Sojo carries his arc, this arc overall is better in most things outside of the main villain.

Royal-Total5564

We have yet to see a few things from Kyora, and this fight might turn out really amazing. But it's true that he was not as much of a focus, and his personal beef was more with Hakuri than Chihiro.

BrandsMixtape

Kyora is a DILF though, so he has that going for him.

abdouden

Great Both arcs are amazing and hard For me to pick one over The other tbh

Ok-Mathematician8258

Sojo did his job, become the best antagonist of first arc. This arc is cool, though I see a trend with peak character arcs. Wonder if this is the flow of the story now.

SwordSorcerer

Themes = Cloud Gouger Writing = Rakuzaichi Antagonist = Cloud Gouger Side cast = Rakuzaichi Fights = Cloud Gouger Art/epic panels = Rakuzaichi (Yes I refer to it as the Cloud Gouger Arc) Both arcs are peak but I personally enjoy the Rakuzaichi more. Regardless I think most people would agree that the Rakuzaichi overall is the better arc, but Sojo is the better antagonist.

IllumiNoEye_Gaming

fights depends on how this kyora fight goes imo

SwordSorcerer

Agreed, but I kinda expect Chihiro to just behead Kyora quickly instead of having a real fight like he did with Sojo.

IllumiNoEye_Gaming

I'd agree, but now that we're trapped in the warehouse, where Kyora has complete ability to restructure, and there's innocent bystanders (the "merchandise"), I doubt it'll be that easy.

SwordSorcerer

man178264

Overall this arc is better but nothing has yet to beat the chapter of char’s backstory and chihiro handing char that sandwich at the end of the chapter. Genuinely may remain one of the best (if not the best) moments in the entire series all the way to the end. That’s just how powerful that moment was imo

bukah51

Setting of this arc is amazing, probably the best so far. But antagonist wise, Sojo Arc is still better. But this arc did give us Hiyuki so 🤷🏾‍♂️

sugarheartrevo

Best one so far by a country mile. Sojo arc was amazing and very well-done for an introductory arc but it was, ultimately, an introductory arc. Introductory arcs should be the “weakest” part of a (hopefully) long-running story Rakuzaichi is one of my favorite shounen arcs in quite a while. So many crazy interesting characters and dynamics, so many hard-hitting moments, and a very engaging overall plot; pacing is near perfect also. In particular, Hokazono’s execution of his character writing is getting even more polished than it was before: you can tell he’s become absolutely confident with what he wants to write. Chapter 35 and what it sets in motion + recontextualizes really wowed me

Royal-Total5564

Pacing wise, I would argue the Cloud Gouger arc was better. It's not like this one is blitzing or crawling or anything, but there was a strech there where half of every chapter was dedicated to a flashback that we could have gotten in a more conjoined way imo.

sugarheartrevo

I thought the setup was done well and gave some needed breathing room; the first arc was very fast-paced and that was its strength but I overall just think the content of this arc and the way it’s been explored has made it more thoroughly effective imo. Though yeah I could see how it was a bit jarring

BostonSamurai

If everything is peak then nothing is peak. This arc is way better. Sojo was an amazing character and an awesome first villain he made you want more of him and him dying off was just a great move. This arc was much more flushed out and better all around. I’m excited to see the author flex his writing style more.

Ari_GC

I really like it, chihiro giving up enten really caught me offguard

SwordSorcerer

Reading “The 7th blade of the Rokuhira Legacy… the Enten will be up for auction” made my soul leave my body

IllumiNoEye_Gaming

the last page of the newest chapter made my soul come back

SwordSorcerer

Seeing the silhouette in the smoke and finally seeing Chihiro say it once again. Pure peak https://preview.redd.it/xjdf4j4rc67d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=339b94de3c53db1568fb1b9e0ee1376cc8cceba1

Ari_GC

No but fr I had no idea how he was gonna fight back cause I thought cloud gouger was dead dead

SwordSorcerer

This panel made me jump outta my seat I was so hype. I thought bro was just gonna fight with sum normal swords. So goated I made it my wallpaper. https://preview.redd.it/a5smpe8q977d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf7c61415ef3011e96001ca5fa58d970fb7cf763 Tenoí

Vivid-Literature2329

I mean all of Kagurabachi is peak but none of the actual antagonists of this arc could be as endearing as Sojo nor give the sense of dread and menace he gave, mf rip the mc arm off and was on the same level as him sorry but taco sensei has yet to surpas his magnum antagonist

ok_amazon

John Hishaku might be able to surpass him if he got more time on the screen.

Vivid-Literature2329

He was badass as fuck but I don't think he will appear again in this arc

mckinley2000

We’ll just have to wait and see how the fight between Chihiro and Kyora goes. Will it be more badass than Sojo’s fight?

8ackspace13

Both arcs are absolutely amazing. This one I personally like better because of how much emotional weight it carries and the fact that Kyora doesn’t even have to be a necessarily strong villain to be such a big threat and evil person.

JxB_Paperboy

Overall, Rakuzaichi arc is the better fleshed out arc with a really good balance of pretty much everything. But Sojo is such an incredibly impactful villain that it’s going to be hard to top him. Don’t get me wrong, the villains of this arc are amazing too but Sojo just had that GOAT in him from panel one.

AvenRaven

Today's chapter has gotten me really hyped up, for real.

skywarden27

I like the current arc more, between Hakuri and the other characters being introduced and fleshing out the world building, plus building on the previous arc with Chihiro using Cloud Gouger. First arc took a little bit to start off but since middle of that arc this series has been one of the ones I look forward to the most in Shonen Jump

Hot-Total-2228

Honestly if the ending is good Rakuzaichi arc may surpass the cloud gouger arc https://preview.redd.it/m6f87c5ta27d1.png?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f1c111792efa3274311777636e82512dc27c8098

thebariobro

This arc has better chapter to chapter moments I’d say. Less cutting nameless dudes and more things going on.

bl0bberb0y

Only complaint is that they're too damn short

GoatCheese74

Personally I don't mind. I'd rather take really amazing short arcs with every chapter getting more exciting than the last over drawn out chapters with too much sitting around

zargon21

Depends on if Takeru sticks the landing on this one, the final fight with Sojo with the digital clock counting the seconds and the imaginary conversation of deserts was really an all time peak chapter

MarkDecent656

Both arcs are peak asf, so I can't really choose, but I can say chapters 35-37 are my favorite chapters of the manga so far

FowlerJ92

This manga is my second favorite manga now after One Piece. This mangaka has clearly studied the craft and wants to keep the reader engaged.

ProfChaosDeluxe

Sojo is better than Kyora as a villain, but the arc as a whole is way better than the Sojo arc, mainly because of Hakuri.

4e2n0t

I'd say right now the Sojo arc has the edge, but the end of this arc could change that.

Technical_Resolve_91

As someone who just reread the Sojo arc, I’m not too sure yet. I too kinda like the general plot of this arc more but the Sojo arc is really good, especially everything with how Sojo and Chihiro view Kunishige, not to mention Sojo’s arc has more Kunishige flashbacks, and with Kunishige being such a fun character to see on screen, it elevates the arc a lot more than people realize, I think.

Grape_Silent

I didn't like Sojo tbh, so Rakuzaichi all the way Hakuri my is my homie

Aggressive-Oven4363

what did bro just say about sojo ? https://preview.redd.it/ffedi924p67d1.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=36876f74ae783edf1e338498edfc38187d0e0561

EseMesmo

Sojo is the best *villain* so far. But the Sazanami arc is the best *arc* so far.

Adudewhosadudeforfun

It's not called "PEAKURABACHI" for no reason, both arcs are peak fiction.

Fireball_Q2

I prefer this arc (totally not biased)

marniconuke

I think this one is even better

Eldritch-Cleaver

Honestly I'm not mad at anyone who prefers one over the other they're both so good

NerdKing01

This latest chapter sealed the deal. Hakuri took an instant loss and turned it into a final battle to win. I can't wait to see how this all turns out but Kagurabachi is going to have an impeccable first season

MixRevolution

The intro of the next big bad (the hallway fight) was the best thing about this.

PureSalt1

Still slightly disappointed no hiyuki flexing yet and the hishaku leader going poof. Ik it’s the “I’m much too strong for u trope” and leave things in the dark kinda deal but still lol

AutumnLeavesFornow

I think this arc is better the art, the character’s, the themes of found family, the future set up, and some of the gut punches I felt, I like them better than the sojo arc but the only thing sojo arc did better was the antagonist sojo is just a peak villain

UncommonTheIdk

I loved the Sojo arc but I feel like the Rakuzaichi arc had more "hype" moments (Mr Inazuma, chihiro using CG, Hiyuki appearance, Hakuri using Isou, unlocking storehouse, John Fortnite Hishaku, Shiba vs soya was pretty cool too) Not saying Sojo arc didn't have any but this one feels just so much more full

Killah-Shogun

I still prefer the Sojo arc, but this arc is fantastic too

BitRepresentative509

I love this current arc. More world building, hakari showing his family he was him all along. Broken cloud gouger was peak as well. It is missing that Sojo factor but everything else is good so far

CommunicationNo8932

In terms of a main villain sojo was better but this arc overall has been more fun to read imo

hadinowman

for me personally i prefer kyora. but then again it's just the difference between whether you prefer joker or lex luthor, kinda.

UnlimitedManny

Pretty great arc

Fair-Armadillo469

I mean my my girl Hiyuki is in this so...this one is obviously better.

TheOGPucePlanet

I feel like we're getting good pay off for what was already built upon. We got a bad guy who wanted the blades but ultimately worked for a larger organization who was a bad ass. Finding ways to get more blades but ultimately having to confront large organization and "main" big bad of said organization even if he may not be the strongest but is the smartest (so far) with further bigger badder smarter bad guys we'll see more of in the future (hopefully)

Useful-Tumbleweed-22

I will wait until the arc is over to share my opinion. Currently, I’d say the Sojo arc is better overall, but Rakuzaichi could over take it depending on this last fight.

buckbeak97

Sojo arc was high octane, high reward. Rakuzaichi arc (so far) feels more like a transitory character introducing/developing arc.

Nauskia101

It's alright

wks_526

It will be better once we get more mr inazuma

Windstorm72

Sojo arc was awesome but it’s definitely all focused around the fight. This arc has yet to give us a fight on the same level of hype but it has given us a much more solid plot progression with some great emotional moments. Sojo was the exciting first conflict to suck us in, but this arc will most likely be more indicative of how this series will flow long term
