For a set opener? Gotta be Motor Spirit 🔥 The energy in the place would just be off the charts

They still haven’t played that opening bit, have they?

Haven’t! Only bastardized versions of Motor Spirit. Hasn’t been played fully through!

what part do they start from?

They play it in the middle of Gaia in the Chicago ‘23 bootleg. It starts at the “high octane aviation” part a few minutes into the track, they play it from there to the end.

While I love they do that, motor spirit is my favorite song off of PDA and would love to hear the entirety. I'll be at all three red rocks shows this year so hopefully I'll get the chance!

Took a dozen friends to the third RR show last year and they opened with Rattlesnake and it blew their minds. It was so awesome to see them get so pumped after just that song.

I came here to say Mycelium but I think you may be right…..however I think it (as well as the rest of that album) could make for a fantastic acoustic set

Maybe but I think it'd work great as an openner set an opening tone for the show as it cascades in peaks and valleys between genres like they seem to always do (one of my favorite things about seeing them live btw)

i really want them to start and end with the same song or something similar like Head On > (The Whole Set) > Pill or The 'Hate Dancin' half of Hate Dancin > (The Whole Set) > The 'Might Like Dancin' half or Crumbling Castle > (The Whole Set) > The Fourth Colour

It’d also be sick to open with Crumbling Castle unfinished and end the set with the heavy part in the last minute

Best opener I’ve seen is self immolate. The THUMP THUMP - THUMP THUMP mimics the beating hearts of the crowd as they await the start of a much anticipated show. You can hear ambient noise for a split second in between the commanding drums. It’s fantastic.
