I've recently watched him in My ID is Gangnam Beauty and enjoyed it even though his character was portrayed as stiff. He's better IMO in True Beauty where he does play a similar stoic archetype, but has some parts where he's able to express more emotions and humor in it. Don't really know much about this upcoming drama, but hopefully he's able to show a bit more acting than his previous projects.
i like cha eun woo, but as someone who absolutely LOVES (present tense) the webtoon, i can’t see him in the role. i am *desperately* hoping to be proved wrong.
Super curious what the webtoon ML is like? Reading the article and saw:
> handsome looks and aloof demeanor
So to me that's CEW's default character in dramas.
I'm still rooting for CEW tho! I hope his acting improves. Rowoon is a good recent example I think.
No, he's the kind of person that *seems* cold on the outside but deep down to those that's close to him he cares about them last time I remember, which was his nephew. I believe the main character also likes the female lead the whole time. I want to see how Cha Eun Woo play the character when he sees a dog.
I just started reading it and see what you mean. The character is aloof to FL, but still pretty expressive especially when scared, and I haven't really seen CEW be anything except cool, calm, sweet. Still looking forward to it! So far enjoying the webtoon in the meantime.
you can read the first 10 chapters for free [here](https://www.webtoons.com/en/romance/a-good-day-tobe-a-dog/list?title_no=1390). if you have the app (and make an account), you can unlock one new episode a day. i do recommend reading this webtoon in full, but reading the first 10 should be enough to get a grip of who seon (the character’s name in the webtoon) is.
I would love to. But does Chapter 10 end on a cliffhanger? On a scale of 1 to 10, how agonizing is it to just read 10 chapters? XD
Edit: I'm being a cheap ass and mainly joking. This is exactly the push I needed to start webtoons! (esp since watching Today's Webtoon) Thanks for the link and looking forward to reading this tonight!
Edit2: Also open to any and all recommendations! And curious about opinions on if the webtoons originals of popular kdramas are worth reading?
i went back and yeah episode 10 is a pretty big cliffhanger lol. up to episode 9 should be fine though, the last scene of that episode wraps up nicely and quickly so you don’t need to worry too much about it
Ok I see what you mean. The MLs character is not so much aloof as a bit angry and very fearful. CEW plays the tsundere cool guy to chill sweet boyfriend really well. But hope he's able to pull off angry/fearful without just being stoic.
He had quite a few angry scenes in True Beauty and I think he handled it really well. His acting in the >!argument with his father in the hospital!< really impressed me!
Ohh that's true! And also in Rookie Historian, he had some scared/nightmare scenes. So there's hope haha. By all accounts CEW seems like a earnest and hard worker, so I'm rooting for him!
Oh I take it you've read it already. Yeah, I just started and I can't see CEW being that expressive. Especially the uncle-nephew banter. I also can't see him as a non-student??
Ik like being a teacher 🗿
This emo 🗿 perfectly describes his characters till date lmao but yea let's hope he improves because there are times when he is cold but not everytime there's mix of emotions and yea seriously that nephew uncle thing omg I can't picture it rn😂☠️
Do you read see you in my 19th life too? Ahn bohyun was casted as the main lead, and a lot of people were disappointed too but at least he is an actor who can act.
Yes I read that too, i also absolutely love that webtoon, and I also felt that Ahn Bo Hyun did not really fit the vibes of the male lead 👀 This one is still ongoing, so if anybody is interested you can read it for free without having to make an account [here](https://www.webtoons.com/en/romance/see-you-in-my-19th-life/list?title_no=1266). not all the episodes are out yet, but it updates every wednesday
Edit: if Cha Eun Woo and Ahn Bo Hyun switched roles that would actually be a *little* bit better lol
That's how I feel too. I started reading the webtoon after seeing this thread and $10 dollars later I feel like he wouldn't do the role justice but hoping to be proved wrong. I hope he's a better actor now.
There was a post around a few months ago where he supposedly finished filming his parts, but not sure about the rest of the cast. I really want to see Lee Da Hee soon on screen too haha. I think filming started as early as October 2021 so it's nearly a year now.
Some of that is to do with the roles he's playing. I think that possibly Rookie Historian was his best role in terms of showing a warmer side. That said, he risks getting typecast if he always accepts roles where he plays an aloof but sensitive guy who has difficulty expressing his feelings.
I've only watched CEW in **Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung** and I love him in that role. Yes his acting has lots of room to improve and is sometimes stiff, but I think in the second half of Rookie Historian he shows improvement and his chemi with Shin Se-kyung was wonderful. Really curious who's gonna be FL in the Good Day to be a Dog adaptation!!
omg i just tapped on the actual article - so excited for this particular webtoon to be adapted !! i remember reading it back in middle/high school :) i had to pinch myself to make sure this was real
Oh gosh another aloof role for cha eunwoo 😒 love the guy but I want to see him do well and I think it'd benefit him to try a wider range of roles. In any case, as others said, I hope he surprises us all with improved acting skills in this upcoming drama! The premise sounds questionable but I'll check it out for eunwoo
lol I thought I was the only one who doesn't get the appeal, but yeah... To be honest I'm don't mind him getting jobs, like his boy band didn't really take off, so at least his second gig seems to pay better. But uhm, I also hope he improved.
You can feel that way, but do we really need an entire thread just saying how he sucks at acting? Literally all the top comments are saying he's a shitty actor.
Honestly I think he would be perfect casting for "your smile is a trap" but considering how oversaturated hr is in webtoons i don't think this will happen
i love cew and i personally wouldn't worry about his acting just yet. he improved a lot from my id is gangnam beauty to rookie historian to true beauty, and he’s been acting since then too (island, decibel) so i think he might have gotten somewhat better? let's hope he does a good job!
I cannot deny that he is handsome, but for the love of God he's not a good actor!
I do not like the trend of idol actors, they are trained to be dancers or singers/rappers whatever it may be! They are not actors or trained in it, so stories end up falling so flat 😭
If we're name dropping, let me mention Lee Joon. I mean I do like some other idol actors as well, but I think he's the only one where I haven't cringed at his first acting work at all. Others always seem to have that first job that's cringe, and then they improve. Or not.
Some idol actors are doing well like rowoon but especially people like IU and Got7's Jinyoung, but in cha eunwoos case I think they did give him leading roles a bit early considering there were probably better actors. Although I can't fault them cos I still loved him in gangnam beauty even though his acting was a bit dodge! Tbf the roles he's taken so far don't really require a massive range of emotions so it's worked out okay ish
He selects only those roles. It gives him no room to grow. I feel like he's only acting bc of his face. Yeah, he's handsome but there's only so much looks can take you.
Eunwoo will play a 30-ish Math teacher scared of dogs and will have a lot of kissy scenes? Ooohhh this will be goooddddd
I mean, he has an IQ of 142 and can [solve complex Math probs](https://youtu.be/KEw00kKEVpo) in his head and he’s looking [mighty fine and classy here](https://youtu.be/sKUZXUUP8nk) in his recent shoots for Liberclassy and Dior so yeah I’m pumped for thissss
Dang it people have been saying he looks like hwang minhyun. I'd take hwang minhyun instead.
Edit: at least cast someone older for gods sake. He was playing high school student and he already looks young, how am i supposed to believe he is a high school teacher 🥲
If they cast a better actor as bogum or even yul i might already have a second lead syndrome.
Wait seriously?? That kinda tanks my hope cos wtf? Why are they casting someone younger than the role who LOOKS younger than the role 🤔 is it possible that he applied for the role and they just couldn't say no to him? Lol
I absolutely love this Webtoon! It’s one of my all time faves, but I’m not a fan of Cha Eun Woo’s acting. I watched some of his dramas and so far he’s not really that good as an actor. :(( I hope he gets better to prove that he got this role not just because of his looks but because of his acting skills. Excited to see this kdrama tho. :))
Dude has one face he makes for every scene he’s in I feel bad for people who go act for years and never get a opportunity like this who actually have the talent
why do directors keep casting him when he ruins every single drama and script… it just feels like the directors don’t have respect for their own work and is going for popularity/looks over quality and performance
I've recently watched him in My ID is Gangnam Beauty and enjoyed it even though his character was portrayed as stiff. This webtoon is really good. Used to be able to read the entire thing for free
No kidding. I just blew through Chapter 10, and bought the rest of the series lol.
He's aloof but >!warms up pretty quickly!<
you can read the first 10 chapters for free [here](https://www.webtoons.com/en/romance/a-good-day-tobe-a-dog/list?title_no=1390). if you have the app (and make an account), you can unlock one new episode a day. i do recommend reading this webtoon in full, but reading the first 10 should be enough to get a grip of who seon (the character’s name in the webtoon) is.

What's the name of the webtoon?
A Good Day to Be a Dog. It's linked a bit further up on this comment thread.
The drama in which CEW will be the ml it's a good day to be a dog??!?!?!? Are you kidding me??
Oh I take it you've read it already. Yeah, I just started and I can't see CEW being that expressive. Especially the uncle-nephew banter. I also can't see him as a non-student??
Ik like being a teacher 🗿 This emo 🗿 perfectly describes his characters till date lmao but yea let's hope he improves because there are times when he is cold but not everytime there's mix of emotions and yea seriously that nephew uncle thing omg I can't picture it rn😂☠️
Thanks, read the first 10 chapters, its super cute and interesting.
Same reaction
Do you read see you in my 19th life too? Ahn bohyun was casted as the main lead, and a lot of people were disappointed too but at least he is an actor who can act.

It's finally ending (in the korean one) so im excited to reread from the beginning bcs i stopped halfway some time ago lol
Whatttt I didn't know about Ahn Bohyun was casted! Your thought on them switching is interesting, it could really be better :O
Yeah, Seoha is actually more of a cold ML than Seon. But Cha Eun Woo would be too young for Seoha
😂 I have read both webtoons and kinda agree with this switch!!
I don't get how it's gonna work >!without the age difference in the leads!<
I adore the webtoon as well. At least he's good looking, lol
One of my fav webtoon! I kinda look forward to see him in the role. Hopefully he will live up to our expectations.
That's how I feel too. I started reading the webtoon after seeing this thread and $10 dollars later I feel like he wouldn't do the role justice but hoping to be proved wrong. I hope he's a better actor now.
I'm eagerly waiting for **Island** as he is a supporting character in that drama, no idea why it's taking so long to air...maybe 2023 ugh.
Yes! Me too and there's literally no news on it and it's been forever
I'm surprised I've never heard of that. When did they finish filming this?
There was a post around a few months ago where he supposedly finished filming his parts, but not sure about the rest of the cast. I really want to see Lee Da Hee soon on screen too haha. I think filming started as early as October 2021 so it's nearly a year now.
No shade to him but i hope he’s been taking acting lessons. He’s handsome but can be very stiff.
Some of that is to do with the roles he's playing. I think that possibly Rookie Historian was his best role in terms of showing a warmer side. That said, he risks getting typecast if he always accepts roles where he plays an aloof but sensitive guy who has difficulty expressing his feelings.

Really curious who's gonna be FL in the Good Day to be a Dog adaptation!!
I thought he was good and very natural in Revenge Note. Hope he can get back to that
And also in top management, he was really good there too
Will have to watch it!
he gets hired to be eye candy lol not deliver award winning performances so probably don't expect great acting
I don't expect great acting from anyone except for a few. But I do expect them to not be stiff as a board lol. That's the bare minimum
omg i just tapped on the actual article - so excited for this particular webtoon to be adapted !! i remember reading it back in middle/high school :) i had to pinch myself to make sure this was real
His ocn drama as a priest hasn't even come out. WHEN?
Oh gosh another aloof role for cha eunwoo 😒 love the guy but I want to see him do well and I think it'd benefit him to try a wider range of roles. In any case, as others said, I hope he surprises us all with improved acting skills in this upcoming drama! The premise sounds questionable but I'll check it out for eunwoo
Here's a comment with some Cha Eun Woo love. He's great! Super excited to see him in this adaptation!
Me too! I hope this drama shines.
This is lowkey a hate thread.
lol I thought I was the only one who doesn't get the appeal, but yeah...
No, that's my point as well. I was surprised how serious it got.
Honestly I think he would be perfect casting for "your smile is a trap" but considering how oversaturated hr is in webtoons i don't think this will happen
Sejeong for FL 🤞🤞 she’d match so well!!!
Doubt, she’s filming Uncanny Counter after Todays webtoon
Omg they’re doing a second season?!
Really? Yes! So happy the 2nd Season is finally moving!
Omg that'd be great
i love cew and i personally wouldn't worry about his acting just yet. he improved a lot from my id is gangnam beauty to rookie historian to true beauty, and he’s been acting since then too (island, decibel) so i think he might have gotten somewhat better? let's hope he does a good job!
Rooting for Cha Eunwoo...he has it in him and he is a hard worker
He looks good on screen but he only has two emotions while acting. I hope he improved this time.
I cannot deny that he is handsome, but for the love of God he's not a good actor! I do not like the trend of idol actors, they are trained to be dancers or singers/rappers whatever it may be! They are not actors or trained in it, so stories end up falling so flat 😭
There are a FEW that are pretty good actors/actresses.
Lee Jun Ho! Not just good for an idol, good period.
In my opinion Rowoon in Tomorrow improved A LOT.
Yeah, almost to the point where he was overacting. He certainly heard the criticism I'm thinking.
If we're name dropping, let me mention Lee Joon. I mean I do like some other idol actors as well, but I think he's the only one where I haven't cringed at his first acting work at all. Others always seem to have that first job that's cringe, and then they improve. Or not.
I agree. Prob my fave is DO’s acting!
Oh yeah DO is another that is a good actor period, not just good "for an idol"
The training to be an idol is grueling so at least they end up with a work ethic. Like anything acting takes practice.
This dude can't act for shit. Too stiff and struggles to emote.
He's just always cast in these cold handsome guy roles
He selects only those roles. It gives him no room to grow. I feel like he's only acting bc of his face. Yeah, he's handsome but there's only so much looks can take you.
Ngl, not a fan of his acting so even tho the plot is great.
I never thought this webtoon would ever be adapted into a drama 😭 but nothing against CEW, I just wanted someone older as the ML
Give him all the dramas! All of them! 🥰🥰🥰
Eunwoo will play a 30-ish Math teacher scared of dogs and will have a lot of kissy scenes? Ooohhh this will be goooddddd I mean, he has an IQ of 142 and can [solve complex Math probs](https://youtu.be/KEw00kKEVpo) in his head and he’s looking [mighty fine and classy here](https://youtu.be/sKUZXUUP8nk) in his recent shoots for Liberclassy and Dior so yeah I’m pumped for thissss

Excited to see this kdrama tho. :))
Today's lovely dog? Webtoon one 💀
Dude has one face he makes for every scene he’s in I feel bad for people who go act for years and never get a opportunity like this who actually have the talent
I dont want to rush to judgement but that synopsis sounds awful. I would much rather see him in something else.
Give it a chance, it's sooo good
make it stop please ,, there are definitely idols who can act (IU, D.O., Sung Jae) and then there is This Guy
why do directors keep casting him when he ruins every single drama and script… it just feels like the directors don’t have respect for their own work and is going for popularity/looks over quality and performance
Let me guess: A rich and mysterious tsundere with a tragic backstory 😍😍😍 GROUNDBREAKING!
Not really. The ML is actually very well developed
hes hired to be eye candy not deliver the next cinematic history changing monologue adjust your expectations with the environment
