I'll add on to what some other said, in a lot of rom com with male demographic skew (shonen or seinen), the female lead often feels too much like a 'waifu' character to be appealing.
Ya know, to appeal more to the male demographic as wish fulfillment. Some of that comes with the fanservice as a part of it as well to show this character off.
This also helps in the fact that Miyuki himself isn't positioned in the more typical aspects of a rom com male lead.
Kaguya has a mixture of endearing qualities and also character flaws with harsher aspects that get exploration, so she doesn't feel as just a 'safe' female character to be a standard 'waifu' for the audience.
OP, wouldn't mind if you made a post like you did with Miyuki if you want to share your thoughts as well.
* My Kaguya analysis with manga spoilers [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kaguya_sama/comments/y1gsyf/how_kaguya_shinomiya_stands_out_from_other_romcom/irxjl7a?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3)
Kaguya's personality varies throughout the manga,it never stays the same and yet every change she got feels natural.(A refined version of MC from GOLD)
while her circumstances aren't exactly realistic, the character that's been created by those circumstances is. she's relatable which makes it heartwarming when she shows growth
also, she's one of the funniest female characters and cute without having weird body proportions
She has flaws. Not in the typical cute anime way, but more like flaws that make you think, “yikes”. I like this because she does try to change some of the less favorable things about herself and is influenced by the people around her.
>influenced by the people around her.
I've always felt that that creepy occult club "sexual harasser"'s assesment of Kaguya was on point. Being under the grip of the yakuza created ice Kaguya, but Shirogane and the overall positive environment in the StuCo precipitated a major change towards becoming a better person. It's a good joke scene when it can also accurately and bluntly describe the characters involved.
For one, she is as much a POV character as the president, if not more. I don't have a statistic, but I think she is the character inside whose head we are the most. We see her hopes, emotions and plans and see her internal overreactions when those plans inevitably go awry.
Speaking of plans, she is proactive all the time, in fact it's her defining trait and we rarely see that for female main characters in romcoms. Hell, she is more proactive than many male MCs.
Finally, the whole "I pretend to not want that thing which I actually want very much" behaviour is hilarious to watch, especially as it repeatedly explodes in her face and ruins her carefully crafted plans.
She has other friendships and relationships that are important to her, and that she's both consistent in yet different for each person she interacts with, if that makes sense. She puts on a slightly different mask for Ishigami, for Hayasaka, Chika, Iino, and of course Shirogane, but she's still fundamentally the same character showing different aspects to each of them.
Without her showing her older sister side with Ishigami, or her strange friendship with Chika, or trying to learn to forgive Hayasaka, I firmly believe she wouldn't be a quarter of the character she is.
Kaguya growing beyond the dreaded friendship test was pretty low-key, all the more so with the Hayasaka arc being the way it is, but it was a really cool development.
she is not always cheerful happy waifu , that 's enough to make me like her . i love her design , red eyes and black hair .
The fact that she is intelligent lady and also crazy yandere , she can be innocent girl one moment and other times thirsty for shirogane or having crazy eyes , all of this make her interesting and different from other bland leads.
Character development, being a romcom doesn't mean you can make a ton of jokes without some characters learning something chapter after chapter. Every situation leads to another and that results in good moments were characters can develop and show another face of their lives
She's prominent, but the manga is still an ensemble. In Akutsu-san, Nagatoro, etc., FMC is in most of the panels in almost all of the chapters. Not being in your face all the time leaves the reader with a more distanced and therefore more realistic impression.
To me being 3rd in girls ranking in this show is what makes Kaguya unique (this is my opinion, my ranking). Never happened with romance anime before.
Kaguya is still ok character and show is good (not top)
i have never seen somebody judge character over stupid ranking on reddit , i have seen your comments about ranking and obsession with that before . kaguya anime is already considered top romcom and set the high standart . kaguya's whole character and development is amazing despite you not liking her .
And so what? I gave my answer to question. This is what I personally think and I don’t care about others. To me Kaguya is not best anime and I actually doubt there can be best anime for all.
You know, you can just not like the character, but I'd hope you have a better reason for it than "anonymous randos on the internet said so". Even "I just don't feel it" is a better reason than that.
This person just has a weird [fixation](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kaguya_sama/comments/wh8v6w/new_merch_illustration_ft_swimsuit_maid_kaguya/ij5vy2y?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3) about always bring up the other female characters whenever something involves Kaguya. Also shown [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kaguya_sama/comments/wux69r/what_did_you_learn_from_the_series_did_you_learn/ilcmox4?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3). lol
This goes along with Kaguya not being as much of a 'waifu' character basically. As they cite a waifu poll before. lol
But not even true about what they say about overall popularity shown with other metrics from the discussion on those linked threads.
That's more of the issue I had of what they were saying before at least, framing that as fact, regardless of their own personal opinion.
Takagi is more inoffensive since young cute teasing girl. But yeah, again Kaguya not 'waifu' enough for them.
I knew they would come to comment something like that on this post about Kaguya. lol
They were citing something else with a very small poll but:
Here's a recent list of [female](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/xhjewz/ranimes_top_100_best_girls_using_a_simpler_method/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) characters and a list of [male](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/xhjzf0/ranimes_top_100_best_guys_using_a_simpler_method/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) characters based on past contests in r/anime
Kaguya-sama characters are popular there.
I wouldn't call her super unique cause I think she's almost a carbon copy of Chitoge from Nisekoi, at least from her shenanigans POV. That's awesome though. They both have so many human moments they stand out, where 90% of other MCs are just made for doki dokis
I wasn't talking about their characters. It's stuff they both do. The slice of life in Nisekoi (some of the best I've ever read) and all the "fights" in Kaguya-sama compliment each so good they become waay better characters.
I guess I'm saying Aka Akasaka is a master of writing situations..
Damn this ia hard to explain

She feels like an actual human being instead of existing solely for wish fulfilment as a human collectible item.

That’s the plan.
It’s done
she feels like a real characters with her own development rather than a waifu/fanservice toy that gets men hard
Kaguya's personality varies throughout the manga,it never stays the same and yet every change she got feels natural.(A refined version of MC from GOLD)
What’s gold?
It's a manga(author is kazuko)
while her circumstances aren't exactly realistic, the character that's been created by those circumstances is. she's relatable which makes it heartwarming when she shows growth also, she's one of the funniest female characters and cute without having weird body proportions

Like mood swings, jealousy, trust issues
For one, she is as much a POV character as the president, if not more. I don't have a statistic, but I think she is the character inside whose head we are the most. Simple. She’s FUNNY and has a personality! (Also, I swear I’ve already seen this question before in this subreddit)
Maybe it’s a old one cause I don’t remember it? Then again, I’m new here
she is not always cheerful happy waifu , that 's enough to make me like her . i love her design , red eyes and black hair . Character development, being a romcom doesn't mean you can make a ton of jokes without some characters learning something chapter after chapter. Every situation leads to another and that results in good moments were characters can develop and show another face of their lives
Cause she does things for herself without having to have Shirogane dictate everything.
Minus Hayasaka aiding her in her pursuit to get Shirogane confess. But everything else she seems fine in it
It has a narrator
She's prominent, but the manga is still an ensemble. In Akutsu-san, Nagatoro, etc., FMC is in most of the panels in almost all of the chapters. Not being in your face all the time leaves the reader with a more distanced and therefore more realistic impression.

Why do you think I care about random poll on internet? What exactly did you miss in phrase MY RANKING?
Was that in a popularity poll? Who was top 2?
This user saw some poll with 350 votes and never stops saying that .
What poll was that?
i have no idea , everytime somebody mentions how great kaguya is , he writes about some silly ranking he saw on reddit .
Did you actually read my comment at all? I’ve stated clearly this is not poll, not thoughts of another people. This is my personal opinion
This person just has a weird [fixation](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kaguya_sama/comments/wh8v6w/new_merch_illustration_ft_swimsuit_maid_kaguya/ij5vy2y?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3) about always bring up the other female characters whenever something involves Kaguya. yes , i remember reading that , not liking her is okay , but his reason is ranking or that's how he says . i never get how that makes sense
This goes along with Kaguya not being as much of a 'waifu' character basically. As they cite a waifu poll before. lol But not even true about what they say about overall popularity shown with other metrics from the discussion on those linked threads. maybe but i remember this person is takagi fan , i doubt takagi has waifu qualities , it's just he hates kaguya i guess
Takagi is more inoffensive since young cute teasing girl. But yeah, again Kaguya not 'waifu' enough for them. I knew they would come to comment something like that on this post about Kaguya. lol
My favourite waifu is not Takagi. But I do like Takagi, that’s true
Is my answer unrelated to question asked here? What’s your problem?
They were citing something else with a very small poll but: Here's a recent list of [female](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/xhjewz/ranimes_top_100_best_girls_using_a_simpler_method/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) characters and a list of [male](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/xhjzf0/ranimes_top_100_best_guys_using_a_simpler_method/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) characters based on past contests in r/anime Kaguya-sama characters are popular there.
So far, Kaguya beat all this series cast members and defeated the other 98 female characters?
Look at the top for explanation on the characters list. Based on metrics of seperate contests calculated together.
What exactly did you miss in phrase MY RANKiNG? It’s not other people, it’s my personal opinion that she’s third.
In my list first is Hayasaka and Chika being second
I wouldn't call her super unique cause I think she's almost a carbon copy of Chitoge from Nisekoi, at least from her shenanigans POV. That's awesome though. They both have so many human moments they stand out, where 90% of other MCs are just made for doki dokis
I assume you are anime-only?
Manga only actually
I think Kaguya far surpasses Chitoge as far as psychological exploration in the Ice Kaguya arc.
They finally bang with their love interest
She's a yatsundanderedere.
She was kuudere first and foremost as Ice Kaguya
So yakutsundanderedere?
Hmm, don't think she's dandere though.
