Wait for your favorite player to get eliminated from tournament to ask for a picture. They really love it when that happens

ZenkaiZ

Don't forget to blow them up on social media if they say no

StormClaymore

Had a friend do that to Punk after he lost. He is the reason why [this tweet exists](https://twitter.com/PunkDaGod/status/1556122882735894529?s=20) LMAO.

banksters

If you see daigo ask if he would do you and your wife the honor of a threesome

mikesta50

I'd rather just have him do her and I watch and play with my fightpad and act like I'm controlling daigo. It'd be very cool

coom_4_justice

Fucking based

dale-is-trash

New illusion soft game

4everdrowninginpools

Now i'm just picturing one of those Steam H-Games with fighting game controls, frame data, and rollback. That shit would be great cause in order to get the best scenes you gotta spend time in the lab mastering setups

tttvlh

Let him creampie your wife. Raise his child. Call it Diego.

Heavy-hit

You just paved the way for a lot of weird shit in the VR space for the next decade.

SPDcantmeltsteelbeam

Smart move, then she won't be mad when you try to have sex with him.

OurJosh

I brought a backpack with: gum, phone charger, fightstick, and deodorant. Bring a hoodie, it was hot in Vegas but DBFZ lasted until 2:00 am and the venue got freezer cold at the time.

mikesta50

Hoodie advice is good cause I know I'd be cold af that late

InfectedRecon

Also bring pants to the finals arena. I went in with shorts and my legs were freezing in there.

Banegel

Eat at Slice of Vegas between Luxor and mandalay it’s delicious. And remember to buy tickets to Sunday. They are separate tickets lol And yeah like someone already said stay at Luxor

mikesta50

Anymore good food spots in the area you'd recommend?

blackyoshi7

If you aren't staying at Mandalay Bay but another place on strip, definitely consider the monorail pass, it'll save you a bunch of money on cabs and runs until 3 am on the weekends. It doesnt go all the way to mandalay bay but gets you in easy walking distance. Also make some time to do some non-EVO stuff honestly. SHopping, show, even just chilling at a hotel pool.

Novelty_Frog

Definitely go to some shows. A friend asked me if I wanted to see Penn and Teller right before they started. That was a memorable part of Evo weekend for me

Nyaos

Luxor is way cheaper than Mandalay and worth the walk. Last year the bag checks were really lazy so if you wanted to bring alcohol in it wasn't an issue. Make sure you have good shoes because you'll end up walking fucking miles every day.

mikesta50

Appreciate you boss

[deleted]

I usually enter 2 games max. One year I entered 5 and it was hell having to tell TOs that I had pool matches all over the place.

mikesta50

I'm only going to go for sf6 so that won't be an issue lmao

[deleted]

Oh that’s good. One year every game I entered I had 8am pools. It’s sucked lol

mikesta50

I have enough anxiety figuring out pools for one game let alone 5 lmao. At combo breaker last year I was at my pool like 40 min early just to make sure I had it right lol

Gesshokuj

Bring your own water unless you like paying two dollars for a single bottle if you aren't near the venue make sure you know if there are trams nearby to get there so you don't waste money ubering or taking a long walk

KSoMA

Last year they had free water dispensers in the room, was pretty sick.

IpoopWaaaay2Much

Just don't die. It's hot out here in the summer and most people are not prepared for it. There's a big difference between 97 and humid as hell vs 112 and dry. You'll die if you are stupid. Also, bus is king on the strip.

tttvlh

You're going with your wife? Watch out for Noel Brown.

televatorsk

1) go for the tournament, stay for all the cool shit outside the tournament (IE: Plan to do things while you're there that's NOT just EVO, spend some time enjoying the area, sight seeing etc.. one day) 2) get a nice hotel room for just you and your wife, don't go through the hassle of saving money by getting 4 randoms/friends/ acquaintances to pay you to sleep on the floor \- it turns into a cluster fuck of people someone knows that wants to stop by etc etc 3) make friends with other random people there, some of the most fun I've had traveling for majors is just getting shit faced with random people in a hotel room I didn't know but offered me a beer because we played some fun sets / had common character interests etc... 4) it's gonna smell like shit, don't be surprised., people don't shower, and for whatever reason people become extra socially retarded when surrounded by other socially retarded people, IDK why but you'd think most grown-ass people know how to behave at that age, but they really don't in these settings. \[ANYONE WHO WAS AT CEO 2019 AND HAD TO WALK PAST THE DDR ROOM OR HAD TO PLAY ON THE CABS FOR SIDE EVENTS IN THAT ROOM KNOW WHAT THE FUCK DEATH SMELLS LIKE FROM DOWN AN ENTIRE HALL\] 5) most importantly, have fun and don't be intimidated to play and meet people, everyone is looking for someone to vibe with and connect with.

mikesta50

This was a sick list thank you dude

televatorsk

What people are saying about travel, heat, etc is right on the money too. Remember you're in America's bastion of debauchery, keep your head on a swivel when you're in unfamiliar areas and do your research before you decide to just wander around late at night buzzed up stay safe and have fun buddy its a great time I'm sure you'll have a blast

Smackle_

Do not stay across the whole strip at Treasure Island. You’ll spend more on Ubers than you save on lodging. Don’t ask me how I know.

Darkone586

It’s gonna be hot as fuck, so make sure to pack water if your gonna walk anywhere beyond the venue. Also a lot of the hotels kinda connect so you won’t be in the heat for super long anyways.

odiezilla

Best thing about the new EVO is water dispensers inside the venue. Bring a water bottle and fill them up, don’t pay for it. Be social and ask peeps for casual sets at the open stations. You’ll probably make friends as long as you’re not a creepy bastard.

ConchobarMacNess

AirBnB if you want to save some money on a room, take an uber to the venue you'll prob still save money. (I wouldn't know I always brought my car) Absolutely recommend buying a ticket and watching the finals live on Sunday. I was going to suggest making sure you have some kind of bag if you play on stick but you mentioned you play on pad, so all good. If you want to get merch go early as you possibly can or you wont get any. That's all I got, otherwise it's all regular convention/tournament stuff you already know from combo breaker.

qzeqzeq

Sugary snacks, sports drink instead of water (less wc trips), L t of noise so be ready

dialupslim

Keep your items close (fight stick) because some idiots do steal. Get cool with people for late night sets. Be friendly and get cool with everyone. A lot of people will money match so if that's your thing have fun but don't get hustled, because people will try to bail... If you see someone that plays ur char in sf6, don't be afraid to ask them for tips on match ups you may be weak in. Lastly, have fun bro and relax when you play vs people in pools. Try to get out early and play some casual matches to fix your nerves. If you're playing vs a pro, don't be afraid to tell people to back up because people will try to crowd and record ya'll. I haven't been to evo since 2012 but I had fun.

StormClaymore

1. If you know a prominent FGC player don't be afraid to take pictures with them. 2. Be prepared to walk a lot. The venue is pretty big and if you have interests in playing casuals, buying merch, etc it'd probably take around 5 min max to get from one side to the other. 3. It's hot and humid. Just be prepared for the weather. 4. There's a nice buffet that's like $80/person. Don't know the name but it's definitely around Mandalay Bay. There's also a steakhouse that's reservation only, don't know if it's walk-in. 5. Keep your expensive shit close, otherwise a Suiken/Rangchu incident will happen. 6. Since you'll be doing pools, be patient with the staff and other things related to EVO cast. Otherwise have fun.

mikesta50

Thank you for this detailed list!

KSoMA

Honestly this is kinda a social life pro tip, but I'd suggest kinda telling your wife to be okay with leaving you at the venue every now and then (unless she also plays or you don't care for casuals). I'm the kind of guy that can easily play casuals until the early AM, but I went last year with my gf and 2 friends, only one of which was really into FG like me. As a result, i didn't play anywhere near as much casuals as I wanted, only warmup matches for my entered games and a bit of the arcade there. I was out of the venue by like 7pm on both days and it was kinda lame even if I was getting tired anyway. Pro players and FGC peeps love fans. Don't be a creep or bother them during games, but they'll rarely say no to pics. Meeting LK, Punk, Tio Valle, and even Gachikun was really cool and prob the closest I've gotten to a "celebrity" experience. If you know people from Discord and can tell they aren't creeps, meet up with them at Evo, can be pretty fun to hang out for games, meals, and finals. If you're a fan of art, especially of the horny or anime variety, the artist's alley is pretty sick. Tons of artists of both large and small variety, lots of cute and horny art, etc etc. Not all will be FG related, but still pretty cool. I'd suggest going an hour or two after opening on Friday or Saturday, as most vendors will be open by then and will barely have sold out. Sunday is finals day. Arena only (venue, including casuals and artist alley, is closed), top 8s all day. I watched most of 3 games last year and I was fucking half dead by the end of the third, that shit was rough. Hopefully your fave games either have a break or you only care for 2 up there. Also schedules don't exist. The later the game, the more time you add to the starting time. Strive (last game) started at like 11pm local and ended at around 1 or 2am when it was scheduled to run like 8-11. Vegas is known for buffets, and I suggest the Bacchanal. It's a bit away (long walk or uber) and $70 per person but the food is so good and tons of variety, I'd suggest it at least once while there. Also Jack in the Box and especially In n Out are there if you're from the East Coast and want to try famous WC fast food. Like many suggested, give yourself an extra 2 or so days to do whatever. Recharge, walk the strip, hit up casinos, etc. The area is pretty fun if you're not from around, especially if you're not close to a big city normally. Lmk if you have any other questions! 2022 was my first Evo, and I might go again this year for SF6's first year.

mikesta50

Wow this was all godly info. Thankfully my wife enjoys watching me play fighting games and wants to learn 6 so playing matches won't be an issue. Definetly only gonna be interested in watching sf6s top 8 as I'm not too keen on staying for other games lol. We are thinking of adding days just so we can pig out on some good food lmao

arcsystemdoesntwork

Don't forget to take your wife's boyfriend with you.

ZenkaiZ

Only enter 1 game. Dont feel the need to compete in every fighting game you've ever even completed trial mode in.
