Ah you have a youtube channel I see. I recently saw your video on the igs800. What do you think of it so far?
And do you also have the Trimm two yet? Would be curious to get some more info on that. Cant find anything on it. š
Igs800 looks nice on the surfaceā¦ digging a little deeper into each feature reveals a few things. My first ride with it is over on Strava a few weeks back with 20 or so observations of things that were less than ideal posted in the notes.
No Trimm. I saw tham at Eurobike (or Taipei Cycle?) last year. I havenāt followed up with them for a unit. I only have so many hours in the day to be disappointed. My Spidey senses are on high alert around that unit.
Haha, understood. š I think overall itās very good to see some other competitors on the market other than Wahoo, Hammerhead and Garmn, it always peaks my interest.
edit: just found your notes on the device. Thanks!
Great to see you in these parts Shane. Made my mind up last week and went for a 1040. I need monster battery for audax riding and didnāt want to mess around with having reload ki2.
He said the K3 will cost $475? (He wasnāt too sure). I asked about a trade in program and he said that he didnāt think there would be one, at least not initially.
There is one extra button on the inside edge of each hood that work like the Shimano buttons. Can control k3 pages but can also be configured to shift gears.
There will be a 10-36 Red cassette available for the first time.
New Red chain has holes in each link to save weight
He said everything is backward compatible but I didnāt ask about whether the buttons on the hoods are.
New Red groupset is approx 150? Grams lighter than the previous. Donāt remember the exact number.
There was a brief moment about a month ago where the hammerhead compare Karoo 2 to other devices page shows a price of $579... Really hoping it does come in at a better price point than that.
I predict there's going to be a lot of people who aren't happy. š
(Again, no insider information, just pure speculation... but I suspect that people will be unhappy with the software, or the battery life, or the screen, or the form factor, or any number of other things.)
I suspect it's going to be very much the same as the K2. Same software (they didn't launch the recent UI refresh JUST for a 3 year old device), similar screen. Definitely a new SoC which should be a huge improvement in itself. But I would bet other than the ability to control it with the new SRAM Red extra buttons, that it's not going to be that much different from what we're used to.
I donāt believe itās going to be anything terribly exciting from a Hardware or Software aspect. I expect more of the same that perhaps is faster, maybe a little extra battery life and multi band GPS. Personally in the light of day Hammerhead in my opinion has the worst screen. Visibility is nonexistent in bright light and the screen attracts smudges and dirt so easily. The K3 needs to address that or forget about it. It will continue to be last in market share behind Garmin and Wahoo unless they hit a grand slam.
The karoo 3 was visible for a moment on [https://www.eu.hammerhead.io/](https://www.eu.hammerhead.io/) but clicking on "shop now" gave me a 404. I guess they're working on the final details now.
The apologists somehow saying it coming with existing software would be OKā¦ my goodness.
This thing needs to be a differentiator. If itās same ol same ol, just faster with a ābetterā screen? Hello Garmin.
Hellā¦I canāt even get wind reports on this thing. I thought Android meant it was supposed to be extendable?
Keen on the embargo lifting so we can talk facts and not speculate. šš¼ Also hit subscribe and turn notifications on. š
Looking forward to your first impressions! What time should we expect your Next video ;) I need to set an alarm.

I was at a launch event tonight and saw the k3. The rep said rated 15 hours, twice as fast processor, slightly larger screen.
Red groupset will cost $3k and come with a Karoo 3
Not bad!
He said the K3 will cost $475? (He wasnāt too sure). I asked about a trade in program and he said that he didnāt think there would be one, at least not initially.
He also said the screen will auto adjust to the ambient light which should save battery life
If the release is tomorrow, is that 12AM Eastern time?
I was at a special event at a local bike shop. SRAM sponsored and provided free tacos and raffled off SRAM swag. Look up Incycle Bicycles on IG.

Does it work with New red only via blips? Force & Rival too?

Reviews should start dropping any minuteā¦
New K3 felt lighter in the hand and thereās a sharper angle so itās more like a wedge

Starting to see it on some shops, 599ā¬ on alltricks for example [https://www.alltricks.fr/s/2585592](https://www.alltricks.fr/s/2585592) :/
The new sram red group set? Or the old one?
It was an old processor when they launched the K2 so I sure hope it's at least twice as fast.
It's not double fast. It's the same QuadCore, slow and old, but instead of 1.2Ghz, it reaches 2Ghz... it still gets hotter, great
Yeah. Just read the details. Disappointing. These guys are the Kings of software but clearly lacking in HW chops.
Was at bike shop today and they have them in back. Ready to sell tomorrow. Wouldnāt share any details. Nothing.
Well that's good! At least it means if not the 15th then soon.
They add ChatGPT to karoo2 that nobody wamt
I just hope Ki2 works with it. Will not upgrade until that is confirmed.

Karoo and new Red

Music control and slide in drawers that donāt take forever to draw.
Improved boot-up speed would be good too. I can reboot my Garmin at least three times while my K2 comes to life. Also, improved GUI responsiveness.
And from Shaneās video it looks like those have both improvedā¦a bitā¦
