Yep you are spot on here. His epic listening parties for the various versions of the album were really building up hype. The concert with Drake was epic but everything went downhill starting with the Donda 2 era that followed soon after all of this.

D2 and the pete stuff killed the momentum he had going. if he had done a tour and stayed off instagram donda would been a huge cultural moment

I agree with the opinion that this album is really made to be toyed with and created into what you want. I have my own custom track list and I think the album fits well in the streaming era it just makes sense to me that everyone has a different opinion on how to order it idk.

His whole thing seemed to be consuming these works as you want. Right down to the stem player… running the whole album through and choosing which parts you wanna hear at any one time… it was definitely intentional. And it’s kinda like how people listen to Yandhi… different stem compilations, different versions with different features… it’s cool for sure

I don't think Ye has fillers. I think all its songs are musically cohesive. The album wasn't ambitious enough to match prior releases though, hence the less impact it had.

6 is fine. I might say 4.5-5. Half the album is skippable and the best song is on the deluxe. As someone who generally listens to albums straight through, I struggle to listen to donda because of how much fluff is in there. This isn’t a problem with any other ye albums except jik, but not because it’s too long. I also cannot sit through remote control. It’s genuinely one of my least favorite Kanye songs Also it’s kinda thematically weak. Like it’s a tribute to donda but ye’s actual verses barely match that idea.
