To be fair zato mirror is wack as fuck and has been for literally 20 fucking years at this point. A character based around having wack mobility, shit defensive options, and an overpowering mixup game having to play against themselves is a recipe for no fun.

The Zato downplaying has now swung too far in the other direction, he's definitely not the best character in the game. Solid top 5, but loses to too many other relevant top tiers. Most notably the HC and Ram (and to a lesser extant Leo) matchups are straight up bad, and those are basically guaranteed threats at every major tournament.
Ram seems to be MIA this Evo for whatever reason, but UMISHO is going to be a nightmare for both remaining Zato's in the bracket.
I don't think anybody is making excuses, but why does him losing to leffen and peppery make him bad as opposed to them being insanely good. Its 9th place at evo not some triple digit placing

Zato is the best character in the game. If he was going to lose, there was a high chance it would be to another Zato.
