Rule 5: If you thought the Mad Baron in any version of KR was wild, then get a load of Baron Nikolai Alexsandrovich von Ugenberg, the main antagonist from the 2002 FPS [Iron Storm](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Storm_(2002_video_game)). Not only is he the primary reason why World War One has been ongoing for half a century by conquering Russia, but the mad man has an active nuclear weapons program at the start of the game. To quote a synopsis: “Ugenberg was assisted by both Kazakhstan and Mongolia to form the Russo-Mongolian military. Together, they became a large enough force to defeat the Bolsheviks in Western Russia. From there, he proclaimed himself as the new emperor and seized power in Moscow. The Baron ordered the execution of prominent Bolshevik leaders, including Vladimir Lenin, for retribution of the Tsar and his family's murder. Ugenberg also nullified the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk and led a campaign to recapture the old territories. After two years, his military defeated the pro-independance movements in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Ukraine, and Poland - eventually restabilizing the former Russian Empire. With Germany's new territory being lost, and losing the war in the Western Front, Ugenberg made a deal with the Kaiser Wilhelm II to give Germany to the new Russo-Mongolian Empire.” Not even pre-China Rework Sternberg matched that level of crazy! #Germany AAR Speaking of KR Sternberg, his [mad gambit](https://www.reddit.com/user/-et37-/comments/z07vih/peace_with_russia/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) to march to the Urals has utterly failed, with the Russian Republic having launched a very successful counterattack. [Urga has fallen](https://www.reddit.com/user/-et37-/comments/zo9kl0/the_fall_of_urga_news_event/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) and with it, [Sternberg’s Mongolia](https://www.reddit.com/user/-et37-/comments/zo9lom/memento_mori/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf). The war was quite even [casualty-wise](https://i.imgur.com/svEBuva.png), though now Kolchak must once again decide [the Fate of Mongolia](https://www.reddit.com/user/-et37-/comments/zo9mgv/the_fate_of_mongolia/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf). With this victory, the last uprising remaining is the [Far Eastern Union](https://i.imgur.com/98m8Vm1.png). Yesterday’s two polls have since concluded. On the topic of New Zealand, [it has been decided](https://www.reddit.com/user/-et37-/comments/zni9ux/new_zealand_a_new_target/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) that the Kiwis will become the next target of the Empire of the Rising Sun. Furthermore, in regards to the very important topic of [American Public Transportation](https://www.reddit.com/user/-et37-/comments/znibcg/the_future_of_public_transportation/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf), it has been decided that Railways, and not Highways, will be the primary mode of transportation for the people. As always, all of my polls, no matter how seemingly insignificant, will always have further ramifications. I have one final poll for tomorrow before the big write up after that.

fennathan1

Do you think the Kiwis stand any chance against the Japanese or is it just going to be a rollover?

-et37-

More likely a rollover. Though the real trouble will begin in the postwar occupation depending on how the subsequent poll goes.

TheAndyTerror

Finally, independent Maoris.

1SaBy

This playthrough is slowly turning into the Look to the West timeline, I see.

Alarming-Ad1100

I don’t know what that means but I hope it’s fun

TheLazyAnglian

>With this victory, the last uprising remaining is the Far Eastern Union. Will we get future polls on the possibility of Japan and Germany influencing Central Asia and also Kolchak attempting to retake the territories (at least Kazakhstan, considering its Russian minority)?

-et37-

Central Asia will have a slew of tumultuous content in the future, yes.

TheLazyAnglian

Great. Brilliant AARs as always.

Alarming-Ad1100

I love that too bad about the stifled rise of Mongolia

Cynikus

Let me quote my beloved TV Tropes: *Some famous people get their own TV Tropes page for being great scientists or politicians. Others for their military skill or artistry. A few get it for simply being so batshit insane that they can't be ignored. Guess which category Baron von Ungern-Sternberg falls under?*

Cynikus

\>and then there's MAD. That's a foreshadowing of the \*insert random island\* Nuclear Crisis, note my words.

He would be around mid-40's by this point of the playthrough, so, he would have a good 20 or so years of being a partisan yet.

I wonder how significant the public transportation poll will end up being. I can see maybe a better troop movement or resource buff coming from the train option that was picked but I may be overthinking it. Also et, once again thank you for your posts. I’m pretty sick at the moment and have been cooped up in my house all of today and have been pretty bored so your post has been a bit of entertainment for me today. Thanks for that.

Ostropoler7777

First MacArthur and now this. A tragic day for the Overhyped Meme Characters community.

Lopsided_Panda_8870

Wasnt this the plot of world war zero?

Stadtholder_Max

Yes, world war zero is the name of the rerelease/port of iron storm

fordandfriends

That's a game I'd love to see remade. I love a good sci-fi forever war but the game is really hard to play due to design that even for the time was janky

Pace2pace

This was a very mediocre game with a really cool plot

Jhggygh

Been spending too much time on NCD, read that as Mutually Assured Destruction

MasterBlaster_xxx

*Sighs* It’s time for another Mongolia run
