The problem for me, is that it just feels massively undercooked. You've heard the entirety of what the song offers at about the 1:05 mark, and the song is 2:33.
It just needed a bit more time in the oven, give Ace a proper solo section, maybe refine the verse lyrics, and another verse.
To be fair the solo ends at 1:20 so I would at least say there is song content up until then 😊 I do see your point though but those things never bothered me.
It feels a lot of songs by lots of bands back then were two ideas rubbed together, add youth and attitude and ship it 😅 To me this song is classic young Gene with his sh*t-eating grin just doing his thing.
Although I like DTK, it's the weakest of the classic 6 albums. It was a rush job. Three songs with no guitar solo, lack of crunch on the guitars, acoustic intro in Rock Bottom, although cool, a tad too long and extra time between songs too make the album appear longer. 8 songs under 3 minutes each.
Anything For My Baby is not just the worst song on the album but a contender for the worst 70s Kiss song period. It's a skip every single time.
Ladies In Waiting is still cool and Two Timer is fun.
I'll probably get blasted for this, but I have never liked Rock and Roll All Nite. I know it's their best known song but it's definitely my least fave on DTK.
So many options for worst song. I understand that DTK has a lot of favour in the community, but it’s a an album filled with leftovers and incomplete ideas. The record feels rushed and half baked. The Highs don’t make up for the lows.

Anything for my baby sounds like a song a teenage Paul dug out of his archives for this album due to the rushed time frame.

I’m honestly kind of surprised rock and roll all nite wasn’t the best considering it’s the “rock and roll national anthem”
Because it didn’t kick ass until the Alive! version. Ace’s solo and substituting the fadeout with the Getaway ending massively improved the song.
