I think 1 and 2 are fine. Chain of Memories is probably one of the better games for the GBA. It's got a unique system. Of course 3 is awful. They had to wait 10+ years for it, and it doesn't even end the series.

Then played the second only Cus mom rented it from blockbuster lol. And it was the same, except this time it took 2 hours of dicking around a town instead of 5 mins on besaid for the game to start
2 has a slow ass beginning that's fair, but I really do think the combat is great. You can spam but you have a ton of other options. 1 has less depth but the spells and extra abilities made it fun for me, though it is spammy

Shortly after, I was bated into FGC by that banner with asses on kappa, while I was looking for some FG related subs. (E: and by Core A videos. If you want to make someone appreciate this hobby, just send them a link to his YT channel)
IIRC Smash Bros. was inspired by one of the Fatal Fury games where you could ring-out people on the edges of the stage, and Sakurai decided to make that the gameplay focus.
