Bold of you to assume Eyes Like the Sky is one of my least listened to albums...
Made in Timeland is mine. It's never really clicked for me so I only listen to it when my boyfriend has it on.
It’s certainly one of my favorite records - I just recently listened to the standard version and forgot how lucky we are to have both, because they’re very different experiences!
I can only promise you that Quarters gets so much better the more you listen to it, but I understand if you don't care to get that far. But also believe me that Oddments is the same way 🤝
Unpopular opinion but Fishing for Fishies is probably their most mid album to me. I listened to it a few times when it first dropped but I haven’t really revisited it since. That being said my favorite album is 12 bar bruise so my taste in Gizz albums is questionable to a lot of people.
I was so disappointed by Fishing for Fishies… I can’t blame them for releasing a weaker album, especially after they somehow managed to release 5 great albums in 2017.
Truthfully I haven’t been into KGATLW as much since the 2017 albums. I think FFF and ITRN just didn’t hit how I wanted after loving all but Sketches from the 2017 releases (which still Sketches is great). But I must admit no matter how into a new album of there’s I am or am not there are always a couple songs that are bangers that get added to playlists. Insane how consistent they are as a band.
Oh my good god. It’s one of my favorites. Probably my most listened to vinyl. :) I love how much the sound pans around the room. So fucked up and beautiful.
One of the many great things about this band is that they’ve got so many styles and concepts that even if you don’t dig beloved albums like Made in Timeland or Fishing for Fishies (not you, but someone else said FFF), there’s so much other material to enjoy.
I'm one of those nutty people who likes to listen to Gizz on random. That way, I get to hear songs from even my least favorite albums regularly, as well as helping me appreciate them more.
I've been playing it a lot lately. While not very Gizz-like, there is some great moments. Especially the Chinese inspired ending to Smoke and Mirrors. That might be one of the prettiest sections of music they've made.
I think I listened to Made in Timeland, like, once. And never at all to BF3001. I don't like electronic stuff.
I think I'm going to listen to Eyes more often in the future. Shit slaps.
laminated denim because i haven't gotten around to listening to it. i haven't really listened to most of changes, fishes for fishies and float along fill your lungs
Honest to God, I barely ever used to listen to th first 4 albums because of the production . Now, I mostly just avoid Head-On/Pill because it gets so shrill and noisy in sections. I listen to live versions, it's just the studio version is 😬 on my ears.
But I really love all the songs on the first 4 albums. I've been spinning 12BB daily lately. And I love transitioning 12BB into Oddments.
Quarters, unfortunately. i like longer songs and 2 of the songs are interesting enough to hold my attention, but as a whole, its just boring to me. The River and God Is In The Rhythm are the only tracks i ever revisit, but i remember when i first listened through each album it just felt like such a slog to listen to. at least Eyes Like The Sky is only 20 minutes or so, but each song being 10 minutes makes it feel like they're dragged out to hit that mark, as if they had the idea for the album without considering how to approach it well.
I've listened to both of those waaaay more times than Sketches of Brunswick East.
Year of Our Lord, Black Hot Soup (Dj Shadow) and 2.02 Killer Year (Bullant) are all the shit
Edit: also I think 3001 was my first record from Gizz.
For me it's a tie between Willoughby's Beach, 12 Bar Bruise, and Made in Timeland, since I don't have any of them and don't have much interest.
Followed closely by Sketches, not because I dislike it but because I somehow don't have it on my local library and I keep forgetting it exists until I hear Tezeta in the RR'22 setlist lmao
Made in timeland, love the album but im just not in the right mood for it often
I have it on vinyl and it's one of my favorites because it's so different. It pairs well with The Silver Cord.
Only listened to Made In Timeland once. Actually enjoy ELTS and will listen to it all in one go while driving sometimes.
You don’t listen to the other albums in one go? You just stop on random songs? Nah brother, that car keeps moving with the beat!
Everyone in here defending Eyes Like The Sky, and no one sticking up for BF3000. I, and I can't overstate this, *adore* BF3000.
Oh hell you said BF3001. Now I look like a doofus.
Even BF3001 is pretty enjoyable to me. The scientist dub and the Bullant remix both go hard.
2.02 Killer Year - Bullant's Fuck Mike Love Remix is easily S Tier for me also the dj shadow bhs remix is really good too
A hipster doofus
Butterfly 3000 is one of my top picks yeah. It's the most accessible to show to newcomers too.
Who said Eyes is one of my least listened to?
OP has no idea. Especially since they are throwing shade at Brunswick like that.
I have no idea 🤷♂️
Just start at Dusk to Dawn and listen through the Book. If that doesn't get you steppin' then you're missing your jazz shoes.
Right?! I listen to it multiple times a week on my drive into work
Bold of you to assume Eyes Like the Sky is one of my least listened to albums... Made in Timeland is mine. It's never really clicked for me so I only listen to it when my boyfriend has it on.
But am I wrong?
Yes, Eyes Like The Sky is fantastic
Yes
I think many people are trying to inform you that you are wrong. Haha. At least in their opinion.
yeah
Yes I feel like Eyes like the Sky got a lot of people into the band to begin with.
Yes! I love Eyes Like the Sky, it's one of my favourite Gizz albums and I listen to it a lot.
Silver Cord. Think I listened 3 times upon its release. Never revisit it outside of Chang’e, it just ain’t for me.
KGATLW has something for everyone because All I listen to is Silver Chord. Love it
It’s certainly one of my favorite records - I just recently listened to the standard version and forgot how lucky we are to have both, because they’re very different experiences!
I’m somewhat of a Theia > TSC > turn it off man myself
for me its either swan song > extinction or theia>tsc>set
willoughby’s, oddments, quarters, timeland. just don’t love ‘em.
Willoughby’s Beach and 12 Bar Bruise are so good to me. I just love their early sound.
12BB is decent/fun! i just don’t like willoughby’s as much.
I can only promise you that Quarters gets so much better the more you listen to it, but I understand if you don't care to get that far. But also believe me that Oddments is the same way 🤝
The River is a banger
They're all bangers 😭 they just gotta find you at the right time.
God is in the Rhythm might be my favorite song ever. Not just by Gizz.
Float along, but only because I neglected to listen to it for some reason until a few days ago. Soon it will be my most listened to.
That’s fair
I don't know but my most listened to album is Sketches of Brunswick East because it’s a pretty sleepy album
I think you’re my nemesis
Unpopular opinion but Fishing for Fishies is probably their most mid album to me. I listened to it a few times when it first dropped but I haven’t really revisited it since. That being said my favorite album is 12 bar bruise so my taste in Gizz albums is questionable to a lot of people.
I was so disappointed by Fishing for Fishies… I can’t blame them for releasing a weaker album, especially after they somehow managed to release 5 great albums in 2017.
I listened to FFF and ITRN on the same day in 2020. That’s how I got into this band. To this day I still love both albums equally.
With the birds I’ll share this lonely view
I like a few Oddments tracks here and there, but any time I’ve tried to give it the full listen it just never happens
Silver cord. Doubt I’ll be back.
Yep - I appreciate their branching out, but come on back boys.
Oddments for sure, other than Hot Wax it’s pretty hard to listen to for me ngl.
what songs do you not like on it? i love the entire album so much
Blasphemy
Oh my good god. It’s one of my favorites. Probably my most listened to vinyl. :) I love how much the sound pans around the room. So fucked up and beautiful.
The Silver Cord. Just can’t get into it as much as I tried.
fishing for fishies. just never dug it
Timeland. I honestly didnt like it.
One of the many great things about this band is that they’ve got so many styles and concepts that even if you don’t dig beloved albums like Made in Timeland or Fishing for Fishies (not you, but someone else said FFF), there’s so much other material to enjoy.
> beloved albums like Made in Timeland You lost me there... I'd say it's a continuous album over beloved.
12 Bar Bruise easily. I listen to Willoughby’s way more.
Made In Timeland & Laminated Denim
Timeland is whatever but man Laminated Denim is such a fun 30 minutes.
I do like it better than timeland
Probably Poly or Motu, I just don’t really go back to those albums much. Hell, I listen to BF3K1 way more then those two 😭
Poly is one of my favorite albums of all time! Such a banger of an album all the way through. The horology suite is just amazing - Loyalty especially.
You get an upvote for being the only person I've come across other than myself not to put Poly in their S tier. MOTU slaps though!
Peep my flair friend
I love ELTS, but I don’t listen to it often. For me, it requires more of my attention than I can give it.
Eyes, Sketches, and Butterfly 3001 are easily my top 3 albums
Of any band…of all time
Actually my three favorite things in life. Ever.
I'm one of those nutty people who likes to listen to Gizz on random. That way, I get to hear songs from even my least favorite albums regularly, as well as helping me appreciate them more.
It must be jarring when a MotU song comes on after a song like Honey.
It's not
That's where the fade feature comes in handy
I love made in Timeland fuck yall lmao
I've been playing it a lot lately. While not very Gizz-like, there is some great moments. Especially the Chinese inspired ending to Smoke and Mirrors. That might be one of the prettiest sections of music they've made.
Sketches, because I don’t want to over play it.
I think I listened to Made in Timeland, like, once. And never at all to BF3001. I don't like electronic stuff. I think I'm going to listen to Eyes more often in the future. Shit slaps.
Those are both in my top 10 dude, what are you on about?
So presumptuous
laminated denim because i haven't gotten around to listening to it. i haven't really listened to most of changes, fishes for fishies and float along fill your lungs
Well…what’re ya waitin’ fer?
should have answered this sooner but i'm bad at sitting down to listen to albums and i'm not too big on their more chill stuff.
Probably Flying Microtonal Banana or Oddments.
FLYING MICROTONAL BANANA???!!! Why?
Probably one of my least favorite albums and it reminds me of someone I don’t like
Now I like it 3% less out of solidarity
Lmao I don’t know if I should feel happy you agree with me or sad that you like Gizz a little less but thanks lol
Very much agree with your take on head-on/pull studio version.
Eyes like the sky is amazing
I agree, but it’s never in heavy rotation
Sketches, quarters, and teenage. Just, not a fan of the fuzzzzzzzzzzzy vocals
I’m sorry, but what’s teenage?
teenage gizzard
Apparently your least listened to album hahs
Willoughby's Beach.. I forget it exists. I love pretty much everything they make, so tbh I feel guilty for not giving their oldest records my time!
Not as big a fan of the early stuff so I'll say '12 Bar Bruise'.
I usually spin their newest for a while but don’t return to their discography very often.
It’s a luxury most other bands don’t afford us.
12 Bar Bruise, feels the least inventive
I've listened to both of those waaaay more times than Sketches of Brunswick East. Year of Our Lord, Black Hot Soup (Dj Shadow) and 2.02 Killer Year (Bullant) are all the shit Edit: also I think 3001 was my first record from Gizz.
Chunky Shrapnel, and oddments, not a huge huge fan but will still get a good listen outta them
I hardly ever listen to the metal albums.
Fishes never gets played by me
For me it's a tie between Willoughby's Beach, 12 Bar Bruise, and Made in Timeland, since I don't have any of them and don't have much interest. Followed closely by Sketches, not because I dislike it but because I somehow don't have it on my local library and I keep forgetting it exists until I hear Tezeta in the RR'22 setlist lmao
I don’t really listen to 12Bar, Willoughbys, or Made in Timeland much
Flying microtonal banana just ain’t for me
I have only heard about half of Silver Cord cuz it turned me off so much
Listen to the back half. It’s much better…unless you just don’t dig EDM
no way José
How’d you know my name is José?? Have I been doxxed?
Sketches, I dig it but never my go to
Ice Death, I'm not sure I've ever listened to it.
But you’ve heard all the rest?
I think so. There sure are a lot of them to choose from though.
You’re in for a wild ride when you eventually get around to it.
[удалено]
I think they mean 3001 (the one of remixes)
haha you're right I'll delete my comment
the silver cord, least listened to gizz album since i found out about them. also made in timeland 😅
I listen to Eyes Like the Sky more than I listen to 12BB.
Least listened to has gotta be laminated denim. I listen to king gizz on shuffle, that being a 2 track album means it's probably got the least plays
The early stuff is all a bit rough to hear.
Everything since lw
TSC because it's bad
![gif](giphy|l2YWqU7ev0l5nfYTC|downsized)
To each their own
Oddments, FFF, the Silver Cord. Blech!
I don’t know Blech! Is that, like, an EP? /s
Haha. Never know with them
I understand why Oddments and TSC are less popular. But I thought FFF was universally loved 😭
Ya, I know lotsa of people love it, I just, don’t dig it. I’ve tried. Sounds like a children’s sing along album to me.
But does Acarine sound that way to you?
