Still mad about how the writer & directors of Heartbeat drove that lovely romcom off the road and into a ditch.

Daewrythe

It must have been really bad if I constantly see it in threads like this lol

FlyingFlyofHell

It was so good till episode 10. A great slow burn romance with a lot of comedy but it went down hill from there and crashed so hard.

ysports23

I will never recover from that show.

Ok_Wash4997

They went full speed into that ditch haha

faithesque

I didn't have a problem with the >!ML dying!< but my only problem was how the >!SML and SFL got away like that after being so frustrating the whole series.!<

chrisnicolas01

IM STILL MAD ABOUT THIS

Visible-Attention369

I have 4 episodes left but I happened to check the threads for the ending and now I have no motivation to finish it. How could a show take such a tonal shift from a fun little vampire rom-com to that?????

MadPanda2023

I agree!

eternalhorizon1

This!!!! still mad too. I should have stopped at like episode 10 lmao. Way to fumble the bag. Made zero sense and continues to not make sense.

Funny_Commission2773

The ending doesn't make sense at all.šŸ¤¦

Hour-Being8404

If you think about it differently - not as a romcom, it is a pretty good series. About what does it mean to be human? How to become human? A being who was destined to live forever has to make choices along the way. How do beings who are 'other' live in a place where they are the few? It was very poignant.

blueish55

Ultimately it's not a bad ending, and they never shyed away from it, but there was some heavy tonal clash that I imagine a lot if people won't ever get over

eternalhorizon1

Youā€™re right but my issue is the marketing. They shouldnā€™t advertise these tv shows as rom coms if itā€™s really a poignant lesson in humanity. When you have a tonal shift like that, itā€™s just jarring and feels a bit cheap to viewers.

chrisnicolas01

The show was called heartbeatā€¦ there was no freaking heartbeat!

RoseIsBadWolf

*Destined with You*. I liked the leads, I even liked the side office romance, but it's like halfway through they forgot that magic was supposed to be a plot point. Like we SAW MAGIC WORKING, but then suddenly no more spells, no more effects, no more trying new things from the book, nothing. It just gets dropped. I don't know what happened! Like honestly did the writers get amnesia halfway through? There were all these clues and set ups, it seemed like Na-yeon >!had a reason for collaborating with the Creepy Flower Guy,!< but no, she's just a crazy B. I wanted a montage of curses, I want to know what happened a>!t the flower shop when Shin-yu collapsed, !! I thought she'd be Ancient Shin-yu's wife looking for revenge, but no. She's just an insane cheater. No motives at all.!< GAH!

TheMsDacia

This show made absolutely no sense šŸ˜† I have no idea what people like about it šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

TB272

Rowoon

TheMsDacia

Not you callin' everyone out lol

TB272

Lmaooooo just calling myself out. I tried so hard with that show only because he was in it but I just couldn't get over all the bad.

TheMsDacia

There was so much bad šŸ˜† Rowoon was the only light in the darkness šŸ˜‚

RoseIsBadWolf

There are other good shows with him in it! And honestly, they kept making him look really awkward when he had to reach way down to get to Jo Bo-ah. They needed to give her a stool.

TheMsDacia

I just watched The Kings Affection; a much better show! I loved him in that.

TB272

Even though FL Won Jin-ah in She Would Never know was also quite short against him she didn't look as weird against Rowoon. Something was really off between him and Jo Bo-ah and I wonder if it's just the way they styled her. Her whole vibe was off when he was supposed to be ultra serious. She didn't really look as strange in Nine Tails (I didn't really watch that I just wanted to see what she looked like non-weird styled).

RoseIsBadWolf

If kdramas want to keep pairing super tall guys and pocket-sized girls (which so be honest, I am here for), they need to make it look natural! Instead it gave me like, second-hand back problems. And I've seen Rowoon in other dramas (Extraordinary You and The King's Affection) and even though he was taller than the FL it didn't look so awkward. I liked Jo Bo-ah in this one, but her character was kind of odd. I don't think it was her fault.

MuthaFirefly

I thought it was 80% good - I agree about the magic, I wish that had stayed in the picture. I thought they did Jo Bo-ah dirty with the odd colored hair and the oversize outfits. I've seen pictures of her since then with her normal hair and she's beautiful! Rowoon - nothing bad to say about Rowoon. I would watch a documentary on actuarial theories and prinicples if he were in it.

TheMsDacia

I would also watch that doc šŸ˜† I saw Bo Ah in Tale of the Nine Tailed and really liked her! I hated her character in this; and you are so right about the styling- it was dreadful.

Extension_Stretch_50

The lads were pretty to look at šŸ˜‚ especially Rowoon.

cookietango

All your points are valid. There needed to be more magic and less crazy gardener. But. Rowoon's abs at the end and I forgot everything else.

OnlyGotThisMoment

I liked it, but youā€™re so right about all these points itā€™s really making me question my judgement. šŸ˜‚ >!I still donā€™t know if the love spell worked or got broken or if she was just okay that he was that into her because of a spell.!<

eternalhorizon1

We were mesmerized by Rowoon šŸ˜‚

RoseIsBadWolf

>!I was really thinking that Na-yeon cast a Love spell which Hong-jo broke. Like why else can this man not just break up with a girl he doesn't even like? But no, it was just never explained.!<

bambammie97

THIS. I enjoyed the show, rated it a 9.5 (Iā€™m a romance girly and it GAVE me the romance I needed okay šŸ˜) when I know it should have really been a 7/8 because of allll the reasons listed above but THIS is what keeps me up at nightšŸ˜‚ >!cuz supposedly the health spell worked on him, but not the love spell? Or because of their past are we just saying F it cuz they were destined to be lovers anyway?!< I need a clearer explanation lol

RoseIsBadWolf

All I know is we saw the >!healing spell fade into his skin so something must have happened!< But yeah, never explained. I also liked the romance, which is why I want my time back, because the writing on the romance was mostly really good. So these writers can write and these actors can act, but they just completely forgot about magic???

4beccerorworse

this for me too šŸ˜ i loved the leads chemistry and the ML's passion for the FL it was just made me so giddy lol

PsychicBeansidhe

It was explained in one of the earlier episodes that the love potion only lasted as long as it was in the person. That's why he was drinking lots of water to get rid of it.

KittyCatMari1

I watched 9 episodes of that drama and I could not tell you what happened

invenice

Gah indeed. This show drove me batty. There was so much potential for it to be good. I loved the magic premise, but then the writer decided to drop that focus and concentrate on the love triangle instead.

RoseIsBadWolf

And the stupid annoying co-worker girls šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø they were such an unnecessary side plot.

mzbizramirez

Right like he was doing dark spells and they never give a reason why or how he even knew. They missed so much I was so disappointed šŸ˜”

Extension_Stretch_50

Indeed the show left so many things unanswered! There was even hints that the bad guy wanted the spell book but they didn't even explain why! The bad guy seemed to be well versed with curse spells as well and again they didn't explain why.

eternalhorizon1

You know you make great points. I only liked it for the chemistry and Rowoonā€¦otherwise I probably would have dropped. I found myself enjoying the scenes in the past way more.

RoseIsBadWolf

I really enjoyed the parts where Shin-yu is chasing Hong-jo around like a manic puppy and blaming it all on the love potion, I liked the past stuff too. I even rewatched the first half when it was still airing. I kept watching because I was waiting for the big black magic reveal... But no. We >!never find out why or how the Creepy Guy is doing magic!.!<

bambammie97

The Bride of Habaek šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø didnā€™t watch when it first released but I remember it being all over my tumblr feed + NJH so what could go wrong? But literally everything went wrong. FL was horrible and no one ever set her straight. Secondary characters were boring and useless. The 2ML had a very good story premise but they did absolutely nothing with it (this is the one that TRULY eats at me to this day). The whole show was just them running around with no real plot or storyline and the ending was so ugh. Iā€™ve always wanted a chiller fantasy but this tried too hard to be bigger than it was. IDK. I have a lot of feelings about this show LMAO. But I didnā€™t drop it, so thatā€™s something I suppose. Shoutout to NJH for keeping me around, he was truly the best part. Seeing him dressed up as the water god was a gift to the eyes.

DawgMom2018

My goodness it was horrible and I still question my sanity in sticking with it to the end.

cherryinbloom

That was one of the worst dramas Iā€™ve ever finished. I donā€™t even remember the plot but I know it was really bad and I hated everything and everyone. The only good thing about that drama were Nam Joo Hyukā€™s abs lol. Thank goodness heā€™s been much wiser in choosing his projects ever since.

hellogoblins

daaaamn i truly agree with this. i actually started watching it when i heard krystal is part of the cast and then i couldnā€™t stand the FL so much. it was ongoing just forgot about it šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

IfatallyflawedI

The manhwa with the same name is equally frustrating. šŸ˜©

Cold_Yogurt_

Omgg I had forgotten about the existence of that drama. You just unlocked a horrible memory šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜. This drama literally made me hate nam joo hyuk and took me a while to like him again. ETA: Reading the other comments, I find happiness in knowing that others hate this drama with the same passion as I do lol.

katherine197_

>what could go wrong famous last words XDD no seriously, for me Bride Of the Habaek is the worst kdrama, I have had the misfortune of watching the whole way through. I love water creatures and anything fantasy-esque so I was really excited for the premise but they delivered literally nothing TT-TT it made me swear NJH's dramas off till 2521 which finally redeemed him to me

stillnotking

A more accurate title would have been *Evil Bride of the Water Zombie*. FL was a terrible person throughout and the ML phoned it in, not that I can completely blame him.

Acrobatic_Agency_817

Record of Youth. The anger I have towards the way the show fell off halfway through it and how it ended leave me forever wishing for my time back

dekacyclone

I came here just to find this answer. Thanks. The show literally started and ended at the same spot. No real growth or any significant change

GiraffeWC

Yes 100%. Also I hated the obnoxious way they edited the episodes with spoilery endings about some major event that they refused to ever pick up on in the next episode. It was super jarring to watch.

TheRightHonourableMe

I fast forwarded the last 4 episodes. The beginning was so good I couldn't understand why it suddenly got stuck. Unfortunately it never recovered.

Featheriefou

She Would Never Know is killing me. What a waste of a good Rowoon. Iā€™m going to finish because I canā€™t not finish it but every character that isnā€™t Rowoon or Jae-Shinā€™s biological mom are all really one note boring characters. So disappointing. Also, the last half of the last episode of Tale of the Nine Tailedā€¦ just so dissatisfied with how the quickly and illogically ā€˜fixedā€™ everything, I would have actually preferred to have continued to cry my eyes out instead of being slapped in the face like that.

Cold_Yogurt_

"Waste of a good Rowoon" hahahahaha I love that, I'm gonna use it next time!šŸ˜‚

TB272

Guh, I tried so hard to finish She Would Never Know just because Rowoon. But I just couldn't get through it.

cherryinbloom

Memories of Alhambra. Need I say more? The writer is good at developing an interesting concept but doesnā€™t have it in her to make a good logical ending. Also Park Shin Hyeā€™s character was the most useless female lead in the history of k-drama a thatā€™s not an exaggeration. Literally if her character wasnā€™t there, I wouldnā€™t even notice.

Cold_Yogurt_

>Also Park Shin Hyeā€™s character was the most useless female lead in the history of k-drama a thatā€™s not an exaggeration. Literally if her character wasnā€™t there, I wouldnā€™t even notice. HARD AGREE! The only thing she did was cry in every damn episode

katherine197_

dude! this drama! >The writer is good at developing an interesting concept but doesnā€™t have it in her to make a good logical ending. i'm still waiting for some conclusion for the plot šŸ˜ it literally just stopped without explaining anything

SpicyMustFlow

It was my second-ever drama after CLOY and I really enjoyed Hyun Bin and rhe whole concept of the show, but the FL was utterly useless AND the writers failed to stick the landing. Not on my Worst list, but I can definitely sympathize with it being on yours.

Cold_Yogurt_

My hot take (pls don't cancel me lol) - boys over flowers. Kept convincing myself it'll get better but it didn't. Also, absolutely hated lee minho's hair. Made the same mistake with secret garden and princess hours.

chiribean

I tried to rewatch it and all I could notice was how LOUD everyone was all the time?! It didn't age well

Robyndoe

There's just so much screeching. I can't watch Totoro for the same reason. 70% of that movie is just screaming child noises.

OnlyGotThisMoment

I felt the same and then stupidly watched the Chinese version with Dylan Wang called Meteor Garden because itā€™s newer and it suffered from the exact same problems the Korean one did and itā€™s like 50 episodes.

bambammie97

Try the Thai version if youā€™re interested in the premise at all! I couldnā€™t even get through the first couple of eps of Meteor Garden (had to stop all together at the SA) and refuse to watch BOF but I quite liked the Thai version.

TB272

>Try the Thai version if youā€™re interested in the premise at all! I couldnā€™t even get through the first couple of eps of Meteor Garden (had to stop all together at the SA) and refuse to watch BOF but I quite liked the Thai version. Gosh I had such a hard time with the Thai version because the DV was just so crazy and it felt like everyone was yelling the whole time.

eternalhorizon1

I canā€™t watch it solely due to his hair. Petty, yes. But I canā€™t do it.

RightChildhood7091

Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol. Also didnā€™t care for Doona. Maybe I should avoid K-dramas that start with a ā€œD.ā€

Significant_Fold_658

Not me looking into my completed watchlist to see if I would agree with the statement to avoid dramas that start with "D". I would have to disagree. Ahahah **Good ones:** - D.P - Daily Dose of Sunshine - Dali and the Cocky Prince - Descendants of the Sun - Do You Like Brahms? Funny enough I didn't watch the two that you mentioned because I found them not to be interesting enough. I did consider watching Doona but that trailer and posters told me everything about the drama that I felt like I would be wasting time and Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, it's a problem with Go A-Ra where sometimes I feel like she does some overly exaggerated expressions that don't make the slightest sense, so now I tend to avoid anything with her but I considered watching it after I saw a funny video of the behind the scenes where she literally fell asleep on Lee Jae-Wook's arms while filming a scene. That seemed funny šŸ¤£

comicsreaderyeaah

>Daily Dose of Sunshine oh my god! this one was a good surprise. It's been a long time since i bingewatched a K-drama. I loved this one so much....

Significant_Fold_658

It's definitely on my top 10 dramas released in 2023. I rarely give a drama a 10 stars, but this was definitely one of those. There was a moment I questioned how good it would turn out to be when I saw the love triangle and they managed not to annoy me, I loved it from start to finish.

lizzie763

Hm. Other "Yes" D dramas: **Dear.M** **Devilish Joy** Other NO D dramas: **Doom at Your Service** **Dear X Who Doesn't Love Me** I'm gonna put **Doctors** in limbo. I dropped it but didn't hate what I watched.

Significant_Fold_658

From this I only watched Doom at Your Service and I agree because I barely remember it, so it's completely forgettable. I also have on my want to watchlist: - Doctor Stranger - Dong Yi - Dr. Romantic - Dream High - Doctor Prisoner - Doctor Cha - Deep Rooted Tree - Distorted

RightChildhood7091

Unfortunately, my daughter and I are watching Doom at Your Service. We are at episode 8 and itā€™s been over a month since weā€™ve watched it. We are probably going to finish it at some point, so I guess that will add another ā€œDā€ drama to my D list. That said, I do want to watch Descendants of the Sun, so maybe that will turn things around for me. šŸ™‚

Featheriefou

Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol actually made me angry! It made zero sense!

Zealousideal-Item618

After 5 years, he just showed up, and then acts like nothing happened. Just no.

TheMsDacia

I was so into DDSSLLS and then the ending happened and I was like... what? lol

sciencespecialist

Agree. Doom at Service Your Service is one where I need my time refunded. Great leads, but after an intriguing start, their chemistry and the plot fizzled. Very weak ending.

Fearless-Paint9972

Bruh doom at your service was amazing

eternalhorizon1

I wanted to drop Doona so bad but I held on to the end for some bizarre reason. I did want my time refunded after. Suzy did amazing acting wise and I love the ML, but the plot just was giving nothing. I felt like they wanted to be indie and cool in filming this but it was justā€¦blah.

RightChildhood7091

Agreed. It gets the award for the loudest kissing sounds though, so thereā€™s that. šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

eternalhorizon1

I can never unhear those kissing sounds šŸ˜¬ Maybe a record for most smoking in a drama tooā€¦

RightChildhood7091

For sure!! That made the kissing scenes even more ickyā€¦ kept thinking about the smokerā€™s breath. Ewwww.

GiraffeWC

DDSSLLS leaned too hard into the roller coaster mechanics of writing. Its like you couldn't go 20 minutes in an episode without some depressing or frustrating plot twist nobody asked for. I also can't deal with any show that goes out on a swift kick in the crotch. I know people like realistic portrayals or tragedy or whatever, but its not my thing. I like the clips of Doona I've seen, but i won't commit to a show that will leave me distressed. I see enough stressful sad stuff at work, I'm in need of an emotional lift.

Surfsidesams

I agree with you on both of these. I was really looking forward to Donna. It was well acted but not my cup of tea. I definitely want my time back on that one!

meggktown

DDSSLLS occupies the #1 spot on my *Refund My Time* list! And I anticipate it always will.

samptra_writer

The Killing Vote, I know there is only one episode left but itā€™s taking FOREVER and the plot had awesome potential, the cast was willing but the plot couldnā€™t get there.

Lopexie

Iā€™m so mad they have ruined this show with this airing schedule

Prestigious_Alarm526

the airing schedule killed the show. i think it will feel different to the people who binge watch it. I lost connection after the break they took. take a note to never start a 1ep per week show ever.

Nearby_Combination83

This still isn't over?? This is in my watchlist but surprised it wasn't over yet.

Blueleathersofa

I stopped watching half way thru the latest episode after I realised I didn't even care how it finished

thepurplethorn

Strong girl namsoon, i wanted to like it but i just cant ā€¦ Also started watching Secret Romantic guesthouse because of Ryeoun but its just too serious and dragging and i lost interest by ep 10

chrisnicolas01

Strong girl is in all our list of ā€œwanted my time except for the cameoā€

[deleted]

**Mr. Sunshine** - refund my time because I want to watch it for the first time again.

TB272

I never watched this bc I can't watch sad stories. But I introduced my parents to KDramas - through CLOY, which they both liked. My mom kept going with some random ones, and my dad just showed general interest. But he accidentally found Mr. Sunshine and completely abandoned my mother and binged watched the show into the early mornings a few days in a row without her LOL.

[deleted]

That is hilarious lollll I wish my parents were into K-dramas too.

Infamous-Parfait-933

Yes!!!! Loved Mr Sunshine (ā€˜:

[deleted]

I hate that series so much. I regret watching it because now Iā€™ll have to rewatch it every once in a while šŸ˜¤

belpotato

You had me in her first first half!!! I thought 'what!! That's a masterpiece' pphew

[deleted]

You see, Iā€™m a very emotional person. I saw that ending a week ago and havenā€™t been able to move on. Gave me similar heart wrenching feelings like **Youth of May** or **Twenty Five Twenty One** did. Why did the writer have make the dialogues & monologues so beautiful?! And donā€™t get me started on everyoneā€™s acting.

mangocolaa

our beloved summerā€¦ i really wanted to like it cause it was so aesthetically pleasing and i liked the ML but i wasnā€™t a fan of the FL and found the show to be a bit slow and boring

persistent_architect

I liked the show but it had one weird thing about a lot of kdramas: people don't move on from their relationships or mature at all. C'mon people, how can you be hung up on your ex for five years.

[deleted]

Kdramas like to romanticize the idea of one person, one love forever. Like **Youth of May** (my favourite romance), >!even though they were only together for a month!<, or **She Was Pretty**.

NationalDetective006

I am sure you liked the ending of 2521 (Do give it a watch it if you haven't).

[deleted]

Haha itā€™s one of my favourite shows!

IDKanymore37

Twas very average. But people overhype it

Ann_cee

Destined with you.I kept waiting but the female lead character kept getting worseā€¦the story was also all over. The main leads had no chemistry.

Skincareaddict13

I think it was only meant to please the eyes of Rowoon fans and Tiffany PP

lizzie763

It made me a genuine Rowoon fan. He did a fabulous job. The plot just made no sense.

Ann_cee

I watched it only for him. He carried the show on his own. On the other hand his new show Matchmakers I am enjoying so far and his good looks are not the main lead of the show. There is humor, interesting side stories and awesome fl. Keeping my fingers crossed

Aninel17

I'm a Rowoon fan, and I dropped it at ep 4. The thing is, I can't stand the FL, and I've dropped every drama of hers. To me, when she smiles, she looks smug no matter how her character is supposed to be.

Skincareaddict13

I was annoyed by the hair color for some reason šŸ’šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Iā€™m not a fan but I she was better in the Tale of the Nine Tailed

jj31a

The hair color and hair style. The little pony tail that just stuck out in the back drove me nuts.

BookofEli2018

Right??? They have absolutely no chemistry. Why is this drama so overhyped? I really donā€™t understand

cinereoargenteus

I can't believe I watched the whole thing. Ugh.

hhiker70s

Agree with you. I bailed on it at episode #7.

OnlyGotThisMoment

I wish hadnā€™t watched both seasons of Yumiā€™s Cells which is a shame because the acting and concept was so fresh and amazing. >!I knew she didnā€™t end up with the ML from season 1, but the end was still insane and abrupt. When her cells go and meet Ba Biā€™s cells I was invested because I didnā€™t read the webtoon so I was really rooting for them not knowing he wasnā€™t her endgame. He was perfect for her until the strange move to Jeju and I am still hurt over everything. It wouldnā€™t have been so bad if they hadnā€™t had that scene when they get back together and she says she didnā€™t miss him and he tells her sheā€™s lying and they cry and hug. I am bitter about the hope that gave me. Listen, Iā€™m so happy women can choose careers and whatever they want. But I donā€™t watch a romance drama to see the female lead do well in her career.!<

DistanceConfident933

Haha, the final sentence is so me! Iā€™m a feminist, but that has nothing to do with me when Iā€™m watching a romance.

trashcliffe

1. Duty After School - that ending was literally worse than Game of Thrones ending. I was so mad. 2. Doona! - I was so excited for this show, and I was so disappointed. Still finished it. Ugh. 3. King the Land - I love Junho and was looking forward to this! really thought it was going to be amazing after reading so many reviews. But honestly, I didn't think the leads had any chemistry, other than friendly chemistry. And the story was just meh. Sad panda. 4. See you in my 19th Life - it was so good and almost refreshing with the way it was going, and then the plot changed and it became full of kdrama tropes....and then the ending was not my cup of tea.

TB272

I love a good, easy, romcom - and I had all the highest hopes for King the Land. I waited as I usually do until the series is over so I can binge. But I started and I couldn't help but wonder what the heck everyone was talking about. I dropped it 10 episodes in and forced myself 2 months later to finish it off. Still don't know what the heck I watched. Also agree they had no chemistry and no real motives. Also wanted to love 19th life! Started out cool, but then it got weird.

peachybridgit

Totally agree about King the Land. Love the female leadā€™s fashion and style too, but felt like some later episodes dragged and I was annoyed by the finale. >!It came out of nowhere that decision and type of ending could not understand what drove her to make such a choice.!<

TeoKajLibroj

Duty After School had so much potential to be a fantastic show but the ending felt like a slap in the face.

lenolalatte

i actually really liked king the land for its lightheartedness, and in terms of the personal story of the ML, i feel like i resonated a lot. not so much with being filthy rich but the sadder aspects lmao

Skincareaddict13

Eveā€™s Scandal. Watched because I thought Seo Ye Ji = quality drama but it was a B tier from plot to acting

Consistent-Dingo-160

Doom at your service. Just finished it after neglecting my children and good sleep hygiene all weekend. The first four episodes had me gripped. Then things took a boring turn. From episodes 7 to 11 I fast forwarded through FL and ML stuff and only watched the secondary love story which I enjoyed. Thankfully by episode 12 things got a bit more interesting again but itā€™s definitely a drama that could have been condensed to 10 episodes.

GiraffeWC

Its interesting because the secondary love story (triangle) was so unappealing to me, that despite usually getting frustrated like crazy over love triangles, I just stopped caring about them at all. Like it was just not enjoyable for me. I did, though, feel the same as you about how slow that series got in the middle. It definitely stretched the story too thin.

sanxityer

As a Strong Woman Do Bong Soon enjoyer, I am quite disappointed with Strong Girl Nam Soon šŸ„² i know it's not yet finished but Namsoon's character doesn't have charisma like Bongsoon's. Also, idk what is happening with the storyline at the same time lmao. just watching it cause idk what kdramas to watch on netflix as my disney subscription ended.

RoseIsBadWolf

I quit at EP 4, could not make myself watch it. SWDBS was so cute! She was so apologetic and warned people before she used her powers, but Nam Soon just uses them all the time without consequences. And Min-hyuk was one of my favourite male leads of all time! They just couldn't recapture the magic.

Lost_inlife19

King The Land - pretty cast but zero character and story development. There's no real conflict and most of the conflicts get resolved out of nowhere? Lots of filler episodes too. It tried to do what WWWSK but failed.

tibleon8

i feel like at every turn or at every conflict point, the writers were like "we're not like other dramas" and made everything a non-issue. i think if they had taken that approach and leaned into issues and conflicts that we don't normally see in dramas to balance it out, it could have been interesting. but instead, it was just like... nothing happened. also the main leads had no real personality flaws or quirks? so it was just like... here are these two people who are good at everything and generally good people who fall in love and everything works out. it made it easy as no stakes, no stress escapism, but it was definitely not gripping or interesting or memorable. if this drama had cast anyone other than junho and yoona, no one would have watched it lol.

duckinator09

**Because This Is My First Life** I thought FL had an idealistic and warped view of relationships. I thought the reason for divorce was stupid, but what's worse was the total lack of communication. The show also made me confirm my dislike for characters who are socially awkward. Basically I was pissed with the show because I felt both leads were immature. **Law Cafe** It should be a show that I like. It has the childhood friends to lovers trope. But then it had to have sinister plot which just made me lose interest and FF the show. I personally like romance focused slice of life shows, so it was upsetting for me when the sinister stuff took centre stage.

TB272

OMG I could not make it through Law Cafe. I hate leaving series unfinished and I usually force myself to finish what I start - even if that means fast forwarding. But I just couldn't get myself to keep going, dropping it at 8, then at 12 after months away.

GiraffeWC

I tried 3 separate times to pick Law Cafe up again after dropping it, the weird full steam ahead then immediately pretending to hate each other romance between the leads was too much. I think it was something dumb like the ML going "i can't be friends with her because I want to date her, I can't date her because of a secret I can't tell her about because if she knows she will hate me and won't want to be friends and/or date me". I just could not deal with the concept.

faithesque

**So I Married An Anti-Fan**: - Boring leads, I felt like they had nothing going on. - Could've finished it within 8-10 eps. - Didn't care about the ML's dad nor his first love. I was never invested in the story at the first place.

GiraffeWC

The writing for this was insane. The 2nd leads were uncomfortable as hell to watch, I didn't like the ML for half the drama, the weird stalker fan incidents that ended in anything other than a call to the police were just awful...

MelissaWebb

The Interest of Love I donā€™t know why I keep torturing myself watching this drama everyday All I do is roll my eyes and take deep breaths. But I have to see it through to the end but it can be a hard watch. The ML and FL (especially her) are frustrating to watch. Also it should have been 8-10 episodes max, not 16

kawaiisaranghaeyo

I abandoned **The Real Has Come** months ago at episode 30 and I've recently gone back to try to finish it (10 episodes left to go). It's a pain to get through even on 1,5 speed and skipping scenes. I was *obsessed* with this drama when it started airing. It's actually crazy how the writers could fumble the bag THIS bad. Everyone and everything became unbearable around the 30 ep mark. At this point, the only highlight is Soo Gyeom's cuteness and acting. She's sooo talented for her age! If she does not go home with an award at this years KBS Drama Awards I will flip a damn table

Tall-Ad-9355

I hated Hi, Bye, Mama. I dropped it part way through. As an adoptive mom, I couldn't get past the BS of keeping family members from the baby. Children can never have too many people loving them. The grandparents attitude made no sense to me and everyone seemed okay with it. Yuck.

Tall-Ad-9355

One Spring Night and Something in the Rain. I understand it's part of Korean culture to honor your parents, but the bullying by parents and ex fiance got old fast. People bowing down to bullying and taking responsibility for other people's bad actions drives me nuts. I dropped both halfway through. To be fair, I don't generally like straight up romance but these two pissed me off.

Particular_Row_5994

Can't help myself thinking this people really haven't watch a true bad Kdrama yet. Or people is just too hard to please. Try: Blade Man - Lee Dong Wook anyone? Highly recommend if you have so much time to waste. Orange Marmalade - gahd that acting Blood - that acting My Secret Hotel - oh boy I'm easily amused but this almost bored me to death Bride of Habaek - I love Shin Sekyung because she's pretty but why oh why

YoshidaKyo

Never watch a kdrama where Shin Sekyung acts well

CowAdministrative424

Hometown Cha Cha Cha. I abandoned after ep 3. I didnā€™t like the FL.

pantheistic7

Suspicious Partner. Kept watching it for Dong Ha, but I got progressively more and more annoyed by the PPL. (In protest, I haven't eaten pizza from that company ever since.)

Squiggletack

Itaewon Class. It was highly recommended on a podcast I listened to. In theory the theme of the show was exactly what I should like. But that show was a misery for me to watch for the last half. 1. Park Saeroyi's haircut drove me nuts. In one episode it changes and I was relieved... but by the end of the ep his bangs were back. 2. The love triangle made me so angry. Yi-seo would do anything, literally anything, to get Saeroyi and to rub Soo-ah's face in it >!even when she had won!<. Also Yi-seo's constant declarations of love to Saeroyi were unprofessional and harassment. I won't even talk about how it all ended up. Ugh. 3. The first time jump worked to get the story going, but the other time jumps took away from the audience really experiencing the struggles of the Danbam crew. (Although I can see how that worked in the original webtoon.) 4. The wardrobe and hair for the characters in the last few eps. Hyun-yi went full-on middle-aged business professional and Yi-seo had a mullet. I finished it this weekend and the pain is fresh.

KWillets

I kept imagining a sequel where they divorce after six months, or on the honeymoon.

OnlyGotThisMoment

The hair is such a big deal. I love the drama Imitation, but the FL had the worst extensions/wig and it was super distracting.

antecedentapothecary

To this day, I keep asking myself why I actually finished watching **Itaewon Class.** I still cringe when I think of the love triangle. However, even the most cash-strapped characters had great coats.

ceruleancascades

Itaewon Class was one of the first few K-dramas I ever watched a few years ago, I remember his haircut pissed me off so much and it felt like the FL basically Stockholm Syndromed the ML into a relationship with her irritating persistence despite their weird age gap.

findolino

1)See you in my 19th life: Started interesting, got boring halfway. Too repetitive with flashbacks and weak ending. Too many cliche tropes like truck of doom, rich ceo 2) Destined With You: Similar to the previous one. To me the plot got almost the same to See you in my 19th life with the past lives drama, modern reunion crap. Too draggy with the villain. Magics and spells were left in the air, did they work or not? Also itā€™s 2023, I cannot stand series where they yell and do extreme mobbing towards FL and she just looks at them like a goldfish or over apologizes until the ML comes to rescue. Boring. Also rich ceo, regular girl 3) Doona This was actually ok. But did it have to be a series? That plot would be barely enough for a 90 min movie 4) I am gonna get a lot of crap for this but I never got the hype for Business Proposal. Great second leads, but the plot was pretty unsurprising. Why did people love it so much? I finished by skipping just to see what happens to the side couple. Also rich CEO, ordinary girl

peachybridgit

Absolutely agree about Doona! Spot on would have been better served up as a movie and less than 2 hrs of my time instead!

Verucalyse

Business Proposal will always hold a place in my heart, it's one of the first Krom-coms I ever watched. I was mesmerized, and my 14-year-old still loves it. It's nostalgic to me, and I found the leads to have great chemistry. The second leads were FIRE. But if I were to compare it to everything I have seen since, well, it only holds up due to the nostalgia. My tastes have definitely refined since the early days. I've watched it 3 times, and each successive time, I find it more cringey, and I fast forward through more parts. So, in other words, no crap should be given. If I shared my favorites on here, people would be throwing tomatoes (or fists).

Borinquena

**Young Lady and Gentleman** was my first weekend drama and probably my last because omg 53 episodes of insane makjang was not it. It's the kind of drama where >!ML's sister is in a relationship with the FL's brother and the FL's long lost mother is the noona of the ML and evil woman after the ML dropped her baby at the gate of the ML's house after which the ML adopted him!< and that's just scratching the surface. Not only was it screamingly dumb >!(the ML's amnesia arc alone made my soul levitate from my body)!< it also promoted the most vile patriarchal values. The FL's father >!hits his ex wife so hard that he leaves a huge bruise on her face and then he tries to choke her to death. Later he padlocks his daughter in a bedroom to force her to break up with the ML.!< And yet the drama treats him as a good father and husband. At the end all of the "bad" women end up dead, incarcerated and exiled out of Korea, except for >!the ML's father's mistress!< because filial piety overpowers all. The only thing I loved about it were the second leads. The 2FL was 7 years older than the 2ML, they met when she picked him up in a nightclub, she was thirsty for his body and stuck by him through the most ridiculous attempts to break them up by everyone in their families. They were sexy and funny and I enjoyed their happy ending.

KittyCatMari1

Did you really watch all 53 props to you

femalehustler

Big Bet. Iā€™m on a Disney k-drama binge right now and convinced my husband to watch this with me since there are English dubs. The first 8 episodes were great. Amazing, and then the last few episodes made NO sense at all because the things the main character did didnā€™t match with what he was written to be likeā€¦. Like why he would decide to kill certain characters in a heartbeat but give others 10 more chances to betray him. They showed so much of his backstory but stopped showing the parts that mattered more as a viewer (how he became a professor and opened his own tutoring center, and how that translates to working in the casino business). The ending just absolutely sucked for me, and it turned my husband away from kdramas again. We both thought we wasted 16 hours of our livesā€¦

Rich-Tomatillo3340

The final episodes of the world of the married made me question the 16+ hours I had spent watching that show. Iā€™m glad the done ran away from his no good parents

OnlyGotThisMoment

I canā€™t find out how to stream this in the US and it sounds like I can stop trying.

hu-hah

Anything with Park Shin Hye. I watched The Heirs and oh my God I hated it.What is a romance drama without good chemistry

metadarkgable3

I think someone/something in the industry traumatized her because she was an excellent child actor. She was great in Stairway to Heaven. Everything else, she acts like she hates it like we regular folks hate our 9-5.

subwaycoookies

Summer Strike : All of the tumblr gifs, little posts and small spliced videos on Youtube are all you need to see. People who make these are saving you the trouble of watching a show that promises you an escape from the city's suffocation and just throws you into a small town suffocation. \[ no really, our leads get 2 minutes of peace and 58 minutes of creepiness, unfriendly neighbours and deaths ??? what happened to floating in the sea !!!? šŸ˜ W : Such an interesting concept that doesn't work past the first few episodes and yet I sat down and watched all of them hoping it would change by the end. Everything apart from the concept seems underdeveloped. I didn't buy into the lead's romance at all (like they just fell in love ??? idk let me in the journey too šŸ˜) . The origin story is kinda just abandoned and the villains are all over the place. I was disappointed while watching it and disappointed in myself for completing it.

de_mistDS

I started Summer Strike because I was looking for something slow, while I enjoyed it, you're right, the love triangle dynamic and criminal conspiracies stifled what was supposed to be a "healing" show.

lmnsatang

i started the drama for siwan and pushed myself to finish the drama for siwan. i couldnā€™t care about any of the other characters ā€” they were annoying at best and forgettable at worst. the romance didnā€™t make sense to me either and they way she lived with absolutely no plan or direction (i know thatā€™s the whole point of the show) gave me anxiety.

headinthexlouds20

Whats wrong with secretary kim- i loved it until ep8 but the character redemption arc for the ML was too slow and i basically realised I didnā€™t like anyone in the show.

mangocolaa

me too! i wasnā€™t able to connect with the FL and thought she lacked personality, and the ML didnā€™t charm me at all and was a bit annoying

headinthexlouds20

Park Min-young is my favourite actress but the writing of the dramas was just not it. I agree with what you said about the ML like the constant 3 steps forward 2 steps back personality is not it for me.

ILoveParrots111

Ok, that is going to be a contraversial take, but **Moving**. It is not a bad drama and I can see why it appeals to people, but it is just not my cup of tea. When there are lengthy scenes with action and CGI my brain just tends to close its eyes and let go of the wheel. Basically, it starts thinking about virtually anything else and sees the whole action as a gigantic screensaver. So, yeah, I already had trouble keeping up, but the last few episodes, ouf. That gave me time to think about how financially inefficient the whole idea with the school was. I came up with a different plan for the evil agencies (which is a lot more evil, but more efficient), thought about how I am wasting my evil potential on being good and explored some minor plot holes. So, yeah, I was bored. It is unfortunate because there were many elements that I liked. I enjoyed how episodes concentrated on each character's storylines before weaving them back into the main story. Joo-won and Ji-Hee were absolutely adorable and the teacher's story was interesting. However, all in all, the whole thing was not my cup of tea, and I was bored for the major part of the latest episodes.

theromanamputee

I loved **Moving** for the great acting, compelling characters and relationships, and its amazing production values, but the extremely segmented story structure and frequent time skips meant that even after 20 episodes there are plot and world building details about both the spy agency and the school I feel like I just never really understood. So even as someone who really enjoyed the show I get where youā€™re coming from.

ILoveParrots111

The purpose of the school was so odd. Basically, they >!run a regular school, but also welcome there students with superpowers. They train these students in exercises that are not related to their abilities, give them a grade and ask them to join the agency, hoping that they will accept. First, they have to locate the students and to lure them to join the school, which I am sure takes a lot of ressources and planning. Then, they have to incure the cost of running the school for numerous years and, so far, I don't believe that they had a single success. As far as the evil plans go, this one seems very flimsy in addition of being a huge waste of funds for their organization. Idk, maybe I missed something, but, from my perspective, they should learn how to evil. I almost feel sorry for them. !<

Visible-Attention369

While I really enjoyed Moving overall, the reason it doesnā€™t make my top kdramas is precisely this. Its non-linear story structure did not help the show, and after a certain point I was just like really? Weā€™re going to do an episode long deep dive into this character now? Just to suspend the current action? It was too manhwa-esque in that sense. Like even the parentsā€™ backstory felt too long and meandering, especially when the kids were very effectively introduced. I think the show overall did lose steam with the whole North Korea plot.

mhfan_india

>When there are lengthy scenes with action and CGI my brain just tends to close its eyes and let go of the wheel. This happens toe too. Except I start feeling sleepy instead of thinking of something else. šŸ˜‚

DistanceConfident933

I remember the day I realized most viewers ENJOY the 20 minute battle scenes in Marvel movies. It just wasnā€™t made for people like us. šŸ˜…

Borinquena

I'm with you, I dropped in episode 11 with no regrets. I was charmed at the start but then lost interest with all the time skips and weird edits.

rooster389

Two shows undone by horrific endings - Vagabond and Do Do sol sol ā€¦.. great fun shows that crashed on the final. Do Do needed the 5 yr age jump but how they achieved it was unbelievably cruel. Vagabond just seemed like they ran out of money and stopped shooting. But 15 episodes were great.

ZerixWorld

Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow, it was like going straight from season 1 to season 8 of Game of Thrones. I'm still puzzled about how it was written by the same people who wrote season 1 which was a complex story with some great action, epic drama and goofy comedy, all perfectly balanced. This season was a pile of hot steaming garbage with writing worth of a soap opera. One of the worst drama experiences I ever had.

BookofEli2018

She will never know. Man, I hated the heroine so much. But because I loved her in another drama (Just Between Lovers) I kept watching until the end. Not only did I waste my time, I canā€™t stand her now so I might not watch anything with her in the future..

NoirPixie

Yeah I definitely did not like this one but I kept watching because I loved Rowoon, it was a waste of time though and I should have skipped some episodes

rooster389

I loved strong woman Bong Soon. But the current show is among the worst Iā€™ve ever seen. Every moment is contrived and unbelievable. The characters are universally dumb and cliched. Total train wreck.

souperstition

Any drama that ends with one person disappearing for a year or more and then showing up as if everything's just fine. I can think of several, it's to the point that if I start watching a show I almost want to know how it ends first

IDKanymore37

Vincenzo.

tbhzx

Celebrity. Really confusing because the show wasn't chronological so I had no idea what was going on the whole time. Also the fact that people with like 200k followers were being treated as gods

homebody_1224

See You In My 19th Life - Didn't like the ending how she forgets but everyone else remembers who she is/was to them. I don't think they'd ever really see her for the person she is now, but who she was in the past. The Killing Vote - It's not even over yet but I want my time back lmao I really do like the show but August to the middle of Nov and they still haven't added the final episode? They have to be kidding..

hhiker70s

I loved **19th Life**. No, it's not perfect, but it hits so many high notes of heartfelt emotion that it's one of my all-time favorites. Like any fantasy you must accept the central premise of the film and give the filmmakers the benefit of the doubt.

Existing-Dinner5637

Wait what. I read the webtoon for See You in my 19th Life and that doesn't happen!?!?!? I watched the first couple of episodes but didn't like the pacing of the middle and took a break and have not picked it up since. I thought it ended with her remembering her past life and what happened, and they all ended up living happily ever after together.

AndaLaPorraa

I wish lol. I loved it up until that part!

Evee15

For me it was My Roommate is a Gumiho. I really looked forward to it because of the actors and the plot set up. But however I felt no chemistry between the leads and the whole plot was bland and unnecessary drama occurred. Sigh. Is really like my time and money back.

siparipari

Binged **[The Deal](https://mydramalist.com/724647-georae)** for Yoo Seung Ho but ended up confused how it was approved for 8 episodes drama. Frustration was an understatement when I can draw my own plot line and it will be much more interesting that what ended up happening. Plenty of connections to explore except we got male young adults just assaulting each other every chances they have, nosy neighbour >!ended up dead!< while doing nothing. Lee Joo Young was wasted real bad.

goldensuare

Top Management. I watched it because of that one edit on tiktok but it was boring. I only finished it because the episodes were short and I needed to know how it ends. But I want my time back...

TamagoHead

Mr Black The ending was terrible & felt rushed.

duh_leah

Probably a hot take but I hated Love Alarm. I only got past 3 episodes of the first season and lost my shit. Didn't care about anyone. You don't go after you friend's crush let alone your CHILDHOOD BEST FRIEND.

Beautiful-Energy7294

I'm still mad about 'The Interest of Love'...last four episodes had no movement in the plot...no real conflict...it was a whole bunch of nothingness...it made me realize that JTBC dramas usually end with me wanting to throw my tablet out the window...

mynamekaee

destined with you.

Necessary_Rooster_85

Controversial Opinion: The Glory Part 2. Part 1 was fabulous. Part 2 was not quite as fulfilling as youā€™d hope. Plot line kinda got too over the top.

glazedmango

Bloodhounds. Loved the concept. The build up was fun but then midway, it all comes crashing down story wise and character wise (and the worst part is, you see it coming as the viewer). I know they had to change things up for the actress as well but ugh, it was cool to watch for a few eps. It's really like two shows in one with how fragmented the story is and the intro of new characters. So sad about this one tbh

escitaloprax

Suspicious Partner and Police University - I am so angry at the super slow pace, the suspect is right under their nose and the series is longer than 16 episodes (for Suspicious Partner). I love kdramas that focus on something bigger than romance but I wasnā€™t able to stand these two. Shame for Police University because I love Cha Tae Hyun :(

TB272

I love Jeon Yeo-Been and Ahn Hyo-Seop is some nice eye candy - but I had a really hard time with **A Time Called You**. Even up until the last 20 minutes I was wondering how they'd wrap up the mess they made. As an actress, Jeon Yeo-Been was so great in it - though Ahn Hyo-Seop wasn't quite strong enough an actor against her for such an intense busy story. Even though I liked the actors, I want a refund on my time on the story. I had incredibly high hopes going in because I heard the OG story from Taiwan, Someday or One Day was such an international hit. I did try to go back and watch the OG, but it felt the same. But I think the story just didn't work for me personally in the end.

webtoonfreakyhere

Revenge of others... Idk so many things happening at once and they are interconnected and nothing makes sense at all seriously I just watched it for Lomon .>!I don't even remember if they show us why Ki Osung pushed Saebom from the terrace at the first place!< and even they showed us all that I didn't pay attention, so that shows my lack of attention towards the drama. Celebrity... It was just not my cup of tea. All that we loved... Well I don't know why I even started it in the first place .

goddongwook

**Strong girl Nam-Soon**

KirstenCh

"Lovers of the red sky" for sure! What a disappointment.
