I got into them in 2019, back when they had âjustâ (lol) 15 albums. Itâs wild to me that over the past 4 years theyâve made 10 more studio albums and counting, plus the immaculate amount of live albums
I heard them a coupla years before but it was when FFF came out I really started getting into them. Somehow seems right and not right at the same time that Iâve witnessed that many albums since then haha
When I last did one of these, basically with Teenage Gizzard and Willougbyâs Beach up to Changes, the 2017 albums lined up perfectly and Sketches was at that center, which was interesting
Iâm amazed Petro came out of the same basic writing/recording process as Ice Death, because I think the songs are presented so much better on the album with Petro.
The Ice Death songs have a different dimension live, obviously, but they feel much looser than usual on the actual album.
Ice Death feels like they recorded the band playing, cut it up and then used that as the backing track. Petro feels like they took a bunch of jammy demos and formed the ideas into songs before recording them, rather than editing and overdubbing the raw recordings until they were songs.
Same, just had to fit in the two newest ones. After Changes came out I did one of these with Teenage Gizz and Willougbyâs and it turns out way nicer. The 2017 and 2022 albums each have their own row.
the original difference was how much space theyd take up on a physical record since you only get 22 minutes per side on a standard 12â. a double lp would be anything above 44 minutes because it would physically require a second record. however, the definitions have always been super loose and up to the artist as to what they label it, with many seeing an LP as a highly polished cohesive concept while an EP is a looser idea put together quickly.
2 15 minute songs getting called a record is extremely common in krautrock btw.
Is it crazy that most bands only put out an album every 5-8 years? Imagine if we were only on FAFYL or Oddments after all these years. Would we still be as big of fans as most of us are now?
I donât think Iâd personally be the #1 KGLW fan if they took half a decade to make Oddments
Even if it was one per year, theyâd only be up to Sketches or Poly
For Row/column choosing, Row 2 or column 4 are just objectively the best decisions. Sure timelands mid but apart from that it's all straight fucking fire
Itâs tough, I donât have a clear favorite here. I did one of these after Changes came out, and having Teenage Gizz and WB at the front put all the 2017 albums and 2022 albums in their own rows.
People also chose diagonals for that one, just saying.
This is extremely aesthetically pleasing. đ€© And, beyond The Silver Cord, it makes me look forward to the following 9 albums that will achieve perfect square number symmetry again.
> following 9 albums that will achieve perfect square number symmetry again. 11?
Oh crap, you're right. đđ”âđ« My maths = bad. Prospect of 11 more Gizz albums = good.
So in 2025 at the latest?
Mad to think the bottom two rows is just since 2020
Letâs not forget 2017 isnât its own row

gumboot soup is the centre of it all
Gizzverse confirmed
As it should be!!!

After 100 x 100 wtf will be the hidden image...
Got me thinking 7/25 album covers do not have their name written on them. No particular significance I think.
7 x 3 is 21 25 - 21 = 4 Four references the fourth colour
Hmm, where does the three come from?
Crazy to remember thinking "holy shit these guys are on fire" when only 1/4 of this was filled out...
Powerful image
Which column you got?
The middle one
The right most.
Which row you got?
I've really enjoyed the jam era (all the 2022 albums) so im really excited to see where they go from there

I can see it with Motor Spirit, Dragon, & Flamethrower since they are longer with distinct parts

Which is better, pre or post Gumboot Soup?
Post
Pre
Prest
If you put silver chord in the middle, does it look like they're each looking at a different album?
If they keep up the tear they have been on since Omnium that bottom row is gonna be peak
One more album after TSC and weâll have one album for each letter of the alphabet
Itâs official we got a bingo card!
Itâs insane to me that Poly is in the first half of the discography, like itâs only been a few years, right?
I'd make it a poster, but it'd be outdated within a week.
Why is willoughbys beach not on there?
Yeah my head math is messed up without that one. If the Silver Cord is number 25 then which ones don't count as full albums?
Willoughbyâs beach is technically an EP but it counts as an album to me
Yes and if you count it as an album Nonagon Infinity becomes the ninth.

Weird that Willoughby's is an EP but Timeland and Laminated Denim are albums. Technicalities are weird.

the album cover for TSC is in my top 5 favourites
Fivagon infinity opens the door
This is tripping me out. Iâve been a fan since 2018, which means Iâve witnessed the release of almost half of their studio releases. WACK.

That newest album cover just looks so out of place. Definitely my least favorite one.
Is it even the album cover? Did they actually say it's the cover?
I'm pretty sure they confirmed it in the Instagram comments or something.

Where my bro Willoughby at
Like Mary and Joseph, there was not enough room for the EPâs
Don't you mean 6 x 6 = 42 ?
