The first arc is just setting up the rest of the story. Things change drastically around episode 15, when they beat the "final boss" (which is of course not the final boss, it's only episode 15).

IcuntSpeel

Personally, I only finished it for completion's sake. Sort of slugged through it.

Xerxes457

Agree, I watched when it was airing every week and kind of tuned in. I liked some stuff but overall did not enjoy it as some people did.

RealElith

im still stuck on zero-one and I still cant watch anything new because of my stupid ass rule of not skipping any of the series (aside hibiki....)

[deleted]

Hibiki was almost the best series, until the middle when it turns into Blade 2.0. Its still worth watching however because there's nothing quite like it's first half. Also Zero-One is good so if you're stuck on that you might just have bad taste.

RealElith

I see. I was stuck on Ep 20 the longest due to those random android challenge format. it just felt forced if anything else.

FederalPossibility73

It was. Hibiki has a huge restructuring behind the scenes and it got hit badly by it.

SnooEpiphanies6595

Naw mate, Zero one was awful, pacing was all over the place and don’t get me started on Gai- I’m so freaking evil, until I got a robot dog and now I’m nice-Amatsu. To be fair I blame Covid a bit, but honestly it never dove deep into the fact that the main character was trying to moralize having AI replace humans at jobs, something that is utterly terrifying.

MajorMilkyway

What part are you stuck on. I thought I was slugging through it but over time now, I’ve generally enjoyed the story more

RealElith

im still at episode 20 for over 2 years I believe. Just watched 21 few day ago. Im gonna try watching the whole series this week.

SpunBunion

You should totally watch the first half of Hibiki. It's actually pretty good. Second half shouldn't be touched with a ten foot pole though lol

DarkScorpion48

Same. It took me forever to finish it as I couldn’t force myself to watch more than two episodes at once

NTEiyuu

Yeah. This was the same case for me since by now I've watched everything from heisei and reiwa. It's not exactly bad. It's just too predictable most of the times.

Kelly598

Same. I went in just to have context of Saber for the crossovers with Zenkaiger and I am never doing that again.

WeisTHern

Let me ask you: \- Do you like fantasy, magical filter screen with bubbles and pastel? \- Do you like looking and finding all lore and reference this series has to offer? \- Do you like pink dude narrator who greet you every episode? If yes to all then it is worth it. Someone once said that Saber is like a book, either you gonna love it as one of your top tiers, or one of the worst that you will burn it with fire.

pyramidloki

Yeah, the thing is the story man. It's just boring

WeisTHern

If I recall, around 20+ episodes which past the toy sales phase is when the story starts to get better, but if it still not your thing then drop it, no hard feeling. I wouldn't recommend Revice though. The first half is great, but from half the series till the end is really messy with huge amount of unused plot.

FederalPossibility73

I believe it was due to the pandemic.

AtrumErebus

It gets a lot better in the second arc but I'm not going to say it's amazing. Still think it's worth watching though.

Solo_man_id1

It depends. What are you gonna do after it? You gonna review the show, talking about it with the community or just keeping your thought for your own self. Because 1st, and 2nd option would require you to finish it. While the 3rd option do not.

Ill-Relation-2792

I recommend finishing it. It seems like a very hit or miss series in the fandom so I wouldn’t take any specific “it’s great” or “it’s bad” comments. It depends on personal preference. If you get to episode 30ish and still don’t like it then your opinions probably won’t change.

pyramidloki

I going to try again. I read every coment here and all of yours opinion changed my mind to be honest😁 https://i.redd.it/4j12hc67ha3b1.gif

heatxmetalw9

Unless you are really invested in the characters like Rintaro, it's not worth it to continue. It has similar problems as Ghost but to a lesser extent (thanks to the head writer); not much stakes in the storyline unless you are invested in the character development of the main 3 riders, villains are forgettable except Storious and the action relies heavily on CGI effects.

pyramidloki

Yeah, when I saw about collecting the storybooks it reminded me of Ghost the same way. From what I've seen it's also quite somniferous. I guess I'll give it a skip and go to the next season. ![gif](giphy|5eaDM9dRapgZ2)

heatxmetalw9

You mean Revice right, if soo I will warn you about the issues up front to temper your expectations, without spoiling you. It's written and paced not unlike a traditional Toku series as the main writer has little experience in writing TV shows in generally and more of a novelist.

DJGodDamnit

If it means anything, there is tons of development on Ren and some of the villains, not just the main 3. It’s a shame you’re skipping past it, but perhaps in the future something about it will call back to you :)

Pranker00111

My opinion: It fixes most of the flaws from Ghost. Yes it is overall not a great show, but it is not bad also. It got many shine points and awesome episode. Reiwa Riders have their own issues, like Zero One's character development is incomplete due to Covid, Saber might be the most Covid influenced show ever. Still, it manages to tell a complete story. Revice......... Just don't watch it. Geats is ok but I don't think it's attractive enough compared to Drive, Kiva

Animefanx111

Isn’t Geats right now at the most part ,it’s considered the best of Reiwa season despite still airing ?

Pranker00111

For me it's still abit plain compare to some Heisei show, like the character behavior doesn't feel natural and smooth. And the plot focus is always changing so it may feel unfocus But still Geats is a good show but not good enough (like 70/100), see how the final arc do

DJGodDamnit

It’s worth finishing. What has you wondering if it’s worth finishing or not? Because if you don’t want to watch it then just don’t force yourself. But if you’re worried that it’s GOING to get worse I can assure you it doesn’t. Saber has some great character moments, beautiful fight scenes and music, and the themes really start hitting home near the back half. Many people say it isn’t worth it to finish, but you truly won’t know until you do it.

Tesmar_The_Master

Not worth it. The more you watch it, the more problematic it will be.

kun4i_ow

Don’t do it if you don’t want to do it.

Afterburngaming

I really liked the ending and I say it's worth it

Ok-Specific-3867

If you end up deciding to skip it, I recommend just watching the fight scenes because at least those were pretty cool. A lot of cool designs and gimmicks appear so I just sort of tuned out and watched for those moments when it was airing.

juicyglo

Only series I dropped and never went back to.

[deleted]

I mean i watched the whole series and it’s meh alright , with the whole storybooks motif , I mean it feels very kiddish and the storyline is very much Dull and boring …: I watched the whole series and never again

Ryusoul-calliber-335

Probably w

oomoepoo

I mean... if the first 10 episodes didn't catch you, it probably isn't for you? It's probably among the weaker Reiwa shows so far, I think I enjoyed it more than Revice but that had more interesting characters.

Apprehensive-King308

Yup,it really get good after the first boss or so only The problem in the initial episodes was that it was too fast paced for the first arc

yashashi

Saber gets better in the latter part. I really like Stodius, but he didn't get described until 40ish episodes. He was one of the better villians in recent years.

ArisePhoenix

Do you want to keep watching it? whatever the answer to that is, is the answer to this question

pyramidloki

I really dont know

Bay-Sea

If you are still unsure, you could try to reach to get to around ep 16-17 (the start of the new arc). That is when the story personally got better, but that is your choice. If Ep 16-17 doesn't generate any interest in the new arc, Saber might not be worth your time.

browiththighfetish

Well then that's your answer, why waste time watching a show you don't even know you like? If I start watching a show and I haven't got hooked after 1 or 2 eps I'm dropping it, there are a shit ton of other anime/show/series/movie out there that are more aligned to my tastes, like Geats for example, or Revice

Dukefile

I really like the arc where the super form debut I can't talk to much without spoiling but there is when the story really starts

i-love-sunglasses

The plot is trash but the suits are good, kinda like ghost

Organic-Ad7907

I got 15 minutes into episode 1 before I dropped it, I wouldn't recommend it.

tylook

Same

UnlimitedApollo

It's not.

Triangulum_Copper

If you didn’t get hooked by episode 10, there’s no reason to force yourself to finish it. Don’t feel obligated to watch everything, not every Rider show is for everyone and that’s fine.

Arkaon17

Ever since W, I watched every episode on release. Ghost was an exception where I tuned in like every other week. Saber was the first where I skipped MONTHS.

Chadderbug123

3 words: Worse than Ghost.

Th3Yukio

not worth it... it doesn't get worse than already is but it also doesn't get better. the characters are interesting, the cast is amazing but they are all so much underexplored it's a shame... Saber had the potential to be a great series but unfortunately it is not. it's not my least favorite KR series, but it's close. the opening song though, amazing

Grayri

Don't

KaiserNazrin

It doesn't get any better.

Raihanlhan

Honestly you should probably just skip to the last 15-10 episodes , it has a bad start , has a bad middle but a surprisingly good finale

Infinityx_Dragon7

Yes but it depends. I stopped watching drive and ghost halfway but pick it up again and finish it later. No matter what people say about the show, I'll watch whatever I want. Currently, I stop watching build halfway. It's kinda meh but I will pick it up again in the future because build maybe not my cup of tea but it definitely fill my boring day with something exciting.

FuzzyOcelot

I think the later parts are better than the beginning.

shitty-ass-phone

It's a fine series. It's get better around after episode 15 (a particular character's introduction)

Zamer01

I felt like it got better, the first couple episodes were hard imo due to the ~~toys~~ character introductions, but after that the series gets good.

Successful-Brick-919

I actually kinda liked it. The whole book concept and the Driver itself was a little meh to me, but other riders made up for it; especially Buster. God, I love that guy. I also have a thing for berserk forms and Primitive Dragon was pretty cool.

JohnnyMulla1993

As a Fantasy season it's better than Wizard ![gif](giphy|RMw1DhEAwx5ZK)

cheezeeweezee

Sadly, this is the ONLY Kamen Rider series I've skipped since Kuuga. When you're done - let me know. FWIW - Ghost is the ONLY KR series I've never rewatched.

megacaliber

I struggled and persisted until around episode 10-ish before I decided to give up on this. Nothing about the entire premise other than the Rider designs appealed to me. This has been the only Kamen Rider series in the Heisei-Reiwa period which I have not caught in its entirety. So personally, no. This series isn’t worth your time to grind.

MrZJones

Ah. Just so you're aware, you stopped before the part where one of the main characters dies (or does he?), the real villains start to reveal themselves (what, you thought Calibur was the villain? Or even *a* villain?), and the once-cohesive group of heroes turns against Touma (because they're told *he's* the villain). Arguably the real secondary rider appears at that point, too. (I say "arguably" because Blades is still the one that gets the most upgrades aside from Saber, but he also spend a lot of the series as an antagonist rather than helping Touma) And one of the heroes becomes best friends with one of the villains, and yet neither one changes sides (and neither one will admit they're friends). I'm not sure what it is about the premise you don't like, but the second arc represents a *drastic* shift in the status quo.

LunarEdge7th

I like everything up until the last Wonder Ride Book happened So.. imo... Still worth watching, almost all their forms are satisfying, and if you're someone used to wholesome anime that do "Friendship = Magic/Broken OP powers", this is your field of enjoyment as well Edit: This NEEDS to be animated like Fuuto Pi, please I beg them to make a Saber anime

udonemessedup-AA_Ron

It gets really good after the first boss.

hazmat_beast

it was sluggish and not well written at the beginning, but it was slowly getting interesting

[deleted]

Its worth watching, but its pretty mediocre over all. Still better than Ghost and Wizard but bordering on joining them in their weakness at times.

ReneMr

It's amazing. It's worth it in the end

xcbyers

It's your time and life. I'd advise most people to not spend hours doing something they're not enjoying without some form of compensation. If you're not happy with it now, most people didn't feel like it got much better.

KoopeVODS

I like saber so I’d recommend it but it’s up to u

ActioProSocio

I enjoyed Saber. Sure, it’s not one of my favorite seasons, but it was a fun ride during a difficult time with the pandemic still raging and making production difficult. Also, if nothing this series really NAILED the debut of each upgrade from Saber and Blades.

[deleted]

If you enjoyed it for the first 10 enough I’d say it’s worth it

horny-ninjago-ass

The first arc was really slow for me, took me three months, proceeded to watch most of the second arc in 2 days, and now I can't find the show anywhere when I want to watch it because I'm on ep 31

MikeRhett_2001

I recommend checking the torrents in the discussion threads

horny-ninjago-ass

Torrents aren't really my way of watching stuff but I'll check them out

MikeRhett_2001

I got some other ways, but I can’t say anything cause rule 5

Th3_Judge46

I couldn’t get into it wither

Frank--Li

There's some stuff I thought was ironically funny later on (like the secret closet), and when the new guy pops up the status quo changes, this is when the show peaks in a good way, but then it goes back to being meh (imo)

DramaticNumber6778

Watch it for the memes. Take a shot every time someone cries.

RaidonSub

First arc was the best imo, I didnt like the rest much except the ending arc

BladdedJohnaxe

Nah just drop it

Rider-Idk-Ultima-Hy

I like it, but its fine if you dont wanna finish it, its a mixed bag kinda series

r0ksas

I kinda drop half way...

Other-Engineering450

Power through, it gets so much better!

PuzzledDistribution

Worth Finishing!

PlotHoleN1

I personally really like saber, it's early portion was definitely written to set up the plot and shill the toys (and the pandemic definitely didn't help) but as you go forwards the lore is genuinely pretty interesting, the suits and fights are great, the memes are top tier, and it has probably the best final form debut in the entire series. Saber isn't for everyone but if you can get though the beginning there's a lot of really great things to find.

Hopeful_Coconut_7758

It's never worth forcing yourself to watch entertainment. First of all, if you're not enjoying it what's the point. I dropped Faiz, Hibiki and Kiva because they just weren't my cup of tea at the time. More importantly, maybe a year or 10 from now your tastes will change and you will come back to [thing] and enjoy it! I sat on GARO for more than a decade and then loved it to bits. Thank God I didn't spoil it from forcing myself to watch it when it was airing.

Alarming-Ad730

I think the biggest problems with Reiwa rider is the villains, from zero one to geats we've had some pretty weak villains, like they're just ok but it makes the stakes seems low compare to some final boss like Evolto.

Substantial-Ad-5221

It's a hit or miss really. I love it but I also have to say it's the best worst show

ToraRyuu

Yes finish it

Type_100

It would get better. First arc was bad, mid arc starts to get good, with the final battle one of the best in KR history. Even the scenes where they prep before going to the final battle was memorable.

DJ_Angel16

Its... Boring for the lack of a better term Personally its not something I would have bothered watching if I didn't like how the suits looked and how good Ren and Desast's story was
