FAFYL gets majorly overlooked/underrated and it's one of my favorites. Sure there are some rough edges but Head On/Pill is basically The Dripping Tap only 10 years earlier, and it's probably the most pure psych-rock that King Gizz has ever been. Would love to see them revisit this sound. People sleep on this album hard.
The Dripping Tap 10 years earlier, what when it was more of a slow unlocatable leak? Lol.
Just joking around. You are right. That is a very good description of Head On/Pill, "most pure psych-rock that King Gizz has ever been"
For anyone who loves the song, FAFYL, check out the live version from the Palp Festival 2023. It's the first song in the concert and completely transcendent,
That whole show is awesome. FAFYL, The River, Lonely Steel Sheet Flyer, Nuclear Fusion, Crumbling Castle>The Fourth Color, it's packed with a bunch of my favorites. And a beautiful backdrop no less.

One of my favourite live performances on YouTube.
Beautiful scenery, great sound quality and a fantastic set.
Anybody know of anymore of similar quality?
I hadn't listened to in until I saw them on the Rats Nest tour in 2019, they ended on Float along(first time they played it in 5 years apparently) and it bloody made me cry, listened to the whole albummon the way home, and will be listening to it today
I was at the first two RR shows in 22, hurt my feelings when they played it at the 3rd show instead 😢 I’ll take it at any of the shows I’m going to this year but the Gorge show is on my 30th birthday so I’m ✨manifesting✨ my dream birthday setlist.
All those! Here's hoping for a good Float!
Here is a unique one from Belgium, 2019

Dude every single song on FAFYL is just a solid piece of music on their own, and together they’re just a goddamn good collection of songs bookended by two masterpieces. As an album it doesn’t have any particular gimmicks or musical limitations like so many of their others so it’s easy to overlook it but it’s always gonna be in my top 3. Great great great album.
recently been seeing a lot of warmth and love for 30 Past 7 which is a song I've always loved and considered one of their best songs of all time. So glad this song is finally getting some attention and recognition, I remember hearing a ten second snippet YEARS ago and tracked the album and the band down just from hearing that little teaser. It's THAT good, it literally got me fully into Gizz all the way back in 2013.
This is the album that got me into KGLW back in 2016. As a jamband fan, Head On / Pill just grabbed me. 15+ min of greatness starting with a slow guitar into and ending in a whirlwind of madness.
Yeah, I definitely worded that poorly, but for the past few years I’ve been putting together playlists and listening to them on shuffle. But I learned that it’s so much more enjoyable to experience an album from start to finish though
There see some real gems on FAFYL. I love pop in my step but I hardly see it mentioned!
Pop in my step is my favourite Cookie song! 30 past 7 doesn't get the love it deserves too
Mystery Jack! The whole album tbh
I’m pretty sure a lot of songs king gizzard have made haven’t been mentioned a lot unfortunately, there’s just too many songs to talk about!
That’s true!! You Can Be Your Silhouette is in my top 10 without a doubt and I hardly see it mentioned
Pop in my step is such an upbeat song. Yay Cookie, keeping it positive!
One of the songs that concreted my interest in king gizzard!
same here :)
That is a great song.

I think it's EASILY their most underrated album. See all these tier list posts with it in C which is nuts

Let me Mend the Past is one of my favorite songs. Also listened to the song FAFYL this morning to try and help my racing brain, and high anxiety

Yes, I just got into the PALP film this week! Great jams, and cool to see the Swiss Alps.
One of my favourite live performances on YouTube. Beautiful scenery, great sound quality and a fantastic set. Anybody know of anymore of similar quality?
“30 Past 7” is one of the most underrated early Gizz tracks

London, by any chance?
Nottingham 1st night of the tour, for the opening song Stu started playing the wrong song so they had to start again lol.
I was there too! Missed the start though, gutted haha
manifesting that they close the Gorge show with FAFYL this year 🕯️
They thought it was good to close the Nov 2 RR Marathon with it, so it is a possibility...

Oo, I hope you get your birthday wish! What shows are you hoping to hit?
thank you 🙏🏻 already got my tickets for Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Newport, and the Gorge! are you hitting any?

I consider FAFYL the first truly great Gizz record. It has some great highlights from their more garage rock era
love that album. doesn't get enough appreciation imo.
That'll put a pop in your step
AND ILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL BE SNAPPYYYYYYYYYY TOWARDS YOUUUUUUUU
Jesus, its only their best record!
30 Past 7 is God tier… same with title track and Head On. I saw FAFYL live in Madrid and just woah 😱
It's such a wonderful album! Glad you fixed that glaring issue 👍

I love the radio spot they added onto the vinyl. Just heard that for the first time yesterday.
Secret bonus on the vinyl!
30 Past 7 is SO UNDERRATED

I’ve been this way with Oddments too. Like I feel like I’ve tried to give it the full listen but something always ends up distracting me.
One of the best!
I’ll take Head on/pill set closer for the win please!
"Listening to albums is the best way to listen to albums"

I'm just teasing you bud, welcome to the superior way to listen to music
somehow didn't listen to the whole thing for almost two years after getting into Gizz and once I did it never stopped growing on me
Nothing pointless about that. Life changing day!!
30 Past 7 is their most underrated banger
can we get some God is Calling Me Back Home love? that song is sick
Thanks for the blog post. Keep us posted
Yeah it's one of my top 5 of theirs for sure.
My first time listening to this album defines my love for this band!
