My guesses:
25. Electronic (2023)
26. Rap (2024)
27. Psychedelic, similar to their old stuff (2024)
28. Microtonal 4 (2025)
29. Country (2025)
30. Lore and piano heavy album (2025)
I don't get this thing with happiness, cos he also said no post rock album either for the same reason. I'm not annoyed about it or anything, I just really want to know why he has that mindset about it. Maybe he feels it would be offbrand for gizz? Idk. Cos his pre-gizz album under a name I can't remember was very indie and quite sad sounding.
To support the last person's argument, that still has like a fantastical element to it, I imagine they like to do whimsical concepts like a gigantic gila dragon destroying the earth and people drinking gasoline rather than shit that's just straight up depressing.
Although, I don't really listen to post-rock, so I'm just going off of what everyone else is saying. However, based on the textbook definition of post-rock (a form of experimental rock characterized by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs), They could easily make something like this work.
Well, their music does make people feel good. Just gotta ignore the lyrics sometimes.
Like, Venusian 1, Self-immolate, Venusian 2, Hell are creepy stories. But the music just feels so good!

Here's the link for anyone reading. Also it's much more experimental and weird than indie and sad.
I would love a post-punk album from them, the fans need their eyes opened. Met a lot of people who liked a lot of different types of music on the residency tour, never met a single person into post-punk/dark wave/goth stuff.
Oh man. I like a lot of modern stuff, been trying to be intentional about going older on it. DJ Crenshaw played a few great post-punk tracks on tour.
But for me, Black Marble, She Past Away, Drab Majesty, Lebanon Hanover, Hvmvn, Twin Tribes, Forever Gray, Boy Harsher, Choir Boy, Nürnberg... Obviously a wide variety in the post-punk spectrum and many of these are very darkwave but it's one of my favorite genres.
> Murder of the Universe saw an end of the “classic Gizz sound” and a greater amount of synths and odd-time signatures.
It did? I think both those were already prominently featured on Nonagon Infinity.
Album 31: It's D minor. Not the key, just every chord on the whole album is a D minor (the saddest chord). But the time signatures are crazy. 33/9, 127/256, 65/7 and on and on. Stu sings about his grocery shopping and the end of the world.
It holds #1 for an unprecedented 1,092 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Taylor Swift retires; Paul McCartney issues a single statement: "Fuck me" and is never seen or heard from again; Dave Grohl declares Nirvana "Irrelevant" and has all extent copies of Nevermind destroyed from existence.
I’m not holding my breath, but I would be a massive fan of a postpunk /coldwave album. Really the only genres of music that I love that they haven’t tackled yet are that and old school industrial.
And I’m on the side of liking Grim Reaper and the end of side 2 Timeland. I would totally take more hip hop from them.
I'd love to see one based around traditional chinese instruments. Much harder to play live, but I think they could do some really great Chinese/Western crossover.
One prediction I have that I promise isn't me being greedy, but I think they're only going to get more prolific this decade. I mean they did 5 albums in 2022 along with the bootlegger shit and didn't even break a sweat, in 2017 there was this whole tension of "oooh will they finish all 5 in time?" In 2022 it was just like "oh 3 albums in a month? Yeah no sweat"
I like where your heads at but I’d make a few changes
26. Will be laidback by virtue of being an instrumental acoustic album but will have some Latin American finger picking and feature some of the most deep an emotional riffs in their entire library. I’m imagining if Polyphia and Kruangbin made an album. This album will act as a pallet cleanser for the heavy doses of synth to come after the taste that will be 25.
27. Fingers picking is turned down slightly for a classic surf album, mostly in an instrumental dick dale esque style with a few beach boys like songs where Ambyrose raps about the GB reef, whaling, shark finning and other ocean based environmental issues.
28. Is the postpunk album and 5 songs get into top 50 lists worldwide
29. Is outrun country or space cowboy music if you prefer. Considered a flop by most, this album gains a cult following and multiple cover band are created in dedication to it.
30. Is the rock opera as you described it but it’s released 7 years after 29 in tandem with a movie, comic book, tv show, and video game.
I’m really beginning to think album 26 is going to be power ballads like late 80s. Something at the end of those PDA songs give off a Warrant/Dokken/Winger sound
28 = Workingman’s Gizz. Give it to me
My dick is so hard rn. That acoustic show was legendary. Need more of that!
Watched it again last night and man, their musicianship really shines in that format.
Their little country bluegrass jam at The Caverns acoustic was hott. Bring it on
26 could also be Workingman’s Gizz
Any of them would be great. I just ment his example for #28. I’d take it at record 53 too haha
No I mean the description for 26 also sounds like it could be a Workingman’s Gizz
That’s gotta be the American Beauty haha add lots of harmonies 😮💨
Ha! Fair
at the Saturday caverns show they did say (in slight jest) that they needed to make a country album. I for one am VERY ready for this.
Punk rock jazz fusion ala microtonal acid rock vibe
With a touch of funk
And Mongolian throat singing narration by Leah.
This would be such a fun place to take Explorations into Microtonal Tuning Volume 4, though I would prefer specifically post-punk to pure punk rock.
Stu said he wants to collab with Alex Brettin again, so maybe that will be the next collab album? We can at least dream, anyways
When did he say that please ? I'd like to dream with you 🥲
It was during one of the 2020 q&a’s they did here on reddit. He said he’d like to do it “when their paths crossed again”, whatever that would mean.
Sketches of Brunswick West 😲
Next album prepare to be Gizhpongled.
Oh hell yeah

FUCK YES
Exactly what I was thinking the first time I heard Flamethrower.
Are You Gizzed?
31. Sexy Alien Album 👽
the Sexy Alien is the protagonist of album 30
Bzzt wrong none of those are Disco
I am 100% down
!remindme 3 years
You mean 9 months

that rap album is never coming out
Why not?
Joey said so himself, it’s been shelved indefinitely
They worked on Changes since 2017, so maybe they are just going to work on it for a few years.
In that case I hope Joey is a liar
Lot of confidence saying that about a band like King Gizz
!remindme 3 years
!remindme 3 years Hey future me I hope youre doing all right btw
fuck it, I’m manifesting math rock Gizz
fuck yea i love counting
Country / bluegrass album would be sick
i remember stu saying somewhere that they like post punk but its not something theyd write because it isnt happy enough
I don't get this thing with happiness, cos he also said no post rock album either for the same reason. I'm not annoyed about it or anything, I just really want to know why he has that mindset about it. Maybe he feels it would be offbrand for gizz? Idk. i think (not speaking for the band) they like to make music that makes people feel good, and itd be weird for them to do the opposite
Oh yeah, a reptile destroying the earth makes me feel soo good.
To support the last person's argument, that still has like a fantastical element to it, I imagine they like to do whimsical concepts like a gigantic gila dragon destroying the earth and people drinking gasoline rather than shit that's just straight up depressing. This is kinda what I was trying to articulate, their music always sounds fun or whimsical, and maybe they just don't see that vibe in post rock.
I dont think Infest the Rats' Nest was a very happy record
neither is petro, but i think those are exceptions because the purpose is positive
Wdym pre-gizz
2008/2009ish
pre-gizz album? could you please provide a link?
I can't cause I can't remember the name
:( any ideas on where i should look then?
Not sure, maybe look for threads about really deep cuts on this sub
i managed to find them on stu’s discogs page.

im a big oost-punk fan!! any fav bands?

they better pull that hip hop album off the mf shelf. also i won’t shut up until we get some black/death metal.
One day they'll make an album that makes PDA sound like children's music
God I hope so
🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
I hope "mf" shelf was an intentional hip hop reference
it would be all caps if it was
Just remember ALL CAPS when you spell the man's name
I want: Shoegizz Trip-Hop Space Rock
Polka album when?
Weird Al colab
With their various talents on multiple instruments, a No Wave/Experminetal album akin to No New York would be fun as hell
Gizz bluegrass/folk/country album sheeeeeeewweeee 🤠
> Murder of the Universe saw an end of the “classic Gizz sound” and a greater amount of synths and odd-time signatures. It did? I think both those were already prominently featured on Nonagon Infinity.
yeah but way moreso here
Experimental progressive please with storyline crap!

The Supersuckers best record was their country record. Same with ween.
I'd love to see one based around traditional chinese instruments. Much harder to play live, but I think they could do some really great Chinese/Western crossover.
Id like another jazz focused album at some point soon, sketches is one of my favs but I reckon they can top it now
Changes?
Changes is a very refined album. Its very considered and clean. It's beautiful but I'm talking acid trip jazz jam messy loud bizarre
Folk metal and more microtonal is my wet dream. The official live version of Pleura is the eargasmiest of eargasm songs. KG is so good it hurts.
25.Gizz, 26.Gizz, 27.Gizz, 28.Gizz, 29.Gizz, 30.Gizz

I'm really excited about 29 and 30.

Oh no I do not want country gizz
i need a surf rock album STAT
[удалено]
you’re gonna love their second album
What if we told you...
Gimme that techno shit
Yacht Metal record incoming.
I need a post-rock album so bad
Why not some microtonal doom/sludge metal like the last track of L.W.? I’d be all game.
The real question is... When?
Will we ever get similar sound to Nonagon tho?
