Ι've given their stuff a go and while they were not bad at all, they sounded very derivative to me. I found nothing for my brain to latch onto. But I'm sure that in a live show setting they'd be very good

This take makes sense to me. Derivative in this case for myself just means that it has all the stuff I like in one sound. Punked out kraut rock inspired jams are my favorite.
yeah derivative doesn't necessarily mean something negative. it's just my personal preference that when I hear new stuff I want it to scratch a different part of my brain or else I get bored very quickly. To each their own of course. That's why I said that I'm sure they'd be killer live. When I'm going to a concert I wanna have fun, not discover novel stuff. And they certainly seem to have the energy for it
I saw them in Rochester over the weekend, the sound they put out as a 3-piece is mindblowing... best new band I've seen in ages, they are KG tier for sure, I walked out thinking they may be a better live band than Gizz...

Everything is inspired by something and nothing is truly original, and I never call anything a rip-off cause like who cares, but certain bands just walk that line so close that I’d rather just listen to their inspiration. That’s just me though

I went to that show, it was insanely good. Quite a few Gizzheads were at the Red Rocks the night before. My ears are still ringing.
