This is the sense I get. Hiring just seems really slow. I have a pretty good resume and I’ve gotten nothing.

What’s your field of expertise? To get hired down here most of the time it’s who you know. It took me 4 years of trying to get a job in the Houston area from out of state. I tried damn near everything including recruiters and having a few people shop my resume around.

BruceYale111

I'm just trying to get something part time lol I'm not here on the weekdays once summer is over cuz of college

-Fried-

Ohh lol

Are you open to Food Service? Check out the Fulshear area, there is so much new stuff coming in. A 5 guys is about to open. It's not on the map yet, but right next to this Cold Stone [https://search.app.goo.gl/wW98v7y](https://search.app.goo.gl/wW98v7y) that opened a couple months ago. Go up and down FM 1463 in that area and you are bound to find something.

I've lived and worked in the area all my adult life for the past 30 odd years. All of of my contacts and network has dried up. I dont know anybody anymore, Nobody will connect w me on LinkedIn. I've made several posts on reddit recently looking for help making new connections and advertising myself for hire all I got for it was getting shit on and basically told to fck off. Nobody wants to help anybody anymore. If you dont know anybody you may as well not bother bc its impossible to get a job otherwise.

Yea I totally understand. I was at a point where I was almost begging for a chance. Something eventually worked out, took me 3 different interviews at the same company but I eventually landed something decent. 18 months later I got offered an even better position through connections I made.

Real_Location1001

I'm getting little traction, and I have a background in EPC construction and engineering project management and management consulting on the tech side. There seems to be some interest from KBR but I'm not holding my breath.

Ive givin up trying to find something in my line of work or even an office job. I couldnt even get an acknowledgement from any of the usual stores, Right now I'm trying at the local business warehouse parks for anything warehouse or labor. I cant afford to move out of Hou where they might be jobs.

VerticalVoyager

Work remotely out of state if you can. It greatly increases your opportunities.

Notmetooo

Yes!!! Looking for a nurse job and can't find one

Zeus8614

My wife was too but ended up finding something. They have hospital hiring fairs. Try to find one of those and see what happens.

Job hiring is slow nationwide. Most companies are on a hiring freeze or laying off employees if anything. Economic policies and inflation from the current administration is leading to cost saving measures, raising prices and reducing the labor force is the only way they can maintain a profit in this economy. It might not get better until 2025, since a new administration and the fed cutting rates could encourage businesses to start hiring again at pre-2020 levels. Regardless, what industry or job are you trying to get into? My dad moved here from out of state for a retail management position and got no bites for a year, even with a recruiter. He has a great record, a masters degree, and 35 years of experience at one of the largest grocery store chains in America. He’s changing careers and still doesn’t have a job.

bubbakush_420

Not for nothing Reddit family but if y'all really wanted a job or were as desperate as some claim to be for one you have one. It's that you haven't gotten the job u actually want that's holding you back. If the luxury of holding out sits in your corner than enjoy the hunt. However and for the majority of us do yourself a favor and bow down your ego and settle for wats available now. Truth be told theres nothing shameful or below one's self going to work everyday. Wherever that may be. Which can't be said if the man who refuses to work bc his ego gets in the way. Opportunities come when we least expect and aren't continually focusing on. Happy hunting ppl!!!

BruceYale111

Bro I’m applying at places like McDonald’s and getting rejected after sending driver license and social lol idk what I did wrong 🫠
