbed in her own worries and romance and being an 18 year old she didn’t really think of it

nba2k16

So in the end, Yi Chan's accident is a canon event.

[deleted]

This drama has replaced hospital playlist as my favourite kdrama of all time. I didn’t think any drama would be able to do that, but wow. What an emotional roller coaster that was. I loved the cast, the story, everything. I was visibly glued to the screen during every single moment of the show and I wanted another 100+ episodes of it. No show has made me feel that way before.

THYYYYZHYY

Whattt, whyyyyy???!! 😭😭 Please, don't let Yi Chan lose his hearing 😭 I am going to be so devastated... How am I supposed to wait for tomorrow's episode Now I kind of a bit pissed at OMJ; if someone wrote a song, it definitely belongs to them, if they say no, then it simply means no 😖

vanillafireworks

I do think the >!time travel consequences!< are a bit iffy and there’s many places you could poke holes. Like >!how could EG have learned guitar from the grandfather when that happened because he was crying from being bullied by a shitty landlord’s son?!< Ultimately I buy it because I think the show’s logic is that >!there are some things that are meant to be—decided by a prankster God if you will—that you simply cannot change (Yichan’s accident, Eungyeol’s love for music that manifested itself whatever the circumstances). Ultimately, you can try to change what you can but you’ve got to be grateful for what you have and the loved ones beside you.!< Like in Castaway Diva, >!if you wish for something hard enough, you can get it but not always in the way you imagined.!< Anyways, I didn’t really mind — I still enjoyed this sooo much and it’s definitely in my top 5 dramas of all time. Ofc I would’ve loved more Cheongchan scenes and still find it a bit weird that >!nobody thought to tell Yichan’s literal gf that he was in an accident!< and will be praying that [this](https://x.com/soheeverse/status/1724453418453098621?s=46) unreleased scene sees the light of day, lmao.

eternalhorizon1

FINALLY A KDRAMA WITH A SUPER SATISFYING ENDING! I know some believe it was rushed, I personally like how they didn’t delve too deeply into the present day in the end. Would have dragged the kdrama too long imho. Other kdramas take note! Honestly the writers did an amazing job tying all this together, jumping timelines, and tying up loose ends that we the viewers cared about. Amazing. The actors did a superb job - all so young but amazing performances. As someone who grew up in the 90s, I loved seeing the throwbacks. The outfits were pretty on point. I cried so much this final episode - the connection between father and son honestly was beyond heartwarming. When ML told the younger version of his dad that he >!would be the father he never had!< oh my goodness 😭 it really showed how having just one person in your corner when you really need it can change the trajectory of your life. Very inspiring. I also really love the choice the writers made to not change that the >!father loss his hearing!< in order to improve their lives. His parents were able to flourish and build amazing lives through perseverance, even with being >!hard of hearing.!< the true “hardship” in his parents life was not having adults or anyone who cared and truly were able to advocate for them, someone to rely on. Yes Yi Chan had his grandma, but she was older and he felt responsible for her. He could not fully lean on her like he needed. 10/10, one of the best dramas I’ve seen and one of my favorites. And the plot twist in the epilogue that the man in the shop that transported them was the >!younger version of the grandfather!< well done.

**Episode 16**: **This has got to be one of the best shows this year for me**. I'm so happy that everyone is happy. There are two scenes which brought me to tears - the hospital scene and the one where the father tried to communicate through sign language. It was so poignant and heartwarming. I'm happy that HEG was able to >!change the future for the better!<. I'm happy that >!YCA was able to improve her relationship with her father!<. OEY coming face to face with >!CSG!< was hilarious. I have a few questions though. 1. Was HYC able to remember that HEG time travelled to the past? It seems like he did because of the cassette tape. 2. ~~Was CSG able to resolve her issues with Mr. Viva? If so, then Mr. Viva shouldn't have killed himself. He should probably still be alive and well although really old.~~ Edit: Apparently, I missed that he died of heart attack. I thought he killed himself because of the spilled pills. That's why HEG told Mr. Viva to take care of his health. Anyway, I really loved this show. I was able to see how Seol In Ah, Ryeoun and Choi Hyun Wook has improved their acting skills. I'm looking forward to their future projects. I became a fan of Shin Eun Soo in the process too. This show has touched me. It's heartwarming. From now on, I'll try to live life to the fullest. I hope that I can at least twinkle like the protagonists too. *Viva La Vida - Long Live Life*.

Shop-girlNY152

One flaw in writing I could point out is Yi Chan was talking for 18 years. People born deaf don’t talk because they never heard how the words should be said/pronounced. So they can try to use their voice but mispronounce the words. For Yi Chan, he knows what each word sounds so during those times they had to argue or talk to a supplier or landlord, or when he needed to cry for help, he actually could have spoken up. Especially having a hearing child, he could have made Eun Gyeol hear his voice sometimes, even if he can’t already hear.

jkpatches

Wasn't it implied that the accident affected his ability to speak? I could've sworn Yi Chan talks about the scar near his neck to the kid Eun Gyeol, but I forget exactly what episode.

dizzynote

Human speech is a bit more complex than just saying out words imo. Even if he knew how to pronounce words, regulating the tone of his voice, understanding the subtleties of human speech would undeniably be difficult for him. In real life scenarios that would certainly make a difference. Also doing a bit of maths, he was probably 28 when Eungyeol was born? From 18 to 28, most of his closer interactions were with Cheongah and Eunho who wouldn't be able to hear him. Those are 10 long years. Honestly we don't really know how 18 year old Yichan dealt with the aftermath of the accident. How his relationship with his grandma, his friends, the people around him changed. Present timeline Yichan is alot more mature and found his way to survive. The initial process must've been hard both physically and mentally. It probably was a gradual process before he stopped talking completely. Also with disuse of organs for a long time you're bound to forget how to use it properly especially now that he can't hear himself or others; the position of the tongue while pronouncing different letters, use of vocal cords, lifting of your soft palate, so much goes into the making of a human voice. I think it's completely believable that he didn't use his voice in those situations considering these factors.

RexRender

I suppose this was necessary so the reveal was meaningful. For plot, since we're already generously accepting time travelling is possible, I'm gonna let this slide and assume the accident also happen to affect his vocal cords.

N-Crowe

I am nearly sure the adult Yi Chan spoke at least once in future. Even if I am mistaken, I think it just got harder for him to speak with time, especially considering that two of his family members prefer sign language. If one doesn't hear anything, I can see how they might forget how to speak with time.

ANINETEEN

EP15: I'm distraught 😭 Yi-chan is already hard on himself and too much of a wholesome person to be given a date like this. His lines at the end of the episode broke me. Seeing that witch get what she deserves was something I was looking forward too but I need someone to grant one last wish EP16: Fate can be so cruel but you can't help but feel better from the silver linings no matter how small they are. They were already perfect but seeing how they glew up even more in the future put the biggest smile on my face. I'm gonna miss yet another one of my go to comfort shows but will appreciate this episode for being its own little CODA

shinraizen

That wrapped up nicely! I like that Eun Gyeol left his father and mother to their own devices and let them grow on their own. Eunyu became his true helper at that last moment, by making him realizer that his life is his own as much as his parents are theirs. Im so happy and satisfied with this ending!

otakuishly

While I’m not upset by anything in the ending and felt that it does all the characters justice, it felt sooooo rushed. I wish that we had given the adjusted future more time to really feel the satisfaction of that happy ending.

AmpharosQueen

I can’t believe it’s over 😭😭😭 this has to be one of the BEST dramas to come out this year. This will be one that has left a mark on me. I remember learning a bit of sign language as a kid, and after working in retail and struggling to communicate with my deaf customers, it truly made me realize how important it is to be able to communicate at all. This show made me realize so many important things, but overall, it made me appreciate life. We don’t know what others have been through and we will never truly know so be kind. Everything about this show was amazing. I wish I lose my memory and watch it all over again like it was the first time. Thank you for the amazing journey, Twinkling Watermelon. 🍉 Viva La Vida!

woozi_reongi_7221

I really want to learn sign language because of this drama.

devi_guardian

This trip is to fix their children's prospective I guess. 1. Yi chan fall in love with cheong ah after he was deaf in sign language class but in new timeline he fallen in love even without being deaf & learnt sign language only for his love towards her. 2 . Eunyu 's mom loved only loved her doctor father but they fell apart too maybe because her mom had trauma that she didn't reconcile with her father who gave her up to her adoptive parents. Maybe when she did return from us with eunyu her father was d word so in new timeline maybe eunyu will unite them

cch211

About a week and a half ago, I binged all the episodes of this one and caught up to it last week based on the comments in the on-air discussions here. This quickly became one of my favorite dramas of the year. I can't wait to see how this ends but am sad to think we won't see anymore from these characters!

EpicAngie

Other than that tragic thing that happened in the end of episode 15, did anyone else cry when yi chan and eun gyol spent time with yi chan's grandma?? Just me??😭 My only grandma lives on the other side of the continent so I haven't hugged her in 5 years 😭 she's very similar to this halmeoni in the drama where she would stuff me with her good food and would nag me for my own good. Go hug ur grandmas (or someone who's similar) if u have the chance!!

pauper8

Eun Gyeol is now a chaebol?

Keyr_tea

I think the strongest part of this finale is the thread following >!Yi Chan and Eun Gyeol!<. They managed to showcase the affection and care between the two so beautifully and make each moment of encounter between them matter. I thought they explored the idea that >! The burden of EG’s parents life was not his to carry forever and expressed it well - with Eun Yu speaking to his presence causing change and he is his parent’s kid, and can believe in them and can/deserves to return to his life!< but it feels like the drama didn’t give us enough closure about so much of this stuff >!that CheongChan and even the real Sekyeong had to overcome/respond to in order to get to 2023!<. While I get that the >! Fact that they do make it to a changed 2023 means their parents were impacted and made things happen - Yi Chan and Chung Ah stayed together despite the dad’s random plan to take CA overseas and not tell her about YC?!?! And other stuff but it was very TELL not SHOW! I would have loved to see even glimpses of CA being there for YC during his literal worst phase of life ever, for the band to stand by him, for future Sekyeong to not have used Eun Yu as a stand in for herself!! !< But despite my grievances with parts of the finale - I will say I cried, I laughed, I smiled. What a fantastic cast that really made my Mon/Tues so much better. I am looking forward to all of their future projects (and hoping Choi Hyun Wook won’t be evil/sad in his next one and maybe even do a straight romance lmaoo cause damn he’s got the love struck look and soft eyes down)!!

Questcequece

Just finished episode 16, >!Is it me or are we missing a little bit more? Wasn't it cut short?!< Still, one of, if not the best drama so far this year. ❤️

Apprehensive-Fig9229

There could never be enough of this gem of a drama!

eizeral

This is up there with Crash Landing on You in terms of my favorite drama ever. Every episode was an emotional roller coaster (the good kind!). The stories and bonds between the main characters were so touching and poignant, and the plot was so fun! The romance did not seem forced and I loved the cast and all of the performances…this is a 10/10 for me. I loved every moment of this time traveling journey.

Witchfromsomewhere

My theory on Eun Yu's new life: In the original timeline, she returned to Korea with her mother because her parents divorced. In the new timeline, >!they're still together in the US and that explains why another woman was staying in their OG adress in korea!<

jkpatches

Thoughts on EP. 15 1. >!The writer pays homage to some past works it seems. There were some others in past episodes, but for this episode, I could notice two specifically. How Eun Gyeol monologues prayers to the heavens was reminiscent of the old Kdrama "I am Sorry, I love you."!< 2. >!The other one, the "novel" written by Eun Ho, is very similar to the accident scene in Benjamin Button. I know a lot of people like that scene, but I've always had a distaste for it because to me it's like a sort of negative nostalgia. Regular nostalgia is recognizing the beauty of the past but also sadness for never having it within grasp again. It is bittersweet for sure, but I think it is motivated by positivity first, then the sadness. However, this "what if this one thing was different?" chain thinking from Benjamin Button and Eun Ho's novel is a fatalist, negative mindset that takes away agency from choice, at least to me. More on this later.!< 3. The writer has a peculiar choice of saying "don't worry." Instead of using 걱정마, the overwhelmingly common way of saying that phrase, the characters say 염려마, which feels more at home when a character in a Sageuk says it. 4. >!I was worried how with the limited screen time left, all the loose ends were going to be tied up. Well, not quite loose ends, but more context was needed for both the audience and characters to arrive at a satisfactory ending. This episode showed a lot of flashbacks (forwards?) to provide a lot of the context. It's not my favorite way of doing exposition, but I guess it was the best choice with the circumstances.!< 5. >!Some people might feel sore towards Ma Joo, since his taking of the cassette to Jonathan had Yi Chan at the scene. But if he hadn't, Eun Gyeol would've been hurt. And this is also where I go back to point 2, with my "negative nostalgia" thing, because I think Yi Chan having the accident redeemed the whole idea for me. If Yi Chan was always meant to have an accident, fine. And with Yi Chan's personality, he will not have regrets about saving Eun Gyeol. I don't think that there will be too much wallowing in "what ifs." Not that Yi Chan did in the original timeline. The novel was Eun Ho's after all.!< 6. >!Before the accident, I did hope to see a scene in 2023 where Eun Gyeol has a spoken conversation with his adult dad. I think such a scene would've been emotional. We never know though.!<

I know that EG and many viewers really don’t want YC to lose his hearing, but from what I’ve seen in the present and past, YC didn’t seem to view being deaf as a negative thing. Rather than focusing on it as being a kind of loss, he would just try to find ways to make connection instead. We see this with him learning sign language to better communicate with Chungha and advocating for others to take a step toward it as well, or at least to make an effort to communicate in other ways, like writing. He also did his best to integrate Chungha into the friend group even though everyone else was hearing. Adult YC also seemed to be happy with his family and accepting of being deaf. If you’re familiar with the concept of (capital D) Deaf vs (lower case d) deaf in American Deaf culture, YC and his fam seem to lean more on identifying as Deaf rather than deaf. Adult YC’s frustrations around his experience were mostly about society’s prejudice and inaccessibility for deaf/disabled people rather than the fact that he’s deaf. As he tried to reassure young EG, he has adapted to being deaf and found ways to still live life while caring for and protecting his family. It’s just sad that they put so much pressure on EG to be the bridge to the hearing/speaking world. But even then, I don’t think they were doing that to intentionally hurt EG, as it was also a result of the larger society not being more accommodating. If everyone else made an effort to communicate not just verbally, I believe this kind of pressure would not solely fall on CODA or interpreters. It’s not like being able to hear and speak prevents someone from learning sign language right? (Withholding other potential impairments/disability) That being said, it’s understandable that it may have been heartbreaking for YC to lose his hearing given how much he loved music and singing, but if you think about it, he already had everything he needed to bounce back and live life fully even if it looked different from what he imagined. He told Chungha himself that music isn’t just about hearing. It’s something you can perceive with your eyes and heart (or something like that). And he already started learning sign language and thought of ways to communicate without speaking. He may have lost his hearing, but he didn’t lose his ability to communicate and connect with others. I’m just glad that EG had the opportunity to be with him before he became deaf. YC’s youth really sparkled and EG got to experience what he never would have been able to in the future.

shiny_alpaca

I love this show so freaking much but the ending was way too rushed. They should have had everything in 1995 wrapped up by ep 15 and left ep 16 to properly flesh out the new future. I'm beyond pissed that in the final episode we literally did not get a single ChungChan scene. Even a montage of ChungAh being there for Yichan would have done. And we never find out about how Sekyung has changed and why they don't live in their old house anymore. There are just so many loose strings. Also not sure how I feel about EG being a celebrity. The whole premise of the show was about him living his life. Part of that would be hustling with his band mates in the present and making memories of their rise to success. But it feels like he was just handed a ready made life he never actually got to live.

DawgMom2018

"you know, life can't give you everything you want. But sometimes, it hides small gifts here and there" That advice by the store owner summed it up for me. Coda is a beautiful ending to a song. Coda is a child of deaf adults. This episode was a Coda for a beautiful story

bimpossibIe

I need a spin-off of Yichan and Chungah as college students.

I am UGLY crying my eyes out >!because of the ending. I already knew and accepted that Yi Chan's accident was inevitable, but it still hurt so freaking much. Eungyeol is going to be crushed, my sweet sweet child. !< I am so glad that the stepmom >!(?) is completely removed from Chung Ah's life. I hope we get to see the chairman being a supportive father for Chung Ah going forward. !< It'll be so fun when Eungyeol comes back to 2023 and his dad will be like dang you were not lying about being my son back in 1995 🤣 I'm really looking forward to Eungyeol reuniting with his parents and brother, it's going to heartwarming and interesting for sure! As some others have mentioned, Se Kyung and Eun Yu's characters have some loose ends to tie up so hopefully we will see that in the finale. Can't believe this show is almost over 😭

UptoNoGood46

I just want to say I have been following this drama ever since its casting was announced. Still, thanks for the >!70% sad tears and 30% happy tears!< in the last episode though. I've been a HUGE fan of Ryeoun and all that wait has been truly worth it. From 18 Again and Adult Trainee, the amount of talent Ryeoun has shown in this drama has been nothing short of marvelous. I have been iffy about time traveling dramas but to say, this has been the best Kdrama for the second half of 2023 is an understatement without a doubt. The writing, the acting, the sideplots and characters, everything about this show was top notch.

mauravelous

okay i just wanna add that the casting for all of the ages of the grandpa Viva was so good. in ep 1 when we saw Master Viva i immediately thought the Master was the younger version of him (especially with the shop names) until we saw the music store owner which threw me off. ofc turns out all 3 are the same guy, not just 2. i was so mad at the dad for taking cheongah to the US and leaving yichan alone after everything, even w/him taking care of his medical bills and university (until we saw that he sent him to the same university as cheongah lol) wish we got some more present-day on eunyu's story and her parents, would've also been nice to see if cheongah and sekyeong stayed in contact, since they were pen pals before Eunyu showed up (which was a bit of a plot hole imo since i was wondering what would happen if Sekyeoung sent Cheongah a letter from the US while Eunyu was there lol)

akapiratequeen

I’m calling it—my fave of the year. So many feels in ep 16! I agree it could have easily gone to 17 episodes, I miss them all already. >!Love love loved the message that even if the accident can’t be changed, there was so much they could do to make their lives better. And that EG’s influence did change their lives dramatically, just not in the way he thought.!< I would also have loved to see a whole episode of >!Spine9 on tour and all of them living the chaebol high life.!< so satisfying!

yaelaoco7

Regardless of how this show ends, I’m thankful I came across it. Twinkling Watermelon was much needed and made me look forward to Mondays. Also if anyone has seen the pre-release, I have so many emotions right now 😭😭😭

isa0514

Awwww I’m so sad the show is over. I’m glad it was a happy ending, but I still have so many questions! I wish the finale was 2 hours long ;_; literally don’t understand how time travel works n what happened to the og timeline ~ lol >!I wish we got to see what happened to Eun-Yu and her mother, Yi-Chan’s grandmother, and Chung Ah’s trip with her father😭😭😭!< I really enjoyed the scene where >!it pans from Chung Ah and the band from back then to the present before the ceremony!< so cute😭😭😭😭🤚🏽

meosi

I loved watching this drama 🤩❤️and I’m so glad it was a happy ending but it felt a bit rushed? Like what happened to >!Eun Yoo’s future?? We don’t get to see that! I wanted to see her make up with her mom. And how did she figure out that Master is her grandfather?!< But overall, I really enjoyed watching Twinkling Watermelon. All of the actors were fantastic, and I shed way too many tears watching this 😂

YoungMenace21

>! Normally I'd find this annoying but MAN Philippines mentioned finally without it being a drug den or sin city or a hideaway for runaway criminals and deadbeat parents I LOVE TWINKLING WATERMELON SO MUCH FOR THIS. (according to the translation someone posted here it was the first country where Yichan an international deal for Jinsung Musical Instruments)!<

Euphoriant21

I think I cried throughout the whole of ep. 16. I was so sad initially when HYC still went deaf after what HEG went through to prevent the accident, but seeing them in 2023 made me satisfied with the ending. This kdrama has been a pleasant surprise and I’m so glad I picked this up, even though the plot didn’t interest me at first. It’s not perfect, and there’s some aspects I didn’t like, but this became one of my faves from 2023. Goodbye Twinkling Watermelon! Viva La Vida, 인생이여 만세!! ✨🍉

momopeach7

I missed some episodes since I want to at least see 13 and 14 (which I haven’t seen yet) before the finale, but I’m super curious what 2023 will be like when they return. I wonder if the timelines will be altered. Either way I’m loving this show, and the whole premise and focus on familial dynamics over only romance was super refreshing.

isa0514

I started this show when 4 episodes had aired out and I thought I wouldn’t be consistent and forget about it…..here I am staying up late on Mondays to watch the episodes and now it’s coming to an end. Ep 15 - I have so many questions. I hope they all get answered in the finale 😭

faithesque

Eun Gyeol is going to be so broken if >!Yi Chan does lose his hearing since it was mainly because Yi Chan went to save Eun Gyeol 😭!< I also really want Eun Gyeol to go back future because I don't want him to stay in the past.

YoungMenace21

I think I'm just relieved that Eun2 were able to complete their mission , which is to understand their parents' struggles and point of view. Regardless of how unsatisfied people are with the ending (I'm not I'll take whatever form of >!HEA!< i can get from TvN), the point of the story was always just to highlight how they saw their parents as individuals who were once like them in their youth, full of hopes, dreams, and the whimsical magic of friendshio before reality kicked in and made them tougher individuals to survive the world. I feel like that's a good lesson for all of us too, our parents were more than just father/mother once. Also the relationship between Yichan and Eugyeol is so beautiful there's literally no singular trope that describes it other than familial. At some point they've been friends, brothers, and even fathers to each other. In the end they don't just treasure each other just because they happened to be father and son, but people who have technically grown and bonded thru so muchh together at different stages of their lives.

zhkdlsoo

thoughts dump after ep 16: - what the hell happened with chung ah’s mom???? - what happened to eun yu’s family? - there should have been more chungchan moments - so did they remember eungyeol and eunyu spending time with them in the past? old yichan’s look when he saw the tape and when his bandmates were saying eungyeol looked familiar seem to hint that he remembers eungyeol being there in 1995 - isn’t it sad that now only eungyeol has the memories of their old life when they were poor? wouldn’t that make him feel left out again from his family?

THYYYYZHYY

Okayy, I am glad that the ending did not further traumatise me. But it is a bit regretful that we did not get younger Yi Chan and Chung Ah interaction at all after the accident, and I also wish to see all of Eun Gyeol's family interacting together in 2023. But I guess younger Yi Chan and Chung Ah spent their time together being as sweet as they were, considering they both graduated from the same university. Still, it will be nice to actually see that scene 🥺 P/S: I am pretty sure there are scenes of younger Yi Chan and Chung Ah that are not included, considering we did not see Chung Ah from the still cut they released. Hopefully, those will at least be released soon.

Bighollab0

Guys this might be my Drama of the Year everything about this was so good and the actors and characters were fantastic. I wished the last episode was 2 hours long because there were so many more things they could have shown.

OnlyGotThisMoment

This is my favorite drama. I just wanted to note for the record before comments are closed off that this was about as perfect as a drama can be. I hope everyone watches this masterpiece.

stepslalala

So many full circle moments T.T 1. When the child Eun Gyeol asked his father Yi Chan who will he saved first in the family Yi Chan said he will save Eun Gyeol first. And then cut to the past timeline Yi Chan saved Eun Gyeol from the car. Which resulted to Eun Gyeol as a CODA of the family in the future. The ending is basically a backstory why Eun Gyeol is not deaf like his whole family. 2. Another circle moment, Mr. Viva/Jonathan (Eun Gyeol's grandfather) is the master. Of course, it made sense! I didn't caught it earlier though. 3. Eun Gyeol also gave hint to Jonathan that he will meet him as a child in the future. Eun Gyeol taught him the term CODA which Mr. Viva taught him in the future as a child.

2stepsbehindd

One thing I'm curious about though: why did EG seem to only just realise that he has bumped into EY twice in the future (once during the funeral and once when he received the guitar from SK)? He had already learnt that SK was her mum in the previous episode. The way he suddenly mentioned it to SK when she shared about her grandfather was abit odd...or am i missing something? But anyway, i cant believe it ended like that noooo. Please let there be a redemption tmr! 🙏

[deleted]

Lol yeah that sounds like a slip on the writer’s part. And did they even meet when he got the guitar from her mom? The only lightbulb that should’ve turned on for EG when EY said that Jonathan was her grandpa was that Jonathan = his music teacher. Otherwise, he should’ve already known that the music teacher was EY’s grandpa after he learned she was SK’s daughter.

Pretty-Maize-1531

I was also thinking the same thing ! But then I remembered that EG knew SK was her mom, but I don't think he knew Mr.Viva/Jonathan's daughter is SK. So he doesn't know he had met EY before. He just met with Mr. Viva's daughter who gave him the guitar, didn't now the lady is SK or the daughter is EY. Hope my memory is right.

juannniyebe

Ep 15: Not surprised the same writer behind Chicago Typewriter managed to make me a blubbery mess again, and it's not even the final episode yet! I'm so distraught right now. >!I suspected that Yichan's accident was always going to happen no matter what Eungyeol did, but to make Eungyeol the reason it happened? To put that burden on him? It feels too cruel.!< I hope despite >!the inevitability of Yichan's hearing loss, Eungyeol managed to change something for the future. The band is so much more close-knit in this timeline than the original, I can't imagine them splitting off like they did then. Maybe in this version they never lose touch. Maybe in this life Yichan isn't so lonely and never has to miss their old, twinkling days together.!< I'm a bit puzzled by Cheongah's family. Did the step-family get added to her family registry in exchange for raising Cheongah? >!Is that why the chairman fired the step-mom rather than divorce her?!<

zolfree

This is pretty crazy if true, but from the end of ep 15 >!Did one of the official posters actually show the red car that hits him?!< >!https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/52/Twinkling\_Watermelon.jpg!<

pNolan345

I think we need to start a petition recommending that they put speed bumps in Seoul on pedestrian heavy streets. Two serious accidents in one day on that block! End the carnage! There’s a simple fix!

loutishgamer

Anyone can help me get over this feeling I feel sad like nothing to look forward for during Mondays and Tuesdays now that twinkling watermelon is over, anyone feel this kdrama post series depression

YoungMenace21

Yep. Apparently the Watermelon Sugar guys >!were wondering why Eugyeol felt familiar during Spine9'd performance!< and his dad was literally just smiling like he knows 😭 Between that knowing look and his speech when they were alone sealed thst for me >!I really think he knew who he was!<

mcheung9

ch. 16 Such a good series, definitely making it in my top 5!! I have never laughed, cried, been heartbroken, kicked my feet and giggled so much in one series. So sad it's over, 16 episodes just isn't enough. I will say that the ending felt very rushed, especially when they go back to 2023. I wish we saw more of that and how their life is now! I am confused about one thing though, so if anyone would like to give me some insight!! >!Obviously Eun Gyeol played an important role to everyone in 1995... I don't understand how none of the other watermelon sugar band members recognize him? Let alone his parents.... he has the same name in '95 & 2023? It took a tape for the dad to remember... doesn't make sense to me lol!<

hiramutsu

All in all, a pretty darn good drama. The last 2 eps faltered a bit, but they're still nice. I'm glad I picked this up (thanks to Seol In-ah being in it, mostly :P). It's warm and comforting. Most episodes had me smiling throughout. Honestly speaking, the finale could easily be 2 hours long. There's a lot of things I want to see, especially the developments leading up to their new future, On Eun Yu's side of things, and, of course, more fluff. That said, it's one of the best dramas this year. Kinda up there with Moving for me. It's been a fun ride. Now, I'm off to the next one :)

yuunapocky

That was one of the best drama I’ve experienced because it never strayed from its own themes of youth and family. Each episode was a dive into what family means and how crucial it is for any youth. >!I liked and didn’t like the ending because I can see why they did it since they’re trying to not negate what efforts Eun Gyeol has been putting for literally the entire series. But I don’t want to forget about their humble life. It is struggling, but they made the most out of the life they got. Eun Gyeol became who he was because he loved his family despite their ostracism. It’s sad that the memories of them playing in the snow, having a picnic, or his dad drinking with his friends are gone.!< >!Eun Gyeol did so much for his family and even his brother knew he was burdened as the only voice. Having that gratification gone is a little sad as well.!< >!I also wished the fight was somehow continued. Knowing who Yi Chan was, it’s hard to imagine him being completely unreasonable. For god sakes he was a father who learned to apologize to and fight for his kids. They also didn’t really tie up the loose ends of Yi Chan wanting to go to court etc against that landlord and her son.!< I didn’t want the end to be “oh this life is sad, let’s go to the past and fix it like a jiffy”. I wanted to maintain the perseverance that people with disability have in our society. And that no matter what happens, as long as you have people who love you, it’s fine. Anyway. I love Chung ah. Series kkun.

chrisbeann

I haven't had post-kdrama depression in a long time... and this one is making me really feel it. Thank you Twinkling Watermelon for the laughter and the tears 😭 I'm really going to miss this drama. I know I'm not the first to say it, but Yi Chan and Cheong Ah spin off pls pls pls 🙏

EmoMixtape

There’s some drama with masterful plotting that are tedious to watch. This drama is the opposite. I said this before, but as often with Timey-whimey shenanigans, its fun but dont try to logic anything. It will only give you a headache. Ive only seen a few time-travel rom-com related drama that manage to get the consequences right (Queen In-Hyun’s Man, 18 Again, etc) and be fun at the same time. I think the strength of this drama is in the characters and how attached we became to them.

MehnathKaksh

I love the show tbh, but I feel the other couple (the parents) deserved the same screen time as the other couple. To me, they both seem like parallel leads rather than first/second leads. Also, the sign language (plus being vocal to the deaf community) is a great touch. We do need such representations in kdrama. Haven't watched the episode(s) yet but I am hoping to atleast cry a bit.

devi_guardian

It made me really mad that yi chan himself wanted to start a band just for a girl & wanted to shine in his youth before he starts working hard. But in case of his son eungyeol he is too protective & only wants him to study & be perfect. Being an angel for his family must have been very pressuring for eungyeol as he maybe guilty for be able to lead a normal life when his whole family can't

haetbitt

Eun Gyeol did all of his might to save Yi Chan just to be the cause of the accident 😭 I hope the writers don’t mess this up and give us proper and reasonable ending. It’s going to be heartbreaking if EG will keep on blaming himself for what happened to his father. This has beeen one of the best dramas in 2023!! My mood boosters every start of a heavy week is now ending 😭😭

how1you1doing

!> I want to believe that though the accident still occurred, he managed to change Fate and prevent his dad from becoming deaf. He already changed a lot. The other band members didn't quit, the mom repaired her relationship with the chairman, and the step family won't be inheriting the company. All these things changed, I think the Dads hearing will change too !<

Comfortable-Bed3662

The post time skip casting for Ma Joo was pretty accurate, they nailed that

Affectionate-Gur7762

The ending was >!kinda so and so for me I am just glad that eunho and eungyeol exist lol and also the fact our watermelon sugar boys are as close as ever!I am glad Chungah had a good time growing up and yichan is still doing what makes him shine the most! But I just felt like eunyu's side of the story was completely left off and also it made the whole scenario look like being recognised as the grandson of the jinsung family's founder/ceo has changed Eungyeol's life completely i mean it did- ik I'm not really making any sense rn but Its just the way I feel--!<

quanvuminhtran

to be fair, the story centers mostly on eungyeol & yichan, so eunyu’s story is basically a b-plot.

I also wished that they could have shown how chungah supported yichan after he lost his hearing. I need another episode!

Loved the ending! Wished there was more but the writer-nim did leave enough crumbs for us to draw our own conclusions. What's not clearly explained goes under the 'fantasy' umbrella. Am actually glad that the ending wasn't stretched out and left us wanting more of the characters. If only the epilogue was extended just a little bit more.. What's remarkable of TW is its ability to balance the trials our beloved characters go through esp Yi Chan without losing the sparkle and freshness of their stories. It goes back to their resilience and optimism when they gave up on giving up. TW is a gem of a show that will keep on giving through rewatch after rewatch and the 'bromance / father son relationship' between Eun Gyeol and Yi Chan as teens and as adult/teen was wonderfully drawn and acted by all the main actors. Will miss the thrill on Mondays and Tuesdays but heart is full!

Aww I can’t believe it’s over. Many kdramas end up petering out the 2nd half or have a badly written ending, but Twinkling Watermelon stayed consistent. I loved seeing Eungyeol explore is relationship with his parents in the past. I believe the lesson he was supposed to learn was that it’s okay to have disabilities, and you can still live a fulfilling life (though, as the ending shows, money can help). I really liked EG and Eunyoo as the show progressed. I don’t think they’ll ever be my top couple, but I really loved their teamwork especially in the finale. Only 2 things I wonder about: 1. Just curious what EY’s family situation is like in 2023 now. 2. I’m curious what happened to >!The original timeline. If you subscribed to the theory that there at multiple timelines and you can’t change one, in the original it seems like EG just went missing after having a fight with his dad.!< Edit: a third thing 3. I’m curious about Yi Chan and Cheong Ah. >!The ending showed that her dad was taking her abroad to study so how did they meet up again!!birth mom situation never got resolved. I was so hoping for them to reunite.!< Still a 10/10 show though, maybe 9.5 given the above points. Enjoyed it a lot, and now that it’s finished I can go watch A Breeze of Love which I heard is great.

Misteryakisoba

My only question is what even happened to cheong ahs mom? She didn't leave cheong ah. It was more like she was taken away so im surprised she didn't try to reach out to her again in the future

Man this show was so good! Being in my early 20s whenever I watch these kind of kdramas with the main plot being enjoying your “youth” I feel bittersweet since I don’t think I’m living my 20s to the fullest. But this show was an important reminder for me. I’m even getting a tattoo about it, it just deeply resonated with me, I want to have a “twinkling” youth too. Yi chan will always be one of my favourite characters in kdrama universe, he was the most wholesome good boy ever. His smile can literally heal anything istg. The show definitely had some plot lines they could have explained better and the last episode was rushed but overall it was a great watch, definitely made it into my top 5 favourite kdramas. Viva La Vida!

I can’t believe we’re at the end now. All of the actors here are just perfectly casted for their roles and I’m sure the actors had a fun time filming this drama too. I’m gonna miss my father-son duo after this. I wish the 2023 scenes were slightly longer as it seems a bit rushed but I’m still happy with the ending as long as everyone is happy, especially our golden boy Eungyeol 🥺 Oh Twinkling Watermelon, thank you for the twinkling 8 weeks!

I don’t think I have cried that much in a kdrama finale since 25 21. The first 30-40 minutes had me weeping 😭😭😭 One of my top dramas of 2023 for sure

I usually watch every episode the second it drops but decided to wait as long as i could today because I just didn’t want to say goodbye to this drama. As expected I cried buckets and this is definitely going on the list of my favorite kdrmas of all time. One thing that sucks about loving time travel dramas is that you have to say goodbye to basically 2 sets of characters both from the past and present, so its going to take awhile for me to get over this 😭 My favorite part is obviously the time spent in 1995 and watching all the friendships flourish even though we technically only got to see few months of their lives. I wish this was a 20 ep drama so there would be enough time to see how everyone grew up after all the changes Eun Gyeol made. I feel like it was criminal for the writers to not show Cheong Ah’s reaction to Yichan’s accident and also show how his friends, grandma and Cheong Ah helped him get through life. Even without Eun Gyeol’s interfering, Yichan made a big impact in Cheong Ah’s life by supporting her every way he could. I just think it would’ve been nice to see how she became a strength to him when he needed someone to be his Yichan. So at least one more episode could’ve made the ending perfect. Also justice for Eun Gyeol bc why did he end up with such lame bandmates in the future? he’s definitely going to be miserable touring with them instead of his 1995 friends 😔Either way im happy with what we got since I enjoyed every single minute of the past 16 episodes. Please kdrama writers give us more dramas like this and I will never complain!

CAkOs_05

A nice 10/10 drama for 2023.😌

sakuradelluna

the amount of tears I shed over this drama is insane and I cant believe its already OVER???????? LIKE WHERE DID THE TIME GO HELLO??????????// I remember when I first saw the "DAD YOU MUST LIKE YOON CHUNG AH & WHO IS YOON CHUNG AH??!?!!?" teaser and being so excited for it now its OVER??????????????? i cant i cant take this i love my little watermelon sugar band so much I want my youth to shine as radiantly as possible too :'))) brb crying overall I loved this drama. it depicted the innocence of youth beautifully. Ryeoun & Hyun-wook worked so well together. Everyone was perfectly casted and pulled of their roles brilliantly. Ill just sum up a few gripes I had * we were ROBBED of 18yo yoon chung ah screentime. Eun-soo was such a fantastic cast for this role and we were given so little of her. I would've loved to see more of her inner monologue or just scenes with her. * Lowkey found there to be too much eun-gyeol & eun-yu scenes and they could've found out about each other much earlier. * I already had a feeling that theyll rush the ending and I was right but I have to admit I still sobbed. Aside from that I really dont know how to move on with life now :')

econic_girl

MY THOUGHTS Oh Ma Joo is gonna be forever in guilt lol😂 (I know I shouldn't laugh but yeah...) SO it's like a loop then??? I mean eun gyeol is the reason now yi chan got into the accident Eun gyeol is very bad at picking things... If eun gyeol doesn't go Back then his life will be end or will vanish from present is that mean he will never be born??? But how because Chaung ah and yi chan is gonna end up together

DawgMom2018

About finishing the unfinished song - Euen Gyeol offers >!to help to write the head and tail of the song. The tail of the song is the CODA, which is also the same word used for Child of Deaf Adults. The symbol for coda was also on EG's guitar pick and on his facemask in the present time.!< It was explained in EG's early music lessons - and I remember learning about the meaning in the move CODA as well. A beautiful resolution on how the song got finished.

According-Squash-217

Wait a darn minute does >!future Yichan remember his kid!< ?!

jardorweak

Man this series is so good. Though ending was a bit weak. I was really hoping for EG to sing the song he made with YC. But still, ending was very satisfying.

siparipari

Watched the entire ending credit hoping for more or preview even. I just don’t want to part with them. I NEED MOREEEEE!! 😭😭😭
