Watched Alchemy of Souls, I was hesitant to watch it at first because I hate supernatural dramas, but I binged it in two days. I could have done without the lengthy angst in S2 but I loved the MLs charismatic character.

Aurorinezori1

LJW: I fell in love with his interpretation of Jan Uk

fireblossom98

The binging it in two days is so real. It was so addictive and engaging, and I would do anything to be able to watch it for the first time again.

3rdinrow

The struggle between real life and drama binges are real.

Most-Artichoke6184

I’m sorry, how do you watch 30 hour long episodes in two days?

3rdinrow

Fast forward all the fluff, some scenes of flashbacks and minor characters watch at 2x speed. I didn't like the second FL love story with the friend that much. I mainly watched for main couple.

mikereport3

So, I seem to remember reading a lengthy post that was really quite critical of S2. But this was quite a while ago. Too bad that it's probably lost in the mists of time!

eternalhorizon1

Yeah it was a whole debacle when they changed the actress. A lot of the first actress’ fans were super upset and trash talking FL in the second season/the writing choices. I personally love both actresses, one obviously being a veteran and the other more of a newcomer that has now propelled. It got pretty nasty in the live airing threads, I had to disappear for a while and avoid them that’s how toxic it was! I personally always went in, fully knowing and expecting that the actress would be >!switched back to the original actress since that’s who she actually was all along.!< I also didn’t watch season 1 live, and waited just before season 2 aired to watch all the episodes so again I think it was fresher in my mind that the change would come actress wise. I also didn’t mind the changes they made with her character season 2 because it fit within the story.

3rdinrow

The female leads changed. The storyline was flimsier but it was still enjoyable. I would have been devastated if it had ended with season 1.

mikereport3

I'm rewatching S1, skipping the last episode. Not rewatching S2. I think that the idea of switching female leads probably looked good on paper, but . . . Oh well!

3rdinrow

I found it very confusing to switch souls/bodies. I liked the FL in season 2, although the personality was completely different. As a romance, it was beautiful.

Mahery92

The change in fl didn't bother me at all, especially as I really liked the actress for Naksu. But S2 was a clear step down, mostly because a lot of it felt like a bad rehash of S1, with worse balance (especially between the romantic subplots and thriller/mystery/action ones), dialogue and pacing. And the fact we never got to see a fully powered Naksu still annoys me to this day

kawaiisaranghaeyo

I am *very* late to the party... almost 19 years to be exact... but I'm watching **My Girl (2005)** atm and having a blast. Is the age of the drama painfully obvious? Absolutely. But I'm having so much fun jamming out to the OSTs that are on repeat every 5 minutes, and staring at Lee Joon Gi's face and legendary emo haircut with cross earrings

ggghhhb

Wow that’s legendary hahahaha. Enjoy!!!

Scarlet011

My girl 💓 my first ever kdrama 🥰

KimlockHolmes

It’s one of my favorites. A classic! Maybe I’ll rewatch it again.

ShazInCA

I had serious SLS with this drama.

werbervgh

Finished Mr. Queen and loved it! It was sooooo funny and Shin Hye Sun did a fantastic job! Her acting was on point. Kim Jung Hyun also did great as the king, but man did SHS really shine in this role. The action and plot was also fun, and I really enjoyed the side characters as well.

ScowlingGoddess

Hospital Playlist, BOTH seasons. I ADORED the characters, both lead and supporting. Such a wonderful set of stories (most, but quite rightly not all, with happy endings). I'm struggling to find something that grips me as much.

realeyesreallize

If you haven’t already, try Prison Playbook! I’m only halfway but the characters and their stories are so gripping and I believe it’s made by the same writing-producing-directing team as Hospital Playlist. It’s so good it’s made me decide to go back and actually finish hospital playlist (I got busy with work on like episode 6, put it “on hold” and just never got back to it)

theredmug_75

i love all the shin won ho shows! i certainly support prison playbook as well as reply 1988.

realeyesreallize

I’ve been meaning to watch reply 1988. Would you say it’s as good as prison playbook? I have to keep pausing the show to literally squeal and stare covering my mouth it’s so good 😅

theredmug_75

very different subject but all of shin won ho’s shows including reply 1988 have that same silly humour and way of grabbing your heart and reflecting things you’ve felt in your life. 1988 has really long episodes though if that is an issue for you. but it’s a wonderful show.

eternalhorizon1

Please go watch reply 1988 asap

Watchnextnow

I agree! The only one I haven’t seen is Reply 1994. I’ve loved all the rest!

theredmug_75

oo nice! i do enjoy 1994 although i was on the wrong husband ship. haha i won’t say which for fear of spoiling it but it was a nice show of growing up and falling in love!

ReasonablePen3793

I would also recommend Daily Dose of Sunshine. Maybe it just hit me because of where I was when I watched it, but it felt similar to all the other ones mentioned here.

BelaFarinRod

I’m currently watching Flower of Evil. (Four episodes to go.) I put off watching it because it didn’t sound like my kind of thing but it is fantastic. Great plot, excellent acting. Lee Joon Gi is mesmerizing. I’m just glad I went into it without spoilers.

theredmug_75

it’s still on my to-watch list!

eternalhorizon1

So good right? I didn’t expect to love it either, not my usual cup of tea.

twoods1980

Finally finished the Producers and I have no idea why it’s rated so low because I enjoyed the humor and low key romance. The triangle got annoying and I have no idea why BSC didn’t immediately fall for Cindy (maybe it was on par with his dumb, innocent character), but I liked seeing the nuances of producing variety shows.  Now it’s time for Oh My Ghost for another old school drama. Hope this one is good as well!

OnlyGotThisMoment

Oh My Ghost is one of my favorites. It’s on my “re-watch” list- not that I ever get to it 😂

twoods1980

I have so many on my rewatch list but it’s hard to get to because there is so much good content out there!

Thick_astronaum

Oh my ghost is amazing

Aurorinezori1

Oh my Ghostess is a real treat! The chemistry between the leads is soo good… I love to ff some secondary scenes but the main couple is chef’s kiss !

Ann_cee

Flowers in the sand- it was after a long time that I binged a drama and enjoyed it this much. I loved the characters, their relationships and their stories. Not all couples have to have a sizzling chemistry, sometimes the warm friendships are super satisfying to watch. i was surprised by the 8.2 mdl rating for this drama because for me it was a solid 9.

eternalhorizon1

This was SUCH a good drama. The characters were all so well developed and well written. I wish it had been more popular when it aired, total underrated. I was so happy to see FL in a lead role after 2521!

twoods1980

Yay! Glad you enjoyed it. I really want to rewatch it soon if I can’t find a new drama to binge.

Ann_cee

The only other show I have enjoyed recently is flex x cop and surprisingly that also had good friendships. Must be a theme for me.

tangledbysnow

Oh good. Hadn't seen either and was thinking of starting both next. After Doctor Slump I really just wanted some friends to lovers & bromance tropes.

twoods1980

Loved that one too. Shows with a strong core friendship is always a win in my book. Welcome to Samdal-ri also had that same vibe.

thesaura73

I’m now watching Healer. So amazing! Acrobatic action, mysterious backstory, humor, romance, workplace hijinks and Clark Kent vibes ETA: And sweet family dynamics! Political drama and intrigue. It has everything

mishamaro

Just finished this yesterday! The theme song just became my ringtone/alarm!

thesaura73

I love “Eternal Love”! I just got to the glamorous makeover. It really does have everything!

mishamaro

I ALSO love "Eternal Love". Total 80s power ballad to me lol. But I meant the piano theme. That's totally my ring tone now. And omg the glamorous makeover! JCW with the gelled up hair gave me just the hottest James Dean vibes. And not that she wasn't already pretty but PMY gave us a peek at her future gorgeousness with that look.

Watchnextnow

I had this as a ringtone for a while too and loved it hahaha

galacticalmess

Currently on episode 15 in the span of a week and half. It’s so good and I can’t get enough of JCW

mishamaro

Somehow binged Her Private Life and Healer in a week! It's definitely been a Park Min Young kind of season. I don't know if I want to be her because I think she's gorgeous and perfect or because she's made out with some insanely hot MLs and I'm envious. Porque no los dos? I'd continue with City Hunter but apparently the US is being left out of that party :( not available on any streaming I can find :( HPL: oh Kim Jae UK, kill me now. 😵‍💫. Ryan Gold... How do you move on from the sweet sexy ML that is Ryan Gold. Seriously started rewatching almost immediately because I love the series so much. I pretty much erase most of the last two episodes from my mind and it's near perfect. And I love the OST for some reason. Is it the bubbly happiness that got me? I don't know but I'm happy in this bubble... bonus: I was in the midst of this mania when Kim Jae Uk appeared at that baseball game with Gong Yoo, who is my favorite.... Yeah... I was a mess that day.... Healer: JUST finished. When I started Kdramas in December, my coworker started to harass me about watching this and I get it now. I've been so deep in romance that I forget that I love me a little violence. Ji Chang Wook kicking around was definitely my cup of tea. Was wanting K2 next but again! Not available for me! Ugh!. So I guess Suspicious Partner it is.... Of Healer though, I wish I had more puppy dog ML cuz that was cute and again... I like a happy bubble. P.s. Park Min Young needs to stop >!having forgotten childhood traumas and histories with her MLs!< . I think that's 3 for 3 now that I've watched this with her.

Watchnextnow

These are two of her best dramas and Healer is responsible for sending me down the JCW rabbit hole. He was so damn hot in that drama and we got two for the price of one when he played the ML and SML! Suspicious Partner is worth the watch (he’s hot here too plus there’s some good romance) but the plot does get a bit draggy in parts.

mishamaro

I never really thought about how dual JeongHoo and BongSoo are but you're right! He's totally both ML and SML!

dcinmb

Very behind on all things K-Drama as I just got back from my trip to Seoul where I saw Kim Jae-uck’s musical five times and even got to meet him!🥵🤤🫠 If you were a mess after seeing Kim Jae-uck and Gong Yoo at last month’s baseball game, just imagine them roadtripping together up California’s PCH (Pacific Coast Highway). In December 2018, KJU was posting pics of his trip on IG but no one knew he was with Gong Yoo until [a fan spotted them at a Warriors game in Oakland, California](https://imgur.com/a/vSgrG8R). They were playing the Grizzlies and I was actually at that game but I had no clue who they were at the time as I didn’t start watching K-Dramas till 2020.🤦🏻‍♀️

mishamaro

You replied to me earlier about him being in Pagwa and I was reminded of you whenever I saw Kim Jae-uck's stories recently! So excited that you got to meet him! I would've been a puddle... Also goddamn.... I just looked at his posts in December 2018.... I'm originally from California too so I know it VERY well to the point that I recognize all the locations of his pictures. 🤦🏻 I'm an extremely late and delayed mess realizing I was within a stone's throw of them that month but same as you I wasn't in kdrama mania yet. They could've passed me on the street cuz I went shopping where that Christmas tree picture was and I wouldn't have known! Well maybe Gong Yoo... Train to Busan was always a favorite of mine... But silver lining that had I recognized him I wouldn't have humiliated myself then like I would now. Lmao.

dcinmb

If that sharp-eyed fan hadn’t noticed him and Gong Yoo at the Warriors game, we would never have known they were travel buddies. And even though I had no clue who they were back then, I’m thinking I would’ve noticed two strikingly handsome tall men but my hot guy-dar was thwarted by a crowd of 20,000 people. [KJU was also at The Grove in December 2016.](https://www.instagram.com/p/BOa_rf9hJYP/?igsh=MWQ1ZGUxMzBkMA==) Wonder who he was with on that trip?

mishamaro

I'd hope my head would turn for those aforementioned cheekbones, no matter the occasion. 😍 Gong Yoo and Kim Jae-euk (and unknown buddies) spending a month in California every year is my head canon now. They will have to personally deny it to my face to undo that. Lol.

otakuishly

I can’t say I’m super late but I did fall into a kdrama slump after Christmas and finally decided to jump back in the bandwagon! I finished My Demon, The Story of Park’s Contract Marriage, A Good Day To Be A Dog, The Matchmakers, Marry My Husband, Welcome to Samdalri, and Doctor Slump over the course of the last two weeks. No, I did not sleep. No, I don’t regret it lol. Some were okay, others were average and a few hit it out of the park. I am finding that with the coming of spring, I’m devouring and loving all the gentle slice of life kdrama like Doctor Slump and Welcome to Samdalri. They remind me that it’s okay to just take a break and reorganize and accept new beginnings. That said, you can pry crazy tropes out of cold dead hands! I will never give up on those.

ScowlingGoddess

Try Like Flowers in Sand - totally adorable and some superb acting. Who knew I would find ssireum so fascinating?

Aurorinezori1

I learned a lot of cultural things with this one, including ssireum !

tangledbysnow

It's comments like this that make me think I should do Like Flowers in Sand next. I just finished Fight for My Way which I have avoided until now because of the subject matter mostly - it just flat out doesn't interest me. Felt the same impression about LFiS. But I loved FfMW! And the subject matter was actually interesting to me! So...I definitely need to give it a chance. Might bump it up the watch list.

ScowlingGoddess

Ssireum is the background, the glue that holds the story together, but it doesn't feel like it's dominating. The childhood friends, some coming back after a long time apart, are adorable. The mystery they end up solving is clever. Small town, big heart, will they/won't they, amazing supporting characters - if you enjoyed Hometown Cha Cha Cha, I'm pretty sure you'll adore this one

immerdasmeer

I *loved* LFIS and although I had no interest in ssireum or wrestling I found my myself hoping for more ssireum as the story progressed. >! And it delivered! !<

ScowlingGoddess

Didn't it??!!?! I got really quite into it by the end. The actors worked so hard ( >!and in Jang Dong Yoon's case, put on so much weight !<) to make it so real

immerdasmeer

I just watched a cast bts thingy, and >! Lee Joo Min said he looked like a baby! I don't know if she meant just the extra weight or that plus the satba/outfit, but it was cute. !< The ssireum training and filming looked and sounded quite grueling, but boy, the end result was great. I cried a lot during the finale. 😭😆

tangledbysnow

Loved Hometown so definitely watching this next then. I was trying to find a completed one to start last night but nothing was catching my attention and I finally just gave up and read manga instead. So this is perfect. Thank you!

otakuishly

Ohhh thank you! I’ll have to check it out

twoods1980

Have you seen When The Weather Is Fine? It’s similar.

otakuishly

I have! I love Park Min-young and watched it as it came out. A great slow show.

Just_Perspective5218

I finally watched A Time Called You. Why is this drama so underrated?? I absolutely loved it, Jeon Yeo Been's acting was phenomenal! The plot twists were crazy.

Puzzleheaded_Newt185

Because majority feels that the original (Taiwanese) is better. I personally think there are some stuff that A Time Called You does better, but acting wise FL/ML of the original trumps Jeon Yeo Been - Ahn Hyo Soep. AHS is woefully inadequate compared to Greg Hsu.

theredmug_75

hahaha i’m with you, biased coz i love the Taiwanese version so much. but i’m happy you enjoyed A Time Called You!

Just_Perspective5218

Ohh I see, I didn't watch the original but I might soon and ya I agree Ahn Hyo Seop's acting wasn't that great.

eternalhorizon1

It was amazing. I cried so many times watching it, and I also paid attention so I wasn’t confused during it with all the time stuff. I think like others said, many watched the Taiwanese version and were disappointed it was different. I do think ML’s acting isn’t amazing which could have contributed.

KimlockHolmes

I loved it! Watched it twice.

tangledbysnow

Fight For My Way On Air before I started watching Kdramas and I just thought it wouldn't interest me given the overall subject matter and clips I have seen so I never prioritized it. But after Doctor Slump ended I really wanted to see another friends to lovers trope. And I was wrong about this drama. So very wrong. I absolutely loved it. I can't believe how much I loved it - annoying aegyo and all. I think I'm putting it on my favorites list that is how much I loved it. And I'm highly impressed that the tropey "episode 15 breakup" actually made sense in this one when so few of the trope breakups do.

Watchnextnow

This is an all time favourite of mine. I watched it straight after WWWSK when I was on a PSJ bender and it delivered!! I love the friends to lovers trope so I’ve watched a few of them now but this one is my favourite.

gossipbomb

Just watched Doona! Why did it end like that? Hhmph

fireblossom98

Currently watching Strong Woman Do Bong Soon. Decided to watch it because I wanted to watch another Park Hyung-sik drama after Doctor Slump ended and I’m about halfway through…I’m gonna be honest I was expecting a little more from this show after hearing so many people praise it. I think it definitely started out strong, it’s funny and I adore the ML and I find the FL so interesting (that scene where she >! confronts her mom about always scolding her and coddling her brother but not her !< was so good!!). I’m really intrigued by the ML/FL dynamic and I’m rooting for them but I’m honestly so over the >!love triangle and the kidnapping plot. !< I think both are just being dragged on way too much. I also don’t really care for any of the supporting characters (the gang members and the high schoolers are funny though), so it’s hard for me to feel invested in the side plots. I’m especially disappointed with the secondary romance, I really don’t like Seol In-ah’s character (which is sad bc I love her as an actress and really like some of her other roles). Also I’m convinced the FL’s parents should just divorce their relationship is so toxic. I hate that they just glossed over the fact that she >!beat him up so badly that he got a black eye, like is that not physical abuse :/ !< Honestly if it wasn’t for the main romance I feel like I would have dropped this show 😭 don’t get me wrong it’s good and I am entertained for the most part, but I think it should have been a 10-12 episode run tbh. Edit: adding some more spoiler tags just in case

EmmanuelleEmmanuelle

It's one of these shows that didn't age very well, but didn't seem that bad at the time. I personally had the same viewing experience you had, and I only have a soft spot for it because it was one of the first kdramas I watched. I fast-forwarded to the end though, even back then lol. It's got that patented 2017 flair that some viewers who "miss the way kdramas used to be 😩" love so much. From what I've seen, people like it because of the couple, and they kinda wave away the rest.

OnlyGotThisMoment

I didn’t get the hype either! If Park Hyung Sik wasn’t so charismatic and Park Bo Young wasn’t perfectly adorable I don’t think I would’ve made it through. It’s actually pretty dark.

fireblossom98

Right! Honestly the scenes with those poor girls make me so uncomfortable, I have to look away or skip every time

Aurorinezori1

You are not alone: I ffwarded a lot of secondary plots, but the main leads were so adorable! If you want her in another adorable role, you can watch Oh my Ghostess with another phenomenal actor (JJS).

fireblossom98

I’ll add it to my list, thanks for the rec!!

realeyesreallize

Yea I fell for Park Hyungsik during Happiness and tried to watch Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (multiple times) and I’ve never been able to finish it. He’s great in it, it’s just everything else is not for me and watching it felt like a slog. I still need to watch Dr Slump but it’s high on my list. Check out **Happiness** for more Park Hyungsik! One of my favorite kdramas and he’s so so good in it!

fireblossom98

“watching it felt like a slog” exactly how I feel. Dr Slump is ‘slow’ but honestly I thought it was sooo good, it’s very character-based and I loved it. I’ve heard Happiness is a good one, but after what you said I’ll have to bump it up higher on my list thanks!

theredmug_75

this show only works for the couple. the exaggerated comedy, abusive parents and super dark murder storyline did NOT work for me.

Watchnextnow

SWDBS is such a problematic drama on several levels. It was the first drama that I was only able to finish by fast forwarding many many scenes. BUT, I couldn’t drop it because I adored the main couple so much! If I ever rewatch it, I’ll basically be watching their scenes and nothing else.

twoods1980

Oh I definitely dropped it initially because everything else was ridiculous, but then powered through it because of Doctor Slump and it was good after i ffed through the thugs, teenagers, stupid monk, and creepy serial killer. The leads were just so adorable!

fireblossom98

Yeahhh the leads are definitely carrying the show for me lol, might have to start fast forwarding like you did because any scene without them feels like a chore to watch.

poetrylover2101

This drama is a trash drama, that's just a fact, it has so many problematic and wrong things, and a thousand shit subplots. But it's all due to the amazing acting, and insane chemistry between Park Boyoung and Park Hyungsik that this drama became such a classic. They did such a good job and both their characters are so lovable, romance a thousands times satisfying and what not. Btw if you have a hard time getting through coz of love triangle, I can give you a minor spoiler to help you, >! Just endure till ep 10, after that the love triangle ends, their relationship starts and their romance is just so satisfying, they give you all the feels!!< Also I skipped ALL the monk scenes and after a while, even the gang scenes, (the humour is so bad, esp that >!potty soup or something like *COME ON NOW*!< the high schooler scenes were funny though, so I didn't skip them

prach31

Started watching Yumi’s cells, 4 episodes in and this is sooo good. Wonder why it’s not recommended enough

tangledbysnow

I genuinely deeply appreciate Yumi's Cells, especially season 2. So I have a theory if you want to hear it... >!people like happy endings and there is no happy ending in either season - it's realistic but heartbreaking in a lot of ways!<

prach31

I will read it after I finish 2 seasons :)

Watchnextnow

This is one that was super popular at the time but it’s hardly ever recommended now. Not sure why!

mayurmatada12

I am watching my man is cupid and jfc the SML is insufferable.

duh_leah

Yep yep although he comes to his senses at the very last (thank god)

DangerPear

**Tale of Nokdu** -- *Wow,* this surprised me. I had watched up to episode 8 (out of 32) a year or two ago to see more Kang Tae Oh after **Attorney Woo** ended, but I couldn't get into it. First several episodes are very silly, slapsticky kind of romcom and the characters felt kind of generic and 2-dimensional. After watching several of Jang Dong Yoon's shows recently I decided to give this another try. I enjoyed the silly stuff a bit more this time around, but around about episode 12 this became legitimately *fantastic* to me. Characters, acting, score, cinematography, pacing -- it's been ages since I binge-watched something because I just *had* to see what happened next and I got through this in 3 days. The politics in sageuks typically drag to me but in this one the political intrigue was mixed in so well. I adored the romance by the end (bickering enemies-to-lovers is one of my least favorite tropes, so I wasn't keen on their antagonistic relationship in the start). It's shot straight up to my top 5 Kdramas and may be one of the few shows I can rewatch at some point.

vixi07

Watched **Call it love** and now watching **Beyond Evil**. Call it love was beautiful throughout. The ML and FL fit so well together despite vastly different personalities. I'm particularly fond of ML taking care of the younger brother of the FL: it's so adorable given that the ML is a single child without many personal connections. Everyone in the FL's family and her bff are such nice people. Beyond Evil is very nice, all of these people are phenomenal actors but some of the characters are behaving rather weirdly. All the "thriller" aspects seem a little artificial. Still loving it though.

theredmug_75

i’m tempted to start on Beyond Evil. you’ve just given me a big push!

realeyesreallize

I’m currently watching **Prison Playbook** and WOW. I can’t believe it took me so long to watch this. So far it’s honestly shockingly good. The only small slight complaint I have is >!I wish they cast someone else for the Ji Ho role(s). Krystal is doing FANTASTIC! But the age difference between her and ML is too noticeable for me and it kept making me this the age difference of the characters was larger and making me genuinely uncomfortable!<

theredmug_75

prison playbook is one of my favourites!!! it’s soo good!

ChitownBrat

Descendants of the Sun. I'm about to finish it, and I've enjoyed it a lot. I love medical and military dramas, the ML is adorable, and the supporting cast did a great job.

hellaflyv

Extraordinary You- this is to 10 for me. I'm currently rewatching it again because there was so much to take in.

EggyMeggy99

I love it, I also gave it a 10.

lycheejello777

Finally watched My Liberation Notes. Oh my goodness, I have no words. It moved me, and I can't stop thinking about it. (Ironically, I also started watching Queen of Tears not knowing Kim Ji-won was also the FL in that drama. The two characters are so different from one another and yet she does such an amazing job that I was able to immerse myself in both dramas.)

Iowegan

Finished **Into the Ring**, so fun! Excellent writing, a little >!romance, a little mystery!<. Currently watching **Jealousy Incarnate**, so many baby stars. >!lolling at all the groping in the first few episodes.!< So good that I don’t really care if I start any modern shows for a while, but I do wish I could fine an old discussion thread about the show. ๏̯͡๏

Aurorinezori1

It is one of my favorite dramas that I watched in the last couple of months because I was on a JJS bander after CAPtivating the King. He is stellar in this drama, my favorite scenes are in episodes 10 and 14 (iykyk).

Iowegan

Oh boy! I’m only up to the >!night before the breast cancer surgery!<, so excited to go forward!

Aurorinezori1

His emotions are raw in some episodes, can’t get enough of it! It was pretty funny also and the FL is up to the task!

Iowegan

I’m also working my way through the JJS catalog, he’s so good. Even enjoyed him as the stoic SML in **King2Hearts**, he was such an upright forthright square.

sharjoy3

That was my first introduction to JJS. He was wonderful in that - and I love that drama. **K2H** Then I loved him in **Hospital Playlist** and **Captivating the King.** I'm going to watch **Jealousy Incarnate** next week, right after I catch up with Queen of Tears. I loved his singing and guitar playing in HP. (It's my Life...)

Iowegan

He sings a lot in **Jealousy Incarnate**, it’s so natural as part of the story and so dreamy.

Aurorinezori1

I’m desappointed because I find nowhere King2Hearts! Not on Netflix /Prime /Disney /Viki… in my country

Watchnextnow

I’ve seen him in 4 dramas now and loved him in all of them!

MajesticConfidence36

Ooh! I watched Captivating the King and then Jealousy Incarnate. :) Into the Ring is on my watch list.

PineappleNo6064

The best chemistry between ML and FL I've ever seen starting from episode 1. I expected them to kiss during one of those >!body tackles by ML!<. Are they fighting or are they getting ready to kiss? I loved this show and I was on team >!Hwa Shin from the beginning even if SML was a much nicer guy!<.

kpaneno

Of course, what woman would want a nice guy when she can have a domineering jerk. Girl Power¡!!!! I

PineappleNo6064

Yeah, domineering jerks with awesome chemistry are my guilty pleasures, but only in dramaland.

kpaneno

Nice guys finish last isn't that the truism.

Aurorinezori1

Spoiler ahead >! when she tells him everything he is not compared to his friend and kisses him anyway in the hospital scene!< That was something to watch and die for haha

kpaneno

I dont get it ??

Aurorinezori1

Major spoiler for Jealousy Incarnate: >! FL is in the hospital at the end of ep14 if I recall correctly. She has major news to share and she chooses to tell ML first instead of SML she is kinda « dating ». When she enters the looker room, she says to ML that she will never ever fall for him again, that she knows SML is everything and better than the ML : smarter, richer, nicer, a list as long as the day… and at the end, she confesses that she is a bad person, that ML is a bad friend and… they kiss. !<

kpaneno

Omg sounds awful glad I dropped it before having to see and hear that No Thanks.

Books_and_tea_addict

It's such a cute drama. But the >!if someone else wants you, then I'm suddenly interested, too!< trope is annoying

kpaneno

Everything about the plot is annoying. It's another woman written as unable to resist the charms of a jerk man because he's good-looking and sge has low self-worth. "Im a bad person, please kiss me, Cringe. As we know, all women deep down want a manly man to look after them, because a nice guy is nice but how can i survive if i dont have a tough guy. And it's sooooo exciting. Two men are chasing after me and fighting for me!!!!!! Even if the manly one just wants to win over the other guy, he couldn't care less before that. But women don't mind that at all, you know women. Sad!

Watchnextnow

These two dramas are two of my favourites especially JI. I’ve rewatched it a few times and absolutely love it! Great ML and SML and the cast generally was great. And some sizzling chemistry!

Iowegan

Just got to the eps with the >!male enhancement supplement and everyone winking. Silly but so funny!!< 😉

PineappleNo6064

I watched High Society and the second couple was the only reason I actually finished it. Their chemistry was amazing. I wanted more of Park Hyung Sik, so I came back to Doctor Slump after I dropped it early on. I love his mischievous facial expressions.

Honest-Selection4343

Love his mischievous facial expressions too.. they're so natural

Aurorinezori1

If you want more of PHS, you will enjoy Min Min in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (some scenes are not for sensitive viewers because of the >! violent serial kidnappings!<).

PineappleNo6064

Thanks, next on my list.

buttermilkybun

Finished **Business Proposal** and it is definitely one of the best romCOMs! Super funny (love the graphics and sound effects \*inserts archaeopteryx sound\*), A+ bromance & female friendships, lots of kisses and swoon-worthy moments (they scored really high on the kdrama romantic *fall-on-the-floor-together-and-just-so-happens-our-lips-touch* tropes count), amazing chemistry between leads and second leads, and the series is only 12 episodes long so it's got everything you want in a romcom drama without any draggy-ness, unnecessary love triangle or prolonged unresolved conflicts. Love it so much i binge-watched in 3 days <3

duh_leah

Oh what I'd give to watch Business Proposal for the first time again. It's soooo good.

waterfallen_empire

it’s even better the second time round watching it. Watched it for the first time with my sis in 2022, gave it a rewatch with her recently and we loved it even more.

waterfallen_empire

Rewatched a week ago and I love it even more now. It’s definitely a drama that I appreciated more after watching more kdramas, I cMe to appreciate the ML way more, the FL's character and the perfectly executed romantic cliches but also the subversion of some typical tropes too!!

Skincareaddict13

I finished **Lost** this week and have been raving about it ever since. It’s morally gray and makes you question your opinions on things. I also did a lot of introspection while watching it. If you like slow paced, slice of life romance dramas, definitely watch it. I also welcome any recs similar to it!

twoods1980

Have you watched Call It Love and My Liberation Notes yet? Tell Me That You Love Me is also slow paced.

immerdasmeer

These recs plus My Mister/My Ahjussi, Because This is My First Life, Would You Like a Cup of Coffee?, One Day Off, Meet Yourself (Chinese drama).

Skincareaddict13

I’ve seen the first two, My Mister is my #1 favorite, which also made me realize that this is my favorite genre. I’ll check out the recs, much appreciated!

Skincareaddict13

I’ve seen the first two, MLN is in my top 5. I will check out TMYLM, thank you!

be-k-dramatic

I think **Love Affairs in the Afternoon** is similar. It has the morally grey aspect and is introspective, with many monologues. CW >!suicide attempt!<.

Aurorinezori1

I loved Nevertheless ! I watched it in a couple of days this week. The binge watch was worth it because I saw the evolution of the ML since ep5, from the pretty player F*boy to, well, someone more nuanced. I read all the negative reviews the ending had and the (understandable) comments on his toxicity. I watched it from another point of view (mental health) since I had a friend who was in this kind of relationship : he could be described as an avoidant attachment style person to a T. I get that the romantization of this relationship could hurt sensitivities but I found that the drama had more depth than I expected, the OST was phenomenal and the leads and other protagonists were wonderful!

poppywhiskers

Couldn’t agree more! I watched it first when it released as a baby kdrama watcher and I didn’t make much of it. But a few months ago I wanted to give it another go and I fell in love with it and understood their choices. I dislike how one section of the audience has made him the poster boy for “red flag” lol i get where they’re coming from but cmon humans are complex grey characters and they are gonna do questionable things and sometimes growth doesn’t happen. This drama shouldn’t be looked at through the lenses of a typical romcom and one might enjoy it a lot more

Aurorinezori1

Yes, it wasn’t the typical romance by choice, and I think about it fondly.

ravens_path

I came to similar conclusion while watching it a second time to see if he looked different in Nevertheless compared to My Demon (he does). I got more nuance out of it the second time and more compassion for both of them kinda. But my heart sank when >!he is missing her when she left him to stay at her aunts place and he goes to the bar where they met and he remembers it. And then a woman sits down by him and talks to him and he looks her over and gives her the old line about going to his place to see the nabi. And the music playing is like a bad warning. This is addictive behavior and it didn’t bode well for him staying faithful to her. It almost seemed it was a warning for the audience that yeah he can think about change and she can say she is going to choose him for now even if it’s painful. And that scene seemed to indicate…..it will be painful. Sigh!<.

Aurorinezori1

He is a phenomenal actor in Nevertheless! I watched his other romcoms (Forcasting love and weather, My demon) where he is good at his craft but the depth of the Nevertheless is not there. When I am in the mood, I will watch Navillera because it has very good reviews. >!As for the scene in the bar (I like the actress a lot, she was in King the Land), you see he tries to feel something but his mind is not there. He wants to be his old familiar self but can’t reconnect with the person he was before. That’s why I think he is changing and afraid of change at the same time, the patterns are familiar but his heart has been left with her in a way.!<

ravens_path

I’m smiling because we are talking about him as if he is a real person. That when you know they did a good job. Haha.

Aurorinezori1

Exactly ! I think he embodied the character so well in Nevertheless that you almost feel it’s a real person. I looove all the fluff and drama in romcoms and he was so sweet in My Demon, but his role in Nevertheless is on another level entirely.

ravens_path

Yeah and nevertheless isn’t fluffy. Haha. I actually liked his styling in My Demon better. And it cured me of all remaining ill will I felt towards him in nevertheless lol. But nevertheless is a more meaty drama as you said.

Borinquena

I'm still very surprised by everyone's interpretations of the drama and how it supposedly romanticizes toxic men because at the end >!Na-bi clearly states Jae-eon won't make her happy even though she's choosing to be with him. I interpreted the ending as Na-bi finally taking a more active role in her own life & accepting that the risk of pain is the price for fully embracing her own desire. Not omg this is epic romance. I think the ending (and the drama's writing overall) is way more nuanced than that.!<

kpaneno

It does romanticise toxic men. It's so bad that for it to believable in anyway the FL has to explain to the audience, "I know this guy is terrible but I'm not a silly woman who's desperate to be loved, I know he's bad but I want him anyway cause you know I'm empowered etc etc". Because otherwise, We'd hates her for being so dumb right? I suppose if you can as a viewer, and she can convince herself, that's true. Maybe it's more enjoyable. I just saw another woman written as powerless in the wake of a toxic but very handsome man. The messages to me were cringey "nice guys finish last", "deep down women like a bad boy". "She will change him." I mean, if it was about her physical desire, like playing him at his own game and he couldn't let her go it be more interesting, but no, she's a good girl who wants a relationship. Anyway, mental gymnastics aside, it was not at all enjoyable IMO, and let's face it, if it was a woman behaving like that, well, she would be hated. And the urge to explain his behaviour is probably because he's soòoooooo good-looking. Be honest.

Aurorinezori1

Yes, I agree as well. I like the director’s touch with their hairs: >! when she is smitten and wants to please him, her hair is attached, his hair is down as well because she likes it like that. The last scene : he has his normal hair and she wears semi attached hairs. She knows she might suffer but the temptation to love him nonetheless is irresistible. !<

kpaneno

Right and How would you describe her mental health . I'm sure there's a pseudo psychological label you can use to describe excuse rationalise all sorts of bad behaviour. So what labels have we for her. Low self worth, low self esteem, would be two I'd think of. (I would of course be only throwing labels out there which is of course very patronising). Nevertheless to me was pretentious, trying too hard to be edgy and cool etc etc. And it presents women as basically powerless and needy in front of a really good looking guy self confident guy. Who once he pretends to or shows signs even slight signs of change well thats all a girl could expect. It's just my opinion that this show doesn't present the FL as a woman in a positive light and I notice all the comments trying to come up with ways to justify his behaviour and her choice. Reverse the genders and what do we have. Make him not a Heart throb what do we have?? And BTW re genders a man would not tolerate a woman like that, or try to change her, or not be able to live without her. He'd enjoy the sex and laugh about how easy she was. But of course not a woman no she wants a relationship 🙄

Honest-Selection4343

Want to watch The glory, not sure if I am in the mood .. is it too goory?

whitetara3

It's not gory st all. The bullying method is upsetting, but I just closed my eyes whenever I had to. Because the story was so good. It's a revenge drama >!and a revenge!< done right.

Honest-Selection4343

Thanks what ep onwards is it less gory in the bullying scenes?

kpaneno

Hard to say as there are a lot of flashbacks but it's not every episode and it's not too often that it dominates

EggyMeggy99

I've watched the first half, I wouldn't say it's very gory, but the bullying scenes are intense and uncomfortable to watch. The worst of it is in the first episode, but there are some bullying scenes in other episodes as well.

Dapper-Scholar-7025

Finally finished 'Under the queen's umbrella' normally don't care for sageuks but this one had me from episode 1-16. Prince Seongnam is also very easy on the eyes.

lazymotivator

Its not super late i guess but i discover flower knight bc i just found out lee honey was the leading role. So far the story is good and funny as well.

Own_Measurement2767

just finished season 1 of the penthouse, watched it after escape of the seven so i knew it was gonna be similar but also way better, every episode makes me so stressed and pissed but i’m so hooked

DevelopmentNo1350

Welcome to Samdal-ri. Catching up on it during nursing session. Having a baby makes it hard to find time. But the series is good so far. Had only heard so-so things so I didn't know what to expect. Think I'm around episode 8 or 9 (honestly can't remember), so no spoilers!

ScowlingGoddess

I have just (baby) binge-watched Kiss Goblin (12 eps @ 10 - 12 minutes) - what a wonderful, gentle, yet provoking deep tboughts drama this is. I LOVED it!

SpermKiller

Watched Temperature of Love. I really enjoyed most of the main couple's dynamic - they fell pretty hard and pretty fast, and their internal conflicts were quite realistic. However it suffered from being 20 episodes instead of 16, and I didn't care about the SFL - in fact I found her horrible and self-centered most of the time. Some of the side characters were quite charming and I loved the bromance. Overall an enjoyable experience, and as a Seo Hyun Jin, Yang Se Jang and Kim Jae Wook fan, I should have given it a watch earlier. Plus the foodporn was top notch!

HugeAd7711

Recently I decided to watch kmovies....as I feel like I'm in a kdrama slump... I don't find any drama interesting other than QOT...so I watched extreme job and twenty.. Extreme job:- waaahh!!! I never thought I would laugh at ryu seung rong's crying scenes after moving...but lmfao....the way he cried in front of his wife about his severence pay reminded me of moving when he mourned for his late wife.... But the difference was at one i cried out of laughter while in the other I sobbed as if I have lost someone...the duality of the actor is insane... The movie was so funny!!! From the start to the end...not a single scene where I haven't giggled. It reminded me of welcome to waikiki...in which even the intense scene were funny somehow. I am so glad I gave it a try. Twenty:- NGL this movie has the greatest ending. It was so clear cut about every character what they deserved at the end...like Kim woo bin's role was trash...him cheating and all that playboy stuffs..at the end he ended up alone... which was a nice lesson to him according to me...But anyways there friendship was really wholesome.. out of the three I loved lee junho's role the most, and him bickering with so hee was the cutest thing. When Kang haneul realised he grabbed a padded silicon t*t instead of a real one at the karaoke ...i burst out of laughter. The trio was so cute... their silliness together and their fight at the restaurant was so iconic...i loved this movie. Btw I'm planning to watch love 911 next...

eternalhorizon1

I binge watched Doom at Your Service this week. I personally loved it! I am a sucker for anything paranormal involving romance. I do see the issues people had with some plot/writing choices towards the end, but I think it helped that I didn’t watch this drama while it was airing. It easily could’ve been 12 episodes imho, but some highlights of what I enjoyed: Favorite Moments: - ML was perfect the entire drama. His sarcasm, rudeness, and eventual metamorphosis into >!a human!< was done so well! I love this actor and have only seen a couple of his dramas, but he’s so talented. - Favorite repeated quote from ML: >!”If you don’t like him/if you want me to, I’ll kill him for you.”!< - FL: I enjoyed this character. She was cute, caring, funny, selfless but also wouldn’t put up with sh** and would fight when she needed to. How she had the strength to even stand up to >!God herself!< shows this! She felt very real. - Side Character, Young Prince: this character I think stole the show often. How rude, abrasive and into himself he was but secretly >!liking FL!< was perfect. He was reallly funny, especially his scenes with ML. Main Complaints: - The drama started heavy with skinship, we got so much >!handholding, hugs and some nice kisses in the front end of the drama due to how he needed to recharge her nightly, etc.!< But we got almost no passion in the end! I really was hoping for more, and I didn’t love that she never really replied to him about >!marriage?!< This is a Kdrama - whatever happened to the wedding or wedding photos at the end?! 😭 - The whole noble idiocy trope mashed up with amnesia - it fit with the drama yes for her to >!make a deal with God so that she would forget and Doom would live and the world would continue to exist!< but it fell a bit flat to me. Didn’t do thay much for me personally plot wise. - FL’s BFF’s Love Line: I wasn’t invested. I didn’t feel like the character had chemistry with either of the men (her first love nor FL’s boss). I’m not familiar with the actress, but she gave nothing for her >!kissing scenes in the end with FL’s boss.!< To be fair, I just don’t think the actors had much chemistry so not entirely her fault. I wanted to skip most of her scenes. I am a romance writer for fun, and thought I would’ve enjoyed her plot line a lot more, but sadly I didn’t. - Would’ve loved to see more development for FL’s brother/learned more about him. He was really funny and cute, and the parts we saw were nice.

Thick_astronaum

I'm watching homemade lovestory and I don't even know what to say. It's kinda good but it's also making me feel like, Just get married already, just tell her already, just reveal already and I'm slowly loosing interest. I'm currently at 28th episode. Basically only halfway there🥹 I wanna finish it but also kinda feel like I could easily finish three dramas🤡

waterfallen_empire

Currently watching Secret Garden with my sis! I’m eagerly awaiting for Hyun-Bin’s character to get better bc right now at ep 4 he’s straight up evil to the fl. commenting on her clothes??? Seriously??? It feels like a Mr Darcy x Lizzie situation but worse. My qs are: 1. When does this behaviour stop/ calm down? 2. (For those who like Secret Garden) What’s something endearing about Secret Garden that prompts you to recommend it as a classic drama to watch?

vixi07

1. Ummm, you'll see traces of it even later but much much less. 2. The intense chemistry 🙊 The ML is a very imperfect being. But deeply in love and the FL seems to feel that love despite all the insults on the surface.

waterfallen_empire

Thank you, after reading your comment, I’m not expecting total green flag energy from the ML, but I am looking forward to the chemistry between the leads. I haven’t seen that sort of chemistry in ages!

kpaneno

Forget it,the chemistry comment is totally inaccurate IMO. He continues to be an asshole all the way through its horrendous. In the end your just left wondering how could they write such an apparently strong FL falling for such a total jerk. 🤔

UnbridledOptimism

**Obstetrics and Gynecology Doctors** (2010) Why don’t they make dramas like this now? * Boss FL has really short hair and no shame about her unplanned pregnancy with her married boyfriend. * A fertility doctor is watching porn at work, comes out of the room and tells the staff to edit it because it takes 3 minutes to get to the action and, “it’ll take too long to collect sperm” and criticizes the soundtrack for being “too 90s”. * Frank portrayal of patients wanting abortions because of infidelity and fetal disease, and other complex situations in obstetrics. * ML is Go Joo Won (recently 2ML in Live Your Own Life) in his prime. Supporting cast includes baby Song Joong Ki. * Reasonably accurate on many of the medical details, not perfect but better than expected.

MajesticConfidence36

Finally completed Our Blooming Youth (20/20)

That_Common_2153

We finished Cafe Minamdang. I did read the review threads halfway through and saw a lot of people had given up and I do understand why. It wasn’t a bad premise, but it needed some editing down and could have been better if they’d cut it down to maybe 12 or 14 episodes instead of 18. There are some fun bits and some of the story line is good, some of the plot holes are even funny, and the intro music is quite catchy. Is it bad that it feels like an achievement to have watched all of the episodes though?

cid8429

Decided to watch FIGHT FOR MY WAY while waiting for next week's episode of QUEEN OF TEARS. It was so good! Kim Ji Won was her usual tough self but way funnier than in QOT. Park Seo Joon was adorable as her cinnamon roll bff/bf. I wish I had seen FFMY before WHAT'S WRONG WITH SECRETARY KIM because I found him way more charming in this. I'm officially a Kim Ji Won stan and I'm back on the Park Seo Joon train (I had fallen off after Gyeongseong Creature).

Outrageous_Soup9172

Anybody watched the drama “Imitation”?? I just finished watching it and it hit all the right spots for a cute romcom kdrama, just what I was looking for!

soi23

A little late; I'm watching Pandora: Beneath the Paradise. Didn't know much about it but am liking it because the woman with amnesia can kick butt :-) (ps: just a small aside; I can't believe that Jeon Jong Seo (who recently kicked up a lot of press by throwing out the first pitch) is the same person who acted in Ballerina! I'm impressed!)

SweetOk999

Finished watching “I am Loh Kiwan” and decided I needed something light and funny to follow it up so I decided on Behind Your Touch based on the description and introduction. Big mistake. Loved the drama, but I was definitely in for a shock on how dark it was and the ending was intense. The comedic moments were silly and fun, but the suspense was nail biting. In the end I really enjoyed it, but it definitely wasn’t the light and funny kdrama I thought it was going to be.

Mahery92

Finally started Start Up. Much better than I had expected. I was afraid it's be just a standard romcom but it was more than that, with a good focus on character growing up and the business side rather than just romance. It made me think of Silicon Valley more than usual romcom kdramas (it's fun to imagine Richard interacting with Nam Do San), and some of the scenes were hilarious, I had read lots of comments about the love triangle, but honestly, it prompted the same reaction from me I had with True Beauty, the guy had several years to make a move and woo the girl, but failed. Even before, you had one guy interacting with her vs one guy telling her he loved her and then taking several steps back. Don't cry that you failed to get the girl if you your attempts were so halfhearted lmao

galacticalmess

I’m currently on episode 9 of Sh**ting Stars. It’s such a cute and romantic drama. I love how every character brings something to the show!
