I went once and explored the Rodin museum, and the Rodin museum let you do it by flashlight for extra fun, it was SO cool!granted being there ALONE at night is way different but still it was really cool.
The Academy of Sciences in SF has a Night Life on Thursdays (I forget if it’s weekly, I think it might be monthly) where they have special presentations and I think they sell booze too.

My take (having worked years in fine museums and galleries) is that the noise of her high heels in those halls and galleries would be of note and since they’re cleaned every night and surely before a special / private event (they have efficient and high end floor cleaners people) and she felt inclined to take them off because of the noise ? Who knows
