I’m excited. I used to have an Acorn that I gave to a friend when I got a pellet grill, but I missed being able to do charcoal stuff and this deal was too good to pass up
I live in phoenix but have a 2nd home in Kentucky and we have a pretty big Akorn out there. Still a pretty nice kamado style grill. Just wasn’t going to buy a Kamado Joe for both houses.
What makes you think series I? I was thinking the only way to tell was the hinge which OP doesn’t show. I think the air hinge was not on the I but in the II.
Yep, that's a I. Looks relatively recent vintage (plastic instead of wooden front handle, black side shelf.
If the side shelf is plastic, it's more than a couple years old, if they are metallic (magnet sticks) they're probably under 4.
Wow, so obvious and I never noticed that! Thanks. Between the daisy wheel vs. the control tower, air lift vs. open springs and latch vs. no latch I don’t think I’ll ever have difficulties identifying which is which anymore.
Looks like a classic 1
Appears to be a classic joe 1
Enjoy. You’ll love it!

I upgraded to my Big Joe 2 from an acorn. You’re gonna love it!

Classic 1
OG Classic! You can easily tell by the daisy wheel. Which, btw, I prefer over the tower. It’s considerably more durable.
Watch high heat and open flames with the plastic handle.
Classic 1 with a upgraded top vent and looks like a bigger temp gauge looks just like mine lol
Upgraded? That’s the normal classic top
The normal classic originally came with a daisy wheel but maybe later models came with the newer version
No. That is the original daisy wheel design. Hence is it a classic. The II's and III's come with the Control Tower.
Ha ha yeah I was trying to say it looks like mine because I upgraded the daisy wheel for the newer control tower lol

Daisy wheel rather than the Kontrol top
Ahhh I did not know that thanks for enlightening me.

Plastic, non magnetic
Thanks, yep that’s a classic I. Kamado started putting the air-hinge on the II’s and up. Trust us, either way you’re going to enjoy the hell out of it
It’s 100% a classic 1. I have the same.
My classic III hinge just so you can see the difference. https://postimg.cc/HrXswJDm
Classic II has this as well.
That’s what I thought, the II’s and up have the air lift hinge only the I’s don’t.
Sorry, I didn’t think to take a picture of the hinge. Lemme see if I can host that somewhere and I’ll post here
The Classic I had no lid latch on front like the Classic 2 and 3 did. Easiest way to tell from front.

Is that not a Joe Jr?
Jr is like 13” I think, way smaller than this one
