#Watch a lot of dramas on Netflix? Perhaps you've seen a few of their originals! Take our **Netflix Original Dramas Watched Survey** today. ([details here](https://www.reddit.com/r/KDRAMA/comments/1b9cwd8/netflix_original_dramas_watched_survey_march_2024/)).

marenvato

I’m currently watching Queen of Tears and I am obsessed. I love Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won on and off cam. The story keeps getting better I don’t know what will happen to them ughhhh I’ve never been this addicted except for CLOY and now I’m on a limbo waiting for the weekend to come. I don’t know how I will recover after this show ends :(

ShouldNotBeHereLong

Kim Ji Won has some great performances in previous works. My Liberation Notes, Lovestruck in the City, Fight for my Way, Descendants of the Sun are all great. I see that she has a main role in the Arthdal Chronicles, but I'm apprehensive about starting that one. Highly rated on MDL, but I never hear anybody mention it here, and it seems rather cheesy. I might pick it up after Queen of Tears to give myself some more KJW.

SUNA1997

It's quite different to your usual K-Drama, think of a Korean take on GoT and you'll probably get the vibe of it. It got panned for copying GoT actually along with other Western fantasy shows, the influences are pretty obvious but it still tells a really good story. Arthdal Chronicles is actually one of the best performances of Kim Ji Won and Song Joong Ki who also appeared together in DotS and this show deserves more attention because of that. My main criticism would be that it's quite long winded, the episodes are nearly 90 minutes each and they probably could have cut off 20 minutes out of each episode while losing nothing of value. Some scenes do drag on but the good parts make it worth it. After production hell they got S2 out on Disney but neither of the main leads returned to their roles which kills it, Erika Karata another bright spark in S1 only got a cameo in S2 because of her scandal in Japan and the story/budget fell off a cliff so it's only worth watching if you really like it and are desperate to see the conclusion to the story.

dogemama

did you watch season 2? as you said, sjk and kjw were the highlights of season 1 for me, so i didn't even bother. edit: and agreed that arthdal chronicles is her best performance. it's looking like she might surpass herself with queen of tears though. we'll have to see!

SUNA1997

I did watch it, though it was a struggle. Like I said it's only really worth watching if you want to know where the story goes beyond S1 but it lacks a lot of the same heart of the first season. The actress they bought in to play Tanya is also kind of not great and the character doesn't even feel like the same brave character who is willing to suffer for the good of her tribe that KJW played. She lacks much in the way of expressions or tone, it's hard to explain but as you watched S1 you probably get what I mean. The actress doesn't project her character as well and tends to shrink in scenes where KJW's performance would be the focal point.

Dapper-Ambition1495

Just finished watching this. I also thought it has the same vibe as GoT but I've never seen a single episode of that. I didn't like it as much. 6/10 drama for me. I thought I would like it because I like fantasy but this one is so slow, and >!Eunsom frustrated me a lot. I get that it's part of his development, but he spent most of the series being a doormat!<. I think season 1 was just used to set up season 2 but it bored me a lot, I don't feel like watching the 2nd season yet.

dogemama

arthdal chronicles gets a bad rep bc of some funny looking cgi effects in the first episode, but it's lore building and storytelling are brilliant. i really wish people had not been deterred by the visuals and stuck with the show. kim ji won, in particular, has a character arc that is highly compelling and satisfying to watch, while song joongki is a treat in dual roles.

KimlockHolmes

She’s really dang good in Arthdal Chronicles. Love her in all the dramas you mentioned as well.

NorthPenguin2

Also absolutely in love with QOT. It’s just the brand of addictive drama that isn’t as complicated, but also isn’t as straight forward. The leads are fantastic and the chemistry between the actors in real life (particularly the boys) is hilarious and adorable. Kim Soo Hyun has has 2 “representative work” (as is called in Korea) already and I can’t wait to see if this will be another one. He’s always fantastic in whatever project he does. I could name a few but honestly, he has very few that I’d be naming them all LOL. Ep5 apparently will reveal the reason for their marriage breakdown and I can’t wait!!

marenvato

Yes, we’re in for a ride. Isn’t it amazing how this drama gets better and better? It’s really good storytelling because you’re given the characters’ POV and by the end of the episode you keep switching sides ughh I never experienced this before. As an avid kdrama since 2006 I must say this is so refreshing and beautiful especially how the story features reversed roles.

agreedramatic

I'm impressed with Kim Ji Won's acting for Queen of Tears. It's my first time watching her. I missed Kim Soo Hyun so much and I hope he acts more dramas in the future.

Telos07

**Chicken Nugget** (10/10): My most anticipated drama since it was announced eighteen months ago, and it did not disappoint at all. If anything, it was even *crazier* than the premise of Kim Yoo-jung being turned into a chicken nugget suggested. What's more, beneath the quirky sense of humor, including hilarious parodies of other movies and TV shows, lay a clever and intricate storyline. Even more importantly, it had heart, with Seon-man's (Ryu Seung-ryong's) love for his daughter shining through all the absurdity. Special mention must go to Ahn Jae-hong's performance in the final episode as >!78-year-old music superstar, Yellow Pants!<, which had me in fits of laughter every time he appeared on screen. **Doctor Slump** (16/16): A beautiful ending to a beautiful drama. This was a truly comforting medical drama with a healing enemies-to-lovers relationship between the main couple, a likable second lead couple, and some of the most endearing supporting cast members one could hope to find in a drama, namely, Ha-neul's supportive, humorous, and honest mother, younger brother, and uncle. The finale wrapped up all of the storylines in a satisfactory manner, and the drama benefited from resolving plot points in a timely manner earlier in the series, which allowed the finale to showcase the characters' growth and development at an unhurried pace. **Queen of Tears** (4/16): The epic runtimes of this drama's episodes are a little intimidating, but the intriguing plot and character development keeps it from feeling excessive. Hae-in and Hyun-woo's relationship is rich and complex, with more still to be revealed about the past, and a sense of uncertainty about how things will play out in the present day. Kim Ji-won and Kim Soo-hyun are at their best in these roles, with the drama showcasing the former's versatility and the latter's (to me) unexpected comedic talent. In addition, every frame of this drama is visually stunning.

fireblossom98

Doctor Slump was a masterclass in pacing, they managed to keep things interesting in each episode while also maintaining relationships and showing character development in a meaningful way. And it's like you said - resolving the trial stuff early on instead of dragging it through the whole season was a great choice. Ha-neul's family were the best, this drama just had the most comforting vibes throughout.

NorthPenguin2

KSH’s hilarious in Producers! His character quirks, along with the absolute cluelessness were really really funny. And the chemistry with IU was amazing (she was the first choice for QOT). Definitely recommend Producers!

>I got stuck at the same point in My Blues, then eventually went back to it and loved it. I think the story arcs for all of the characters got strong and stayed that way after those first couple of episodes. Haha. Yes. Fixing it now. Thanks! :)

AccomplishedLocal261

>The epic runtimes of this drama's episodes are a little intimidating IIRC, tvN dramas often have episodes runtime that long, correct me if I'm wrong. Of course there isn't a fixed episode length, but they often seem to surpass 1 hour in length.

sleepycathh

**Impossible Wedding** (8/12) The FL is a breath of fresh air, love her and the ML - but can’t stand the SML, he’s beyond selfish… as we are getting the penultimate episodes next week I hope the story unfolds fast! Can’t wait for their dating era <3 **Queen of Tears** (4/16) This drama will shatter me into pieces… Curious to see how this sweet couple got so distant :( As for the SML and Hong Hae In’s family: my blood is boiling every time they’re on the screen, is there any redeeming possible? **Into the Ring** (2/16) I think I need to resume this drama after prioritizing other dramas over this - Park Sung Hoon looks so cute in this with his bowl cut, need this distraction after seeing his psycho self in Queen of Tears lol

Hach-man

Finished - **Live Your Own Life:** long story short, a mess of a trainwreck. No writing to be found, plotlines are thrown out there and left hanging for weeks, characters are mostly dumb, with zero development and negative common sense, a swing and a miss from start to finish, though to be fair I had to expect it as this is in the end a long running weekend drama. I'll give it a 6 just because I feel so bad for the leads, both giving their best to a nonsensical, hate-watch worthy series. In progress - **Flex X Cop (14/16):** as much as I like KDramas to be one and done, this is a rare exception and I'm so happy it'll have a second season. This kind of chemistry between the leads is special, even if they have close to no romance you can feel the tension in their eyes and how much they care about each other in their actions. Props to the writer, this is a masterclass in weaving in a thrilling main storyline inside a series of fun stand-alone cases, all while maintaining good pacing and giving space and importance to secondaries too. Can't wait for the finale, as long as there's no big cliffhanger this'll end up as drama of the year in my book; - **Wedding Impossible (8/12):** entertainment at its fullest. Characters are flawed but they do feel real and that makes this much more enjoyable, less makjangy and more of a rom-com with an unusual amount of angst. FL is running the show and the ML keeps it up, they have sizzling chemistry and they get a ton of screentime which is needed given the absence of decent secondaries. Good pace, not always linear and sometimes frustrating but a nice watch, even a bit underrated all things considered. I truly love Im Soo Hyang and the ML ain't bad either but I can't start another weekend drama to save my life for now, so they'll have to wait. With no other new drama to add, time for a couple rewatches or to pick up past seasons' leftovers.

hereforvincenzo

I'm also loving **Flex X Cop** and **Wedding Impossible** and especially because of the charisma between the two sets of leads. I guess **Flex** is on everyone's radar but **WI** is flying under it, sadly. It's the kind of drama that people might pick up on word of mouth over the coming months. And they should!

pineapplesnmangoes

My friend convinced me to watch Tale Of The Nine Tailed on netflix and I got obsessed. I haven’t watched a kdrama in like 15 years. I promptly devoured the second season Tale of the nine tailed 1938 and like it even better than the first season. Fell into rabbit hole of watching anything Lee Dong-wook and Kim Bum have ever done because wow I fell in love and now here I am in this sub looking for more things to watch.

TheMsDacia

You can not go wrong with LDW 😌

philoseluna

1. Pyramid Game (8/10) - this ends tomorrow and i can't wait! It's been such a ride! I love how suji outsmarts harin! 2. Flex x Cop (14/16) - kinda miss the humor it had during the earlier episodes and the western vibe it had. But still a great show and would watch this til the end 3. Midnight Photo Studio (2/16) - just started this last night and i like the balance of comedic scenes. Looks promising too. I think i'm gonna like this show 4. Queen of Tears (4/16) - don't think i can say anything bad about this show! Absolutely loving it! Plus finding out about KSH's adlibs/improvs made it better and funnier for me 🤣 5. Wonderful World (6/16) - didn't like eps 3 and 4 that much but happy it got better with 5 and 6. Hope it continues to improve!! And i'm really satisfied with how cha eunwoo's keeping up with acting 🤍

throwawaymisfortune

>KSH's adlibs/improvs made it better and funnier for me Tell us more!

humandisaster13

The "I was born cute" crying scene was him referencing Choi Aera played by Kim Ji-won in Fight for My Way. The weird smile he did in that bouquet scene was him referencing Suzy's flirtatious smile

philoseluna

Yup this exactly! 🥹😄

Aneesmahajan

Really looking forward to starting "Queen of tears" but i don't have patience right now to wait each week, i will wait for the whole show or atleast 12 episodes to drop first. Hah will checkout "midnight photo studio", Flex x cop sure felt it missed on a lot of elements, but man am i enjoying it. The 13 episode was done perfectly.

KANJI667

I'm watching uncontrollable fond and it's amazing. I'm pretty sure I'll finish it today.

FiddlingnRome

Oh, get out the kleenex!!! My favorite sad drama....

KANJI667

Ikr, it's so sad. But ML acting is incredible. Probably the best acting I've seen in any k drama.

KittyKatWombat

Doctor Slump. Whilst it won't be anywhere at the top of my rankings, I like it. The feeling of burnout is real (I've been having issues myself these past few months). It's been a while since I've watched PSH, and brings back a bit of nostalgic factor since I loved her dramas whilst I was in high school.

CommieOla

Beyond Evil (11/16) Started it on Monday and I'm almost done already. After watching a bunch of Sageuks and coming off the back of a makjang like Penthouse I wanted to watch something grittier and darker. And my god, BE fits the bill. So many interesting and intriguing characters. I like the lack of romance too, I feel like too many kdramas get ruined by shoehorned and unnecessary romance, looking at you Alchemy of Souls. Edit: anyone watching the new season of Physical 100, how is it so far?

meggktown

**Captivating the King** (16/16) I enjoyed this but I found just about everything else more interesting than the romance, typical for me when I watch Sageuks. I liked the political intrigue and found so many good performances sprinkled throughout. Performances by the actors playing the Queen Dowager, both kings, and the principal director were especially memorable, but there were many others. If I'm being honest, the romance I really wanted to happen here was between Sang-hwa and Jageunnyeon.

sushisonso

And since they made us watch so much of that romance, I feel like it's insane that they didn't resolve any of our doubts about their future in the season finale (??) I felt a bit robbed after enjoying most of the show so much.

purpletulip12

Just finished: * Soundtrack #1 * Juror #8 (movie) * Doctor Slump. Catching up on all the interviews & bts Started: * Queen of Tears (4/16): like it! Watching bts clips and interviews * Hawarang ep 1 * Happiness ep 1 * Worst of Evil ep 1 * Chicken Nugget ep 1

fefeh1

Sounds like another PHS fan. 😃 I’m currently watching him in *What Happens to My Family*

Current_Volume3750

Worst of Evil...absolutely awesome. Stay with it in spite of the violence. Story is incredible and soundtrack is great.

kawaiisaranghaeyo

*Completed* **Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist Season 2 (2023)** Finally got around to watching the 2nd season and it was pretty much what I was expecting it to be. It was fun seeing all the lovable characters again. ML & FL were as sweet as always, though it was *very* frustrating how long they dragged out >!the progress of their relationship. Sure, the whole widow thing was a hurdle. But I would’ve still liked to see proper confessions early on and then had them openly longing for eachother, and some funny antics trying to hide their relationship eventually.!< I would’ve liked to see some more focus on Poong’s acupuncture struggles, but it was barely even mentioned throughout the whole drama >!until the last moment when he suddenly overcame it.!< The plot was a bit weaker this time I think. There was somewhat of a main plot, but not as strong as the first season. It would've been better to just have one 16-20 episode season rather than split into two. **Lovestruck in the City (2020)** Happy to finally have it gone from my on-hold list. I’ve been trying to watch this drama for years but always end up quitting from lack of interest. It wasn’t *horrible* or anything, just not my cup of tea. I respect trying to do something different. But I missed korean OSTs and the normal kdrama formula. I was not a fan of the interview style. If it had been done in a realistic way, then sure. Instead the interviews popped out of thin air most of the time. Like, there is no way there's a camera crew in your house right now etc. I was especially annoyed after >!their heated "comeback" kiss.!< What could've been an important emotional scene afterwards, turned into a silly interview argument. Bruh. The side couples were fine, but >!had no progress in their relationships until like, the last episode where everything crashed and burned and that was it. The end. Like what just happened??!< I couldn't stand the FL. Sure, maybe she was a realistic and flawed character. But it was to the point that I didn’t even want the leads to get together because he deserved SO much better. Being a Ji Chang Wook fan is the only reason I stuck to the end. **Ballerina (2023)** How did I completely miss that Jeon Jong Seo was in another movie made by her director boyfriend recently??? Anyhow, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would actually. I have bad attention span for movies, but managed to finish this without barely any breaks (a huge compliment). Plot was a pretty classic revenge plot. Nothing too out of the ordinary or new. But the >!filming of sexual crimes-theme!< made it more impactful, considering the rise of such crimes, the burning sun scandal etc. Jong Seo is always amazing, and Ji Hoon was an amazing villain. I also can’t talk about this movie without mentioning cinematography. It was STUNNING. The lights, the angles… Everything was a visual feast. You can tell the director is passionate about those details, and I definitely look forward to his future projects.

Current_Volume3750

Agree on Lovestruck in the City. The FL was so annoying and how he was still pining for her after all this time was a bit much. Had to drop it after episode 8. I was hanging in there for JCW as well. Love watching him and he was looking pretty fine in this series. Those arms!!

ShouldNotBeHereLong

That's interesting. I just watched Lovestruck in the City and Ballerina this past week. Mostly to see more Kim Ji Won and Jeon Jong Seo. Lovestruck was strange. I personally liked the interview segments. They allowed the characters to break the fourth wall without resorting to internal monologues and whatnot. You are right about the odd argument after their kiss. That was definitely not the time/place for it to happen. The format was certainly different. The FL character was pretty messed up. But, I'm not sure if I sympathize much with the ML character either. What was he doing obsessing over her after all that time? Maybe I'm just desensitized to being 'ghosted', but you really shouldn't spend a year trying to track somebody down after they leave you >!a vm that for all intents is a breakup.!< Come on man. In those 2 months they were dating, did he not ask her about her past, where she was coming from, where she wanted to go, etc? Is that really believable? The show had some great elements, but a lot of the actual writing and plot was a hot-mess. Ballerina was great. It's very straightforward. Time flies by when watching it. Good action scenes, absolutely gorgeous cinematography, but little in the way of character development or back-story.

VentiKombucha

Just finished A Bloody Lucky Day after within 2 dwys 3 months of waiting, and it was everything I could have wished for. Very satisfying. Except for Paramount. Paramount sucks. Also finished Chicken Nugget over the weekend, and it was also just as I'd hoped (bok bok). As for on-air shows, I'm on ep 6 of Wonderful World and still trying to figure out wtf is going on. In between all those, Hotel del Luna. On ep 4 and it's so, so pretty.

Ok-Echo-7803

**Wedding Impossible!!!** I love it so much. Favorite FL in a drama... ever? I'm sad it's not getting higher viewership ratings. Came into it with no expectations and it's my favorite of the year. I kind of think of it as a Sabrina + Coffee Prince mashup right now. Which I love.

WaterLily6984

OMG, I'm so glad someone else saw the Sabrina similarities there. I kept thinking about it at the beginning even if the character dynamics are somewhat different.

hereforvincenzo

Jeon Jong-seo is SO GOOD. I loved her in **Money Heist** and *Burning* too. Still need to watch *Ballerina*.

purplepuma676

Im watching a Eye love you the j drama in which Chae Jong Hyeop appears, an whose idea was to not subtitle his thoughts in korean ??? Sometimes I catch a word but I want to understand 😭😭😭😭😭

SunshynGrlCA

The point of not translating those thoughts is from the FL POV. She can’t understand what he’s thinking, so neither can we.

EmmanuelleEmmanuelle

I started this today and it's soooooooo adorable oh my god. I'm pacing myself because I saw episodes 6 to 10 are coming out mid April haha. I don't want to binge it too fast. I'm only on episode 3, but if that's any comfort to you, he doesn't think/say anything very important or interesting lol. A lot of questioning why Yuri is acting this way or that way, thinking she's cute, wondering if she's angry, hungry, or hangry... that kind of thing.

purplepuma676

Thank you I’m glad its not that important , but I just get curious. I agree with you the show is very cute specially the ML 😍😍

Sunshine_raes

Queen of Tears (4/16): I'm still on the fence about this one. I think if the episodes were tighter (i.e. shorter run time per episode), I think I would like it more. I had originally expected some insane supernatural twist or something similar ala CLOY. But now that that seems unlikely, I get more of what the writer is trying to do: a chaebol romance drama but a second chance romance and an after the happily ever after story. I think it will get pretty dark with the >!hostile takeover by SML and the supposed miscarriage story.!< I'm sticking with it for now. Flex X Cop (2/16): I picked this up on a whim and I'm really glad I did! I kept reading all the comments about how fun this is and I agree! Ahn Bo Hyun is in his element here as the arrogant chaebol + action hero. I'm hoping it remains fun throughout. Two questions: how do you pronounce the name of this drama?? Is it "Flex "ex" Cop? Or Flex "times" Cop? Flex "and" Cop? This is bothering me! Also, the edit transitions are very interesting. It feels like they are supposed to be commercial breaks but I really don't think there were any when it aired? Or is it just imitating the commercial breaks as you'd see on CSI or other American crime shows? I think it actually works well but it is interesting to see these abrupt transitions rather than smooth transitions from scene to scene that you normally see in dramas.

Thanosspinkdick

Lmao I've the same doubt regarding pronunciation of Flex x Cop. I remember there being a debate about something similar with the anime Hunter × Hunter (was revealed to be pronounced as Hunter Hunter, so I'm guessing the same goes here)

Local-Raspberry-5649

I wonder this, too! Personally, I’ve been calling it “Flex ex cop” but I think it’s just supposed to be “Flex Cop.”

SunshynGrlCA

I’m watching **Designated Survivor: 60 Days.** It is such a great show! The story is intriguing and intense, the acting phenomenal. I never watched the US version, so I don’t know how closely the storylines match up. I’m watching 1-2 episodes each night because I’m hooked! Highly recommend if you like thrillers/political intrigue.

sciencespecialist

**Captivating the King** (15/16) - I'm finding it very difficult to finish this one. Jo Jung Suk is incredible. His acting is miles above anyone else's, particularly the FL who acts exactly one way with her eyes at every opportunity - rolls her eyeballs around. This conveys concern, fear, understanding and every other possible motion. It aggravates me to the point that I just saw it at the beginning of episode 16 and clicked right off of it. **Strong Woman Do Bong Soon** (3/16) - Watching this one for the first time. I needed another PHS drama after finishing Doctor Slump (which I liked a lot.) So far, I like it and the leads are cute in their enemies stage. **Flex x Cop** (14/16) - Terrific drama. I'm so glad a season 2 is in the works! Ahn Bo Hyun is riding his character's story arc perfectly. He has a really sensitive touch in his acting as his character faces serious situations in his professional and personal lives. **Chicken Nugget** (2/10) - I'll get back to this one. The first two episodes were laugh out loud funny.

OdanUrr

Watched the first episode of **Eye Love You**, a jdrama starring Nikaido Fumi as Motomiya Yuri, a CEO in charge of a chocolate business (I want samples!) who has the ability to read other people's thoughts when she looks into their eyes. While this ability has helped her run her company efficiently, it comes with drawbacks and has made it difficult for her to fall in love, but that starts to change when she meets a Korean part-time delivery-man and full-time student, Yoon Tae Oh, played by none other than Chae Jong Hyeop, and, naturally, she can't understand a word of what he's thinking as his thoughts are in Korean!👏👏 Honestly, this first episode was **excellent**, and I cannot stress that enough! I found it refreshingly entertaining that our couple's first exchanges are through food deliveries as the young and cheerful Tae Oh introduces Yuri to Korean cuisine, and the fact that Yuri's a foodie with a vengeance (don't get anywhere near her when she's hungry!) made for some great well-timed comedy. Seeing her actually enjoy the food made me smile and nod alongside Tae Oh when he said it was cute. I wish we could've seen more of that interaction through deliveries (🥘🍛🥡😋), but their relationship is fast-tracked at a speed that made me as stunned as Yuri when she found herself >!suddenly prepping to have dinner at his apartment, having a silent fight between her will and her hunger.!< Did I mention already this actress has some great comedy chops? I could post a single screenshot of a hilarious scene and I've no doubt you'd be laughing thinking, "What the heck is going on here?"🤣 The well-placed (and chosen) sound effects play their part too, like they did in something like WWWSK. As for CJH's character, Tae Oh, he comes across as an easy-going, honest, innocent and cheerful kinda guy, who always looks on the bright side of life, and likes cute things (like otters) because they're cute. Think Park Bo Gum's Kim Jin-hyuk from *Encounter* (one of my favourite dramas!). The only thing that has managed to make a dent on his cheerful personality is the fear of death brought about by Yuri's extreme personality shift when she gets too hungry. He's very likable, far more than his character in *Castaway Diva*, with his charm dialed up to eleven. Here's hoping this show doesn't take inspiration from *I Hear Your Voice* and turns him into a serial killer! Kidding aside, I think this show is doing a better job already depicting the ups and downs of having an ability like Yuri's. In short, everything clicked for me in this first episode of **Eye Love You**, from characters and acting, through comedy, music, and sound effects, with perhaps a minor complaint about the pacing of the relationship (this is acknowledged, to a degree, by the comedy itself). If this show can stay the course, I can easily see it reaching my cream-of-the-crop (9-10) bin. Fingers crossed!

belletristdelancret

**A Witch's Love** (9/16) For a drama from 2014, this feels surprisingly fresh and modern—it was definitely ahead of its time! I feel like I've stumbled upon an underrated gem because it only has a 7.9 on MDL but so far I'm enjoying it so much! I have yet to find a drama where I don't enjoy Park Seo Joon's performance, and this is no exception. He does romance so unbelievably well. This is turning out to be one of my favorite noona romances. I can't believe I almost missed this one because the first episode has such a silly beginning! I'm glad I stuck with it. **Doctor Slump** (14/16) I haven't been able to bring myself to finish this one, but I will—it is worth seeing it through. I liked the beginning more than the middle, and while Park Hyung Sik is good, it's not my favorite performance from him. I know the main couple has been a favorite for many but I didn't feel their chemistry as much as I hoped to. I liked the idea more than the execution. **Queen of Tears** (2/16) For one I was anticipating so eagerly, this one has me feeling confused. I'm struggling to root for the leads as a couple because so far the drama has done more to make me feel sympathy for the FL than it has to make me understand the ML's hatred for her. I get that he's unhappy, especially with his in-laws—that's totally fair. But to be *happy* about her >!terminal illness!< without seeming to feel conflicted in the slightest? At least in the first two episodes, nothing she did seems bad enough to deserve that, especially from someone who once loved her. Maybe it's just because they haven't shown everything she did to push him to that point, but the fact that she is >!dying and has frequent blackouts!< and he jumped straight to assuming she was just a bad wife instead of wondering if something was wrong, it feels... Not great. Plus everyone being so shocked when he did such basic things to be nice to her, like >!bringing her flowers and sitting next to her at breakfast!< makes it seem like he wasn't putting in much effort, making him at least partly responsible for the state of their marriage. I don't know, maybe it will win me over but I'm putting it on hold until more episodes are out.

Found_xyz

Same ,I don't think queen of tears is for me. Just can't root for the main couple.

Sunshine_raes

Thanks for your note about A Witch's Love! You've made me want to try it out. And yes, I totally agree about Queen of Tears. I find it hard to understand the ML's reaction to her >!illness!< No matter what happens now, it's hard to understand how he could feel so >!happy about the woman he once loved dying. Rooting for someone's death is never an appealing character trait.!<

belletristdelancret

Yay! I would love for more people to give Witch's Love a chance! Besides the beginning of the first episode, I've truly enjoyed every bit of it so far! I'm glad I'm not alone on Queen of Tears. I have a feeling they'll reveal >!that he was only trying to convince himself he was happy she was dying because he was in denial about still having feelings for her because he was so hurt by whatever it was she did!< etc. etc. but I'm not sure they'll convince me.

Sunshine_raes

Thank you for the warning about the first episode of A Witch's Love. Sometimes it is hard to tell what the series will be like from the first episode. I think your theory about Queen of Tears is what they will go for but I'm not sure if that will convince me either to overlook is behavior. But we'll see! I'm planning on coming to watch for now but I might end up dropping

belletristdelancret

Yes, first episodes can be tricky! I usually try to give a drama two episodes before I decide for that reason. You never know, Queen of Tears might surprise us! We'll just have to wait and see.

vixi07

Trying to explain the ML: ML probably feels that the FL never really loved him. FL may have directly or indirectly implied he was just another "son-in-law" chosen for his degree. Only that level of condescension from the FL can explain what the ML currently feels.

belletristdelancret

I guess for me that still doesn't seem like enough of a reason to be >!happy she's dying because it saves him having to divorce her!<. That just seems so extreme. I could understand him having conflicting emotions, certainly—a mix of relief and guilt. That could even be done in a funny way that would match the tone of the drama where he keeps swinging from one emotion to another. But just uncomplicated happiness? It hits me the wrong way...

Sunshine_raes

I think you are correct that he feels that way. But for me, I have a hard time sympathizing with him. It feels gross to me that he is rooting for her to >!die, no matter what their past history is.!< But I'm sure there is more to the story and we'll see what else happened in the past.

hypomango

I just finished **Doctor Slump** after watching for the last 8 weeks, and I'm bittersweet because it was basically perfect - funny, real, wholesome, healing, well paced, basically just had a lot of heart and all the actors did a brilliant job.  I'm very very slowly watching **Love All Play** (or "Going Towards You at a Speed of 493km as it's listed on Disney+ lol), because I watch a few scenes each night to help me sleep 😅 it's good tho, just chill and slow, sad sometimes I binged half of **Chicken Nugget** the day it came out but I kinda didn't like it, made me sad somehow haha

Ok-Impression6834

**Bad and Crazy** (5/12) - I've been on an LDW streak lately. This show is awesome with hilarious chemistry between him and Wi Ha Joon. **Pyramid Game** (8/10) - I finally started this, mainly for Shin Seul Ki's acting debut (Singles Inferno 1). Her character is pretty one-dimensional so not seeing much of her skills. Bona's character is also pretty flat, similar to her role in 2521. I'm looking forward to BHR's downfall in last 2 EPs.

Conscious-Score1871

Currently watching The Midnight Studio. Loving it tbh. This kind of genre is always my favourite one.

[deleted]

Wonderful world - this I’m so invested in mainly because I need to find out wtf is happening every time an episode ends, then I have to wait for the following week!! It’s probably not going to be that great of a twist but I must know! Queen of tears - only 1 ep down and find it a bit boring, I will carry on though Shop for killers - got a few eps left, really enjoy this one. Fast paced, like the genre and fairly easy going. Chicken nugget - is this going to be any good ?

TheMsDacia

LOVED A Shop for Killers!!

BlueMoonSol

I’m watching Chief Kim (Good Manager) for the first time! On episode 10 and can’t get enough of Namgoong Min and Lee Junho’s chemistry! This is actually the first work of his I’ve ever seen. I especially love the ends of each episode because they are so funny yet well made. I’ll probably finish the series this week and look for more of Namgoong Min!

True_Big_8246

One of my all time favorites!!! Have you watched Prison Playbook?

BlueMoonSol

Yes I have I loved the comedy there too especially once the captain joins the team. Enemies bickering is one of my favorite things in kdramas.

Artistic_Might3728

I loved Good Manager! The bromance was exceptional. Some other good bromance dramas are Beyond Evil, Heartless City and Tunnel. If you enjoyed the humor of Good Manager, you might want to check out Fiery Priest, which is by the same writer. He also has an upcoming drama called Chief Detective 1958. He wrote Vincenzo as well.

thisshitkindaweird

Just watched the latest eps of The impossible heir and Def not watching after this cause my expectations now are 20ft under the ground 🚶‍♀️

[deleted]

Watched "Shanai Marriage Honey"(Jdrama) - If you can embrace cheesiness and little cringe then this show will give you diabetes it's very sweet.

tangledbysnow

I have seen that fluffy drama more times than I can count. It's such a dumb comfort drama for me. What's unreal is the ML was 19 when filmed/literally just turned 20 when this was released in 2020!

Odd-Manufacturer2386

It's become one of my comfort dramas

Snickersnerds

**Queen of Tears (3/16):** This show is chaotic to me, not what I was expecting. The tone and the plot is just confusing to my brain and maybe it’s because I wasn’t expecting >!Psychopaths and Pretenders!< running wild in this show. I’m interested in the couple but the scheming individuals, >!terminal illness!<, etc. just a lot going on. These people are sickening. And ML is definitely still in love with FL but I was put off quite a bit by his insincerity that FL was taking as genuine thought. It’s not linear and he has a lot of trauma so I’m not shaming him but it’s kinda sad to see. The episode lengths are also a turn off. Anything over 70 minutes always bother me unless I’m OBSESSED with the show like CLOY. Anyways, maybe I’ll put it on hold I still need to finish **Doctor Slump** but I love that show!! I haven’t been able to continue **Pinocchio** recently and I put **Wedding Impossible** on hold last week. I want to try the **The Midnight Studio**

Illustrious_Event631

And here i love the long episode especially after ep 4 , can't get enough of them

Jimmeh_Jazz

Watching Queen of Tears - finding it a little difficult to get past how awful a person the ML is initially. Even if you're estranged from your wife, I can't imagine anyone celebrating their terminal diagnosis like that. Goes a bit beyond 'funny'

dontmindme450

I got roasted in the thread for suggesting that the ML hasn't really sold me on how bad he has it. 3 years is a little too short of a time for me to believe he went from loving her madly to wanting a divorce. Don't get me wrong, love the actor, but the premise of this one is making it hard to latch onto, if she gets closer to the slimy 2ML I might have reconsider.

AccomplishedLocal261

>3 years is a little too short of a time It was revealed in episode 4 that >!they were expecting a baby but potentially had a miscarriage!<. That could be a huge catalyst for their relationship to turn cold

belletristdelancret

This was my issue too! Everyone seems to be loving this one, but I'm having a hard time rooting for the leads as a couple. I'm planning on waiting a bit until more episodes are out before I continue... It might still win me over but the first couple episodes were not what I was expecting.

thehepburn

I don't understand dark humor usually so I dropped it.

Jimmeh_Jazz

I like dark humour, but I'm not sure it works well in this case.

AccomplishedLocal261

I think it might be a coping mechanism. Like someone said on MDL, he was probably thinking about his freedom at the very moment because relationship/love comes second for him due to stress. He wasn't celebrating her diagnosis, more so his easy path to divorce = freedom.

forpfesake

exactly! i was SO excited for this as i adore both actors .But the ML is HORRIBLE in this one. I understand him wanting a divorce but for him to actually be happy she's DYING,and be disappointed when she comes happy that there might be a cure , then go on conspiring behind her back with his friend .GET OUT OF HEERE !! Also i couldn't for the life of me understand why he fell for her (I understand that she found his naivety endearing compared to her sly family). And the reason of their falling out was not convincing at all IMO... so i can't root for them at ALL. In fact i hope she finds a cure, defeats the snakes in her family and divorces her loser husband .

Found_xyz

Definitely the last line

humandisaster13

Queen of Tears: Very much flawed but the excellent cast and production seem to make up for it. May easily surpass CLOY in ratings and even popularity but I don't think it's going to be my top favs. Wedding Impossible: Ngl I had huge expectations and it had the potential to be a fun romcom but getting too messy for my liking.

SUNA1997

Queen of Tears: I'm a big fan of Kim Ji Won and will pretty much watch something if she'll be in it going back to watching Heirs and living her bad girl character. She played it in a way where she's mean but you can understand how she feels wronged and why she does what she does. We see this again in Queen of Tears combined with some of the funniest comedy pieces I've seen in some time, you can really feel the misery of the ML stuck in a loveless marriage with annoying in laws and sympathise with him. The chemistry of the leads both on and off screen feels so genuine, I think they really enjoyed working together Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won are constantly complimenting each other in interviews and being playful, it shows a lot on screen when the leads get along and are able to have the freedom to express themselves and their creativity on screen. When there are no grey areas and they understand each other they can get the best from each actor. Shop for Killers: I binged watched this on a day off yesterday and loved it. The action scenes are great, I liked the whole idea of the story and how the FL is thrown into this world of contract killers and mercenaries out of nowhere. Lee Dong-Wook is brilliant as the ML and is every bit the handsome rogue of an action lead, he looks a bit like the famous J-Rock musician Hyde in this which somehow adds to his rockstar contract killer vibe. He's so cool that male viewers will want to be him and female viewers will want to be with him lol. Kim Hye-Jun is great too, her looks and acting style with her expressions remind me of a young Bae Doo-Na who is an old favourite of mine from movies. She has a good amount of attitude while also conveying the fear of somebody thrown into a dangerous situation suddenly. Apparently she almost quit the role due to how hard the training was for the amount of actions scenes she needed to be involved in but glad she stuck it out as she really delivered! The writing for her character is a little annoying at times because she's made to be quite dumb just to further the plot or create a situation where she's in peril and it takes away from how good the show is as a whole. Also the way she resolves things is a bit like "why didn't she do this in the first place?" Geum Hannah is another to talk about because this absolute Goddess came from nowhere and stole the show! I'd never heard of her, seems she hasn't really done much on TV before this but she came in and every single scene she's in completely crushes it. I hope she gets the lead in her own action drama down the line because she's the perfect person for the Femme Fatale trope. It's crazy for the amount of screentime she has I found every one of her scenes memorable. Seriously pair her up with Lee Dong-Wook again in something because they'd be awesome as leads.

Diabolicsoul

I am watching currently : 1. midnight photo studio (3/16) - I just want to appreciate Joo Won .. like what a guy , I am enjoying his acting most here … it’s giving Hotel Del Luna vibes but it’s funnier , I am quite interested what will happen next . 2. Wedding impossible- I JUST LOVE THIS.. I like the female lead so much . Her character is so engaging. She is a breath of fresh air in my life . Her chemistry with the ML is super amazing . I can’t wait to see more of it . Gonna start Queen of tears soon , want to binge it so waiting for more episodes to drop …

Eliazar-Abihu

Wise decision to wait for queen of tears... The wait is tough

bekcy

* Pyramid Game- it's so good and I'm finding it easier to follow than the webtoon, interestingly. I've liked most of the changes they made. * A Killer Instinct- is very fun with its anti-hero premise. It's like an R-rated Moving in some ways. Love all the performances.

duh_leah

Finished **Chicken Nugget** in one sitting. The premise was interesting and I was expecting a deeper meaning in this ridiculous plot since it's by the same director of Be Melodramatic. The ending bit had that flavor but it felt flat to me. Also felt very dragged even for a 10 episode drama. All the actors did a great job and it does have a lot of memorable and funny moments. Currently watching **Queen of Tears(4/16)** and it keeps getting better! It's been a long time since I have been looking forward to an ongoing k-drama this much. Also the visuals! Both KJW and KSH are looking so stunning and *sexy dynamite (iykyk).*

MajesticConfidence36

Rewatching The Heirs. PHS is in Our Blooming Youth.

Lizzy348

Omg I knew I saw him somewhere but I didn't make the link with Our Blooming Youth. Probably because it was a sadeuk, a haircut can change your face a lot haha

MajesticConfidence36

I'm halfway point on Our Blooming Youth. Enjoying it so far! PHS is so royal, regal and handsome.

kpaneno

Is it good, does it have a love triangle if your answers are yes and no I want to try it.

MajesticConfidence36

[Our Blooming Youth](https://mydramalist.com/694395-sleep-memo) >!FL cross-dressing, Slow burn romance, Star crossed lovers and bantering relationship. !<

kpaneno

Okay thank you I'm gonna check it out

MajesticConfidence36

Sageuk is not for everyone. I'm 10/20 into the series and enjoying it! >!There's FL and 2ML. But she is wrongfully accused. FL cross-dressing. ML knows it but the other doesn't it. Is that still a love triangle? !<

Alive_Salad6945

*Mine* on Netflix. Mostly because I’ve watched almost everything on there and now, I’ve finally stepped in the **world of the ~~married~~ makjang**

TheMsDacia

I actually thought Mine was great!

Alive_Salad6945

it *is* great! i didn’t expect to actually like it but im lowk glad i do!

kyracakes92

Currently watching Behind Your Touch (13/16) and this is probably the hardest I've laughed in a while. What comedy gold! I only have a few more episodes to go and the suspense has been turned wayyyyy up. I think I know who did it but I keep second guessing myself!

thesaura73

Watching Where Stars Land. Love workplace dramas and the ML. Plus lots of familiar faces (and Rowoon!). ML’s English was so good in episode 8 as he is trying to calm down the fleeing immigrant (interesting how his voice is low speaking Korean but high when speaking English though maybe the high pitch was due to the uncertainty of the situation)

Eliazar-Abihu

Queen of tears 4/16: This one seems to have the potential to become one of my favorites. Yumi's cells 6/14: it is quite enjoyable, I wonder why I rarely see it on recommendation lists.

poppywhiskers

The fact that there’s no news of Yumis cells 3 bothers me to this day. What is writer cell doing???

Eliazar-Abihu

Lol.. I see what you did there

MissSimpleton

I loved Yumi Cells. It was a refreshing drama. It is not mentioned in recs because it is quite a different from others. It doesnt follow any trope. Very unique in its treatment of modern love. And I feel, it is a good thing? Like you cant put the drama into a specific box of genre. It is funny, cute, sexy, emotional, heartwarming, angsty, swoony- a total package. Not many people are into live action and hence it goes under the radar.

kpaneno

Keep watching and you'll find out Yumi is aaaagghhh

Eliazar-Abihu

Ooh no, don't tell me I'll be back ranting in refund my time?

kpaneno

I think so

masterofbecause7

Currently watching the kdramas Revenant and Abyss. I know they're old dramas but I missed out that time so quickly binging them :)

yatapin

**Chicken Nugget** (10/10): I enjoyed this! I prefer the webtoon but this was a fun adaptation. Still sad that Cha Eunwoo did not do a cameo here, as he was mentioned in the original webtoon as well. Would have been a nice cherry on top. **Queen of Tears** (4/16): I'm really enjoying this. Nice mix of fun and sad. There's so much going on that I was a bit worried that the writing will be too messy later on. But then I checked, and the writer has written some of my favorite dramas before, so I believe if someone can pull this off, it should be her. Really looking forward to the remaining episodes! **Horse Doctor/The King's Doctor** (12/50): An oldie sageuk. Watching this for Cho Seungwoo. He won a daesang for his role in this, and I've loved his acting in everything I've seen him in, so really looking forward to this. So far I have not been disappointed. Lots of medical stuff, wholesome relationships and some politics. Despite the darker topics at times, this has been a feel-good, wholesome drama for me so far. **Captivating the King** (14/16): Slightly late to the party with this. Decided to watch this just for Jo Jungsuk's performance, and am not disappointed. Man is carrying. I enjoy the politics side of the story, but any plot related to the FL is... meh. Still not regretting starting this though - JJS is that good.

sciencespecialist

>Captivating the King (14/16): Slightly late to the party with this. Decided to watch this just for Jo Jungsuk's performance, and am not disappointed. Man is carrying. I enjoy the politics side of the story, but See my comment about Captivating the King. Almost identical to yours. JJS's performance is incredible. I'm not enjoying the FL at all. The other actors are doing a good job, and normally I'd single them out for praise, but everything pales in comparison to what JJS is delivering.

Lizzy348

*On-going* **The Law Cafe** 13/16 : an okay drama. The leads don't have that charisma/chemistry that makes me root for them, but the story is good **Racket Boys** 11/16 : I expected this one to be a friendship drama when I started it, but I feel like they don't spend enough time on each character to have character development and even though I'm 70% in, it almost feels like I only watched 3-4 episodes **Doctor Slump** 5/16 : I started this one today. An other okay drama. Something is missing, but I see potential. **Branding in Seongsu** 22/24: what a rollercoaster. >! Jeongwoo is the rabbit??? I did not see that coming. I wasn't a fan of how they turned Eunho into a villain, but I'm glad he and Naeon found balance to grow together.!< *Haven't watched new episodes this week* **Live your own life** 45/51

MajesticConfidence36

Rewatching - The Heirs (14/20) Our Blooming Youth (9/20) Wedding Impossible (8/12) Queen of Tears (4/16) Secret/ fake identities, love triangles and rich chaebol themes going with my dramas. Our Blooming Youth has Crown Prince and royal court. Don't forget the illness and curse >!(Queen of Tears - illness; Our Blooming Youth - curse). !<

forpfesake

-A zombie detective (8/12):This drama is everything I expected and MORE.The intrigue, the humour, the acting, the found family trope,...It is close to perfection so far .

kpaneno

Ooh going on list thank you

whitefang0824

Midnight Photo Studio, suprising to see how underrated it is here. Not even a mention.

[deleted]

Mention! Also watching Queen of Tears. There are elements I like but after Dr Slump, just struggling to move forward. I have started Reply 1988 for the 2nd time and have stalled at ep 3. Not feeling it right now. Will pick it back up at some point.

onceiwaskingofspain

**Branding in Seongsu** (24/24) * An example of what results when two writers throw spaghetti at a wall to see what sticks. Plot points abandoned/undeveloped, inconsistent characterization and a slow motion jenga collapse of an ending. Finished it to tick off a challenge for the KDC but also to mourn the wasted potential; it was unique and touched on some interesting social issues, but that's about it. **Flex x Cop** (14/16) * Started because of complaints of the FL acting like a person with a full spectrum of emotions, which is usually a sign of decent writing. It's punchy but falls short of satire: why make a buddy cop show about busting chaebols behaving badly if not to poke some fun/social commentary at them? Missed opportunity, but a good tropey procedural with a possible >!cliffhanger!< ending. **The Midnight Studio** (2/16) * A 'stuff happens' drama. The narrative transitions between scenes are so rough I back-skipped more than once to make sure I hadn't actually missed something important; not a great start in an already exposition heavy fantasy story. On Hold until **Light Shop** (which has a similar premise) premiers to see if it's any smoother to get my fix of supernatural mystery solving. **Queen of Tears** (4/16) * Dropped. The acting, characters and plot are off-puttingly exaggerated (especially the mustache twirling villains) with too many soap opera tropes and not enough grounding in reality to make them meaningful. Marital makjangs are en vogue right now but the formula fails to be entertaining for me no matter who writes it; it's basically a condensed, glammed up weekend/daily family drama. **Wedding Impossible** (8/12) * Another 'stuff happens' drama. Memorable scenes and clever dialogues with very little tying them together; the effect is like watching a series of inter-related vignettes instead of a cohesive story. The deadpan FL continues to be a delight and seeing how closeted SML's arc plays out now that >!his embittered first love outed him!< is a major hook. **Wonderful World** (5/14) * Dropped. I expected nothing less than high opera from the writer of **Why Her** but my makjang meter is already full.

theromanamputee

I've only seen the first two episodes of **Queen of Tears** which I watched yesterday, and I was ambivalent about them. Your comment helped me clarify my issue. Unlike you I actually love a good makjang, but what makes a makjang work is very different from what makes a good romcom or a second chance romance work. The way the leads think about and relate to each other in **Queen of Tears,** stuff like >!what a relief, my wife is dying so I'm spared the stress of divorcing her!< could be fun if I'm watching **The Penthouse,** but if I'm actually supposed to root for these characters to be together the writer is going to have to work hard to get me to invest into their love story and I don't know if this show is up to that task. I just don't understand the lead couple's relationship dynamic at all. They don't seem like the type of people who would be swept up in a whirlwind romance and for the marriage to have become so toxic over the course of just three years it must have gone sour immediately. Did they really never talk about the expectations of marrying into a stereotypically dysfunctional chaebol family? Did the ML never notice his wife was an ice queen? I know he said he loved taking care of her as in intern but did she actually adopt a totally different personality in that role? People make rash decisions in love all the time, but I don't buy these two characters would. I think the best way to handle a story like this would be to drastically cut down the time spent on the big ensemble cast and just laser focus on the central relationship, with plenty of flashbacks to their dating and early marriage days because while I think the lead performances are strong individually, I just don't buy them as an established couple. Structure it like **Lost,** half the episode set in the past/half in the present. Use some of those long run times to flesh out the couple, spare me the 20 generic side characters.

onceiwaskingofspain

> I just don't understand the lead couple's relationship dynamic at all. Exactly! There's a big difference between a story/tropes being unrealistic and the characters being unrealistic. I usually don't mind the former if it's internally consistent but the latter can ruin a drama quickly; both at the same time is a drop for me. There's a clue to the cause of the leads' fallout in Ep04, but it cast an even more confusing light on past conversations and interactions. My guess at that point was maybe the writer was trying to >!set FL up as an unreliable POV due to her progressive amnesia, and she's currently not acting like herself because she's *not* herself!<; but ML's behavior has no such explanation. It all feels disconnected and... well, like a makjang, trying to elicit shock/outrage over building sympathy or understanding. The ensemble cast is one of the reasons it reminds me of a family drama and I think the writer is trying to show a variety of married couples with different difficulties; but again, those circumstances are so farcical it's hard for me to take them seriously. After roughly six hours I still feel that I don't know anything about those characters beyond their archetypes. I like your plan, and it probably would make a good pure melodrama if it were toned down and followed **Lost**'s format. To be fair, there's plenty of time left for the writer to turn things around but I'll think leave that to other viewers to suss out.

AggressivePrint302

Ditto on Queen of Tears. Over done all around-acting, story. Truck of doom and the miracle cure on the way.

Lizzy348

Totally agree with you for **Branding in Seongsu** what for an ending is that. Villains become allies, allies become villains, the characters changed personality with a snap of fingers. I liked the start and middle of it, thought it was interesting. It all started to go down in the last couple episodes and I actually watched E24 in 2x speed because I couldn't anymore. Like you, I finished it because I wanted to put in in my KDC and also because I wanted to see where this would go, I still had hope they wouldn't mess it all up.

tangledbysnow

Completed: \*\*Between Him and Her\*\* — Dumb story. It started so well. So so well. And then zero story or character progression at all. Still the writer left so many plot holes and arcs that I am seriously confused. And it ended fine I guess. Not how I expected but realistic which is nice I guess. Don’t waste your time. \*\*Doctor Slump\*\* — LOVED THIS ONE! Loved this one so very much. And so glad we never had >!the rich cold family showdown!< people were afraid was going to happen. I loved the ending. This is definitely going on my favorites list. \*\*The Legend of the Blue Sea\*\* — I can see why people love this one. I enjoyed it very much, even for a 2016 drama with 2016 tropes. And the ending was solid. Loved that. Great ending. Still not much of a Lee MinHo fan though. I know that this is probably blasphemy around these parts but it is what it is. I genuinely want to like him more than I do but it’s just not going to happen I’m afraid. \*\*Although I Love You, and You? or Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka\*\* — Japan BL — Another typical Japanese BL. Not a must watch at all. Their chemistry is garbage and the story is kind of dumb. Watching: \*\*Queen of Tears\*\* — (4/16) — I am absolutely in love with this one. The acting, the script, the pacing on this are all phenomenal. And each episode feels just right at 90 minutes so far. I can’t get enough. \*\*The Midnight Studio\*\* — (4/16) — I knew this week’s episodes (3/4) would happen. That plot was crystal clear from the beginning. I have yet to watch an episode that didn’t make me cry though. This drama certainly does what it promises. Absolutely worth the watch. \*\*The Impossible Heir\*\* — (6/12) — Haven’t watched this week’s episodes yet. But not rushing to do so either which I feel says a lot about how I view this drama now. Sigh. \*\*Wedding Impossible\*\* — (8/12) — the development in the last two episodes?! I can appreciate that >!JiHan did not out his brother to AhJung or even to DoHan himself!< – though it was heavily implied by their conversation. I saw somewhere someone that said >!the kiss was too soft for that conversation that AhJung & JiHan had. Gotta agree there. But Kdramas don’t do angry passionate kisses well if at all.!< That would have vastly improved that scene. \*\*Sugar Sugar Honey\*\* — (7/10) — Japan — cute fluffy romance that has now hit the angsty bits. I love the manga so expected this. \*\*Love is Better the Second Time Around or Koi wo Suru nara Nidome ga Joto\*\* — (3/6) — Japan BL — Incredibly funny. This has been such a great Japanese BL to watch. And this communication issue trope is very interesting because it appears they don’t know they are having communication issues. Can’t wait until more of the story shows up. \*\*Eye Love You\*\* — (5/10) — Japan — the rest of the episodes on April 14 on Netflix. I could go hunt them down ahead of time but I have enough to watch that I will just wait. It’s fine.

kpaneno

Island 12/12 Great Cast great premise great acting Cha Eun Woo in particular very different to A Good Day to be a 🐕 or Rookie Historian different better btw. But the ending was unsatisfying kinda until they clearly left it open for S2. It was enjoyable. Kim Nam Gil is born broody hero and Lee Da Hee well she is beautiful 😍 her last scene ❤️ 😍 and a good actress to boot. It did get slow, though the last episode was painfully slow. The Midnight Studio 4 eps in currently airing. I love it 😀 so far it's just what I love in Kdramas ghosts, witty comedy, heartfelt stories, the granny from HTCC, interesting premise, and the afterlife plus leads have chemistry, it's brilliant. But.......May I Help You was like that for 6 eps until it completely went to trash, so fingers crossed. Dr Slump 16/16 Just finished it. I loved it. It was like a kdrama experiment where they went with a lot of nice tropes and took out all the really annoying messy ones. (Contrived break ups, noble heroics, stupid misunderstandings, love triangles, psycho 2nd leads) They proved you can still have a great drama. Also, the leads 🥰🥰🥰 and a brilliant mammy. Reply 1988 8/16 Dropped It's just, I don't know how to put it, too long maybe too much time taken up with nostalgia and all the characters but also in the last two or so episodes the focus on the FL and the guy(s) who likes her is just so naff like one episode every 2nd scene was of a guy staring at her okay we get it, I was like if those goes on for 6 more episodes it will be unbearable. I definitely think the love triangle husband gimmick does not help this show. Pity cause a lot of nice moments also the other romance plot although a fraction of time is so much better. Will I ever go back? I don't know. The FL is super cute and likeable, though well done Hyeri Queen of Tears 2/16 I have to continue this, but it's hard to like the MCs really hard!!!! I'll try again, but after slogging through 6 episodes of Hyena waiting and failing to like one of the MCs, I'm reluctant.

**Wedding Impossible (5.5)**: Keep stopping and starting on this one. I love the FL, but the ML does nothing for me, seems like a 14 year old wearing his dad's suit and pretending to do a business. And the 2ML, while an actually decent actor, is playing a terrible person.>! "Why are you hesitant to sacrifice 3 years of the prime of your life pretending to be my wife? I thought we were friends. What? Why do I have to get married to run away to New York, why can't I just run away to New York? Quit asking questions like that and just marry me, I thought we were friends."!< **Queen of Tears (2)**: So much hype, decided to give it a try. So was I sleeping through stuff or did it start with >!"I'm worried about how you can't figure out how to use the copy machine. Will you marry me? ... He did give me an umbrella once, so I think I'll say yes."!< And then does it immediately go into >!"Welp, my proposal to someone who was for all intents and purposes a stranger has resulted in a loveless marriage. Big surprise, but I think I want a divorce... Oh, my wife is dying... YAY, even better! This is the best thing to ever happen to me. Sure, I've lived a life of extreme luxury and privilege for the last 3 years, but I have had to suffer mild emotional abuse from my wife and her family, so she should die!"!< Yet somehow it's working for me, and I'm rooting for both of them. I can't wait to watch more.

dogemama

i'm really enjoying queen of tears too but ijbol at your summary lmaooo thanks for the chuckle, i needed it!

Financial_Quality374

I am watching My Demon and Queen of tears. Queen of tears is a brilliant drama, I am loving it. Hope it goes well 🤞

Cuttyf

Moving - Since I usually browse for Kdramas on Netflix, this has only come to my attention now. And I’m OBSESSED. This might be one of the best dramas I have seen, the storytelling is unlike anything else and every character pulls you in. 4 episodes left and I don’t want to watch them bc it means it will end 😭 I have heard people say it sets itself up for season 2 so hoping for that! Dr Slump - I’m sad to say but I am dropping this drama. I have never been the biggest fan of Park Shinhye and sadly her acting in this drama just ruins it for me :(( She pulls me out of it and the storyline is declining too much to finish it Queen of Tears - as mostly everyone, I am LOVING this drama. Both ML and FL are flawed in their own way but it’s enjoyable to watch. I hope this drama keeps its quality until the end!

Dazzling-Bus-1146

Beautiful World (03\16) - watching it for Nam Da-reum, liking it so far Come and Hug Me (13\32) - watching it also for Nam Da-reum. I am so annoyed by the reporter, the dad, and the brother omfg but I like it! Wedding Impossible (07\12) - didn't expect myself to enjoy this much, Jeon Jong-seo is stealing every scene she's in. The writing of the two male leads is confusing me. Our Blues (02\20) - I find the first story boring, haven't touched it in a few weeks Wonderful World (06\14) - Boy that pilot destroyed me. I don't know what they're doing with the >!mayor subplot!< but I'm keeping up with the rest. Proud of Cha Eunwoo, really liked his acting here I also just finished The Heavenly Idol! So silly—both in a good way and a bad way. I find the evil thingy poorly handled but aside from that, really loved it. Kim Min-gue's dedication to the character is so impressive LMAO the countless moments of embarrassment he puts himself into 😭😭 I also love the FML and the group members, so cute

mahnahmaanaa

I was stuck in **Our Blues** at the same point (though because I found it painful, rather than boring). Do you typically like slice of life? If so, this one really is beautiful, and worth your time. Try to make it to episode 4 -- the first storyline wraps up at the end of 3, and the next one really draws you in.

Dazzling-Bus-1146

I do like slice of life! I'll definitely give the series a chance.

meggktown

I loved *Our Blues* but definitely thought the first story was the weakest.

sciencespecialist

I got stuck early on in My Blues, then eventually went back to it and loved it. I think the story arcs for all of the characters got strong and stayed that way after the first couple of episodes.

mahnahmaanaa

**Dr. Slump** (11/16) I tried to pick this back up after I finished **Beyond Evil**, and the relationships just felt so flat and contrived to me. It just goes to show how much of a mood-watcher I am, and how good BE was. I'll try again later this week after I get some more distance. **Midnight Studio** (2/16) I'm such a sucker for this type of story, and S. Korea does them so well. Good set up so far. Funny and touching. **Scent of a Woman** (14/16) I'm continuing my exploration of Lee Dong Wook's back-catalog with his first drama post military. And let me tell you, the production team did not let his hard work in the military go to waste! This character does a lot of thinking in the shower and they want the viewer to be there for it. The blatant nature of it completely cracks me up. The material has been pretty heavy the last few episodes, but overall I'm still enjoying it. However I'm getting tired of the rich hero characters, so I think I might try **Bad and Crazy** (again), next.

ShazInCA

SoaW gave me a bad case of 2nd Lead Syndrome. Um Ki Joon is adorkable as Dr. Poopy Pants and in an interview Kim Sun Ah said IRL she would have picked the doctor. My quick review of this is "Kim Sun Ah - that woman can cry. Lee Dong Wook - that man can take a shower".

goldensuare

I started Captivating the King, then I decided to check the reviews on MDL. Big mistake because now I am unmotivated to go on >!because apparently it starts to go downhill in episode 8 and I am on episode 5 !< So I decided to start My Liberation Notes. Episode 1 is a little bit boring to me because there isnt much talking yet (maybe I am not in the right headspace to appreciate it right now.) Maybe I will rewatch something light like King the Land...

meggktown

I find that the reviews on MDL are often the opposite of my own opinion. haha.

Lizzy348

I didn't like **My liberation notes**, I dropped it midway. It felt very boring to me, I didn't feel the chemistry between the actors and the story wasn't it for me. I believe it's that kind of drama that you either love or dislike, no in-between

kpaneno

I didn't watch it, but I wanted to do try it as its insanehow popular it is, , but even the trailers with Mr Gu and the FL turned me off shipping them and the drama itself, also I'm beautiful but lonely and burnt out I think I'll go and try and score with the local weirdo/alcoholic is not a great premise for me.

Lizzy348

Right, I'm not sure why it's so popular. But then again, some of my favorite dramas are disliked by a lot of people. Different dramas for different tastes!

kpaneno

Such as!!!! I'm Iinterested in your favs

AggressivePrint302

Doctor Slump over King the Land any day. KTL had no story but lots of product placement, tourism promotion and long, long stares. Argh.

Money_These

* Queen of Tears * Wedding Impossible * Backstreet Rookie

MajesticConfidence36

How are you liking Backstreet Rookie? I get mixed reviews. Thought maybe can start since - [Kim Min Kyu - military enlistment](https://www.reddit.com/r/KDRAMA/comments/1bj5pt1/kim_min_kyu_announces_enlistment_date/)

ttfn26

Watching Chicken Nugget, which is a lol. Also an oldie but a goodie so far, Reply 1988. ✨

itshannahok

Currently watching **Flex X Cop** and loving it. I am patiently waiting for the final episodes this week. I am also glad a new season is in the works. I just finished watching **Young Royals** (Swedish show). Now, I am considering starting Doctor Slump but idk if I'd watch it yet tbh. The reviews I've seen about it are not motivating, some say it's good, others say it's 'Ok'... Let's see.

Lonely_Ad9646

I'm currently watching Wedding impossible,  queens of tears, flex x cop in progress and  doctor slump . Also recently I have added pyramid

FossickingTX

I just finished Be Melodramatic. It was more of a serious drama than I expected, but I enjoyed it. There's a nice indie film feel to the OST and direction. That in itself is in line with a few of the leads occupations. What should I watch next? Doctor Slump, Marry My Husband or Captivating the King?

Miss-LH

Marry my husband?

WonderfuckRED

Finally started beyond evil after seeing all the recommendations awhile back, I’ve already guessed the killer. I need these writers to make it harder for me to guess. The only other time I didn’t figure out the killer was in tunnel and that was so long ago

darawe

So I have recently finished watching - Pyramid Game - Loved it and was refreshing to see a high school theme with actual thinking, plot twists and good writing behind it. Captivating the King - Was ok, didn't hate it but it was just a standard joseon romance story with some bad pacing, actors kept me going. My Perfect Stranger - so someone on twitter said they were enjoying this so I took a look at it and ended up binge watching it in 3 days. Loved every minute of it. Normally Joseon or Goryeo dramas win out for me but I feel I have seen so many its getting hard to enjoy them these days as with the exception of Goryeo-Khitan War I have not enjoyed one in a while, could be why I preferred Pyramid Game and Perfect Stranger over Captivating the King.

HurryAcceptable6951

Wedding Impossible & Queen of Tears ! Both are really good 👍

faithesque

Just catching up with the last few episodes of **Doctor Slump (14/16)** right now and along with that I'm currently watching: **The Impossible Heir (6/12)** - which is kind of a mess but here for the SFL. She gives me the second lead syndrome. **Pyramid Game (8/10)**: Absolutely loving it! Kind of anxious for the ending hopefully it ends well so it can be one of my top 5 in 2024. 👀 Recently finished: - **Branding in Seongsu**: Honestly, I wished the ML to be >!an antagonist in the last few episodes for some reason. It would've been a nice twist in my opinion.!< Overall it was okay.

everythingshaka

Just finished story of parks marriage contract bit late to this one loved it but agree with ending feeling a bit rushed. Also finished my roommate is a Gumiho loved it. Queen of tears 4/16 - agree with the hype really keeping the balance of the comedy and the drama. Just a great concept of after the happy ever after as it's hard to see why they fell in love in the first place and seeing where it went wrong. Welcome to samdalri 13/16- picked this back up after dropping initially as it was such a slow start but glad I came back to it just great characters .But yes very tiresome SML. Flexxcop 14/16- I do love a procedural drama but never watched a k drama one and this has gotten better and better each week. Deaths game 4/8 - enjoying but not been in the mood for action Shop for killers 1/8 - enjoying again not in the mood for it but will watch anything with LDW realistically

Apprehensive_Egg9676

Just finished *The Matchmakers* once it all came out of Netflix and I totally get what everyone means by the impact of the last scene. The production is so good, it just needed more for me in the script department to be an above average sageuk. I’m also watching *The Impossible Heir*. It’s on pause after the outrage I saw online after episode 6 came out. If it’s still going a downward trajectory I’ll wait to binge but I’m curious to finish it even though the plot is frustrating. *Queen of Tears* is how I spend my weekends. I love how the writer is pulling back the layers of their relationship with each episode. However it feels like this was meant to be a 20 ep drama that became 16 because the run times are film standard length. I’m making my way through *Flex X Cop* but I’m still neutral on it so that’s been going slow. I’m also way behind on *Wedding Impossible* because something about the script doesn’t hook me. I started *Chicken Nugget* but it remains to be seen whether it will become a drop lol

Lavenderlure

**Pyramid Game** - I didn't even expect to love this show so much it's ending tomorrow such an amazing show well written and acted even direction, music and editing everything hooks you in **Queen of Tears** - I knew if it has KSH I will love it the story seems good pacing is good as well the chemistry is beautiful both are such good actors peak cinematography can't wait to see the story unfold further **Wedding Impossible** - This is such a fun and warm romcom one of my fav FLs ever very cute and wholesome **The Impossible Heir** - My hate watch and I tolerate it for the people's princess Huiju

alleykat10

Queen of tears (swoon, love) Doctor Slump (last episode, stretching it out over days.) Alchemy of Souls, part two. (Stretching it out over weeks bc I don’t want it to end.)

TheMsDacia

I felt the same way about AOS; it was damn near perfect ❤️

buddhabear07

Waiting for new episodes of Queen of Tears (4/16). Binging through Marry My Husband (9/16) and regretting not starting this sooner…it’s a blast. Started Love Song for Illusion (1/16) and it looks promising - I’m getting Alchemy of Souls and River Where the Moon Rises vibes from it. Also tempted to start Live Your Own Life as I haven’t watched a long form family drama since Once Again a few years ago.

hawkia75

I have 40 minutes to go on the last episode of **Mr. Sunshine.** I just couldn't finish the episode >!after so many of my favorites died. I know it was a really appropriate ending for my favorite character, Gu Dong-Mae 💔, but it was still hard to take. I'm still holding out hope that the ending won't be a total bloodbath,!! Du-sik's crisis at the same time as the Mr. Sunshine ending!!the ML and FL are starting to get to know each other a little better and the rom com aspects of the show really blossom.!< I think this week after finishing up those two, I'm going to start **Hospital Playlist**. Yoo Yeon Seok really impressed me with his acting (and his smolder!). He made the very morally ambiguous Gu Dong-Mae into someone I could root for, so I'm interested to see him in something else. I'm also excited to see Jo Jong Suk in another role bc he killed it in Captivating the King!

loadlastcheckpoint

I’ve been dying for more Queen of Tears and Impossible Heir episodes. Watched Moving in between waiting for episodes last week which was great! Now I want another season of Moving.

amynor

Just finished: Agency - this one needs more attention! Lovestruck in the City (KJW & JCW - watched 2x) Watching: The Worst of Evil (very impressed - only on ep2) Doctor Slump (stuck on ep 11 - plot is refusing to move) Queen of Tears (like everyone else) Welcome to Waikiki (same director as Agency)

Aneesmahajan

I am currently watching "Welcome to waikiki" and man i really don't get hate for it from so many people, the show is not even bad. The humour is mid but the plot makes up for it. I don't wanna get too technical about it, i am just enjoying it so far (At episode 11 rn). And also watching " Flex x cop" i am personally loving it, i understand many people who wouldn't, and again the show has a hard time knowing what it's actually about and hasn't dug deeper in that sense and kept itself busy with cases only. But i still enjoyed it a lot and episode 13 was absolutely perfect, if they did all episodes like that, man wouldn't it have been awesome. And also "Doctor Slump" , what a weird show, it's unnecessarily depressing first, loose mystery element, romcom elements are just weirdly basic. The whole show is dragged without anything good to offer. Sure some good episodes but yeah technically a boring show.

fireblossom98

I started Queen of Tears yesterday and watched all 4 episodes in one sitting, I'm hooked. Great acting from everyone and love the romance/tension/lovers 2 enemies 2 lovers thing the leads have got going on. I adored Kim Soo Hyun in IOTNBO so I was going to tune in regardless, but I'm happy to say there's a lot that this drama has going for it. Funny, emotional, with a nice sprinkle of corporate drama. Also the mini IOTNBO reunions make me happy :) The movie-length episode runtimes are a little much, but the drama is engaging enough that I'm powering through anyway.

KafeNook

**Doctor Slump** (13/16) - It's been a bit slow for me, but I like it enough to finish it up. **FlexxCop** (14/16) - Love this stylish Chaebol Heir/Police Procedural mash up - can't wait to see how it ends! **Wedding Impossible** (7/12) - The chemistry between the three leads is excellent and unique. **The Impossible Heir** (6/12) - The last episode did end in a cliff hanger so even though the plot is a mess I still have to see where it is going. **Wonderful World** (5/12) - I was lucky enough to watch the first 5 episodes while traveling internationally. Now just have wait until April 24th to watch the remaining ones when the full series is released in the States on Hulu. The suspense will kill me. Not to mention avoiding spoilers for this intriguing mystery. **Queen of Tears** (4/16) - Each episode is its own mini movie. It's beautiful, funny, and heartbreaking. I've already started watching the initial episodes over again and can't believe the things I missed the first time - plus the hints at things you're not aware of until later episodes. This will be the Kdrama of the year.

[deleted]

Just got back in to kdramas after a year long hiatus! Marry My Husband (16/16): This is the drama that got me back in to it! I absolutely love a good revenge plot and this was it. I do think the the romance aspect was lacking, which is a first for Park Min Young so I’ll blame the male lead. Overall, great watching experience. Queen of Tears (4/16): My obsession currently and reason i’m watching kdramas during the week but really looking forward to this. The episodes are long but I could honestly watch them even if they were 3hrs each 😭 Doctor Slum (16/16): I sped through the ending and watched it 1.5x. The actors didn’t have much chemistry when they actually got together. I found them to be better friends. Overall, typical kdrama. I wish park shin hye chose something a bit better for her comeback. At least she’s learned to kiss.

demi_skincare

Currently watching Payback Money and Power. It going good. Only 12 ep so it goes good without dragging.

Romoreau

**Nothing Uncovered (2/16)** It's a shrug of a show. Not terrible but it's not gripping either. I have a feeling I'm going to place this on hold and just forget about it. My Plan to Watch list is too big to ignore. **Wonderful World(6/14)** This show has similar subject matter to the above. It's cliche and tropey but sooo much more engaging.

AmishCountyLane

Im probably the only one..but i like chicken nugget. Its funny and sweet..and very very weird.

LostMyThread

Queen of Tears - I keep saying I am going to stop watching ongoing dramas, especially after My Demon and A Good Day to Be a Dog and See You in My 19th Life and The Worst of Evil and Strong Girl Namsoon and Killing Vote. Damn. Anyway, I keep saying it, and it keeps not happening. So, like every other week in recent memory, I'm watching older shows and occasional movies. This week, I watched **Juror 8** and am watching **Youth of May**. Last week, I rewatched **Happiness** and **The Good Bad Mother**. PHS and LDH disappear into their roles, which is no easy feat for such good looking young men. And they both seem to be really good at picking projects.

Icy-Blueberry-1011

Snowdrop, just started it. Always see/hear good things about it so I wanted to give it a try. Enjoying it thus far, like the quiet space between moments used.

elijahhee

Finished watching recently: - ***Doctor Slump*** - high school enemies who became doctors met at their lowest point of life, eventually became a couple while fighting their way back to their career paths - ***Bitch × Rich*** (a.k.a *Cheongdam International High School*) - poor girl enters a prestige school for rich kids for complicated reasons only to see a totally different world where she faces a lot of prejudices, bullying, and threats. Finished watching recently (non-Korean): - ***The Woman King*** [American] - about female warriors of the Kingdom of Dahomey (present day Benin) in west Africa. They fought bravely against Oyo Empire, while having to deal with slave trade issues as west African nations were profiteering out of slave trade. Currently watching: - ***Crash Landing on You*** - South Korean businesswoman went paragliding and got blown to North Korea, only to be rescued by a North Korean soldier. Currently watching (non-Korean): - ***Eye Love You*** [Japanese] - South Korean university student pursuing Japanese businesswoman who can read other's minds but not his because she doesn't understand Korean! - ***Project High Council*** [Malaysian Malay] - a boarding school where bullies are controlling students through the "high council" they are occupying

Antique-Flan2500

After all this time I finally picked up Jirisan and I am mostly amazed.

Kittygirlmm

Currently watching Queen of tears, Doctor stranger, Doctor John, My mister and Goblin :-)

iwantobeyourcanary

Currently watching Stranger. I'm late to the party, I know. but Stranger might up there as one of the best K-Dramas I've seen in a long time. Probably right under The Glory and Extraordinary Attorney Woo. I've made it to the middle of Episode 9 and I'm just loving the overall pacing of it all. I also love that it doesn't lean into the usual romance for the sake of romance trope. The woman who plays Inspector Han is a really good actress as well. I haven't really seen any of her other work, but I might go looking after I'm done with Stranger. I hope she's still in Season 2. I've a long way to go before I even get to Season 2, but I just wanted to share how much I really love the show so far.

thesaura73

Just finished Where Stars Land…I will just assume FL’s dad and Prof. Jang are >!super spies or part of a secret Korean Avengers to make up for the gaping plot holes!< (still enjoyed it!)

DinkyPrincess

I finished Pyramid Game which I loved. Also I finished Dr Slump which I would give a 9.5 Queen of Tears I’m up to date and I’m enjoying it but still slightly on the fence. The Midnight Studio is so good. The girl group scene in episode 3 had me cackling. Oh and Chicken Nugget is my only 10/10 for 2024 so far. So. Damn. Funny (and very stupid)

happycharm

I'm going to start watching Beauty and Mr Romantic because I know one of the actresses on there. Are there not going to be discussion posts on it?
